In Volendam, you cannot do better than Art Hotel Spaander. The rich surroundings, absolute comfort and extra extraordinary SPA made this a trip with remembering. The restaurant with the sea view is a beautiful place to spend the afternoon. The hotel itself is quiet, warm and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Tiny room view to courtyard.
Staff behind desk, if you can find them, unhelpful. On arrival no info was given and there’s no info in the rooms. Breakfast supposed to start at 7 am weekdays , wasn’t ready till 0730.
Breakfast in, nice view.

Bathroom rediculous. Small unpractical not fit for purpose. Would never return

The location was amazing. It is along the water, has restaurants and markets nearby, and this place has a pool. It was incredibly safe, room was clean and staff very friendly. I am not giving a higher score because it can get loud at times. It is nearby a church, I think, and we could hear bells.

Staff is very friendly. Hotel is nice local business. Room is a nice size as is the bathroom. Bathroom needs towel racks, however. Room has outside patio which is nice but it was very dirty and needs to be cleaned. Hotel is in center of town with lots of businesses nearby. Big tourist area.

This hotel was in a unique location. The streets are guarded by timed entry, which made it confusing to get to the parking. The hotel staff was helpful with this experience. The breakfast was quite costly for typical offerings, but the setting was very elegant. The bed was comfortable and clean.

Loved staying at Hotel Spaander! The pool is great. Breakfast was a delight. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a bike ride (rental) to Marken as well. Volendam is a beautiful place.

Lovely different hotel. A bit confusing as you walk in because the fake reception has a female mannequin but the building has a lot of character. The breakfast is ok. Didn’t use the spa and the village is absolutely lovely and only a 20ish mins bus ride into Amsterdam

At first I was a little worried as building had scaffold outside, But once inside it was a lovely hotel. Staff very friendly. Check in completed quickly. Room was clean and comfortable and no noise from anywhere. 2 minute walk from sea front. Recommended

This is a fantastic property in a near perfect location (when its sunny!). Rooms and bathrooms are quite small and tend to get very humid even after a short shower. Property is also very difficult to get to if you are driving from the south and using google maps. Best to ask the hotel or drive to the north side of the city and drive in on the ocean side road.

Great hotel in Volendam. Close to all the shops and restaurants. It’s a lot quieter than Amsterdam, more relaxed atmosphere. The only thing we wished we knew ahead of time was about parking, during the day there are barricades that restrict you from getting in/out every half hour.

What an incredible hotel staff we really loved the friendliness of the front desk especiallyTiZiana.
The breakfast was expensive but it was good. Is the highest breakfast we've paid in our entire trip.
Highly recommend the hotel. Very peaceful.

Not so great a place

A bit beat up around the edges. They are in the throes of a major renovation (due to a flood) which meant the restaurant was not open to guests. Only large groups who had booked ahead. The check in takes ages. It seems a wonky computer program took about 15 to 20 minutes per check in.

There were construction ungoing and it woke us up early in the morning. There were no directions to the hotel. It was very costy to get a taxi from thd airport to the hotel. Not a place i recommend to any one without a car. No taxi available and no one want to drivd there.

Way past faded glory

The staff at reception tried hard but the check in system on their computers was dreadful. It took ages to check in and if there were any changes or updates that too even longer. Like maybe half an hour. Not just us, there was a line up. There was a massive renovation going on so the restaurant was not open to hotel guests.

The hotel is being renovated at the moment so difficult to give a honest review. Our room (standard room) was clean and comfy, small side window with view of the sea, but a A/C generator next to the window so couldn´t keep window open as the generator was quite loud. We werent told that the bar closed at 6pm in the evening so disappointed that we couldn´t have a drink in the evening when returning to the hotel. The price for parking €15,-- a day is quite steep especially at the car park in a building site. Managed to find free parking spot about 5 min walk away.. The staff curtious but not over helpful with information ( about bar or facalities).Restuarant was in the middle of the build- renovations, didnt look to welcoming so decided to eat elsewhere as many places close by. Hote OK for short weekend break, when out visiting the area, but not for a holiday were the hotel should be many attraction.

We had a 1 night stay at this hotel. The Hotel is historic and it has a vintage feel. However, we stayed on first floor and our room didn't had any vintage feel. Also, there was no Almira, locker and tea/Coffee/hot kettle in the room which was a turn off for me. Bed was comfortable and the staff was polite.

I recently had a disappointing experience during my stay at the hotel. I booked four rooms for a total of eight people through hotel.com and had paid for all the accommodations and taxes in advance. However, upon arrival at the hotel, the service was exceptionally slow. I had to wait in line for about 20 minutes just to speak with the receptionist.

To my surprise, I was informed that the hotel had only received payment for three of the four rooms. I was asked to pay for the fourth room and the taxes for all rooms. This situation was quite embarrassing, especially as I was with my family and friends on holiday. We ended up having to pay again for one room and the taxes for all rooms.

I immediately contacted hotel.com to try to resolve the issue with the hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel.com staff were not successful due to the lack of cooperation from the receptionist. The whole process took about two hours, which is something I have never experienced anywhere else.

While the hotel is undergoing refurbishment, it's not fair to comment on its cleanliness overall. However, my bedroom was clean and tidy. The pool and sauna facilities were good, but they are only open from 9 am to 9 pm. Additionally, a hotel staff member needs to physically open the door for guests to enter, which is quite inconvenient.

An old hotel that could be great but isn't

We were in a 'Comfort room'. The window looked into a wall about two metres away. It was a rather small room but it was comfortable. The bed was good. The shower had lots of hot water and good pressure. They forgot to put a kettle, tea/coffee in the room (it was shown in the advertising photo). The room had no closet but a reasonable number of handy hooks for hanging coats and clothes. Also, restaurant and pool not available. A large portion of the lakeside public area was closed due to the renovations.
The check in was terrible. So painfully slow. For everyone. The computer program seemed to be slow and difficult.

My stay was fantastic! The location was amazing, and the staff was friendly. I opted out of the breakfast, which was a mistake. I ended up adding it on later. I thought that I would be able to grab something at a local café, but nothing opened until around 10am. This could’ve been because of the time of year I went. I was glad to add the breakfast on as they start serving early and I’m an early riser. I enjoyed being able to walk and explore the area on foot. They had cute demonstrations and a really cool museum. Overall it was a great way to experience Volendam and I will be staying again!

The unique sea side resort area and friendly people. Everyone speaks English here happy to help. The amenities are dated.
Our only problem was to get to the parking lot, as the only road takes you all around higher Northern from the hotel, then down along the water, and the worse part thru the narrow walking area full of elderly patrons.

Just at the spot. Parking lot is just at the hotel entrance. Hotel is at the very hearth of Volendam, just besides cheese factory. It has a restaurant on site and a large terrace with fabulous views.

Ik vond het een lastig systeem dat parkeren wat maar 2x per half uur 10 minuten kan, mag beter worden uitgelegd van te voren.
Het bed was bagger, helaas in een kuil gelegen, pijn in mijn rug.
Luide muziek waardoor de kids niet konden slapen.
Ontbijt was ontzettend lekker en uitgebreid, ondanks het oude gedeelte was het erg schoon. Aardige receptie.

Alt i alt ok. Lidt slidt hotelværelse vores bruser var ødelagt men vi kunne lave det. Wifi virkede ikke i 3 dg ikke fedt med 4 børn. Vi kunne ikke caste til tv kunne ikke få det til at virke. Værelse 201 ligger ved udluftning udendørs så det larmer. Værelse 206 har ingen udsigt ligger ud til en vlg og et larmende klokkespil. Vi fandt aldrig ud af hvordan vi kunne parkere ved hotel vi holdtbinp kælder 350 m derfra. Vores receptionist var ikke særlig hjælpsom. Hverken med info når man ringede og jeg tror når man kan tjekke ind fra kl 15 da tager de ikke tlf. Vore nøglekort skulle laves om 4x før det virkede. Men hotellet ligger perfekt og hyggeligt.

Pire hotel ever, nous avions réserver une chambre avec 4 lits simple. Rendu sur place nous avons une chambre avec 2 lits simples et 1 double, air conditionner ne fonctionnent pas,il ne veulent pas nous changer de chambre. Les 2 autres nuits l'air climatiser fonctionne mais coulent dans mon lit, encore la il ne veulent toujours pas nous changer de chambre. La dernière nuits il nous offre enfin de changer mais après tout ca ne nous donne rien pour compenser tout les désagrément

Hôtel très agréable situé face au lac et dans le centre tout en étant au calme. La chambre était propre et spacieuse avec un grand lit et un autre coin avec deux lits de 90 très confortables. La salle de bain top! Des bouteilles d'eau et une machine pour le café avec des capsules. La ville de Volendam est vraiment superbe ! Et des départs en bateau au port juste à côté pour l'île de Marken. Il y a un parking devant l'hôtel avec un coût de 15 € la journée. Je recommande cet hôtel.

Personnel peu avenant, avec manque d'attention. Les balcons étaient remplis de toiles d'araignées. Le nettoyage des chambres était négligé, et les bouteilles d'eau n'ont jamais été renouvelées dans notre chambre alors qu'elles l'ont été ailleurs. Pas de decorations dans les chambres. Manquait un petit salon, la chambre étant assez spacieuse.
