Excellent and very convenient location. My single room was cosy with a comfortable bed and a surprisingly large bathroom with shower. Lots of hot water, good heat if I needed it (December visit) and an excellent breakfast in the morning. Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Couldn't ask for a better stay in central Amsterdam...especially at the price!

Convenient location near transportation and restaurants. An easy 5 minute walk to the train, metro and trams (use your credit card to tap on and off). Lots of restaurants on the main road leading from the train station.

Our room was average size for a budget European hotel, but very functional , we didn’t feel like we were tripping over each other. The bed was the most comfortable we had in our one month stay in Europe. We had a hair dryer, kettle, tea and instant coffee in the room, though the free coffee machine was available day and night in the breakfast room.

Breakfast was a small self serve with Crossants, toast, cereal, fruit, cheese and ham slices. I wish there were eggs, but other than that it was a good breakfast. Plenty of seating.

The staff were pleasant and helpful. You can store your luggage if necessary before or after check in.
The only negatives were that you will hear street noise (stopped around 10 pm), and the arm chair in our room needs the armrest repaired. I would stay there again.

Everything we needed was within minutes walk. Restaurants, trams, buses mainline train. The parking at Oosterdok was the best value in the area.
Loved the train theme particularly as a lot of it was of the Indian railway on whivh my father wss a senior engineer in the 1950s.

I can’t say enough good things about this property. We had a bit of a traveling nightmare and we were met with kindness and warmth. The owner expedited our room for early check in so we could rest while still salvaging part of the day. The location is perfect for ease of access to centraal station, while staying walkable to many other neighborhoods of interest. Despite proximity to the station, the hotel was incredibly quiet. Stay here, you won’t regret it.

I think I've found my new hotel to stay in Amsterdam. 5 minutes walk from Centraal Station (it's visible from the Station). The decor is train themed - looks brilliant.
They have an elevator! It's a small hotel, in the A section it looks like there are 4 rooms per floor and there are 4 floors. So, if like me you have accessibility issues - this is great.
Breakfast, whilst basic, was good and taken in the train-themed room.
The beds are super comfortable.
The shower has so much pressure! Really good.
The staff were all friendly and really efficient - good to talk with.

Downtown Amsterdam Surprise

The A-Train Hotel was a very nice hotel extremely close to the Amsterdam Central Train Station, which is the reason I booked it. The staff was very polite and friendly, though the actual room was small, but very comfortable. Shower small, but water pressure nice. Breakfast light, but nice coffee machine. Overall, if traveling thru or staying in Amsterdam for a few days on your own, A-Train Hotel is an excellent locale. Location and staff efficiency is more important than amenities.

Will give a more detailed review later, but I/we absolutely loved this place. We space 10 days in Europe, last being in Amsterdam , & this was by far the best part of the trip,

The location is perfect. It is tight next to a huge grocery store where they sold 4 packs of ducks for 6 euros. The train station was a 5 min walk & the closest tram was 5 min. When we come back, we will definitely stay here.

Coffee, water, hot cocoa, tea, & ice available at no additional charge 24/7… where ele se in Europe can you get this? Breakfast was included too. Room was awesome. Son loved the train theme. Shower had great pleated pressure. I/wr could live here.

Nice hotel

This is a nice hotel in a great location within walking distance of train station and all of central Amsterdam. It is nothing fancy but has everything you need. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The staff were very nice. They also had a breakfast in the mornings. They can store your luggage till you need it on day of check-out. I would recommend them.

This hotel was very convenient to Amsterdam Centraal; also they allow 24 hour check in, which is why we chose this hotel...this is so important to people who are traveling from overseas and would have a tough time if they had to wait several hours before they were able to check in.

The staff was very kind and welcoming. The accomodations are basic, which was fine for us. I would absolutely stay there again.

The rooms were small but clean. The front desk staff was very helpful with directions as where to meet for booked tours. They also had a small breakfast each morning with a terrific and friendly service team. Tea and hot chocolate was available 24 hours a day. The location was within walking distance to the train station and other local attractions.

The staff was very nice. The place was super cute. The breakfast was nice and the woman running it was super sweet. The rooms are very small with no refrigerator unless you upgrade to different room. I suggest not doing that because while the upgraded rooms do have a better view, it’s loud because of people on the streets parting and then construction starts at 6am! But hopefully construction will be gone by the time you book your room. The lady running the breakfast, let me put my lunch bag in the refrigerator so the back room was perfect for me. My friend did the upgraded room and didn’t get much sleep. Over all, I recommend this hotel.

Affordable and convenient for city center. Train from airport easy. Do note there was construction (Dec 2024) so walking direction were something's not quite doable. Nice European breakfast with 24 hr coffee/tea station. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Older bldg but well maintained. Shower was very small with no curtain or door so water can splash everywhere.

The staff was awesome as was the breakfast offerings. Room was a bit “tight”/narrow for 3 people but beds were comfortable! Even the very narrow stairwells were kind of fun as they were unusual to us. This was also difficult as the lift was broken! But the staff brought our luggage up so that was awesome!

I loved this hotel. It was right across from the train station and the trams were very close. While it is a busy area, I was able to sleep very well. Free breakfast that was lovely, and the staff could not be more accommodating. When I come back to Amsterdam, I will be staying here.

Hotel just across from Amsterdam Centraal Station so really convenient. Perfect for tourists to get around. Room was on the small side but to be expected for this area of the city but was still a double bed which was great. Very clean. Good water pressure for the shower and I was on the top floor. Bed very comfortable, slept very well. Decent air con. Breakfast was a bit limited but enough to set me up for the day. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend to family and friends for anyone visiting Amsterdam. Am very pleased I found and booked this hotel, excellent value.

A-Train Hotel wonderful experience

The best thing about the hotel is the wonderful staff who helped us out in many ways- getting into our room early, directions, extra pillows- everything we asked for. 2nd best was the closeness to the central rail station, the metro AND the cruise pier. Piece of cake!

This hotel was just right for our needs. It all depends on what you want in a hotel. If you like opulence and space, then this isn’t for you. My feeling is that I’m in Amsterdam to sightsee so my hotel room needs a comfy bed and a reasonable bathroom and this hotel had those things. I’m not spending much time in the room so my needs are minimal. I took off a star (only ½ star if I could) because I felt they could’ve done a bit better on the toiletries in the bathroom. They didn’t have bar soap or shampoo/conditioner but rather a body wash/shampoo combo in a dispenser in the shower. I get being efficient but that was a bit much haha. There was a limited continental breakfast included which was nice to have on property. Would stay again.

No fault of the hotel but it was noisy and i felt unsafe because of major road construction. Taxis, etc. could not get to hotel so let off and picked on the side street at the corner. Had it not been for the construction i would have easiky given it a much higher rating

Great little hotel steps away from Central Station. Easy to take the Train to and from the Airport for 6 Euros. All of my tours and excursions started close to the Central Station. There is a mid-size supermarket 2 doors down, and numerous resturants very close by. The hotel location, is walkable to everything. Rooms are small and basic, but clean and comfortable. Coffee, hot tea available 24 hours. Breakfast from 7am to 9:30am, was plentiful, and above average for price range. Breakfast included cold cuts, cheeses, cereal, milk, boiled eggs, different fruits, breads, jelly, peanut butter, juice, tea and coffee. Breakfast was very good. Front desk staff so nice. It was great for an extended stay. Recommend

Convenient location with exceptional service

Convenient location directly across from Central Station where many trams stop. An Apple Store and large supermarket are on either side of hotel. Service from caring staff was exceptional…especially Gina in breakfast room. Hotel has a lift to upper floors. Cleanliness is very noticeable.
