This hotel was very nice small but spacious.. we booked a 2 bed for three people and had more than enough space. There were 2 king beds with a glass door separating them. So it gave it a 2 bedroom fee, one side had the shower and the other side had the separate toilet. We stayed in the wine seller room it was equipped with a bottle of win. The best part was the room was clean and bed were comfortable 10/10 and the sister property was right around the corner for breakfast

Not thrilled with this property. First of all, we checked into the Highlander House (I guess that's the address my directions took us to?) and we were told to walk up the street and around the block to our hotel.
We arrived there and the steps up to the hotel were littered with half eaten food someone had left on the stoop. The area has heavy foot traffic and bars and I guess disrespectful tourists. It's a shame. But anyway, there was no hotel sraff there to clean it off, giving the place more of a hostel feel. But I'm an adult and not interested in staying at hostels. Or walking over half way packages of salmon and other waste on my way to my hotel room.
Took and very skinny, steep circular staircase half a floor down with 3 heavy bags to our room which had a cool look but the bathroom STUNK of MOLD. Like, really moldy and gross. We kept the bathroom door shut the whole time to keep the smell out of the room and had to just deal when we were in the bathroom.
The bed, pillows and blanket were comfy and warm.

Great location to some nearby tourist attraction. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it was easy to arrange transportation to Schiphol. Room was spacious and well-appointed, but we were a little disappointed that the hotel is unstaffed after 5 or 6pm and to get help, we will have to go to the nearby sister hotel. Overall it was still a great experience for our family of four.

Was a fabulous guesthouse style property, with added convenience of a bar and breakfast room at the parent highlander hotel, you do have to take a short walk across a main road. We got a great February deal so it was very reasonable should I have paid peak prices I would have felt very differently.

I loved everything about this hotel. Awesome location, close to good shops and very close to Central Station. Staff were super friendly. Rooms were so thoughtfully done, with Bluetooth music speakers throughout the ceilings so you can listen to music even when in the shower. The waterfall shower was gorgeous, didn't want it to end. Bed was also super comfy. I’ll be staying here any time I come to Amsterdam for sure :)

The room was small but we didn’t need more space and it actually utilized the space so well. The check in process was simple and they provided great local recommendations. The room was clean, well decorated and we appreciated the free coffee, tea and water. They also gave us a free bottle of Prosecco for staying in the wine cellar room! Very kind! Centrally located within walking distance to Central train station, Dam Square, Red Light District, Anne Frank, Shops amongst other. Themed-12 room and stayed 2N in Wardrobe - our teenager daughter loves her own single BR with transparent glass door and the hollywood mirror. Clean T&B with a rain shower, lotions, shampoo & conditioner, shower caps and vanity kits. Espresso maker provided, complimentary bottled water and a mini-fridge. Warmed reception from checked-in to checked-out (a gentleman and 2 lovely ladies). They have a lift too although we have not use it. Would highly recommend this place if you're looking for one.

No staff past 11pm means guests run around as they feel all night slamming doors and making noise. If you’re looking for a hotel which is not a high end hostel.

Excellent location with all the attractions within walking distance. Get your day started at the coffeeshop across the road from the hotel. Great place to unwind at the end of the day too. Rooms are clean, modern and have a chic vibe. A little on the small side, we stayed in 'The Den' but I think balanced with affordability. There is some construction on the approach street but you'll be fine. Great shopping is a few steps away along with most eateries within 10-15mins walking distance. Check in / out was smooth no complaints really.

Staff was very friendly and it's in great location. One bad thing about this place was it was located away from the main hotel like a sister hotel, and a luggage storage and early check out (9am) need to be happened in the crossed street at the main hotel. All the pictures on the website was from the main hotel and it can be misleading.

AC was not working in our room and it was incredibly hot and humid due to the rain. The room was so muggy that it was difficult to sleep. All they gave us was one small fan for three people to somehow share, which didn’t work well due to the layout of the room. The windows also did not open to let in any fresh air. We asked every day for 3 days to switch to another room or at the bare minimum to get an additional fan and we got nothing. Finally we were able to switch to their sister property, The Highlander, for the last two nights of our stay. They were very friendly but for over $400 per night, we had a very poor experience.

The plus points - Very artistically and cutely done hotel - all the rooms have different themes and we'd taken 3 rooms and each room had its own personality; super friendly staff; fantastic location.
But, the housekeeping is so poor it actually made us want to leave. The first day they forgot to clean to our room, and when we returned in the evening the hotel staff told us it was too late and there was nothing they could do. The next day they did clean the room but they didn't sweep/vacuum the floor, change the dirty teacups, clear the dustbins, etc. Again when we asked the staff the said there was nothing they could do and said we could clear out the dustbins ourselves but they had no idea where the fresh trash bags were to replace in the bins. It was utterly bizzare. After this while the room was 'cleaned', it was never properly cleaned - the floor etc was always left dirty.
The second issue was in our room the bed was extremely lopsided and uncomfortable to sleep in, in another room the ac didn't work and the staff couldn't do anything.
I do not recommend staying here at all. It pretty much ruined our entire Amsterdam experience and we couldn't wait to leave.

The Highland House - Amsterdam
We had an amazing stay at The Highland House. The Check-in was smooth and quick. The room was clean and to our surprise all the rooms were themed. Ours was called GYM and had a neat leather punching bag in a corner of the room. Also there were posters of Muhammad Ali the great legendary boxer and some other athletes from different sports . The room was comfy and felt cozy to stay in. The bed was amazingly soft and comfortable. We had some sound sleep in those beds. Cleanliness was too class. No complaints at all. The staff were all polite and smiling and very helpful about things to do and ways to reach various sights. Overall a too class hotel for a short stay in the center of Amsterdam with many restaurants and pubs right within walking distance from the hotel.

The staff were very nice and greeted us after our very long day of traveling. The room was very clean as well, just a weird set up as the main bed was turned diagonally and it was not easy to get in/out from one side and the other side was right next to the toilet. There was not much room to place luggage, especially for three adults. The staff told us we could take the elevator with our luggage to the room. My cousin climbed up the first set of narrow steps and took the elevator up, only to find out that our room was on the small landing after the first set of stairs! After a long day of travel, it was hilarious and frustrating. I mean, if you work there, you should know where the rooms are located! Overall, the stay was fine. We were not in the room long, just for showering and sleep. Just keep in mind that it is a narrow stairway and the space is compact in the room!

Boutique hotel that has interesting design themes for its rooms, located in a very convenient location accessible to shopping, dining and sightseeing etc, and relatively near to dam square and central station. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Room size may be a bit small, bathroom comes without door, and the reception outside office hours is located in a separate hotel across the street.

Service was extremely good. We were greeted warmly and shown where we could leave our bags until the room was ready. They prioritized our room cleaning and called within an hour. Staff could not have been more helpful with information on a city walk, indulging us with a fresh cappuccino and helpful information about Amsterdam. The Highland House had a small elevator which was good since we had two larger bags. It is in a relatively quiet location down an alley but convenient walking. Breakfast was served at their sister hotel, The Highlander and was ample with juice, coffee, eggs, pastry and the like. Would highly recommend when in the city.
