For the price I was expecting to find the property in better conditions. It was still pretty good, but a few items could have been better, like the air conditioning wasn’t turning down or up, it was always the same intensity. We also had a couple of issues with the safe, bit these were taken care by maintenance. The location of the hotel is a big plus, close to mane great local restaurants. Staff was great during the whole stay. The views from the room and the roof top is amazing.

Everything about this hotel was fantastic and exceeded my expectations. Perfect location. Excellent amenities. Gorgeous pool, views and spacious rooms. Easy access to beach and beach amenities. Friendly staff, easy access for Ubers/taxis. Noon check-out with luggage storage and continued access to beach/pool/spa. Highly recommend and wish I’d been staying more than only two nights!!!

This hotel is in a prime location with incredible beach access and overall strip access. We enjoyed the private section of the beach, the rooftop pool, onsite gym and even the sauna.

We traveled with another couple and really took advantage of the amenities.

Our original room had some issues and we were quickly upgraded to a newly renovated room which took us from a full ocean view to a partial ocean view, but incredible view of the city and favelas.

The staff was truly wonderful. Special shoutout to Diana who quickly took care of our room situation and assisted us with a late checkout since our flight is a red eye.

We will definitely be back.

The view of Copacabana Beach was spectacular! The view of the city and even Sugar Loaf in the distance. Roof top bar/restaurant very nice too, right next to the infinity pool. We had room 2007 on the 20th floor. Breakfast buffet excellent too! Lots of items.

Room was adequate, didn’t like the shower cubicle, as it filled while you showered so you had limited time in there. The room needs refreshing for the price but on the other hand the sea view was priceless. Staff lovely and position of hotel excellent

Booked this place with regards to enjoy my birthday celebration and all I can say is that my Ocean front view checked out all the boxes! Victoria at the front desk was extremely helpful at initial check in. The rooftop bar and pool were a nice addition. Will definitely be back.

This hotel is extremely dated. The smell of the hallways were terrible. The rooms were very old and outdated. They had to change my room about three times because there was mode in the first round where the air conditioner was the second round the mold was in the bathroom. The drapes were very stain. I have pictures of everything where it look like it was either beer, bugs or sand residue, but it scared me very much. The best part of the hotel was a rooftop, but it was completely overcrowded every single day. Great location Black overall, I definitely wouldn’t stay there again.

The entire experience was awful. Hotel rooms were average and despite being eligible for a free room upgrade with my hotels.com status it was not granted. Staff were unfriendly and service was terrible. Had to request things like someone to clear drain in shower multiple times and wait over a day. Would never recommend. Complained so many times and manager was never available.

The customer service at this hotel from front desk guy Gabriel who barely speaks any English was unacceptable. He was very rude, dismissive, and showed no interest in resolving issues. It felt like guests were a burden rather than valued customers. For the price paid, I expected much better treatment. I will not be returning. This guy Gabriel was extremely unprofessional. His tone was rude, his body language was dismissive, and he seemed annoyed by simple questions. This is not the level of service anyone expects when staying at a hotel. First impressions matter, and this one was very disappointing. I will be taking the time to post this same review on every existing booking website. This guy Gabriel shouldn’t be working with customers at all… bad business.

Took them a couple requests for our room to get cleaned but other than that a wonderful hotel stay and such a prime location. The hotel sticks out on the strip as one of the highest buildings and the prettiest pool + views

The hotel's location is excellent, with easy access to restaurants and the beach, which is very convenient. The staff were friendly, supportive, and professional, and I felt very safe during my stay.

However, the hotel itself feels quite outdated. The rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and the building itself need renovation. The bathroom, in particular, did not feel very clean and could use significant updates.

Overall, while the location and staff are strong positives, the property would greatly benefit from renovation and modernization.

This hotel is not service oriented at. Checkin takes long. We were on the wrong line because there is no indication to checkin in lounge if you have a suite. Found out AFTER I made the line. Rooms are not released till checkin time 3 pm. Many people from international flights waiting in small reception area. The room was dirty when we checked in and the next day when we returned around 5:30 pm room was not done. I complained to manager and he said to just call when I want room done. Room is very outdated. The VIP Lounge is small and you’re not allowed to take anything out. You must consume it there even water! Elevators take long. We had breakfast at the restaurant on top floor which has a great view of Copacabana. I could never get my eggs medium well. Always too done or over easy. Bacon is barely cooked always had to request to take back and make crispy.

Warning, Warning - Hotel under construction and noise is terrible. They are doing construction on the 3rd floor best I can tell and this jack hammers and banging rises up through the floors. Originally I was on the 7th floor but then moved to 12th floor. The noise is still there but not as bad. On Wednesday night at 7:00PM the noise was still there. The building is 30 floors with the pool and one restaurant on that floor. The noise is not heard on this floor. I had mentioned to staff about the noise and that disclosure should be made on the booking engines but little resulted. Very poor situation. On top of this there are two elevators out of 6 that didn't work and in a giant hotel like this the number of people moving is incredible so people are regularly riding in the wrong direction just to get into an elevator after waiting on floors without air conditioning. Just too crowded for any form of relaxation anywhere you go in this property. Will give it a pass next time and go elsewhere.

The breakfast menu was fresh but remained the same everyday, with high made breakfast a tedious affair because of the low protein options available daily. I had an excellent ocean view. The beds were a little tired and lumpy, but I have learned that they are updating the rooms. The venue is perfect for those wanting to enjoy Copacabana as it's almost centrally to the stretch

Our room had no air conditioning and the toilet did not fully flush. We checked in a 4 pm and no additional room that was ready could be found or was looked for until 11pm and that room was not made up and in horrible state. No one looked at the AC until 9:30 pm when we were told they would at 7pm. There were no chairs for the table in the room and the balcony door would not close fully. We had to wait until the next day for a new room. We asked for a fan to help us sleep which was brought up but it was full of dust! We did get a better room although for the hot water in the shower to work you had to turn the tap on for 10 minutes and then it came out. Disappointed and we were promised compensation but in the end they gave us $30.00 off some food and drinks we purchased.

The Othon Palace is perhaps the best value luxury in Copacabana. The hotel is located on Atlantic Ave directly across from the beach yet strikes a balance between catering to all travelers with top spa services, steam sauna, rooftop infinity pool, restaurant and bar --while also providing a convenient and fulfilling buffet breakfast everyday. The hotel staff really go above and beyond to make staying here a special experience. The sushi restaurant and bar at the ground floor is also superb.

Staff was polite and attentive. My mom's high blood pressure was a little high one night, and they asked about her everyt night, and insisted on checking her blood pressure again.

The bar Wave, across the street, should improve the mechanism to make sure ONLY hotel guests are admitted as advertised.

A couple of housekeeping ladies asked for tips, but the Front Desk gathered all the information to address the issue.

Room was a bit dated and needed modernization. But overall I really enjoyed this hotel, I upgraded to a junior suite and the view of Copacabana beach is phenomenal. Staff at lobby bar were really good and helped us to watch the football on the tv at the bar.
Overall great stay and would definitely recommend.

Terrible customer service, checking takes too long. Had an issue with the room AC leaking and front desk employees gave me the run around. Breakfast buffet area too small to accommodate large amounts of guests, no enough sitting areas. Bathroom shower had mold on both inside and outside wall.

Hotel overall appears to be dirty and run down. Buffet breakfast location is too small for the hotel capacity. Stayed for 6 nights, room AC started leaking my husband went to the reception since no one was picking up the phone. He was advised that maintenance will be sent to the room to check out the AC and water leak, waited over an hour and a half and no one showed up. Retuned to the reception and staff at front desk indicated she couldn’t be of assistance that she was only a reception employee. Bathroom had mold on the walls and was not properly maintained. Pool bathroom smelled like a wet dirty diaper had exploded in there. This hotel is selling you just a view, safe yourself a headache and find other accommodation while in Rio.

We go to the hotel, somehow the lady at the check in took forever to check us in and didn’t say a word. The people next to us arrived later and was checked in way before and the guy gave them a ton of info. She gave sus the literally worst room, with a weird smell and everything. After complaining to the other guy, he was nice enough to change the room. At this point it was already midnight. When getting ready to finally sleep, while washing my face, I turned on the mirror and almost got myself unalived due to the electric shock, the thing exploded.
Finally someone at customer service in the hotel contacted me and sent someone to fix some of the things.

The location is great, the rooms are a disgrace. The pool is very nice but with such limited space and the beach is also with limited space and you need to rent your own chair/umbrella.

I visit Rio 2x year for the last 30 years. I always stay at the Rio Othon Palace and received VIP upgrades but for the last several years I have not received VIP upgrades. I don't know if the hotel no longer offers it or if Expedia has this erroneously advertised. Check in used to be on the 22nd floor but not any longer. Great hotel otherwise.

My only concern is with communication from Othon. According to the Othon we page and Othon app, the front desk is 24 hours. But according to the email I received from them they say the check in desk closes at 11:30pm. Which is it?

Since our flight was arriving late I thought I would confirm that the check in desk would be open. I tried calling, I tried email, I tried chat on the Othon app, I tried WhatsApp. I got no response (zero) from anyone at Othon on none of these communications channels.

Turns out the desk is open 24 hours, which is great but why does the email say something different and why didn't anyone answer my question?

Overall it was an okay experience. Some staff in the VIP check in room were harsh and rude. For our entire stay which was 3 nights, they only provided 2 espresso capsules and 2 paper cups. Anything beyond that was for purchase. Cleaning service was poor, nothing was done practically. Location was great. Rooftop restaurant was amazing.

I requested and paid for 2 twin beds as we are over 6.2, but got smaller single beds. When i approached the service desk and communicated my concerns, nothing was done nor was i offered any sort of apology nor compensation. We spent 2 uncomfortable sleeps and to make matters worse, your buffet breakfast was horrendous! The only saving grace was your rooftop and location!

This hotel is very dated. My room was tired with a broken socket, a TV that could only be turned off by unplugging it, an uncomfortable bed with a single sheet that was too small for the bed and a door that didn’t close out the noise.
Check-in took a long time, despite being asked to fill in details in advance, and check out wasn’t much quicker.
Showed pressure excellent, sushi restaurant a real bargain.
