The location is great. Our main criticism is that the bed was poor quality mattress and my partner felt close to falling out of bed more than once. Also the bathroom light couldn’t be turned on without also turning on a hall light that disturbs your partner in your room.

The hotel was exceptionally clean & its location of 1 minute walk to Dam Square & the Palace was brilliant. All the expected attractions spread out from Dam Square making the choice of visiting other locations on foot so easy. The staff at the hotel remained low key yet accessible at all times. The hotel was very clean & the continental breakfast was lovely. We would definitely recommend this hotel for it location & facilities.

Too Expensive for what you get!

I have always had good experiences with Best Western, but this hotel is run down and needs a major remodel. Much of the room's furniture needed to be dusted. Bathroom cleanliness was average. The room was tiny and the bathroom reminded me of a ship's bathroom. The shower was so tiny I think many people would not be able to fit in it. It also leaked and flooded the floor while showering. The location of this hotel was the plus. It is just a short walk to the train station, so it was convenient. The included breakfast was exactly the same every day. We stayed eight days so we got sick of eating the same thing: cereal, juice, yogurt, bread, and cold cuts. We paid the most for this hotel than any we have stayed at on any of our trips. The rate was over $300 nightly. Because the USD is weak now, that amount went up to close to $400 nightly.

Great Location

I have traveled to Amsterdam numerous times. This time as a 70 year old man. For me, now, I prefer a more comfortable stay. The location is ideal. The room borders on being small since we had to layout our two suitcases on the floor. The bathroom is adequate though small and the shower is small. If location is important this location is great.

Best Western Dam Square was a great choice for us in Amsterdam. Typically, we try and book into a local hotel (vs chain) This BW is unlike any north-American hotel... and is definitely a great hotel to stay at in Amsterdam. It's location \"(10 min walk to Central Station) is great. It is also a unique, old building, along a typical narrow cobblestone street. Amazing shopping and restaurants are immediately accessible. Staff were friendly and helpful. The available breakfast was very good, with good variety. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed! So happy to have stayed here!

Their was some discussion with best western on if the were going to charge we for a no show night but in the end they decided not to charge us. Other than that the stay was nice. The room size and location is ok. I was not happy with the facilities. Even though i was on the first floor there was a dangerous step when you entered the room which i tripped on as by the time you switch the light on you could not see the step. View out of the window terrible, and felt i was in the basement, there was pigeons nesting outside all the time making noise. During the night there must have been a pipe running through the room and there was pipe noise continuously and had to wear ear plugs to sleep. Room quite dark. I had to move the light fixtures in the room to make it brighter. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. My total disappointment was when i had to have a meeting online at 12 pm and sat in the restaurant in a corner table and they came to remove me in a rude way as they said they were going to mop the area…while the cleaner was actually on her phone since i went there..they moved me at the entrance of the hotel which was not really ideal to have a meeting as i wanted a quiet area. This is not a suitable hotel if you travel for business…

Fantastic hotel

We had booked a double room but when we arrived we were upgraded to a suite. The staff were lovely, friendly and attentive. Breakfast has a great selection to start the day. Everything was very clean and tidy. Bed very comfortable. Close to Dam square and easy walking distance to shops etc. Would definitely recommend.

I was very happy and would probably stay there again when coming to Amsterdam. It is easy walking distance to multiple attractions from stores and restaurants. I read that a number of hotels in the area had problems with temperature regulation and noise. This was not a problem. There was a thermostat in the room. The hotel is on a small Street which is only accessible via bicycle or pedestrians, so there was no traffic noise. If someone has mobility issues and can't walk a block with their luggage, this would not be the right place for them. The room and shower sre small as I've seen in multiple European hotels, but those were not problems for me. Continental breakfast wast standard, not fantastic, not bad.
It's a short tram ride from the central Amsterdam Station. If you prefer to take a taxi, I would suggest Uber. Multiple taxis told me they did not have a meter and quoted me prices two to four times greater than the cost of an Uber.

The bedroom was reasonable, but the bathroom was a bit cramped due to location of structural features of the old building. Very centrally located. Close to the train station and Dam square. Good breakfast. Love the water dispenser in the lobby to fill up your bottles as bottled water is very expensive to buy in tourists areas. Avoid rooms that overlook the street as it’s very noisy from bars and cafes. Noise was audible till 2 am.

Property seems to have been remodeled not too long ago and is in great condition. Staff is friendly and the location is hard to beat just 2 minutes from Dam Square. Breakfast is efficient and a typical European Breakfast. No issues except one day no housekeeping (housekeeper came by, said give us 5 min never returned - staff were kind of \"oh well\"). This property is in the centre of everything. Dam square is literally around the corner. There are resteraunts and bars a stones throw away. Shopping is also very close. We could go back to the hotel to drop our shopping bags off before going somewhere else!! Its about a 10 - 15 min walk from the train station, depending on how fast you walk, I walk quite slowly! Anne Frank Haus is also about a 10 minute walk away.
The hotel is clean and offers an adequate and fresh self service breakfast. The staff are very helpful. Surprisingly our bedroom was at the back of the building and it was very quiet. We had a great time here.

Dam Square is a Good Place to stay in Amsterdam

My husband and I had a very nice stay at the Dam Square Inn. It is not a fancy hotel but it has all the necessary qualities for a comfortable and pleasant stay. It's on a charming little street where no cars are allowed but if you're lucky, as we were, your taxi will break the rules and come to the hotel door to help with your bags. Our hotel room was a good size with a very nice bathroom with a large shower. The TV had a lot of programs but was difficult to work. The breakfast was fine with a great coffee maker. The staff was helpful. The location was great being a block off of Dam Square.
