I really wish they mentioned either when it was booked that there's loud construction work going on right next to the boat. I was woken up at 7AM by the noise.

This property is unique! We stayed in Loft B. The views are incredible with outside seating areas and perfect peace and quiet. Our last night was during an Amber Wind Warning for the Amsterdam area but apart from the wind noise we felt perfectly safe.
The room is on 3 levels, the bottom has bathroom, kitchen and skateboard park! Helmets and boards are provided. I am 67 but I still had a go. This level has 2 very big circular windows and we spent most our time in looking out at the passing boats. There is spiral staircase to the middle level.
We used this as our dressing room with a table and seating and room for our cases. The 2 upper floors have very strong safety netting and lots of electric sockets. There is a very safe ladder that leads you up to the bedroom. My partner has a fear of heights but she was perfectly fine going up and down.
The bedroom has two large double beds with a shelf for your bits and pieces and a TV. We kept most our stuff on the middle floor as I said. My partner had \"the best sleep of her life\". That may have been due to having a bed to herself!
We loved our stay and we will always remember the B.

Generally a pleasant stay. Paperwork on arrival stated restaurant is open till 22:00, however there is no restaurant on site but plenty in the vicinity. Real shame about the use of plastic cups though. In the bathroom and drinks served at the bar to take to our room. All single use plastic cups. Not very eco friendly.

Perfectly fine for somewhere to get my head down, bed was comfortable. Very hot water in bathroom and although the shower head was small there was incredible pressure which came from it. Radiators quick to heat the room. Liked that checkout was 11am!

Unique place to stay, close to city

Stayed here many times but this was the first since being renovated! Great place to stay, rooms are small but clean & have plenty of character. Staff friendly & the night time security guard is the best! Will definitely be back again and cannot recommend this place enough if you’re looking for somewhere close enough to the city without the price tag. Ferry from NDSM is free and runs every 20 mins to Centraal until 1:30am.

Review of the O room !!!!

A very unique and original room design! While a night or 2 was fine, it really wasn’t ideal for middle aged people. Very worn, and could use updating. It was clean and the bed comfortable. Very friendly staff. I would recommend changing rooms if possible , and trying the other letters also. The ferry next door made the daily commute really easy. Very quiet, with great views

Good fun stay, but a few things let it down.

Botel was a fun experience and the location was great with free ferries from right outside the station direct to right outside the Botel, but the room was really basic. The bar and communal areas inside were great. The roof top bar area was rough, and had a homeless guy sitting under the steps smoking weed. The ensuiite was really tiny and there was no way to stop the floor flooding when you had a shower. A bath mat would have been really helpful. Also needs soap in the bathroom.

Bathroom is too small and the bunk beds are terrible with no possibility to sit normal in the bottom beds. The doors are making lots of noise and making it difficult to sleep. Should be called the blowtel because if the smell… Only good thing was the breakfast.

It's a good concept and it would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't totally ripped apart and under construction. The fist floor we stayed on smelled really musty. The bathrooms were nice. The food boat was cute. I wish I would have been informed the boat was being renovated because I would have booked other accomodations. They should have shut down bookings during the construction. The main area and all hallways were ripped down to the studs and the flooring and ceiling were gone. I'm sure the end product is going to look nice but it felt misleading they didn't have a disclaimer on there website about the construction anywhere.

The hotel is niche and a little different from the norm which is cool, we stayed in loft room T. The hotel can be accessed relatively easy from central station on a free ferry.

The entire hotel is being renovated currently so there were lots of tradesmen making and noise and walking about, the hotel gave us a drink voucher as an apology!

Check in was shockingly bad, we ended up waiting about 40 minutes to get the keys and were really given no information only that we had to wait a few more minutes.

The room was spacious with the exception of the bathroom which was tiny. The room had two huge round windows with a great view however one of the windows had no blind or curtain which was not ideal as it was incredibly bright in the mornings or if the lights were on you could see in. I think the worst thing about the stay was the bed, the mattress was comfortable however the base of the bed was a thin metal that surrounded the mattress which made getting in and out of the bed incredibly uncomfortable.

The worst place I have ever stayed in my life. Walls were torn apart, public rooms separated by curtains, no common room for visiting, beds in dorms were too too close, room was stuffy, blanket was flimsy, breakfast was served in an altogether different place, workmen busy and loud on Easter Sunday morning ... need I go on?

Nice sea view, which was also great for checking the nearby ferries to the centre.

Communal areas could do with abit of an update but you're not there to stay in the corridor!

A unique venue for a couple of nights! With easy connections to Centraal station.

The rooms are quite simple, no frills, but worked for us as we were out for large parts of the day. Rooms didn't have air conditioning which was a shame but was manageable.

Basic and good value base for seeing the city

Basic and good value base for seeing the city.
From the Central station the F4 ferry is free and takes about 15 minutes to reach the dock next to Botel, however the area of Botel is under development so there are very limited options for eating & drinking nearby.
There is now a supermarket just a few minutes walk, however bear in mind the hotel room has no facilities to warm or prepare food.
We had a 4 person room, so that was 2 bunk beds, 1 small coffee table & 1 chair. This meant that if you bought croissants or similar you had to try and perch on the edge of your bed.
That said the room was clean, felt safe and secure and was good value.
If you’re a light sleeper maybe take some earplugs as there is noise from the boats systems (bilge pumps maybe) and noise carries in the corridor.

Go for the Letter rooms, they are worth it.

The regular rooms are completely fine - one nice thing is that the seagulls will fly up and take food out of your hands if you have a room closer to the water. But the real magic was the 'O' room. The other letters look quite cool as well. Definitely worth the upgrade

Great location, but basic amenities

Botel is great for its novelty and location. However, it is very basic and very small. It has become tradition to stay at least one night for nostalgic reasons, but there are other hotels in the area that are much nicer, cleaner and bigger. There is a reason they don’t have photos of the rooms on their website.

I liked the fact it was a boat, and the ferry was very close and also free.

I didn’t like the fact we had to wait 45 minutes to check in because the Wifi went down. We wasn’t kept in the loop or told when It was back up, after a day of travelling it was the last thing we needed. The rooms were disgusting, cold, dark, old, smelly, dirty and hairs were about everywhere, we thought this was a one off room, but our other room was exactly the same.

This hotel was quiet run down, very tired, outdated, rooms not designed very well. I asked to upgrade but was told that all rooms were the exactly the same despite info on Expedia. Unable to sit on bed to watch tv as wall had inconvenient section sticking out . The photos looks much nicer than the reality. Rooms very small. Bathroom tiny and smelled of urine. No kettle but could rent for €20 but need to ask for cups etc and need to buy own tea, milk etc. When we went area around was under construction and no local shops . Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend. We left and moved to a different hotel.

We visit Amsterdam very year and are currently staying at the Botel.. The one benefit is the close proximity and free boat to Central Station.
The hotel charges 12.50€ for a breakfast - We tried this option as we seen many reviews but wanted to experience it ourselves. It resulted - Definitely not worth 12.50€pp.

The Botel is at a great location. Just a 2 minute walk to the ferry. Hotel staff was very friendly, and our room was very comfortable, and clean. My only complaint is that is says it is a non smoking hotel, and every night the smell of smoke coming from our neighboring rooms was nauseating.

Booked a Twin Room given a Double

Firstly, this isn't a convenient location. Some descriptions of this place say it is a 3-minute walk from the station but it isn't - you need to get a ferry, so check the location! When we arrived we had two twin rooms booked, but one of the rooms given to us was a double. I asked for it to be changed to a twin but was given some BS about booking through Expedia meant that the room policy was double or twin although I clearly booked a twin (printed on the confirmation email). It's cheap and cheerful, so I wasn't expecting much, but I do expect to get a twin room when I book a twin room. Given that experience, I would not recommend this place.

Perfect location, only 15 minutes from city center via ferry running every 30 minutes, which was 2 minutes walk from the hotel and free to use! Bonus! The room itself was very clean and we had daily cleaning, fresh towels etc. Comfy beds and nice view from the window. We could even see when the ferry was arriving so we never missed it! Great hotel and we would definitely return

The condition of the room needs updating for sure.
The washroom was a disappointment but the staff/receptionist was super nice and came over and scrubbed the washroom to our satisfaction.
Very nice of her.Forgot to take her name she worked the night shift on the 29th of October.
Breakfast made up for all the other deficiencies. Lots of variety and delicious. All in all it was an alright stay.

Location is ok and very easy to get to unfortunately I had forgotten my passport to check in,I had cycled in with my son 50 mile from the coast and OMG the check in staff were worse than my mother in law. I had visa cards mobile phones with all the info you could ever need,but no passport no check in.Unbelievable experience such a shame I am 47 years old father with a 17 year old son and was put through all that to check in. I have stayed many times at this hotel surely a bit of common sense considering my situation.I won't stay there again.

This hotel just needs a mild makeover. They’ve got the right idea. Getting directions to the ferry and which ferry to ride were challenging. Thank goodness the locals seem to know where it is and how to get to it. My Siri map was way off! The best thing about the hotel is the ship next door Pollux!
They have great food and friendly staff.
