There is a gentleman at check in with terrible attitude and no customer service whatsoever. He refused to ask the cleaning lady if the room was ready at 14:50. He said check in is at 15:00 so he doesn’t have to ask. I don’t know why this hotel employ him. His braids fall on his face and I could see his eyes but his attitude is horrible. The room was super hot and no one answers at front desk also very old and needs fixing

The hotel stay was ok. Good location. Easy access with nice views in the mountains around Grenoble. Good access to restaurants and local amenities.

The breakfast cost at locution is much higher than booking online including breakfast. €18 for a very poor selection.
You have to pay extra if cleaning is required.

The staffs were very polite and professional. The area was peaceful and quite no matter what time of the day. Cleaning was exceptional. All questions answered. Views outside of window was fantastic. Excellent for both adult and children as there are parks nearby. Shops were accessible.
Overall, excellent customer service as well as my stay at the Residhome.
One thing to improve - if they could provide more pots in different sizes (more than 2) as well as lids that suit the pot to make cooking variability more better.

The property itself was fine and fuctional however the booking experience was very poor. We requested an infants cot well in advance of our stay however we were told that this could only be confirmed a day before our stay. When explaining how we found this unacceptable, the reply was effectively 'this is our policy, you have a non-refundable room... lump it'. How they regard this as a 'special request'* really is beggars belief when when the booking page confirms there ARE cots available and that they're family friendly. Whilst we appreciate they do not have unlimited child's beds, there was no explanation as to why they couldn't be reserved and we certainly would not have booked here if we were informed they could not be reserved.

And a shout-out to the exceptionally poor experience of Expedia; not only do they say they have no matter in the bookings or refunds (despite we're paying them), but the claimed that for having two adults and an infant a double bed should be 'sufficient' and that the infant should sleep in the bed with the adults. This is certainly against the current advice for safer infant sleeping.

We were confirmed a cot the day before our booking, but we'd gone as far as to contemplate having to buy a cot for the stay... totally unacceptable.

*as if reproduction isn't one of the most basic human functions

Highly recommended!

Perfect apartment hotel for visiting Grenoble. Just a 15 minutes walk to the old centre, and the immediate area is lovely. Parking under the Caserne de Bonne shopping centre is really handy, and you can get a large 4x4 in there (Mitsubishi Shogun)

Make sure you ask if th3hotel have a parking pass available, it reduces the pa4king to €12 per day, but they onlyhave a limited number.

Lovely sized rooms with mezzanine sleeping section, and living area downstairs.

No Parking at the Facilities

Ive got High expectations on this hotel,excited bec,The Picture shows so much space ,that you would think they have parking:but No they don't have parking space!This place is in the middle of the City,then,shopping center,Goverment buildings,Goverment Units flats.The parking is all the wa to the Shopping Center and you have to pay 17 euros per day.so stressfull if you have carhire,you have to park your car all the way to the shop and then go to your hotel 3minutes walk.I don't think its good for people with aged already to put up with this.The Rooms was Clean,Bed was Good,mini kitchen were you can cook.

Close to the centre of Grenoble, this hotel resides in a military barracks that has been renovated. The rooms are large, with a seperate bedroom. Rooms also feature a well appointed kitchen, giving you the opportunity to cook a meal for yourself. There is also a number of restaurants and cafes nearby to choose from. The hotel is well appointed and is worth a visit, very reasonably priced. Somewhat unusual for a hotel, the toilet and bathroom are seperate, a very worthwhile feature.

There was a huge disappointment for us to find out after we have arrived that the rooms are cleaned only once a week!
We didn't have this information in advance. It's not mentioned in the details Hotels.com offer about this hotel. I couldn't find the information on the hotel's website either.
We have two kids - 6 yard old and 7 months old baby. Had we known about the cleaning service we would never booked the hotel. I think anyone with kids, especially wit a baby, would book a hotel room which is cleaned once a week!

Good place to stay

Location and neighbourhood are good, in Grenoble's eco-quarter. Surrounded by park and a square with fountains. Mountains all around. Good modestly priced restaurants, grocery stores and other shopping nearby. Can easily walk to tram lines and buses and the older part of the city. We really enjoyed our two weeks in Grenoble.

We liked this hotel a lot. It was handy for all the sights we wanted to see and had everything and more that we needed, all at a reasonable price. The only drawback for us was finding parking. We used the underground public parking which added 17 euros per day to the cost.

We have stayed here before and will likely stay here again if we were to return to Grenoble. The hotel was nice and the staff were friendly. We did have an issue with the plumbing in the room but when we brought it to the attention of the staff they went to deal with it straight away. The room was on two levels which gave us a sleeping space and a separate living area which was nice.

Rooms are compact, cleverly fitted with small built in kitchenette. clean, service in hotel very friendly. breakfast is very good, albeit a bit expensive. as there is a bakery just outside, (as well as a shopping mall) it's easy to buy freshly baked goods and eat in the room.
the only thing is that the windows are small, and close automatically when raindrops are sensed, so the rooms tend to get quite stuffy and hot, with no possibility of opening even a little bit when raindrops are near the sensors. In summer it must get quite warm! no airco.

Beautiful room with beautiful view. Was ideal and affordable for me and three friends. There is also a great sound system (compatible with old generation iPhones). Good location, especially if you like shopping. The only hiccup was that we had to ask reception for a duvet for the second bed but we received it very promptly. Staff were nice.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel, the room was clean and refreshed daily and the hotel staff were more than friendly! They have parking on offer which costs about 5 euros less per day than the car park charges, and it is in the middle of Casserne De Bonne which is a shopping area.

good clean hotel with a bedroom, living room and small kitchenette. Did not have any windows only roof skylights, so felt a bit claustrophobic, so check what room you have. Good location to shops and local small cafes. Had to park in shopping centre car park, no parking on site. Only stayed for one night as a stop over. Breakfast was sufficient.

Decent place, but the AC in the summer is a bummer

The hotel is a decent place for long term stays. However, if you get a duplex, the upstairs can be very warm because the air conditioning does not reach the upper level. You might end up on the couch down stairs.

The neighborhood is decent, except it seems like everything in the area is closed on Sundays.

The setting in the Alps is absolutely beautiful.

Great Find in Grenoble

This hotel is in a nicely renovated area of Grenoble with many shops and restaurants nearby. The location is ideal for exploring Grenoble on foot. Easy parking located in parking garage next door, there is a parking fee but the hotel provides a discount. Located near to a Monoprix so we stocked the refrigerator for breakfast, lunch and snacks. We reserved a 1 bedroom apartment, our room was clean and spacious enough for 2 adults and 1 child. We did not use the bar/restaurant but the hotel does have one on site. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We used the laundry facility on site which was very convenient.

We chose Grenoble as we wanted to explore the surrounding mountains. Staff were extremely helpful in advising us where to go and how to get there. We managed five fantastic walks in the week. We visited Chambery by train on the Sunday but found most things closed, including the Chateau and the Cathedral - fortunately the Savoie Cup was in Chambery that day and we were treated to a feast of Porches and Ferraris! In Grenoble we used the Bubbles chairlift to get up to La Bastille with wonderful views over the city and surrounding area. Local buses and trams were inexpensive and easy to get around. Although we had a self-catering apartment we ate out every night as the restaurants were plentiful and the food was excellent.

We spent two days in Grenoble in late May. We had a bright two level room (i.e. Bedroom in the loft. Very well appointed room, with a large comfortable bed. Parking was secure but at an extra cost. We used the clothes washing facilities (which were much appreciated) but did not partake in breakfast since we felt it was too expensive. The hotel is well situated and we walked to visit the old centre town. The front desk staff were very helpful. We spoke to them in French so did not evaluate level of English.

Great location and loved the kitchen facilities

We spent 3 nights here and ended up eating in much more than we had anticipated because there are two supermarkets right by the hotel and the kitchen was good enough to prepare decent meals-and there was a corkscrew !
My only gripe is that there was no washing up liquid in the dispenser do we used shampoo then ran out. The room was cleaned but the shampoo/ toilet paper/ body lotion/shower gel wasn't replaced and, as there was only one if each for the two of us and we used it for washing up it didn't go far. Having said that, when we asked for more loo rolls at reception they gave us them immediately.
The hotel is wonderfully located and is on a new Eco square. We could see fish in the pond from our room.
It's very good value for money and I'd recommend it.

I've been to the arcachon and paris residhomes and thdy are all very good value. Very compact room but perfectly clean. Tram station not too far away and very close to Monoprix food shop and a small shopping centre. A short tram ride takes you to the cable car for a nice trip out.

Quiet, spacious suites in perfect location

I have stayed at this hotel several times. The suites of course are considerably larger and more comfortable, with wonderfully high ceilings and tall windows with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The single occupancy rooms on the top floor are much smaller with just one window on the ceiling. On some past stays the rooms, though otherwise very clean, have been a little dusty, but when asked the cleaning service will make an effort. The location is perfect for visiting downtown Grenoble, as well as the new technologsy/business section of town, as well as the train station. There are plenty of shops and cafes right next door, and as it is in the middle of a park it is very quiet. I have stayed at several hotels in Grenoble, the Residhome Caserne de Bonne is by far my preferred hotel in Grenoble.

Don't judge the book by it's cover

When we walked into this hotel I felt like I was in a college dorm. There was only one person working at the desk and he was on the phone. We had to wait at least 10 minutes for him to stop talking and help us, and when he did he acted as though he was doing us a favor. However, the minute we got into our room things changed! A \"home away from home\", the room (more like an apartment) was extremely clean and fully equipped with everything we needed to feel comfortable! Highly recommended.

Romantic with Great view and Location

The location of the hotel is perfect! Its beside of the shopping mall so we could park our car in the underground parking of the mall which cost only 15 Euro per day.
We were amazed by the building itself. Its beautiful and the surrounding area is calm and quiet. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Ms. Kamela at the reception. She is so lovely and helpful. Her friendliness and smile made our day after a long day drive to Grenoble. She checked us in very quickly and super efficient. Ms. Kamela even solved our problem with the room so professionally. We felt so lucky to have her to check us in.
We will be going to Grenoble again in October and for sure we will stay again in Caserne De Bonne.
The view from the room is so amazing with gardens and fountains in front and at the back the high mountains. Thr room is clean and we even have free wifi provided. Lots of restaurants nearby.

A single night stay in this centrally located hotel that occupies a former military quarters. The overall style is cool and very comfortable. The rooms have high ceiling (*really* high ceilings, 5 m at least), with beautiful windows looking over the mountains. In proximity of the shopping mall \"Caserne de Bonne\". The room was clean and well appointed with a kitchen area, dining table, sofa bed, desk and TV in the main area, a separate double bedroom with TV, a large hall with bathroom and separate WC off. Good views of the surrounding mountains from the large windows. The Caserne de Bonne has a small shopping mall adjacent with overnight parking for 15.00 euros. A few restaurants within easy walking distance and a Subway also. Supermarket just 5 minute walk away as well. Reception staff even helped order pizza to our room. Overall a great hotel in pleasant landscaped area. Would definitely return here again.

Has all the facilities of a hotel (towels, toiletries, free wifi) with the space of an apartment (livingroom, bedroom, kitchenette, separate bathroom and toilet). Sure the rooms aren't the largest but they are plenty big enough. Could easily stay there for a number of days without having to be out all day every day.

Flawed Hotel Policies ruin this hotels potential

This hotel is in a great location and the apartments are nice, beds comfy, but this hotel has bizarre policies. The first is that if your stay is from 1-4 nights, then your room is cleaned every day and towels, etc restocked. If you stay longer than 7 days then your room is cleaned once a week. If you stay 5 or 6 days, your room is not cleaned at all. So since my stay was for 5 nights, my room was not cleaned after my arrival. Which is not great if you have a 2y old child and want to maintain a decent level of hygiene. If I'd booked first for 3 then another 2 nights, we would have benefitted from having the room cleaned every day. A very strange policy if you ask me. The second also bizarre policy is that the hotel staff do not keep a master key for the wardrobe safes onsite, it is kept with the hotel director 'for security reasons'. We were leaving on a Saturday and we discovered that our 2y old son had closed the wardrobe safe. Unfortunately the was that it was the weekend and not allowed to disturb the director, they would check the safe on Monday and charge me for forwarding anything that was left in the safe. Fortunately, there was nothing, but it could have easily been our passport, my wife’s wedding ring, etc but this was not an emergency. My advice if you choose this hotel is 1) never stay longer than 4 nights and 2) never check-out on the weekend. We had the same girl on both occasions, and it was like talking to a brick wall.

Rooms for one (or two) people on level 4 aren't as nice as other rooms on lower floors - they have skylights, not windows, so no view, and are a bit cramped. In addition it can be difficult to work out how to use the remote controls for the skylight to get it to open for ventilation or to get the shutter to close for darkness. The air-conditioning (used only because I couldn't get ventilation from the window) also seems a bit erratic. Rest of hotel - indeed other features of room - were really good, though breakfast was a bit of a rip-off

Overall nice, clean, new hotel with very large rooms for European standards, and the staff was very nice. Breakfast was not worth it and there is a great bakery right next door. The fitness equipment was quite poor.

Third time a charm

This was the third time we stayed there over a three-month period. It's a great location, clean, and except for the manager, who can be pleasant or very un-, the staff is good. Couple of downsides--wifi for only one person at a time in the room, one washing machine is always broken, and the gym equipment is okay but could use maintenance. Otherwise, if you're visiting Grenoble, I'd recommend it. We stayed in two other aparthotels there, and one had a much friendlier manager who spoke excellent English (and let us store our bags when we were out of town for a week) and the other was cheaper, but if you want the location and a great view, this one's it.

Don't hesitate to stay here.

For the price, and comapred to previous reviewers this hotel far exceeded my expectations. Excellent front desk agents that spoke english just fine or even quite well. One staff in particular, I believe his name was Cristoff, was fantistic. Room was small but perfectly fine. beds were clean and comfortable with sheets covering a duvet for cleanliness. The kitchen was fantastic and we used it to cook an entire dinner. Has dishwasher and fridge which we used for keeping yogurt bought at the supermarket a block down. One of the most economical hotels in the area, and far exceeded expectations. don't hesitate to stay here.

Good Hotel in a decent location

Good hotel - decent rooms with very high ceilings. Location was ideal - close to the centre (10 min walk). Parked in the shopping centre right next door - big garage with lots of space. Plenty of restaurants and shops right outside the hotel. Bit tricky to find but look for the Parking Caserne de Bonne. Contrary to some reviews the reception were very friendly and helpful.

Great apartment hotel

Very clean apartment hotel in beautifully renovated old building. We arrived by car and it was a little difficult to actually find since it is in a pedestrian precinct. Trick is to park the car in the large public carpark (about 12e per day), then it is easy access from the car park exits. Very good and reasonably priced breakfast.

Hard to find!

If you are driving without a gps, the hotel is very hard to find. It is poorly marked and one half block off the primary street. The map on Hotels.com is also miss leading. Now that I know where it is, I would stay there again. Nice hotel, friendly staff, well appointed room, good breakfast and reasonable price.

Clean, comfortable, and excellent value for money

This aparthotel is excellent value for money. Located a little further out of town, it was nevertheless within easy walking distance of the centre and was easily accessible by public transport. The surrounding area is very pleasant with a number of restaurants and shops just outside the hotel building and a supermarket just a couple of minutes walk away. The apartment was well-maintained, had a fully fitted kitchen and well appointed bathroom. The only issue we encountered with our stay was in the provision of the Wi-Fi - for a two person apartment we were issued with just one code for the internet allowing only one device to be used online during our stay which we were advised to share. For us this was less than desirable, and the advertised free Wi-Fi had been one of the reasons I chose this property above any others. Other than that we enjoyed an excellent stay, and I would gladly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel for family and for business travelers

We have stayed at this hotel right after it was opened last year and it was very nice although there were some construction going on around us. This year, most of the construction was completed and it was quite delightful. The only complain I have about this hotel is that parking isn't so easy especially if you get to the hotel late in the evening. the underground garage gets closed late at night and it opens around 8:30am in the morning.

Great place to stay

We only stayed one night as we were driving from Paris to Rome. This hotel was a clean, comfortable and secure location. Comfortable walking distance to restaurants and nice view of the mountains.

The room and the location were very good but the hotel staff was rude and unhelpful

We stayed at the Residhome Grenoble for 3 nights and the location and studio room were very good. The hotel staff, however, was rude and unhelpful when our car woud not start after checking out and we asked to use their telephone to call the rental car agency. One hotel clerk thought it necessary to lecture us about not being able to use our American cell phones in France. Terrible customer service ruined our otherwise positive experience. We suggest you spend your money elsewhere when visiting the beautiful city of Grenoble!

we'd stayed in two other hotels in Grenoble (Premiere Classe--avoid it unless you like tiny rooms with prefab bathrooms, and Hotel Patrick, which was under construction and not in the \"heart\" of Grenoble like Hotels.com said). This was a pleasure after the other two places--big suite (there were three of us) at a reasonable price closer to downtown than the other two. they had self-serve laundry facilities which was a plus because we'd been traveling all week. It's a business hotel but we felt fine there. I'd recommend it for the amount of space, kitchenette, and decent location. It's a renovated barracks with a big sculpture park outside, and a great view of the French alps.
