Double rooms are very small and boxy , lighting is very dim. Aircon positioned on top of the bed and filter wasn’t clean so I got a cold. The staff are friendly although upon checking in very unresponsive was dragging suitcases myself through the double doors after asking for help severally. Location is great and breakfast is lovely.

My friends and I recently had the most fabulous stay during my birthday visit and I can honestly say it exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcomed. The entire atmosphere of the hotel made us feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable throughout our entire visit, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
What truly stood out was the staff. Every single team member we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. It’s clear that the staff takes great pride in making sure guests have a wonderful experience, and it absolutely shows.
One team member in particular, Victor, was truly a highlight of our stay. His kindness, attention to detail, and positive energy made such a difference. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, and his hospitality really elevated the entire experience for our group.
Overall, this was such a memorable stay for me and my friends. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming, safe, and comfortable place to stay. I’m already looking forward to my next visit and will definitely be staying here again.

The hotel was centrally located with walking distance to Copacabana beach, shopping and restaurants. The room was very small and the bathroom was very cramped. The hotel had very basic amenities and seemed like a 3 star hotel. Breakfast area was nice, overlooking the beach, but breakfast options were very limited.

Arrived very tired and had a long wait until 2pm check in, we needed to sleep however there was drilling from the building attached which prevented us from catching up on sleep. The receptionist knew we wanted to sleep so why place us next to a building site!!!!
Breakfast was very nice. Only complaint would be there was no cold milk for the cereal.
Room was very small so lived out of the suitcase.
We chose to open the window and close the blackout blind to not only save using the air on whilst out but to keep the room cool. When we got back EVERY day the cleaner would close the windows and open the blackout blinds so our room was stuffy and boiling upon our return.
The hotel is ideally situated for all the city amenities and staff are very approachable.

Everything was brilliant! The room was great and had a beautiful view of the Copacabana Beach. The staff were so friendly, it was hard not to chitchat with them. Swimming pool is on the smaller side, but it has a beautiful view of Copacabana and an outdoor bar with lots of seating spaces. Just wanted to shoutout the staff once more - my husband was dying to go to the Flamengo Libertadores match and they did it all to find us tickets! What an experience it was! So thankful to all of you amazing staff people!

The room was small, it felt like i was in a pod. It was an expensive room so i was expecting something nicer. The breakfast wasnt too bad except the morning I was eating scramble eggs and felt and herad a crunch. The chef threw the egg shells in. I wish i had stayed at the hilton instead.

From the time we arrived, until the time we checked out, our experience was incredible! All the staff from housekeeping to the wait staff on the 15th floor were accommodating & hospitable. The true rock stars of our stay were Shirley and William at the front desk. They went above and beyond to make are stay as comfortable & safe as possible. Every day we were always greeted with a smile. EVERYONE that we came in contact with is now considered family! Best customer service EVER!

I recently stayed at the Ritz Copacabana for 5 nights.
The location was very convenient. It was easy access to the beach, restaurants and ubers.

The hotel itself was very dirty.
The towels were dirty
The floor was dirty and turned my feet black.
The shower water had very low pressure
The hot water didn't work well

The property was nice, it just needs better upkeep.

Glass doors and walls in all bathrooms

Beautiful modern and friendly in a great location BUT all rooms have glass doors and walls on the bathrooms. We moved and upgraded rooms to get one with opaque glass at least (staff were very helpful but I suspect we were lucky because it was low season and there were options). Even in that room there was poor design - no actual bathroom just a loo cubicle and a shower cubicle in the room. Sadly it would stop me from returning.

The hotel is very close to Copacabana beach, just a block away. This is most convenient to enjoy the beach.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Overall the breakfast buffet is also very nice.

On the minus side, there is too much street noise in the night. Though I'm unsure how this problem can be solved.

Good location for Rio short visit.

This location is very good. Walk a few minutes to the main beach that stretches 2 miles one way. It's safe to walk during the day and at night. There are lots of restaurants around. The wifi is also fast enough for work. Breakfast could be improved. They serve the same thing almost every morning.

I recently stayed at the Ritz Copacabana and, unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. While the hotel is conveniently located in Copacabana, the overall experience was underwhelming.

The rooftop pool is extremely small with very little shaded space, making it difficult to enjoy during the day. The staff was not particularly attentive, and this was especially noticeable at the buffet breakfast, where the team never greeted guests or made any effort to be welcoming. Additionally, the hotel failed to mention ongoing daytime construction, which was disruptive.

Another major downside is that the hotel charges for everything—even basic amenities like coffee and water, which felt excessive given the price. While the property was clean, the overall experience was lacking in hospitality and value.

For the price, I would have chosen another hotel. I would not recommend the Ritz Copacabana and definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

Just a basic hotel in Copacabana, not 4 stars as advertised. Barely 3 stars. Very close to boardwalk, relatively clean. Beds, pillows, sheets were terrible, that's why I gave it 2 stars for comfort. Has A/C, fridge., coffee maker. Everything costs though, even water, all your coffee pods.

We loved staying at the Ritz Copacabana for 8 days during Christmas break, it’s the best location to get to all attractions and felt really safe at all times of the day and night. The staff at Ritz are incredible and took personal care of our family, they helped with all our chaotic situations like lost luggage, holding suitcases on the day of leaving etc. Special thank you to Victor, he is awesome!!!!

Awesome room for the price, but needs an upgrade in service - tried to get lunch one day as only one in the restaurant and it took 45 minutes to get a drink. Breakfast is ample with normal service. Rooftop, which has a slick design and amazing views, closes at 9:00 pm (sharp!), which doesn't make sense in such a vibrant city. TV did not work for 2 days and no one knew how to restart cable, etc. Very noisy corner all night long as you get later in the week. All in all, would stay again with service upgrades.

Hello! The property was great. Good area - many places to eat and drink. The beach is minutes away. The staff at the front desk were nice. However, we tried eating at the hotel restaurant and no staff was available. They looked at us and did not offer a seat. I asked for assistance and the staff said wait a minute. We proceeded to wait 10 minutes another staff member looked and walked away. We left unhappy and unwelcome and had dinner some place else. Would I come back - no.

UNPLEASANT front fest morning girl… rude and unprofessional. The Hotel is an apartment building turned into hotel. Pictures are deceiving , the pictures are from few years back … meaning nothing is up to date. This “hotel” should be at max 3 stars , price wise should be not more than $75 USD. Looking for real hotel in copacabana, must go with big brand such as Hilton and on. The Valet kid at the front very professional and helpful and also the guy with a tattoo at the front desk very professional.Hotel need major upgrades

We got misled by the name Ritz. This is a very old property and possibly never recovered from the neglect after covid. We had booked two nights but they were nice to let us check out after 1 day. The pricing is high and the pictures so misleading that we were excited that it’s a Ritz property. Possibly our mistake.

My only negative experience was with the bartender at the rooftop pool in the evening who was completely unfriendly and had a bad attitude every time I encountered him despite me being friendly. He stood out because everyone else on the staff was so kind and helpful.

Location and price is great. Does not really have a view like shown on pictures. Also, only one key card which make it impossible to leave the AC on and have a cool fresh room after a day at the beach. Room service had to be requested. Coffee prices were shown but not bottled water. At the end we paid 35 usd for 21 small bottles of water, which was ok just that should be clear that there is a charge just like the coffee. Otherwise very pleasant staff.

Absolutely fantastic stay at Ritz. I would certainly recommend the Ritz to anyone wanting to go to Brazil.

Staff spoke english, always friendly and helpful. Room was super clean, great air conditioning and safe.

Breakfast each morning was delicious, many options. Theres a daily detox juice that is a must try. The restaurant has huge windows that overlook the neighborhood and amazing views of the beach!

As a single female traveling alone I felt extremely safe at this building and surrounding area. The hotel is very quiet and beautifully stylish.

Hotel is on a quiet street - drugstore and supermarket and of course the beach are all a 5 min walk away. Which I felt completely comfortable doing so alone.

I loved the beach so much I didn't get a chance to go up to the pool! I totally forgot!! But I will most certainly come back.

The only thing I would say is that I was disappointed the hotel restaurant was closed before 8pm on a Saturday when I was told it was open until 10pm earlier that day.

It's hard to know where to start complaining about this stay. First, for a hotel of this value, not having a parking lot is deplorable. Having to leave the car on the street subject to Rio's scammers was one of the things that made the rio/ritz experience even worse.

Second, when you get the best room available in the hotel and pay an extra fee for a balcony and the balcony chair is full of pigeon droppings and everything is dirty and wet, it's disappointing. Really disappointing.

Third, the safe just didn’t work, as does the shower fan, and don't expect anyone to want to fix it, because they don't give a damn! I called several times and they never fixed anything and did not follow up or communicate about it.

Fourth, THE BATHROOM! What kind of bathroom door doesn't close properly, causing you to feel like you don't even have privacy to do your own personal needs? Apart from the fact that the toilet is separate from the shower. For this price, the least you can hope for is some privacy in the bathroom.

After traveling all over Brazil and paying different prices for hotels, this was my worst experience, and unfortunately the most expensive. This hotel should be rated at least $10 a night or less, and I would still think twice about staying.

The pool is nice, but that's it. There are cheaper hotels for you to enjoy a pool.

In short, I would never go back to Rio, and even if I did, I would definitely not stay at the Ritz. Disappointing!!!

Great option for a tourist visit to Copacabana

The hotel is one block back from Copacabana beach and within an easy transfer distance from the GIG airport. We booked a radio taxi (coopertamo) in the domestic baggage hall which for first time visitors to Rio worked really well. You pay a fixed fare at the stand and get a voucher to your destination so you don’t have to worry about getting a dodgy taxi driver. We weren’t going to get to the hotel until close to midnight and were worried that they might think we were a “no show” so I emailed them and they let reception know when to expect us. We had booked an executive king room with balcony. The balcony was huge with a good view of the beach. The room layout was a little quirky. There was no actual bathroom. The sink was in the room with a shower and seperate toilet immediately off the bedroom. It worked fine but there was no where to hang wet towels and the shower water did seep into the bedroom a little. The wifi was pretty good, no complaints. They had 2 USB power outlets but to use any appliances, you do need specific Brazilian power point adapters. They are two pin with a long hexagonal shaped surround. We managed to find a couple of adapters at a mobile phone cover stand on the street about one block in and two to the right from the hotel. Breakfast was good was lots of options. Dining, try the Italian pizzeria just opposite. Simple but super thin Italian style pizzas. 2 Blocks along past the pizza place is a bbq grill called Braseiro. Absolutely great.

Better than expected. Room great, staff great. Cute small rooftop pool and bar. Very nice breakfast restaurant with adequate food. 200 yards to the beach!

A block away from Copacabana beach, yet quiet hotel room. Short walk to Metro station. Usual Starbucks, McDonald's, Subways nearby, if you are not up for the local foods. If you're there for soccer season, going to Maracana to see a match is a must.
Suggest using ShuttleRio to transport from airport to hotel and vice versa.
Rio have lots of traffic, so give yourself time to go to the airport.
Group tours will go rain or shine, but recommend them, and your hotel might have cheaper priced tours than thru usual websites.
