The staff were very friendly and accommodating as we arrived well before our check in time. They secured our luggage and let us use a common area to change and spend some time outside the hotel until the rooms were ready. The breakfast was better than expected, the rooms are small and beds a little hard. The elevators are also extremely slow and small for the size of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again based on location and price.

The stay was a good price. Good for late night check in. Close to posto 6 in Copacabana. Grocery stores and good cafes all around. Safe area. Very nice front staff. Roof top is beautiful with a great view! I only put 4 stars because the dust that was on the decor in my room was a lot. If you’re looking for a cheap stay close to everything this is it.

All is great. Breakfast is awesome. Service is incredible. Location is not the best because outside you can't really walk on this street after it gets dark, but you can always uber 5 Mts or walk 10 Mts to Ipanema Beach. I'm just not a big fan of Copabana Beach. The pool is awesome.

Rooms had a weird smell in them. Towels seemed very old and bed sheets were not very clean.

Room was very spacious and overall not bad. Ideal if you're not going to be in the hotel for most of the day. Lobby is nice and staff were very nice and cooperative.

The location of this property is prime for near by restaurants and walking distance to the beach and shopping areas. I would also like to recommend that if you can, get a room with a balcony. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful.

It could use an upgrade though. There are no irons, ice machines or microwaves.

This property was not like the pictures shown on Expedia it was definitely not checked out by Expedia because had they checked the property they would see the pictures do not match it’s about two blocks from the beach not on the beach and it is very run down very poor almost like a hostile . I immediately checked out and went to the Marriott I did not stay at this hotel even though I paid

Minha chegada não foi muito afetuosa ! A recepcionista foi super rude , me fez esperar até as 14h em ponto para meu check in. Normalmente por delicadeza os hotéis quando chegamos cedo , eles por cortesia deixam o hóspede fazer o check in antes!
Mas o ponto mais alto foi ela ter me colocado em um andar onde estava em obras e o meu quarto com um cheiro super forte de tinta fresca. Inadmissível isso!

The posto 5 hotel was under construction, so they moved me for the other unit, that was nothing compared to the pictures, nobody email/call/text to inform that the hotel was in construction, the breakfast was ok, the pool is super small, overall it was nice, I could definitely stay another time.

We had two rooms for four nights but left after two due to a number of issues including:
Cockroaches (3) in the kids’ bathroom which management put down to rain
Nasty smell in rooms and corridors
Dated furniture and bathrooms; intermittent air con; rooms facing street very noisy (we moved rooms twice)
I think it’s worth paying a bit more (we moved to Windsor Plaza - great). Note that Ipanema seemed to be the better end of town; or the other end of Copacabana was good (Hilton/Windsor Plaza).

Just a holiday, but something I couldn't afford without doing a little work, and taking care of business at home.
Because of this I was really annoyed to find that this hotel actually has no wifi in the rooms.
Very poor wifi was sometimes available near the reception desk.
Because of this I spent several full days in the hot, dark and humid lobby, trying to use the internet there. Eventually I also spent a very long night at an internet cafe, which incidentally cost me more than a night's stay in the hotel. Normally I would do my personal and work internet, plus further holiday check-ins etc. each night before going to bed. I'm very peeved that so much of my daylight holiday time had to be taken up trying to negotiate this hotel's dodgy internet.
The cherry on the cake: one booking that I failed to check on time meant a trip to my departure airport, Santos Dumont, which is about an hours walk from the hotel. On the way back I was robbed and lost all my vital info, cash, credit cards, phone, computer tablet, camera gear and of course all the photos from this and several previous countries.
I don\"t understand why this and many other hotels don't just charge guests an extra 50cents per night, and give them decent internet. If they're advertising online, they should expect their guests to be using computers etc for further holiday bookings, and for business and personal use during their stay. In the lobby I saw many other guests come in with the same complaint

The location was perfect ! 5 min walk to the beach, stores, restaurants, and Metro !!
Amazing roof top pool ! Rooms are small but that’s all you need , most of the time it was just for sleeping and cooling off. Loved this hotel.

Olympic Games Room in a Pinch

I needed a hotel during the Olympics and most were either sold out or horribly over-priced (I used to go to Rio for business a lot and know the Ipanema/Copacabana area well). I found a window-less room at this hotel for under USD 250/night during the 2 stints I needed a hotel during the Olympics. As such, it was good value considering price inflation during the Games and I knew that going in. Having said that, the safe in the room didn't work, the bed/pillows were uncomfortable, the bathroom wasn't great (shower was), and the floors could have used a solid mopping/polishing. The free breakfast was good, and the wi-fi was fairly reliable. The staff was friendly and it's in a good location 1 block from the beach. So I wasn't disappointed given the extenuating circumstances, but any other time of year you can get a better hotel, better room, ON the beach, for less money than I spent on this visit.

Stayed for two nights and used the great location to explore the city. rooms are fair, nothing special. the roof-top pool is a plus with great views over Copacabana.
Hotel staff could be a bit more service orientated I think. Still everyone was polite but speed and efficency of service can be improved.

Hotel was in a great location, we found a giant cockroach on my bed as we came back and the reception desk just apologized, it took us a while to kill it at the am hours, not fun when you are so sleepy and of course you cant sleep with it in your room.
The breakfast was good. They were prompt to clean the rooms. pool was nice area.
Couldn't bring friends over as the front desk told me I would be charged $100 per person that came by, and they were not staying over, never heard of that policy in any hotel and not happy about it

This hotel is a 3 star at best!

This was probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in but then its always 5* for me. The overall decor of the hotel was dark and depressing and the lift doors would stick. The staff were never enthusiastic in anything they did, I had to ask twice to be moved to a room which had proper working air conditioning. The hotel charge to use safe in the room at a daily rate and when I asked to borrow a plug converter they said they were not available through the hotel and I would have to go down the street and purchase one! To make matters worse the wifi connection was cutting out and very slow. Oh and breakfast was basic as they come and when I asked for ketchup they gave me two small sachets and no they were not heinz.

I will not recommend this hotel . So dirty !!! Check in took forever. The room was dingy. The TV didn't work. Lots of loud, obnoxious guests were running around all night (a Tuesday!). The bed was uncomfortable. The A/C wouldn't get cold. No screens on the window / sliding door. WiFi barely worked (my 3G was way faster). I wouldn't stay here again for free!

The hotel is a block away from the Copacabana beach and easy walking distance from the Cantagalo metro station. The breakfast buffet was great, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities are a bit old and can use an upgrade, but we enjoyed our stay and would go there again.

I stayed for 4 nights to attend a conference. Located in the south end of Capacabana, which was not as nice as I expected. Many closed shops within a few blocks from a hotel, and the number of good places to eat is very limited. While I decided to stay to save $30-40 a night, I would choose to stay in Ipanema just because of the neighborhood. I was also VERY DISSATISFIED W/ THE ROOM I was given. Room 202 is the lowest floor, facing Av. Ns. de Copacabana, where buses and other vehicles make noise throughout the night. And the large windows did not close completely. As a result, I could not sleep for the first two nights. Receptionists didn’t respond to my request after the 1t night--either fix the windows or change the room. Saying \"rooms on the other side are not nice because you don't have a view\", they kept discouraging me to change the room. Only after 2nd night and repeated requests, they switched my room--more quite and better-maintained. I felt that they gave me the worst room. Because of this reason, I would never go back to this hotel. Either room has a A/C which makes a large sound. The breakfast is fine, and is available from 6am, which is convenient. The internet is not available in a guest room; the internet available in the lobby is VERY SLOW, and the computers for the guest use are also SLOW with blocks for many non-Portuguese sites, and useful for international travelers. Cleanliness of a hotel was decent, but was just OK for my room.

We found the hotel to be lacking in almost everything. They used foam for matresses. Air conditioning worked but barely cooled the room. Wifi and internet didn't function well at all.
Breakfast was great!
Area was low class and security somewhat risky.
Price was high for what was reported for room details. Taxi service to area and regions are expensive.

The hotel is in a great location, close walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, metro station etc. The room was clean and comfortable, but very outdated (along with the rest of the hotel) and was pretty expensive for the quality of the hotel, but this was one of the cheaper options during the middle of Carnival. Breakfast was great with plenty of options including cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, juices etc. The rooftop pool was great to cool off and enjoy a beer at the end of the day with some amazing views of Copacabana! The staff were also very friendly and helpful and spoke good English.

Worst Hotel stay ever

This hotel is the worst I have ever stayed in.
The reception Ac leaked water onto the front desk.

I checked into my room and the first flush of the toilet spilled water all over the floor. The water closet seat overflowed with water. I had to call room maintenance to start cleaning the room as well as fix the toilet seat.

The bedsheets smelt of some sulphur like odour.
The room was also mosquito infested. I had to check out the next morning and treated myself for malaria to forestall any illness afterwards.

This hotel is very poor for 181 dollars per day.
Will never recommend such a hotel.

For almost $200 a night, this hotel leaves a lot to be desired; for one, the air conditioning dripped water onto my head right there when I was checking it at the reception desk. When i got to my room, a dirty towel had been left in the shower. Moreover, this must have been a smoking room as there were some burn marks on the furniture and damages to th floor tiles.
The only saving grace were the spectacular views, the roof top,swimming pool (albeit very small) and the proximity of this hotel to the beach. I would not assign 3 stars to it though and thus I checked into a 4 star for the next two nights which actually was only half the price, had a much bigger from and bathroom and also had a rooftop swimming pool and the view of Christ the redeemer statue as wellmasmthe proximity to the Copacabana beach.

The hotel is nicely located just behind Copacabana beach, in the southern zone pretty close to Ipanema. The staff are friendly and helpful. However, the internet facilities were dreadful -- the wifi signal was impossibly weak in my room and ethernet cable they gave me simply didn't work. Additionally the 'fitness room' was a joke, with four barely operational CV machines, a pec deck and a few small-end weights. As gym and internet are the two things I'm most likely to use in a hotel, this left me very frustrated. But if these don't matter to you, it's a very pleasant reasonably-priced (for Copa) hotel.

I'm very satisfied with my stay at copacabana rio hotel. First of all, very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, perfect location between copacabana and Ipanema beach. Minutes away from metro. Tons of good restaurants around. Close to shopping area, well and everything else. Only one discomfort was is that wifi signal was very weak in my room, but this is very minor.

Copacabana Rio: Good Comfort for Great Price

Copacabana Rio is located only 1 block from Avenida Atlantica/Copacabana Beach and within a 10 minute walk to Ipanema Beach: the location is great. The room comfort/cleanliness and overall style are good, simple, nothing spectacular, but their breakfast and WiFi are included, there is a bar, a small gymnasium and really nice rooftop pool/bar for some lovely evening views of Copa. All great value for the dollars spent!

Great location!

Hotel located between Ipanema and Copacabana Beach. Very polite and helpful staff, great roof top pool, sauna and excersise room. Fantastic breakfast bar with hot food. Few blocks away from Metro and close to many points if interest.

Outdated hotel in fantastic location

The location of the hotel a block away from the beach and the vibrant Copacabana location is the best part about it. However, it's decrepit condition leaves much to be desired. The amenities and decor look like they have not been updated for about 30 years. Fine, if you are spending no time at all at the hotel. It is relatively clean, although there was a thin coat of dust on the floor when I arrived. Sheets were clean, though, and bathroom tolerable. I would not stay here again, but unfortunately it is one of the few relatively affordable options in the neighborhood.
