Room condition was adequate. Clean and decent storage space for a one night stay. Despite the many reviews warning about the staircase, and despite walking slowly down them, I still slipped and fell down 3-4steps. This caused me to gain 2 big bruises. I felt pain in my arm, leg and foot. Even now 3 days later I still have tenderness in the arm. I was being careful walking slowly but I think the step was quite slippery. I would suggest to be very careful to anyone staying here and ensure to hold on to the railing. Perhaps the hotel should consider some anti-slip guard.

This is in the heart of amsterdam central, 5 mins walk from amsterdam central station. It's very good for going around the area and walking around amsterdam, the rooms were clean and suitable for 3 travellers, showers were fine. The stairs are long and tight, but other than that, no complaints.

Hotel Damrak Inn is conveniently located right next to the train station, canal tours, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The location could not be better—it’s truly within walking distance of nearly everything you’ll want to see in Amsterdam.
The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. What really stood out, though, was the amazing staff. Every team member we met was personable, helpful, kind, and genuinely fun to talk to, which made our stay even more enjoyable.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be right in the heart of Amsterdam, with easy access to all the sights and experiences the city has to offer.

Cons: not wheelchair friendly, or friendly if you have any luggage, even to get up to the reception desk you need to go up stairs. Also, there wasn't really a proper door on the toilet, they were more like glass saloon doors. Also, the bed really wasn't comfy at all.

The room was clean and comfortable, the toilet was also very clean. The location of the hotel was very central, 5-7 min walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Plenty of metro/tram lines nearby. Dam square a few minutes walk away with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The receptionist and housekeeping team were very friendly and professional throughout the stay. Free coffee machine for guests which seems like nothing but really does improve the experience. Luggage room available if arriving in Amsterdam before check in time or leaving Amsterdam late in the afternoon/evening. No complaints with the WiFi. The only thing you should consider is that as the hotel is located in quite a central place it can be quite noisy during the day, however, during the night it was fine. The price was extremely reasonable and affordable for such a hotel in a good location.

Central Location, but mind the steps!

This hotel is not flashy, but to get 2 adults and 3 teenagers into a room together where we had a private bathroom and each had our own bed, I’m not complaining at all! It’s right on the main drag in Amsterdam, so you’re within walking distance to everything. We were on the 4th floor, so the kids thoroughly enjoyed opening the large window and people watching well into the evening. The only thing is the stairs - no elevator, and 67 steps to get to our room. Definitely doable for me at 5’2”, but my husband and son were constantly hitting their heads while simultaneously navigating the incredibly narrow and spiral-like staircase. To me, it all just adds to the adventure! It’s a budget hotel, but in a great location and was clean and comfortable - I was happy!

If you are traveling with any sort of luggage, do not stay at this place. They don’t show how many stairs there are at this property. The staff is rude, not accommodating, and don’t care about your needs. I messaged them days in advance if they can accommodate us to a lower floor due to one of our travelers being handicapped, however, they ignored that request and put us on the top floor with an injury, resulting in falling down from the stairs. I am extremely disappointed with this stay and highly encourage everyone to not book this stay.

Family of four visits Amsterdam,

It was difficult to find. It is literally on small sign next to a Fries shop. We arrived at night and the streets were crowded so we could not see the door. Other reviews weren't lying when they said super steep and narrow stairs. Luckily we travelled with backpacks so we managed okay. No lift/elevator. The room had 5 beds and it was a tight fit. The location is right on Damrak and steps away from Amsterdam Centraal and all the shops and restaurants. This is my 3rd time in Amsterdam and in general their spaces are small. No fridge, but we were able to put our cans on the ledge by the window to chill them since we went during Chirstmas time. They do have a nice coffee machine and teas in the check in desk. Wish they had a lobby for sitting.

We booked a 5 person room, and my family and I were happy with it. The rooms are small, but we only planned on sleeping and showering there.

The staff were engaged, but also just left you alone. The streets out front can get very loud at night, due to all the tourist chatting out front. So you may want to keep that in mind.

The location to canal tours, museums, Red light district starts one street over, Dam Square, coffee shops, is right in the heart of it all. It will be busy on the street, as all tourists walk this area.

The hotel is a nice little older gem, and is great for a budget friendly choice.

We traveled with two adults, and 3 teenage boys, and it was a great little place to call home for the week.

If you are looking for square footage, then this is not the place for you, but if you want a hotel right in the middle of Amsterdam, then take a chance.

Damrak Inn is a downtown Amsterdam hotel close to Amsterdam Central train station. It’s location makes it a great choice for the day travelers that need to use railway services and have easy downtown access . The hotel is located in an old historical building with narrow staircases and smaller rooms which is typical for European cities especially Amsterdam. Very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. I did have to pay a 20 euro fee at check in I wasn’t aware of and they prefer cards not cash also they required ID for everyone which is also pretty standard. The downside is that at night the area is very lively and laud, many partygoers around so if you’re looking for a quiet place this is definitely NOT the one. Also if you have a large suitcase it may not fit the narrow stairs. For our purpose (close to train station) it worked great!

for what I paid it wasn’t up to standard. Stayed for 3 days. Was only given a towel on day 1, requested a clean towel the second day was told I would be given one the following morning. Never received clean towels. Floor was dirty. Advertised as having own bathroom however bathroom wasn’t located in the room - photos were a bit deceiving. Bedroom light was broken and permanently stuck on. Only way to sleep with the light off was to disable power which meant we couldn’t charge phones, have aircon running or the tv. The location was good, walking distance to everything. Unfortunately that’s the only positive thing I can say.

Location couldn't be better! A few minutes walk from Centraal train station, Metro, and Tram. As it is directly along the main corridor, there is street noise from pedestrians, vehicles, and rumbling of trams. It didn't bother us at all though, just a caution for those travelers who need quiet.

Location is surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, small supermarkets, and stores. You walk out of the hotel directly into the energy of the city.

It is not handicapped-friendly, only stairs (no lift observed).

Surprisingly an amazing stay. Damrak was a pleasure to stay in, a hidden gem in my opinion. Didn’t look like much from outside but upon arriving at the room, we was pleasantly surprised. We was lucky to stay in room 51 which had an unexpected balcony. Bathroom, sheets, floor, walls were too clean and too nice for the cost of the room. Very well deserving of this review. Cutest little hotel - cozy for couples. A couple notes: our room was quite warm even with window open, can’t imagine how hot it would be in the summer; if you are planning to bring large luggage it will be a pain to get up the stairs. Overall, I loved our stay here and would recommend it to any couple looking for a quaint little stay!

Room was really nice and the beds were comfy. However the windows let lot of noise in and it was extremely hard to sleep. Walls could do with some soundproofing as you could hear everything in the hotel. Great that free tea and coffee is provided, however, tea was never refilled all weekend while we were there. Dirty floors, hairs in the bed, no shower gel, people smoking on the ceiling of the building outside our room, there was a fight in the hotel at 3.10am and there was so much noise. The children were very scared and we spoke to the receptionist the next day and she didn’t say anything. Wouldn’t stay here ever again. It was terrible

Stayed at the Damrack for one night only in order to catch an early flight next morning and wanted a 'cheap' place to sleep near to Central Station.
The room was spotless, beds very comfy and the shower/loo clean and adequate.
With 24 hours reception, we felt safe returning late at night.
Quite a few steep stairs to climb but shall certainly stay here again. Thank you.

Probably the nicest budget BB I’ve stayed at on the Damrak. 5 minutes walk from the central station, quick check in, modern rooms and clean. Really quiet too but not sure if this is because I had a room on the side street. There was obvious construction going on in the hotel but very minimal distribution to my stay and no overly load construction / workers. Received some bites in the room. Really expensive at six hundred dollars a night but don't know if its because of Amsterdam and the dates. One of the most expensive places I've ever stayed in my life. To be fair, it was all expensive based on availability. However, the accomodations was at the level of a hostal but with a private bathroom. The location is about 50m from the central damrak square.

Damrak inn is on the Damrak with in site of Amsterdam central. You really can’t get more central than this and it’s really inexpensive. But it feels more like a college dorm, old building very plain interior. Front desk is staffed 24/7 with helpful people. Bathrooms are clean beds and rooms are spartan. House comes daily so no it’s not a 5 star hotel but if you want a safe place in the center of Amsterdam for less than $100 look no further, mind hostels near by charge $40 plus for dorm rooms.

Top Gaff, Unreal Location, Stairs are hard to climb after a few... Stuff of nightmares, but apart from that you should be fine, we was on the 4th floor so had 4 flights of stairs but it was fine and worth it for the location and price. Highly recommended. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms cleaned daily and to a high standard.

The staff was very helpful in light of what they have to deal with.
The building should be condemned, the smell inside my small room was horrible, burned myself in the shower due to faulty water regulator and I woke up with bug bites.
Frankly the owners should be ashamed, not only for how they let such a piece of realty fall apart but for what they charge. I paid more for three nights in that tiny smelly room than I did for four nights in a 3 stars hotel in Sorbonne, Paris! That one was super clean and in a prime central area.
There should be a governmental body that inspects these hotels. Very unsanitary.

This was an alright choice for a few days. The stairs up to check in and rooms are pure Dutch, STEEP and narrow. Price was quite reasonable for a high time of year and very convenient location. Don't expect too much: the room was bare bones, but clean and comfy enough. Somewhat noisy when others go up-down stairs, not a big deal, though. Wouldn't want to be in the room much more than just to sleep, but as a visitor you shouldn't be anyway.

Right in the heart of Amsterdam Central however access to the front desk and room are via a step stairway. The internet was very good. Coffee and tea were free at the front desk. I would not want to have a big suitcase and negotiate those stairs. The access door is easily missed as there is a popular fries stand to the left of the door. The patrons of the fries store were blocking the entry almost every time I went in and out. The hotel is across the street from the picture on the sight. It was adequate for my one night visit.
