Superb place, basic but clean and a very comfy mattress made a great stay. The bar and food place in this hotel / hostel is amazing. Tv screens all over to watch the mighty Sunderland beat Leeds at Roland road… under the lights aswell ! Leeds under the lights United never get beat under the lights. They did this night !

What a great place. Very friendly staff and helpful and informative. The hostel showers, rooms etc were clean and secure. Also great luggage storage lockers. Breakfast was basic but plentiful to set us up for the day. It's served in the Belushi Bar on the ground floor. Location of the hostel is perfect too. I would definitely recommend and I will return. Keep up the good work to everyone who makes this place a success and a great stay

Good location & clean but noisy

The staff were nice and the bar downstairs was pretty cool. The location is very central. The bed and room were fine but the walls were thin. Everytime someone went into a room along the corridor, the door would slam and wake you up. Wouldnt recommend if you are a light sleeper.

I stayed at St Christopher’s and overall had a good experience in many ways. The location is fantastic — close to everything and super convenient for exploring the city. The staff were also exceptionally welcoming and kind, which made a big difference and gave the place a friendly atmosphere.

The major downside, though, is the noise. The bass from the bars downstairs is very strong, and there were people yelling and even fighting outside until 2–3 am most nights. If you’re a heavy sleeper or planning to be out late yourself, this might not bother you, but if you need rest, it can be a serious issue.

In short: great location, amazing staff, but be prepared for a loud night.

Quiet Policy Ignored, but Privacy Curtains, A Plus

Good location with plenty of restaurants nearby. However, in the Superior room, it was hard to sleep because despite a quiet policy after 10 pm, there was noise and movement coming from above the bunker. The top bed trunk shifted and woke me up four times during the night. I only stayed one night for testing but after this situation, I chose not to extend my stay. On the plus side, the bathroom and balcony were nice. Both the top and bottom bunks had nice private curtains hanging from them, privacy when needed.

Dear Hotel Management,

I am writing to express my profound disappointment with my recent two-night stay at your hotel from 25th July to 27th July. Given the significant amount paid for the accommodation, I expected a level of service and comfort that was unfortunately not provided.

My primary concerns are as follows:

Disproportionate Pricing: I paid approximately £315 for a two-night stay, which appears to be considerably higher than what friends have paid for similar room types at your establishment, even for bookings made at short notice. This pricing discrepancy feels unfair and unjustified given the issues encountered.

Non-Functional Lift and Lack of Notification: Upon arrival, I was assigned a room on the sixth floor. To my dismay, the lift was out of service for maintenance, and I was not informed of this crucial fact prior to my arrival or during check-in. Ascending and descending six flights of stairs, especially with luggage, was extremely difficult and inconvenient. As a reputable hotel, it is unprofessional not to notify guests of such significant disruptions or to offer alternative arrangements or a discount. I was simply told no other rooms were available, which I find hard to believe given the size of your establishment.

Substandard Breakfast Experience: The breakfast offered was very limited in options, and the quality of the juices (specifically the orange juice) was exceptionally poor, tasting diluted a

Hotel is in the heart of amsterdam.
Very clean. Staff are on hand 24/7 and really friendly. Rooms are exactly what you pay for.
Beds are a little small for a man like me but i knew what id paid for as this is my 3rd stay here.
Overall 9/10. Only gripe is they could do with a drinks vending machine for late at night. But thats me being lazy as there is a mini mart a 2 minute walk from the hotel or you can buy at the bar.
Food and drinks very reasonably price. 10/10

Prior to booking was reading a lot or feedback about outside noise. To be honest, it wasn't too bad, even when football games were on, the bar would calm down pretty fast.by 1-2am the lates. Location is supper convenient - located in red light distribution, just turn around the corner to get to main district activities. 7-10 min walk to Amsterdam central train station, download NS app on your phone so you can track train scheduling you're taking day trips from Amsterdam

Conveniently located in the city centre and attached to a busy and fun club bar. I stayed in a 4 bed dorm which had a v comfortable bed and i met some lovely people but during the day i saw a rat in the restaurant seating area 😳

I would have given at least one other star had someone came into my room to clean it AT LEAST ONCE during my entire stay. I even extended my stay by one night and I specifically asked the front desk staff to please make sure my room would get cleaned. They instructed me to hang the “clean my room” sign by the door, which I did for two consecutive days, and nothing.

There are also weird smells in the room. I can see they probably don’t even sanitize these rooms thoroughly after each guest. I had a private room.

Location is excellent. Just walking distance from the red light district.

The hostel is located in the heart of Amsterdam. Its about a 1min walk from the red right district. There are plenty of good bars and restaurants close to the hostel. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Its probably the best hostel in Amsterdam. I have stayed in plenty of different ones that dont match up to this one.

Definitely a hostel and not a hotel - a lot of students, transients, but we stayed in a private room with a private bathroom and it was as satisfactory as any other hotel. Would definitely recommend whether you stay as a guest with others or if you book a private room.

Let's get this out of the way, fellow guests/roommates can make or break your hostel stay, which, is usually beyond your control when traveling solo. This review will not take that into account. The hostel bed was comfortable, nice and not too firm. Pillow was supportive and the linen/blanket was clean. Security was also very good. On-site self service laundry was also very convenient. Very, very friendly and welcoming staff at the reception. Made you feel welcome at the hostel. Housekeeping is excellent and a towel is provided daily free of charge. Sheets and towels are changed daily!!! A few things to consider. Location is in a busy part of downtown and street noise into the night is unavoidable, comes with the territory. Bathroom in our ensuite had a few quirks, you'll take a shower in a bathtub and water will get to the bathroom floor. Bathroom light did not have an on/off switch, a bit odd. Overall a good experience during the 6 night stay at the hostel. Recommend to book here! 👍👍👍

Stayed here 5 nights. I booked a single room with private bathroom. Room was small but it was good value what i paid. Only old church is next to the hotel and each 15 minutes bell was ringing as if inside the room. Apart from that it was a pleasing stay.

We booked the private room with the private toilet. Staff was friendly and the location was perfect. Our contents were safe when we weren’t in the room. Keeping in mind this is a bed, toilet, and shower, and no Ritz Carlton, it certainly meets all requirements. The downstairs bar / restaurant is one of the greatest highlights. You can just walk up to your room after partying. The location is central to all of Amsterdam. Parking is a nightmare as you have to use public garages. The closest garage is 45 euros a day so don’t recommend a car if you can avoid it. Overall a great stay and we were happy with this hotel / hostel.

It is what it is but not going again!

The hostel didn’t have water when I checked in. The room felt congested and was always hot. They provide one small fan which just takes energy and doesn’t let any air out.

There’s no drinking water but that was expected in Amsterdam. The vibe of the room is depressing.

The place is located downtown and close to anything that you can think of red light district shops, foods, bulldogs cafe and everything I have no complaints best location indeed, The only downside and I hate to say this I had to pay extra 46euros aside from what I paid when I booked on Orbitz, The staff explain that there’s extra charges tourist, city tax and so on where it does not even match on what it says when I booked it I explained to the staff that I paid the hotel fees but he keeps insisting that I have not paid the other fees which totals to 46euros, I paid $56 thru orbitz for one night only and extra paid at hotel which costs me a total of $112 for one night 😅 the price is not worth it for the two twin beds that I stayed, I hate to give bad reviews but I was not happy and I only liked where it’s located.

Online it says this is a hotel. It is far from it. It’s 100% a hostel. If you like the smell of a public bathroom where someone’s has had a UTI and hasn’t flushed in weeks you may be interested in this place. Having a giant graffiti mural of the joker in your room watching you while you sleep is an interesting touch. You decide if that’s something you’d like or not. Super close knit community. In fact just outside our door we had some people sleeping in the hall and smoking a fatty.

When I checked in, I had to pay the same amount of money that I had paid already to Expedia. They said that Expedia only had charged half, so I paid. The room was shared with two bunk beds (4 people). I went to sleep around 10 and at 2 AM a couple came and after turning on lights to unpack they went to one bed and started giggling and lovemaking. After I make it clear I was there, they stopped. The other guest came around 5 AM and, again, lights and noise. The morning after I went to the reception to say I did not want to stay an extra night but they carelessly did not want to reimburse - even partially - the second night. I left anyway because I did not want to endure another nightmare, so I lost my money for the next day. Expedia said that it was up to the hotel to allow cancellation, so they could not help.

My niece and I had a lovely trip and your staff are delightful. Only problem was the hallway of the hostel was being refurbed when we arrived and we were confronted by scaffolding, workmen, drills, paint sheets etc. Admittedly, this was only during the day when most people were out and about and by the evening everything had ben cleared away. However, it was a little disturbing as we arrived and immediately thought the hotel was actually closed!

While this does still have a dorm room feel it was clean and comfortable. Beyond that, the staff were great!! I left my phone in the taxi when it dropped me off at the airport and the awesome guy at the hotel tracked it down for me and I made my flight!!
