UNSAFE FOR FEMALES! The room door is missing the chain and/or bolt lock, and the deadbolt panel was crooked so the deadbolt didn’t work. There is no peephole either, so when a man started pounding on my door at night, I was concerned. The front desk staff came up and didn’t see him. I asked them to review the cameras- NO CAMERAS! I would advise against this property.

For a 4 star hotel the stay was disappointing. The room was very tired with minor damage to walls and doors throughout. There was leakage of oil from the door closer running down inside of the door. There was a big
crack in the shower tray. I have stayed in a few Mercure hotels before but this was definitely the most neglected room.
On a positive note the location is very handy for the railway station and about a five minute walk to the centre of town.
Not value for money.

While the room was lovely, it was next to the elevator shaft, which was creaking. So every time someone used the elevator, there was this low-pitch, long creak audible in the room, which was rather annoying. Also, I was staying on the 6th floor and the lift on the right had a faulty 6th floor button. It took almost a minute for the front desk lady to activate it.

Good town centre hotel

The room was too hot and the air-conditioning didn’t work. We had to open the window which meant we heard street noise.
We were given an accessible room which we hadn’t asked for and which was slightly inconvenient in the wet room.
Good location across the street from the railway station and close to the old town.

Excellent place to stay, arrived at Chambéry train station and this hotel is directly opposite so very convenient. Enjoyed our hotel location without disturbances from passing trains. The hotel is central and has markets, shops, parks and restaurants within a few minutes walking distance. We opted to eat in the local areas, however would try breakfast options next time and sure that too would be excellent. There’s a restaurant next to the hotel and car hire company’s that can be arranged conveniently if required. Lots of lakes or trekking options with stunning views in this area. Enjoyed a fantastic few days in this beautiful town and I’m sure to return again in the future. Happy to recommend this hotel and plan a trip again. Thanks to the team

Comfortable hotel

I was travelling from Barcelona to Sauze d'Oulx, and Chambery was the stopover. The hotel is directly opposite the station, and a short walk to the bus stop for my morning connection. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. I had a great night's sleep!

Personnel aimable, souriant et à ecoute.
Seul bémol l emplacement de l hôtel qui se situe face a la gare. Peut être pratique pour ceux qui viennent en train mais pas très sur le soir au vu de la fréquentation ce qui dommage.
Les chambres sont propres mais problème de chasse d eau. Nous devions la tirer minimum 5 fois pour faire partir le papier.
Cet hôtel est bien pour un week-end mais je ne le recommande pas pour une semaine.
Nous avions réservé le parking sauf qu’il n’y a pas assez de place pour tous l hôtel donc ce fut au petit bonheur la chance à chaque retour de balade

property is old need proper attention. First night we were put in a room on unfinished floor. the hallway ceiling is being replaced and just covered with plastic sheet. airconditioning is non existing. when we came back after going to Grenoble, we were put in a room that smells like disinfectant and the bathroom lights are not working. It was late in the afternoon and the reception clerk was apologetic, that their maintenance is no longer available. she offered us a free drink in the bar ( we refused ). at least she did what she can. much appreciated.
on the positive, the staff are excellent and the property is opposite to train station.

We chose the hotel as we were touring France by train and the hotel waa right across the road from the station.
Staff were excellent and helpful.
Very good choice for breakfast to set us up for the day.

We ate on a evening at the restaurant attached although believe it's a seperate business. Superb food so no need to leave the hotel on a wet night.

Great location across the road from the station and an east 5-10 minute walk into town. For the money a great hotel with a comfortable bed and good sized room. Staff were friendly. We ate at the restaurant as we struggled to get in anywhere in town without a booking on a Saturday night and the meal was very good. An ideal hotel if you're travelling to/from the train station and the price is good.

Hotel has a nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and is conveniently located with respect to the train station and the centre of Chambéry. The underground parking has a charging station for electric vehicles, which is free of charge.
Only negative point: underground parking can be quite a challenge for larger cars.

Noisy room but not because of the street noise. Our room doors (there were 2 doors) were vibrating every time another client from the same level was entering or going out from this room. During all the 6 nights it was impossible to sleep before midnight and after 7h-7h30 when the cleaning lady was starting her work and was opening the window from the hall.

Hotel was directly across from train station, which was convenient. My room was supposed to have a tub but didn’t, room was not that comfortable and the hotel definitely feels like a budget hotel, so not good value. Folks across the hall were loud and had a dog that barked. Not a great experience after an 8 hour train ride.... Very friendly and welcoming staff at the front desk though, which helped.

This is a well-located hotel with friendly staff and the convenience of free, secure parking (note the underground car park is tiny and very tight). The breakfast was reasobable - nice to have local cheeses available!

The room was fine , though pretty basic.

Overall the hotel was pretty tired. Cracked tiles and broken shampoo dispenser in the bathroom, and in the breakfast room, most of the mugs were chipped.

Average hotel for stopover, great restaurant

When we arrived, we were told we didn't have a room and that the hotel was full (despite having prepaid the room). The receptionist managed to get us one room, which was smelly (cigarette) and not super clean. We had a great experience at the restaurant attached to the hotel. Great food at a reasonable price, nice service and good central location. At the hotel, breakfast buffet was very ordinary.

We needed somewhere close to Chambery station for one night at no great cost. This hotel fitted the bill perfectly. On the plus side there was location, very clean room, friendly staff and a comfortable bed. On the downside the choice and quality at breakfast was below average. Renovation work was also underway with some limited noise and resulting in no bar or restaurant but that was clearly reflected in the price we paid.

We stayed for a 3 night break and found the hotel well positioned for town and sights. The room was spacious, clean and beds comfortable. The 4* rating may be a little ambitious. Parking is useful but a little expensive. Small matter but china cups in room would reflect rating. Some parts of hotel a little tired now. Railway station works could present noise and visual impediments.

Conveniently located in the town centre.

This modern hotel is conveniently located in the centre of Chambery a short walk to the historic old-town with a good range of shops, restaurants and old buildings. The hotel has been refurbished quite recently and is clean and well appointed; it also has some underground parking spaces (Eur16 per day) which is useful as local street parking is limited.
The main railway station is located right opposite the hotel; it is undergoing a major rebuild contract involving demolition and significant site works; this may mean noise and local disruption which may affect your stay, especially if your room is at the front of the hotel.

We booked a two night stay at this hotel which wasn't cheap for room only but we've stayed in several Mercure hotels before & associate them with a quality and stress-free experience. Sadly, this was not to be this time. We paid to park our motorbike For an extortionate €16 per night which increases the total cost and the breakfast €18 is also extremely expensive for a continental affair so we didn't have it. Our room was on an odd shaped corner, which meanyt everything was at an odd angle; there is no desk or dressing table area so you have to use the mirror on the back of the bathroom door or in the bathroom. Tea and coffee facilities were very poor. Two paper cups, no ordinary breakfast tea, just fruit tea & earl grey. Two tiny pots of milk. So we had to go to the carrefour to buy milk and teabags. There was not even a drop left of the shower and hair wash in the shower. After arriving late riding all day, this was the first thing we wanted, together with a cup of tea on a proper cup! So the next day, we left our room at 10am, got back for an afternoon relax at 3pm, to find our room still hadn't been touched. So still no shower gel, dirty paper cups from the day before and bed not made. Finally after 4pm our room was made up. The wooden stirrers that came with the paper cups weren't replenished so making drinks was interesting, using the pencil by the bed! This has been by far the worst stay in a mercure hotel we have ever had and we have stayed in many European hotel

Quiet overnight stop in Chambery

Quiet stopover en route to Alps. We had a comfortable room in this central hotel. The hotel is quiet even though adjacent to the main station. Basement parking is available through charged extra. Tight turns and steep ramps mean that nervous parkers may wish to explore on street parking.

Business fr one day with a bit of sightseeing. Close to shops and restaurants. Limited things to do in Chambery but ok for a half day if at a loose end. Handy for a stopover

On our trip south we had a good room, very comfortable, nice view. Excellent rainwater shower. Express breakfast was perfect for us, but you could have had a fuller spread if you wanted. Convenient for shops and restaurants. Our return stopover was in a room with no real view, a little bit scruffier, but still fine and it was £10 cheaper, so not bad. We would go back en route to Italy. Underground parking is a real bonus - nice cool car in the morning.

I found it good value for money, being a good hotel in a handy location for my needs - very close to the train station, and fairy close to the old town (about 10-15 mins walk). Staff were helpful. Comfortable beds, reasonable size room (I had the most basic room). There were two small negatives for me - if it's a warm day and you want to open the window, then it's a bit noisy (but with window closed it's fine); I was given a disabled-ready bathroom, which meant I had to mop up after my shower (a slight inconvenience).
