My train was cancelled so I spent the day there chilling and organising the next part of my travels. Angel was awesome!! She spent ages talking with me, made the wait go fast! She also let me use the dryer for my washing! The young guy who does the late shift was awesome too, sorry can’t remember his name!

Old rundown, dirty hotel. Far away from subway station. Pictures are not correct. If at all 1 star. No computer work station. Tv doesn’t work. No A/C . Front desk employee very rude and not helpful.

During my whole stay, they didn't clean the corridors for 4 days (the same dirt was lying there for 4 days) and they did not clean my room either, neither make up my bed during my whole stay, I also found some hairs in the bathroom.
Breakfast was terrible, when food was finished on the buffet they simply do not replace it, so you pay 15 EUR per person for breakfast but if the guests before you finish the cheese, eggs, bacon, fruit or bread you won't be not able to get it anymore. I came in to breakfast on a Saturday at 09AM (breakfast until 10.30AM) and the eggs and cheese were finished.
Also, on weekdays breakfast is until 9AM which I found very early.
Location is convenient, public transportation to the city takes only 15 min. and there are some restaurants around.

Chose the hotel mainly due to cost and location not too far from Amsterdam. Although in Amsterdam Noord it is a really easy journey - about 8-10 minutes walk to metro and a 5 minute metro ride to Central station. Rooms were comfortable although fridge was offered but switched off and full of smelly water and no racks. A free drink was offered which was nice to have and fresh bottles of water each day. Overall happy with the hotel and its location.

Staff very friendly and and helpfull, all speak english. Cleaning had some issues as towels arent replenished and overal cleaning was a bit careless.

Decent location not far from downtown. Metro station a 10 min walk away. Very quiet and calm. Staff are busy and not really interested in making themselves available to help guests. The cleaning staff didn’t clean the room on one day. Another they just folded the wet towels and didn’t replace them.

This hotel is advertised as free breakfast. So we booked it through Orbitz. Now they say that there's only free breakfast if we book through them. That's false advertisement. If something is free than its free, no matter through who you book. They wanted 14 euro pp for breakfast, which of course, we refused. Room to get in shower is very narrow, and same goes for toilet between shower and wall. The tiny sink makes you wet the floor, because its so narrow you can hardly use it.

Not one of the colleagues understand the meaning of customer service. The room was okay and the hotel was 10 minutes away from the centre as stated. I had read previous reviews about the poor service but I always tend to ignore reviews and make my own mind up. However the reviews were similar to my experience and I would not advise anyone to stay there!

A very quiet and friendly hotel in north Amsterdam only 7 minutes from the centre by bus, and they run every 8 minutes.

Place is good and price is right. I personally like the complimentary welcome drink and bottled water, which is free to take from the lobby.
However, the main point that is a let down is the distance from the Amsterdam Central. After the ferry cross over, it is still at least minimum 35mins walking time to the hotel. There's public bus to the hotel, which is about 15 mins away, but for tourists, it will be difficult to find out the location of the bus stop and which particular bus to take from the ferry terminal.

Easy access by road and 10 minute bus journey to Dam square. Standard hotel, clean. 2 beds pushed together to make a double. Only stayed one night, was overlooking the busy road so it was slightly noisy but bareable. Limited parking.

If you need a temporary place to crash, it’s doable for a few days but nothing longer. The rooms with city view are decent size but furniture hasn’t been updated. Night staff are unfriendly & no amenities. They do laundry but no room service available. The location is decent. This hotel location is not in the city center but its only a 10-15 min max bus ride to Amsterdam central station. There is no shopping near the hotel until you reach Amsterdam central station. Hotel food is generic! Don’t expect a great hotel chef!

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Hotel is just 3 bus stops away from central station and there is a night bus if you stay late in the city. Wifi worked good in our room although some of my friends said they had problems with internet connection in their rooms.

Staff was very polite and friendly. The place could use some renovations and investments to upgrade it. The bathroom was small. The vending machine only takes coins and the staff won't give change some bills for you to coins. The 32 bus gets you to central station in about 20 mins but there is literally nothing else around there that is walking distance. Probably only ideal for a business traveler spending one night. Staff was nice but hotel is very limited and doesn't have enough amenities to even be a 3-star hotel. I stayed at a days-inn motel in California which was much nicer for less money. Obviously The Netherlands and California are very different but my point was you don't have to charge a lot to offer a little bit more comfort. The electricity went out at one point and my coffee/tea maker was broken.

Stayed here for 2 night's for short break , liked that it had free parking , their is a bus stop just outside which takes about 10mins into Amsterdam and are regular also had a walk into town which took us about 25 to 30mins where you can get something to eat and drink

Bastion Hotel AMS-North.
The employees are very courteous and friendly however the hotel itself doesn't provide bell boy service. There is no elevator so for old folks it will be difficult to carry their luggage upstairs. The make up of the beds is bad. One night we came back and the bedscarfs were on the floor. Only one handtowel was provided for 2 people. The last day of our 4 nights stay they even forgot to put the 2 bodywash/shampoo tubes. Where was the Supervisor. The location is fine.

Bus stop out 3 mins from hotel, to get to center, friendly staff, breakfast is an extra 14 euro, there is a night bus that can get you home to. Taxi cost about 15 euro to town, more expensive if you get through the hotel tho. Overall, a nice cheap hotel to stay at.

Indifferent Appearance & Facilities in N Amsterdam
Staff were quite friendly but this hotel lacks facilities. The reception area is combined with a bar, so unless you want to sit on a bar stool there are just a few armchairs close to the front door to relax in - much too cramped. There are some tables on a terrace outside the dining area which could be a good exterior dining area, but is completely unscreened from the adjacent bus road junction. On my first morning nobody made my bed; instead the chambermaid just dumped clean towels and loo rolls in a plastic bag outside the room. The hotel is a 1970's system-built design in an industrial/ commercial area close to two busy main roads. However access to Amsterdam Central station by bus is by a quick and frequent service (7 minutes only)

The hotel is clean, comfortable but located in a high density residential area. There are no restaurants with in a half hour walk. The service at the hotel's restaurant was very poor. They brought the wrong meal and asked if I would like to have in instead of what I ordered. I said no and waited over 20 minutes for the pasta dish I originally ordered. No apologies offered!

The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet, in a lovely area north of the city. The bus stop is very close, a 10 minute ride, or you can walk about 30 minutes to the ferry which is a 5 minute ride and very frequent. That is fun to do if you are a walker. I would definitely stay there again.

It was amazing. I know that the Hotel tax of 5 Euro per room per day is charged everywhere else but it would be nice if we knew how much it is in advance. Otherwise everything else was excellent.

I was looking for a place to stay for one week that wasn't too expensive and where I could get a bit of rest from constant travel. I was pleased overall, especially with the spacious room. Nice that they gave a voucher for a free drink on arrival. That said, the bathroom constantly smelled pretty funky. The staff was somewhere between helpful and rude - half the time I really couldn't tell. There's next to nothing to do in the area, especially at night, but I took a bus each morning for 2.90Euro and was at the Central Station. At night, I Ubered. Public transport after midnight is limited. Consider this in the cost. I wasn't disappointed, since I got a decent deal relative to whatever else was available last minute, but if you want to be in the middle of the action and don't want to waste time getting around, this isn't the place for you.

A fair hotel given its price. If you take the bus and ferry, it's 20 min distance from Amsterdam Central. If you walk (which we often do), you have to walk 40 mins after taking the ferry.
There's a big food market (supermarket) in 15 min distance from the hotel. Can buy seafood there too.
One more thing is the cleaning service - the staff clean the rooms at around 10 am and will knock and shout loudly at your door. If you're still asleep, it might scare you as there's no 'no disturb' sign for use. But the rooms are really clean.
