Fabulous stay ! After original confusion of room category, which the team handles exceptionally well (thank you !) we had the most wonderful stay. Spent most of our time poolside, great service and wonderful vibes pre carnival.
Reception and concierge team always present and welcoming and warm.

Breakfast was excellent in quality and service (maybe better to use the restaurant downstairs instead on the one on the first floor though as a little dark). Classic ‘old school’ white glove service in a contemporary hotel - great !

Can’t wait to return.

This hotel is beautiful, private, moody and has the best views of Ipanema! The rooftop pool alone is worth the price of the hotel. Such stunning views and very comfortable. The rooms are a bit dark and moody on the courtyard side, but the real charm of the hotel is the Ipanema location and the rooftop. Luciana at the front desk was our favorite and she was so kind to us!

Loud electronic music and party’s going on room long and then early when these guests return to the hotel despite calling front desk for help on this.
Then got a phone call a midnight for towels delivery I never had asked for. Did not sleep well in Sumatra any night there.
Last thing, cleaning personnel left our room door open when they finished till we came back at night. Never again. Got a discount like that would give us the three night without sleeping

Superb hotel in excellent location, right on Ipanema beach, great for relaxing on the balcony with a beer and watching Rio go by. There was a problem with noise caused by fans of a celebrity who was staying at the hotel; the hotel knew we had an issue with this and, although it was not their fault, the managers went above and beyond to keep us happy. Every single member of staff in every department was helpful, polite and a pleasure to deal with.
The Italian restaurant at Fasano's is absolutely divine, fabulous food.

This hotel is extremely overpriced for the surrounding area. Several elements did not feel “luxury”, including the tiny rooms, tiny elevators, low ceilings, mediocre pool service. The room itself is not big enough to lay a checked bag on the floor - anywhere. The low ceilings make the environment feel claustrophobic. The elevators are tiny and slow - only fitting 5 people max with everyone breathing down your neck. The slow service delayed getting up to the room. The hallways were almost too dark to see anything. We checked out on a Sunday and the staff were giving us a hard time about a late checkout, despite no one new checking into the room (and my elite Expedia benefits). I just didn’t feel like I was treated with the respect at any other luxury resort. Unless you are willing to upgrade to ocean view room, do not spend the money to stay here.

Room was solid. Great view of ocean, hotel is in a good location. Beach guys were great getting us organized for a beach day, outside of that the service was lackluster.

The front desk always had four people there in blue jackets and the first time someone acknowledged me or asked how my trip was going was when I checked out.

Th is place just doesn’t screen 5 star luxury, but the price does.

Overall I was disappointed and felt like it was not worth the almost 1,000 usd a night price.

Poor concierge services - they do bare minimum and did not properly explain specifics. For example they recommended we leave without umbrellas to visit museum of the future on rainy day knowing full well taxis/ubers drop off is quite a distance across an open square to the museum (we got soaked). They also told us it was an “easy 15 minute walk” from museum of future to aquarium (definitely not and through a very sketchy area to boot) - fortunately we had decided to Uber at that point. Despite checking in on my birthday and mentioning it to concierge it wasn’t recognized until a small round cake was left in our room 3 days later. Hotel has no bar (was not reopened since Pandemic), staff is not proficient in English and facilities appear worn. If you are looking for quality / class I would suggest avoiding this hotel altogether and staying at Belmond Copacabana Palace.

The best part without hesitation is the rooftop pool area. It has one of the best views in Rio de Janiero overlooking Ipanema beach Otherwise, we loved the balcony in our room which was very quiet and peaceful. The onsite restaurant offers delicious Italian food and the staff always goes above and beyond to help you. I definately plan on staying here again!

A once in a lifetime experience at Hotel Fasano we will never ever forget! We landed in Rio after a red eye at 6 AM in the morning, and despite not being able to check in early, when we returned from our day tour, we were made aware we were granted a room upgrade. As two American honeymooners who had traveled a long way, we were so grateful. We stayed in the most incredible suite with the best view of a sunset over Ipanema beach on our balcony. The staff went above and beyond, decorating our room while we were out to dinner. Other fabulous takeaways: A prime location close to both Ipanema and Copacabana and ocean front, delicious breakfast buffet, and insane rooftop infinity pool for guests to use. You would be crazy not to stay here during your Rio visit! One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Thank you Hotel Fasano!

Stay at the hotel during the summer season, at the beginning of January.
Warm welcome from the staff and fairly clean room but without being faultless. Lots of little bad cleaning and decor finishes. The rooms have a fairly pleasant and rather masculine design, but the materials are damaged. A very narrow entry even if the configuration is rather well thought out. Damaged wooden floors, wooden walls in poor condition. The armchair in the bedroom and the leather bed bench are not maintained so the leather cracks. About half of the hotel's ocean-facing rooms do not face the iconic mountain of Ipanema. We weren't allowed to have one of them. In-room coffee is not courtesy gift. Rooftop: The swimming pool is nice but the resin inside of it blisters all over the place and pulls away. The equipment: Gray and deformed exotic wood chairs. Terrace in an exotic wood, same thing. Poorly stabilized and we jump on our sun-bed as soon as someone passes nearby. No parasol on days when there is a light wind, but in truth as soon as the weather is cloudier. But if the sun comes out, they don't change their minds quickly. Time to take a good sunburn. The gym is pitiful for athletes who like weight training equipment, machines and more. Breakfast: Arrival at 10:30am you are informed that the buffet will be removed and the kitchen closes 15 minutes later. Without be notified when entering the breakfast room and paying 25€/person. The breakfast room doesn't have a window. So no light no sun!

Meh stay…definitely OVERPRICED.

The hotel is trying to be something that is NOT. The location is spot on and it is great! Once cannot argue with that…but for a hotel that is charging as much as it does for a daily rate it falls WAY short from delivering.

The beds are SO UNCOMFORTABLE and TINY for the rooms with 2 beds…it was like sleeping on the floor. Not exaggerating after my week stay I arrived back in the US with sore/back pain. They can do WAY better on the comfort of the beds for the cost.

The decorations are great not only in the rooms but also throughout the hotel.

The rooftop pool is amazing! The view and the location are killers! And definitely enjoy that.

The cost of the hotel food throughout the property is DEFINITELY OVERPRICED for Brazil.

The service is hit and miss…again trying to be a luxury hotel but they don’t have the discipline to act and provide customer service of such luxury or 5-star hotel. Lack of follow thru from staff, had to ask something 3 TIMES before I got an answer…3 days later! Stayed for a week and walked through the lobby NUMEROUS times…barely got greeted by ANYONE! And they always at a minimum had 3 to 4 people standing behind the counter.

The housekeeping staff was AMAZING! No matter who we ran across they always greeted us.

The gym is a JOKE and an EMBARRASSMENT. Honestly, I am SHOCKED they even have that open! Beat up equipment, NO bench, old weights and just plain ridiculous for the HIGH COST of the hotel.

Probably second best hotel to copacabana palace. Everything luxurious with attention to last detail. Food, restaurant and rooms are impeccable. Very pricey! But views are only spectacular from the rooftop pool. Although most rooms have views to the ocean, they’re nowhere as spectacular as the Arena Copacabana or Sheraton or Fairmont or Palace. And the gym is very dismal to pathetic in such a fancy hotel with fancy everything. I still think it’s fancy sophisticated glamorous with beach service and they spoil you to the last detail. Food is amazing did I say that and the spa is spectacular

Nice hotel but not really with the price

The hotel itself is very nice however two things really annoyed me. We arrived well after the check in time and we still kept waiting for half an hour before we received the keys to our room. The rooftop pool was also closed for an entire day for urgent works during peak season. The works that appeared to be happening was repainting the pool. I am not sure why this was so urgent. The service at the pool was also hit and miss.

This was my 3rd time at fasano. The hotel is just wonderful in general, mostly for the facilities and the vibe. But this time i was very disappointed with the service. First on Christmas night, the music from the bar was very loud into the room. I called to complain and the concierge said he would find out and call me back but he never did. I couldn’t sleep for 2hours. The next day I’m inviting to bring a guest to enjoy the pool with me in the hotel but the hotel reception declined specifying that pool is restricted to hotel guests. I then find out throughout my stay that several “guests” enjoying the pool are not even guests of the hotel but just people who were invited by a PR lady named Paula and have basically no connection to the hotel. Lastly, after that trouble, i ask to extend my checkin by an hour but got declined.

This is a beautiful property on which you are almost guaranteed to encounter tropical wildlife simply by walking around. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is superior. The suites are huge and have beautiful views. There are a (very) few negatives for some travelers. Room service is not available 24 hours and the.property is on a steep hill requiring some climbing that is doable for most (I believe the hotel offers transort to its facilities if requested).

The location is unbeatable, the rooms are spacious and well decorated. Service is not up to scratch - lots of smiles and simpathy but lack of attention in the details. As a hotel that tries to position itself as one of the best, it lacked a bit on delivering the basics. Examples:
Shower without pressure, newspapers delivered after 10 am, lack of attention of the staff in the swimming pool, resulting in having to wait longer than necessary to get service. In one particular ocasion we felt not wanted as the waiter was trying to tell us he wasn’t sure someone was already sitting at the table we chose, based on no particular sign of occupancy.

Gorgeous hotel worth the money!

Gorgeous hotel with a fantastic location close to Copacabana, Ipanema, & Leblon. The only downside was that they embarrassed me & humiliated one of my friends who lives in Rio when I went to meet her downstairs, as we went upstairs they stopped us as the elevator door was closing to pull her aside to ask her to copy her identity document at the front desk. This isn't so common for 5 star hotels but I know it's common in the lower category hotels. Also, they had the opportunity to do this while she waited for me in the lobby but they waited until we were in the elevator, too late and embarrassing. Also, their late checkout policy seems really uneven as some people we knew who were at the hotel got late checkouts and others didn't. However, all in all the service is good, pretty friendly and the hotel is gorgeous. The wifi isn't very strong if you need it to work, but it is functional. You have to visit the pool on the 8th floor for one of the best views of Ipanema, I don't think there are many hotels in Rio with oceanfront balconies in this area so it really makes the hotel worth it, and the beds are super comfortable.

I’ve traveled to nearly every US state and about 20 countries and this is quite possibly the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. Superb location, service, class, beauty, food. The rooms aren’t extremely large, and it doesn’t matter one bit because of how beautiful and classy they are. The televisions have all streaming apps loaded onto them which is a rarity in South America. The room service is spectacular and open 24 hours. The hotel is in literally the best beach spot in all of Rio. The concierge desk is tremendously knowledgeable about every restaurant and spot in town and also very courteous. They will arrange a car or taxi for you to go anywhere, anytime and will even assist with purchasing your ticket if you are headed to an event. The rooftop pool and bar is breathtaking. I could go on and on. It is exactly everything a 5 star upscale experience should be. If it is within your budget to stay at Fasano, do it. Period. The end.
