I recently stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel Nottingham, and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing despite this room being marketed as an upgrade.
The bathroom had no blind, and because the room faces the main road this felt very uncomfortable. When I reported it, I was told there is a new policy of having no blinds and relying on frosted glass, which didn’t provide sufficient privacy in my opinion.
There were also several maintenance issues. The sink taps didn’t work properly, the rubber seal on the shower screen was visibly dirty and really needs replacing rather than just wiping, and the bath itself looked very worn with old defects – not something I would feel comfortable using.
From a practical point of view, the room only had two plug sockets. In today’s world, where most people travel with multiple devices (phones, smartwatches, etc.), this simply isn’t adequate.
Noise was another problem. Being on the main road meant significant traffic noise due to poor windows, and the walls were so thin that I could clearly hear conversations from neighbouring rooms.

On a positive note, bedding and towels were clean, which is after all should be a basic requirement in any hotel. Staff were very welcoming on arrival.

Expidea website indicated 4 Star and an 8.2 rating, in reality this really was not the case. Pictures on website also very misleading to the actual quality of the hotel.

Staff were fantastic - attentive, check-in good, and always smiling. We ordered an executive room (room 326) which was spacious. However, the shower was quite weak and spluttering - it needed more pressure. Room was facing the room and was quite noisy early in the morning - there was clearly gaps in the double glazing windows that needed adjusting to keep tight. Small point - we had phone cables, but not plugs - it would have been ideal to have power sockets next to the bed, and also with USB sockets.
Breakfast was fine, although a wider selection of fruits and meats (e.g. turkey slices) would have been great. Walking to the room, floors were creaky, but OK and decore looked tired.
Plenty of parking and ideal location to travel to Nottingham.
We were told to leave the car park by 11am or pay extra, but at the opposite hotel (normally stay) we could leave the car all day) for free - small point to consider.
Overall, we would be happy to stay again if required.

In general the room was in good condition and comfortable, especially the bed. Even the shower wasnt that bad. The main issue for me was that my 'superior' room was at the front of the hotel on the main road and there was not enough soundproofing. The noise from the traffic could have been at the foot of the bed which made sleeping a challenge at best
The staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. Parking at the hotel is limited and the spaces are small. The hotel isnt currently serving lunch or dinner so you have to eat out. The chippie across the road is highly recommended and there's also an Indian restaurant across the road. Would i stay here again? Probably not because of the noise from passing traffic and lack of room soundproofing, and the very tight parking area.

Ive stayed at this hotel serveral times, always clean and tidy and the staff are lovely. This time i stayed in room 217 never stayed in this part of the hotel before. The noise levels were awful i could hear the people in the room next door talking word for word and then the machine around the back at around 5.30 am was so loud. By 9am i had, had enough of the noice and checked out. Overall the hotel is lovely. But this was not a restful break.

Bed very comfy however hotel is in a very busy area so a lot of noise even with windows closed, no water pressure whatsoever in the showers took ages to rinse soap off . I have let the staff know. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful although very understaffed . All staff were lovely and very helpful , even booked a table at a nearby restaurant for our evening meal. If it wasn’t for the noise and the showers we would use again as very central for the city .

Booked an executive room to stay whilst visiting friends, free parking on site was a bonus with bus stop right outside to go into city. Check in efficient and reception team all friendly and accommodating to help with information. Had a nice room at the front of building on first floor, spacious with a lovely big bath and shower. Bar and breakfast area looked comfortable but we didn't use as out and about. Would stay again.

Having been going here on a regular basis for quite e few years I must admit that this visit was probably the best I have experienced. The meal was definitely the best I have had there although I must say that it is normally pretty good anyway but hats off to the chef on the night even though he was an agency. The reception staff were very welcoming and the bar staff equally. A nice pint as well.

The hotel itself is very nice situated in a very good location also with a variety of rooms though the building is like a Maze and you do get lost looking for your room!!! The hotel receptionist staff have very poor communication skills with not fluent in English at all which is a crucial key thing in the tourism industry and certainly doesn’t qualify for a Best Western standard !!! The hotel late shift manager can’t remember his exact name has a stinking attitude towards the guests queries !!! No customer service skills at all !! He’s rude arrogant and abrupt again with poor communication skills !! These things definitely need reviewing and changed

Great breakfast on the Saturday and made very welcome by Kirsty. She was just as helpful on Sunday but the chef preferred to do plated breakfast rather than buffet so the waiting staff were flustered and the customers inc me confused. It meant I either eat my breakfast hot and have cereals after or have it cold. Shame because apart from that a great stay.

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bed in a clean room. The hotel is quite big and it’s a bit of a maze getting to your room but the place is well signed. Very easy access to the town centre (there’s a bus stop outside). (To travel on the bus, you need the correct change if you are paying with cash).
The hotel’s car park is pretty naff, the spaces are small and the car park is not big enough for the hotel. The breakfast was good and there’s plenty of choice. The cooked food is good. The coffee machine is probably the slowest in the world.

Horrible from start to finish. The car park was full, and several of the vehicles were commercial vans, so I had to park on a back road nearby. Pretty annoying, when my one search filter had been ‘parking’. The first floor lobby smelled like a toilet, and not been hoovered for some time. My room smelled disgusting - like an old suit overdue for a dry-clean. The carpet hadn’t been well-hoovered and there were crumbs on the desk. one bedside lamp was broken and the light socket covered with black insulating tape. The kettle was so filthy I asked for a clean one. The receptionist looked baffled at first, but eventually brought me a clean one. There was mould all round the bathroom window. No blind on it - just a scrappy net curtain - and it gave out onto the main road, so I could easily see the shapes of cars etc passing. The lack of a proper blind on the almost floor-to-ceiling window meant I had no privacy and had to wash and use the loo (right next to the window) in the dark. The traffic noise was excessive, and there were people talking loudly in the corridors until midnight. There was Intrusively loud pop music playing in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast. Many of the staff smelled of cigarette smoke. Overall, so unpleasant I checked out the next day, even though I was told I wouldn’t be refunded the second night because I had paid in advance.

First impressions last - arrived to find the drug addicts begging out the front. Completely ignored by the man that checked us in. Even though the booking was in my name and paid for with my credit card he would only speak with my male travel companion. The room was fully paid for through Expedia but then I had to give him my card to have one pence charged to it before we were allowed to complete check in. He stated that the one pence would be returned to my account (which it was) but as it is still a currency conversion through my card, my bank fee for it is $5.00 AUD. The room was tidy but not clean, black smear mark on one of the pillow cases. The room was noisy lots of deliveries appeared to be happening early in the morning. Honestly avoid this place at all costs.

I booked a room with a king size bed and 2 single beds as we are 2 adults and a young baby but they gave us a room with twin bed to begin with. I explained about the original booking and they moved us to a room with a super king size bed. I didn’t want to argue to much as we had to carry around so many stuff.
Room was unnecessarily big and so hot!
I asked about air conditioner as I couldn’t find a remote control and the reception said they don’t have air conditioners in rooms and they don’t promote about air condition. What a disaster! Then why do you have the unit in the room?
Shower was so weak and the drain was absolutely slow. I informed the reception about the draining and nothing happened.
Last but not least, the building is absolutely nightmare to walk around as elevator didn’t reach our room (3F) and stairs are connected like a maze.
Very disappointed about the facility and the brand Best Western.
One good thing was breakfast and breakfast restaurant staff.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.

Super welcome and early check in. We were allocated a different room as our original room wasn’t quite ready. The room itself was small but comfortable with lots of unexpected ‘extras’: tissues, cotton buds, biscuits, and a safe.
Great value, with the best prices available by booking direct with the hotel. And Free Parking.

Checkin was easy and friendly. Plenty of parking. The design of the hotel is strange. I stayed on the first floor, but had to take a lift to the first floor, then walk down a flight of stairs to my room. The room was spacious and the amenities were great: kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits hairdryer, and shampoo/bodywash dispensor. The beds were actually very comfortable, as were the pillows. The location is ok. Due to it not being located in the city center there wasn't much in the immediate area; however, there is a good pub, Grosvenor, across the street and an amazing micropub, Doctor's Orders, within a five minute walk. Great service with a good selection. The breakfast is self service, but was good. There's a selection of limited cereal, breads, yougurt, and fruit. The hot food includes, scrambled eggs, sausage, baked beans, mushrooms, hashbrowns, rashers, and grilled tomatoes, but without having to pay an additional fee, the staff are more than happy to prepare poached, fried, or boiled eggs. Would defnitely stay again in ever in the area.

Ideal for a city break, very clean quality rooms, short drive or bus ride to town centre. Good restaurants and pubs close by. Helpful friendly staff. Downsides: many rooms not fully accessible by lift - parts of the hotel involve lots of stairs. The hotel is on a main road although fully double-glazed. I found the hotel very hot and had to have the electric fan (provided) on all night which I would not expect to need in March.

It was all let down by the noise from the corridors at night. we were on the ground floor. The walls & doors must be paper thin. The cleaning cupboard was next door to our room which added to the noise in the morning. There was a door outside which banged extremely loudly at regular intervals in the morning. Everything time the neighbouring guests went into their room it sounded like they were coming through our door. My partner slept through but not a very good night's sleep for me at all. A real shame because otherwise it was good value.

Every Best Western hotel has it quirks and this one is unusual in that it comprises some old Victorian houses that have been joined together. The result is an upstairs-downstairs journey to your room with your suitcases, which is not ideal for less abled guests. However, the room itself was very comfortable and the bathroom sparkling. Reception staff are friendly and efficient and there are complimentary home-made choc-chip biscuits on offer on an ongoing basis - a nice touch. The restaurant has a good selection of food although there are a number of restaurant choices in the local area. WiFi wasn't high-speed, but adequate for connecting.

Not bad overnight stay but more like a 3 star

Service OK although they don't always answer when you phone when calling reception. Free parking is a bonus. TV didn't work, room was overly warm, no air con. Bar is over priced, ordered a small lemonade, small coffee and hot chocolate came to over £10! Wouldn't mind the price but the coffee and Hot chocolate were from a machine so nothing special. If you're expecting 4 star service I wouldn't recommend. If you get a cheap deal and lower expectations to a 3 star it's not bad for an overnight stay.
