The best thing about this Hotel was the stuff. The guy on front desk and the girl in the bar were lovely. But the Hotel itself feels really tired, is dark and really needs painting and new carpets to say the least. The Hotel smiled quite nice on entry, but my room, number 15, was through a fire door beyond which everything smiled quite badly like toilet. The paintwork and cushions in the room were stained and dirty. The bed was really uncomfortable, really soft and the springs were uncomfortable.

The staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help with anything. Location was perfect — close to the main attractions, restaurants, and public transport.

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. I would happily come back and definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Do not order breakfast.

Room fantastic and reception staff brilliant. Breakfast was an absolute farce. Service incredibly slow. No bread, no plates, no butter, coffee machines out of order and no alternative offered. Order taken for breakfast along with other guests and other orders taken after ours. Waited 40minutes and didn’t receive our breakfast. Rude staff basically saying that they are busy and there were only two of them???

Overnight stop

Great location-within the city centre, just 5 minute walk from the rail station and yards from the Arena but still on a quiet road.
Room was small but all that you need for a short stay. Clean with decent bed and shower.
It is integral to a pub where breakfast is served however we didn’t eat there as felt £18 extra was not good value. Plenty of cafes,restaurants,pubs on the doorstep.

I visited Nottingham virtually every week for nearly 2 months and always chose the Lace Market hotel.

Rooms are clean and comfortable, if they are on offer chose the suite for added luxury. The breakfasts are really good and is great to have plated service. The only negative is the air conditioning can be temperamental.

The room was quite old and dated. The shower was very good and powerful. The window shades were scruffy. The room was quiet, which was a huge plus. Breakfast was really delicious and plentiful; it was served by an incredibly friendly and accommodating gentleman.

Could be good, needs a lot of work

Central ish location but in a quieter area of City, sadly a stench of Canibas around. Tap is too low with high plug stopper making it almost impossible to use. Room needs deep clean as stale cigarette smoke lingers. ONe of lamps nearly dropped off wall. Wifi is terrible. Bed is comfy and big, air con works well but would have been nice to have windows that open for fresh air perhaps the smokers at pub below is why they don't.

Room was nice, staff were ok, but it was horrendously noisy. The room was on the ground floor next to the cobbled street & the hotel entrance so every vehicle that passed was heard & every person who passed was heard. I could also hear everyone in the lobby. I was pretty stunned to see that there were only wooden, single glazed windows & there was no hot water in the morning & for which the receptionist did not apologise. I know it's impossible to get a corporation to apologise for getting something wrong these days, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. I wouldn't even have mentioned it had I received an apology. As far as I'm concerned 'sorry about that' should have been the first words out of the receptionist's mouth.

Game of two halves

Staying in hotels can be made or messed by the people you interact with. The frostiness of the receptionist was fortunately balanced and thawed by the warmth of the breakfast host. Hats off to him, though I wouldn’t return to be greeted by her again.
Also, my basement room was boiling, and too hot.
Great breakfast, and nice overall hotel just more attention to hire the right staff for right jobs.

Old hotel with character in historical central location. Hard & soft furnishings tired, musty smell. Ensuite bathroom well appointed. Booked 2 \"deluxe\" rooms for 3 nights. I wouldn't class them as \"deluxe\". Requested to move as our rooms were at the back overlooking air conditioning units. Room was dark, dingy, carpet stained & musty smelling. Receptionist receptive, apologetic and immediately changed our room which we were grateful for.
Lovely bar which also serves as the breakfast room. Breakfast host was clearly stressed, no greeting, we felt as though we were an inconvenience to him. The staff on our last morning were both friendly and welcoming.

A quiet gem in the city

I've stayed in several hotels in Nottingham over the years and this is definitely my new favourite. The staff are lovely and genuinely mean when they say if you need anything to ask. The highlight apart from this is the hotel's location in the heart of the city, but away from the thoroughfare. It's lovely and quiet whilst being close to everything you can need. I will definitely book again in future.

Lovely hotel

Really lovely hotel. My partner and I decided to come to Nottingham for a spontaneous night away and booked this hotel because it was walking distance from a lot of restaurants and the city centre. As expected, the hotel doesn’t have parking but it’s only round the corner from the lace market car park which is fine. The only thing that let it down was that the room was really hot even when turning the heating all the way down to cool and you couldn’t open the windows. But otherwise, lovely hotel and I would come back.

We were surprised at how small our double room was. Careless details such as having to get out of bed when nearly asleep to turn off the lights.
The window frame needs a coat of paint.
The roman window blind needs mending as do the sash cords.
There isn't a lounge for people who may not want to sit in the bar.
The tariff to stay in a small bedroom without breakfast or parking is unreasonable.
The receptionists are very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Attractive historic building, friendly reception, comfortable bed with unusually good pillows. My room was on the ground floor near the stairs into the pub which was noisy at night until about midnight. The bed was cosy with a Welsh blanket and cushions but room decor otherwise a little stark.

Disappointing.

The hotel looks fantastic on photos but disappoints on arrival. It feels very dated, the lift is temperamental at best, the hotel smells a little (mainly of it being old) and the rooms were really not what I expected. The tap in my room was leaking all night, the iron left dirt marks on my shirt. The main thing is that based on the photos I was expecting a well kept room but was greeted with room which felt old, not looked after and generally not what I expect from a 4 star hotel.

That said, there were some positives. Reception staff was lovely and the bed was comfortable.

Beautiful Room

Beautifully presented, spacious room with comfy bed, great wifi and a restaurant attached that delivers pizza! I was on the ground floor, and I'm used to peace and quiet, so I was occasionally disturbed by people walking by and talking noisily, so might be worth asking for a room on a higher floor if this is likely to disturb you.
