ideal location for central station, lovely onsite pub and restaurant, breakfast offering more than adequate for most people. Only potential drawback is location is somewhat noisy and may be too much for some light sleepers.
literally a few steps to shops, bars and food offerings of all sorts.

I accidentally booked the wrong dates for my stay and missed check-in — completely my fault. However, I was disappointed that the hotel would not offer any refund, not even for the following days, or even partial credit toward rebooking new dates, despite my willingness to stay. I understand policies can be strict, though I had hoped for some flexibility or goodwill in this situation but I guess not.

Room definitely different from what was in the photos. Extremely small, no space to even put and open my luggage up. very noisy (noise from both inside and outside).

Breakfast was good. Heater was working. Hot water took abit of time. Gave it 2 stars instead of 1 only because of these.

I booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child (15 year old) and when I got to check in they said that my booking was for a 1 year old and that they couldn’t give me the room that I booked and charge me with an extra 50 euros. The room smelled like cigarettes.

This is definitely a 2-star hotel, with a favorable location very close to the train station and multiple dining options. The area was very walkable.

The idea of four or five buildings connected and turned into a hotel is quaint. But the building is in bad need of remodeling. Very dated and worn.

There is no lobby to speak of. Just a single sofa. No tea or coffee service that you see in other hotels in the area.

The staff was efficient, but not friendly. In fact, one morning the clerk was very short, nearly yelling, at guest's struggling with the language barrier.

The room was small, but about average for a European hotel.
When I arrived, the previous guest's rubbish was still in the bin. The bathroom needs a thorough cleaning. The shower curtain was stained. And the towels were worn and threadbare

The bed was very soft and very close to the floor. It needs to be replaced.

The location is fine, but the walls are very thin. I could hear the fellow in the next room snoring, as well as all the people on the street below, excitedly singing their drinking songs.

Overall, a only 2 star hotel.

Location was great. Breakfast buffet was pretty good (7 out of 10). Staff were friendly and very helpful with directions. We requested a room on the bottom floor bc we are seniors. We didn’t know how extremely noisy it would be. There were bars and drunk loud people right next to our window until very late into the night. No way to get a good sleep.

Only for the deep sleepers!
Not really the hotels fault but the surrounding areas are very loud until the very early hours.
Had the worst two nights sleep.
The hotel really should put better soundproof windows and place a warning on their booking sites. It reallly is that bad.
And no toaster for toast at breakfast but sliced bread!
Hotel also dated and rooms look untouched for years (still had signs for ISDN! How very 1990s!)
Very strong smell of smoke in corridors.

HOWEVER. Staff were magnificent and the location is good just a shame for the drunken louts smashing windows etc in the night as the crawl back to their cages.

Location cannot be beat. Very convenient to walk or take a train to anywhere. Very cooperative staff especially with flexibility on storing your luggage after you check out. The only issue was Wi-Fi which I could barely catch a signal of in my room.

Fantastic location and a very different experience! Rooms might have stairs in them which is charming but can be challenging for some. Staff is friendly and breakfast is included which is a huge plus. Right in front of Amsterdam Central which makes it super convenient. Recommended!

Really enjoyed staying here and eating and drinking at the attached restaurant and bar. The staff was very nice and though the rooms are old, they are comfortable and clean. Without even asking we had clean towels every day and the room was tidied.The location is fabulous-very close to train station and lots of restaurants, bars and shops. Great food in the restaurant, Prince Charming. We ate there twice, both times excellent with great service. Overall this is a good value for the cost.

Prins Hendrik is unusual in that it serves breakfast. The rooms are quite noisy but again this is a hotel in the centre of the city near the red light district, so noise should be expected. The hotel is very close to Amsterdam Centraal station.

Front desk staff are amazingly helpful with check-in, baggage, directions to where I wanted to go. Breakfast had a nice variety with hot food, fruits, breads, yogurt…..
Room was very clean and well attended to daily.
Location was near central train station and other public transportation. Places to eat were close by.

PROS about the hotel : excellent location, conveniently located close to central station, attached to a restaurant/bar, free breakfast buffet with numerous options

NEGATIVE about the hotel: rooms smell like old water/mold, some of the lamps by the bed did not work (bulbs were dead), room has NO AC, room gets very loud and we were woken up around 6 am from the city workers removing the trash ; beds are very tiny

The hotel also only provides 1 key for your entire group, and you have to leave the key with the front desk staff as you exit the hotel, and receive the key again when you check in. This is such an outdated system and it is just not efficient when you are traveling with multiple people!!

This is a very old hotel. We were surprised to open our room door only to see a flight of stairs up into the room. Difficult to navigate with large bags. The room was large and comfortable. No a/c but there was a fan in the room. Breakfast was good and staff very helpful.

This was my 22nd trip to amsetertdam but my first time staying at the prins hendrik. i am not sure whether i would stay there again.
the room i had was at the back of the hotel but on a very noisy street and their windows were paper thin.
the location was unreal., across the street from the train station! the breakfast was really good!! the banks mansion was the best breakfast i had in amsterdam but this hotel was pretty good. nice breakfast to start your nmorning!!

I loved the central location and free breakfast, plus the staff were extremely kind and helpful. But I don’t think I would stay here again. The room was very small and didn’t match up to the photos. Bathroom was also very small and shower water got everywhere at one point. It did its job though, in that it gave me a place to snooze during a busy three nights in Amsterdam.

It didn't have a very welcoming vibe, and no areas to sit and lounge during the day, which was an issue, since the Wi-Fi didnt work in/reach my room. Was actually asked NOT to sit at an outdoor table in front of the hotel restaurant as it is \"only for paying customers\"

Insist on a room that is (a) accessible by elevator, not \"some elevator, some stairs\" and (b) no stairs inside the room. Using any stairs at this hotel - whether inside the room, or outside - is like playing Russian roulette!

Limited closet space in room. Bathroom is like from 19th century.

These property was quaint and very traditional. It was a bit run down but that did not bother us. It was a very warm weekend and unfortunately we had a very hard time getting a draft in the room. It was also very noisy throughout the whole night but we had to keep the windows open to lower the temperature in the room. No fan or ac. We were also surprised that we could not make an extra key Which we need it since we are a family of four. The hotel was very conveniently located across the street from the train station and also very very close to shopping and dining. We loved the breakfast at the hotel too.

I feel bad giving a 3 star review because the staff was so kind and helpful—best part of our experience. The property is older and not as clean as I expect my rooms to be. Breakfast was delicious. There is no AC—this is not a reason for a lower rating, however it is important to know. The listing does not mention AC or the lack of AC. We had to have our windows open at all times which was problematic at night when the nightlife geared up—it was noisy and lots of smoke (from alllll varieties of smoke-able products). If you are young travelers who don’t mind this, you are good. If you are traveling with children, it is good to keep in mind. Very walkable location being central to nearly everything.

The only thing I didn’t care for is the location and how dirty it was around there which isn't the hotels fault. It was also a little loud buy it was right in the middle of the main tourist area so understandable.

This hotel is not family friendly. There were no elevators, and we had to carry our luggage up to the third floor using winding stairs, it was exhausting and inconvenient. To make things worse, there was no air conditioning, which made the room very uncomfortable, especially in warm weather. On top of that, the outside noise was loud and disruptive, making it difficult to sleep. Don't even get me started on the bathroom, UGH.
Overall, it was an unpleasant experience — I would not recommend this place for families.

We had a quad room facing Amsterdam Centraal - this was an excellent location and view The narrow circular staircase was a little challenging to navigate with luggage. First place we stayed that included breakfast... very well done with sausage, eggs, mini pancakes and lots of cold options. Would gladly stay here again.

Pros: location was easily accessible to multiple points of interest. We appreciated they provided a room upon our arrival mid-morning. Friendly and helpful check-in.
Cons: Exhausted, we ventured into the area identified as where breakfast would take place and made a cup of coffee. Instantly a man appeared and said I had to pay 4E. That same coffee machine was used for our breakfast (included). Our window faced the street with a beer garden. Happy people stayed there until the wee hours, leaving us with little sleep. Upon checkout, the couples (multiple) behind us paid 163E yet we paid 199E - and that should have been $204US, but $227US was charged. Now I need to follow up:(

Super friendly helpful Staff. Very very close to station. Decor is a little old and bumped about and dowdy. But still very clean and functional. No qualms about the bathroom cleanliness. My room was probably the worst for noise. Very quirky 1st floor with low windows onto backstreet. Very odd but kinda fun layout with stairs IN the room. But all too be expected for super location in an old building, Breakfast was just OK. But again not bad for the price. Really the staff helpfulness made the difference.

The best part of Prins Hendricks hotel is that it is located in a good spot. It is across from Central station, so an easy walk. The rooms are clean but old. Our room it was hard to find electrical outlets. The downside is that it is very noisy. We had two rooms. The room in the front of the hotel was fine. The room on the alley side was very very loud,all night. The breakfast that was included was a good way to start the day.

Really enjoy this hotel , been several times . This time our room had horrid smell and a dirty sock over the smoke detector. Did keep forgetting to mention at front desk as staff on desk are brilliant . But we were not touching someone’s dirty underwear stuck on ceiling . Also waitress in dining room 1st morning was really rude , for no reason . Would not answer when we asked for help . For price paid this has really put me off as we love Amsterdam , but this took the shine of what until now was my favourite place to stay .

We stayed for 3 nights in early June. Breakfast was terrible, sausages were cooked like rubber, orange was water down , can't recognize as orange juice. Our room was one 1st floor, facing street. It was so noise and hard to sleep at all. There is no AC, and at least our room was difficult for elders as there are so many things to trip over, and steps inside the room. The location is good but I would not recommend any friends to stay.
