Stayed in room 210 and felt very uncomfortable with a window that was facing a 10+ foot wall. It was clean and spacious. The hotel is surrounded with mom and pop restaurants, pharmacy, supermarket and a beauty salon. Property is located approximately 20 minute walking distance from the city center.

The room was very clean and spacious. The staff was nice, except for one lady in the reception. The fridge is very convenient and so is the supermarket across the parking lot. The massage service was amazing and not too expensive.

My family and I really enjoyed the stay. It is a small hotel located within a plaza with ample parking, grocery store, restaurants, gas station, and pharmacy. It was very calm and quiet regardless of the location. The hotel room itself was a good size. The beds were comfortable with a nice size bathroom. Had a sofa and table area for dining in the room with a microwave and fridge. The room was very quiet. We really could've hear much noise, even for the fact that the hotel had many guests and that we were next to the storage room, elevator, and stairs. Staff was nice and helpful.
The location of the hotel to downtown was a bit far. We took our vehicle, which made it easier to travel. Not much area for parking in downtown, so we parked in the parking garage in the tunnels. Made it easier to get to the dowtown shops, since those were within walking distance from each other. There is some much to see and enjoy. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

It has improved much.

Hotel has improved from last time I visited. It is located in a small open plaza with stores of different kinds: supermarket, pharmacy, gym, pizzas and a gas station across the street. It is far from downtown Guanajuato, at the exit towards Dolores Hidalgo. This area is what people in town know as “hotel zone” sharing with more expensive hotels such as San Xavier (formerly Camino Real), Castillo Santa Cecilia and Abadía. The rooms are not luxurious but very convenient. You enter through a smaller room with a kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator and a microwave, as well as a sink (no kitchen or dinning ware). You also have a love seat couch and a small table. There is a door dividing this room from the bedroom with a good closet and a safe. Cable TV, air conditioning, fan, and a terrace with a table (if your room faces the back of the property. The bathroom does not have a tub. There is a restaurant unworthy of trying. Guanajuato has excellent food and this one is overrated.

Its more like a little apartment, i liked how we had a little living room and a huge closet, a microwave, mini fridge and a sink. So spacious . The bed was comfortable, and we even had a balcony. Definitely more than a hotel title. Loved it.

Location wise it is about a 15 minute walk downhill to downtown but walking back it is all uphill and tough after walking all day downtown. There is a bus that stops right in front and is only 8 pesos or around 40 cents. It is the San Javier bus. It is also conveniently located next to a Soriana a large supermarket. The room was spacious and the wifi was good the only issues was that there where cockroaches in the room, we did not have a coffee maker or microwave in our room like all the other rooms. The hallway had a mold smell but the room was ok for the price. The elevator was out of service but we where on the 2ns floor so it was not an issue. We had breakfast there the food was decent the only issues is that the beans where spoiled.

Clean, and has great amenities!

Even though this hotel is not in the historic center, it is an easy taxi/uber ride down. It is in a plaza that also has a pharmacy, a taqueria, and a grocery store. This was my second time staying at this hotel and I appreciate the amenities such as air conditioner, wifi, safe, great water pressure in shower, microwave, mini fridge, kitchenette, seating area with couch and table, and soft mattress. This will always be my go to hotel when visiting Guanajuato!

I'm glad we stayed at this Hotel, it was really, clean and quite and the people were extremely nice. A bit far from downtown but we loved it because it was quite and far from the crowd and convenient and cheap and easy totake the bus, uber or taxi. A plus that had a small refrigerator and microwave, oh and beds were very confortable as well.

Great hotel, nice people but not very well organized. Front personnel booked a tour and did not pass it on to the tour company, and tried to blame them. No apologies were offered. I think they should've offered a complimentary SOMETHING for the horrible experience!

Misleading Hotel and Booking site

False advertisements of amenities, views, and services. There was no laundry services or offered at all. It's located in a shopping center with traffic passing buy and leaving burnt fuel smoke at the on site dinning area. Showers had heavy soap scum on floor tiles and wall tile grout has black mold. Our view of the room was a concrete wall!!!! Meals offered are not worth what one pays. On a positive note, the beds are comfortable. A/C sucks!

We chose this hotel because of the price and the rating, but we will not stay here again. We were given a room with a really awful smell (stinky pipe), I reported this to the front desk and their solution was just to spray some glade on the bathroom and that's it.. room was still stinky. I asked for the Manager who was nice and empathetic and moved us to a new room. We noticed the manager was doing a much better work compare to the staff.

Located on a strip mall, with free parking and public transportation, gas station and supermarket within 1 minute walks. If you want to stay down town this is not your hotel, but for the price and easy accesibility to a down town bus, it's perfect. Clean and good amennities make it a great choice.

One of the few hotels offering A/C in the room. Hotel is about 2.5 mile walk from the city center which I didn't mind since I'm a walker. Taxi is only 40 pesos aka 3 bucks any who. The restaurant is very good \"tried it once\" since I'm more of a street eater. Theres a tour kiosk right in the plaza where the hotel is located, along with a Soriana Super Market which came in helpful since they close late. The rooms have a mini living room on which the WIFI works great, now in the bedroom is not so great but it gets the job done. Apart from that it was a great choice for an hotel and I would return if I had the chance. PS if your doing a \"estudiantina\" aka \"rondalla\" bring your liquour....

Mexico version of Embassy Suites w/o the free brea

This hotel was clean and offered a small kitchenette which we found very useful since there is a local chain grocery store (Soriano) located in the same shopping center. We loved the fact we could walk there each day for fresh fruit and pastries for our room. Available there is an excellent selection of tequila, mezcal, wine, and beer. There is also an ATM there. The room showed some signs of wear however, we found it to be very clean and comfortable. There was a private balcony also but no furniture on it. We just brought out the two wood chairs from our room out there and sat there each evening up on return to our room. There were some oddities, like the bottom sheet that was about 6\" too short for the bed but I had read about that in other reviews and expected it. It did not really bother us.

The lobby is modern and the free wifi worked there for us with no problem but not in the room. We were located at the farthest point though. I have Tmobile and picked a plan that worked for us there. There is a business center in the lobby with a desktop computer to use, free.

There is a restaurant in the lobby and we used it several times. We found the service to be EXCELLENT and the food very good and reasonably priced. We are vegetarians and found a good enough selection. The waiters spoke some English so it was all doable.

We found taking the bus each morning to the city centre to be a breeze. Only 5 pesos which equals about .40 we took a cab back each evening for 45 pesos.

Basic hotel in a strip shopping mall

Was definitely a surprise to find that this functional but modest hotel is located in a strip shopping mall a good 30 to 45 minute walk from the downtown and historic center. Room views are of the mall parking lot or a brick wall. Though the staff was nice, this is likely not a good choice for tourists.

Not really a 93%+ hotel!

Far away from everything - so quiet, but you have to take a taxi for anything and everything. Trying hard to be a class hotel, but maintenance needed - many small thing broken. Hotel staff DOES NOT speak English. Extended stay one night on line with a low rate, but they refused to give me the lower rate saying that when I extended my stay I had to keep my old higher rate. I eventually gave up trying to make that change.

The hotel is clean, quiet and roomy, but it has a strange smell. The Hotel location is far from the town centre. You can take bus outside the hotel to town centre for 5 peso, or take a taxi for 40 peso. Because it is far from town, if I go to Guanajuato again, we prefer to stay in town centre.

I stayed at this Hotel based on the decent reviews I read. Unfortunately, I should have paid more attention to the few bad reviews left on the Hotel. First of all, the address did not include a number, so using GPS, we were lost. Then we asked by the full name, and it only seems to be known as Plaza Mexico. One of the rooms we were given had a weird smell, luckily it wasn't mine and my other family members didn't complain about it too much so They kept it, but I couldn't be in there for more than a min. Then when we flushed the toilet, it let out a very bad sewer smell that filled the room.

Rooms are confortable, spacy, and modern.

The hotel is very confortable, good customer service, good restaurant and very clean. It is modern and the rooms are very spacy. And Bingo, they have a refrigerator!!

Even though it is not right in the center of town, the bus comes by every 12 minutes. They are clean, takes you where you need to go and very affordable. This is the way to get to know a town and its people.

My only suggestion is that they update the shower heads.

The hotel proximity to the Centro is not so far but you must ride in a bus or take your car if you want to go to the Centro. The room doesn't have coffeemaker or water, no hair blower, no safety box. We booked for a Suite King but for such amenities missing it is totally a standard value. The room information from Hotel.com says it has microwave, coffeemaker, hair blower but the actual room didn't have all the amenities. It did not also have even a continental breakfast for such a price. Well, it was holiday season and their price really went up but not being fair to what is advertised I think I would not want to recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel, hidden behind a parking lot

The experience was generally good. My only complaint is they would not give us a room until the 3 PM check-in time. The hotel itself is quite nice and clean. The rooms are of a good size and have a small sitting area in the entrance.
Even though the hotel is nice it's tucked in at the back of the parking lot for a super market. However we always found parking despite it being a long weekend in Mexico.
Overall, the quality was very good for the price we paid.

Power went out a couple times and we did not have wifi in our room during our 2-night stay (other areas in the hotel did have wifi). Front desk said they were working on both. Might add, that it was rainy season and there were times of heavy downpour. I would give this hotel another shot, preferably during better weather conditions.

First, but hopefully not the last visit

Guanajuato is a beautiful city to which I hope to visit again soon. I live in LA, was visiting family in Zamora Michoacan, and decided to take a bus and experience touring this city which I had heard so much about. We purchased a tour of the city at the bus stop for about $15 dollars. We were a little nervous about getting it, but it was an excellent tour on a clean and comfortable, air conditioned van. The tour does not include the cost of entrance to some of the museums, but they are fairly inexpensive. I recommend it.

We arrived on a Saturday morning, had to wait till 3pm to check into the hotel which was an inconvenience. Once we got our room, we took a taxi to downtown. The taxi experience was like the Disney Indiana Jones ride. Our driver drove so fast, non-stop, through the underground tunnels that at times it seemed as thought we were going to straight onto a wall and then turned last minute to drive into another tunnel. We were glad to make it out alive.

Once downtown, we walked the artsy streets. It does not take long to walk the whole place, so it's okay to take your time. The place is full of tourists, this helps to not make you feel out of place. The locals are very kind and friendly. We were able to visit the Diego Rivera house museum. It was nice, if you are a fan, it is a must.

Next time, I am hoping to arrange my visit so that I am able to see a performance at the theater and take a tour to San Miguel de Allende.

You need to take a taxi to the center of town. It is fine if you have a car. Our room had a terrible smell. We assume it was a sewer problem. The hotel staff were very responsive but could not fix the Internet that was down 90% of the time we were there. Hopefully they will find and fix the smell problem.

T single room is spacious to include a kitchenette, with frig, microwave and sink. There is a Soriana grocery across the parking lot. I was disappointed there were no windows. The staff were excellent.

Two Mexico Plaza Hotels in Guanajuato

There ae two Mexico Plaza Hotels in the State of Gto; one in city of Gto and one in Irapuato. Picked the wrong one, but the Expedia guarantee fixed it; got me to the right hotel and transferred my credit to that hotel. very nice.
