The place was perfect for me.
The check in guy/ bartender was spot on. I tweaked my knee the night before getting there, and they put me on the first floor.
The area was perfect, active with bars and food, great atmosphere.
I'd stay there again in a heart beat.

Stayed in their second building room 401. Location was spot on. The guy checking us in was very smart and professional. Bit noisier on the Thursday night we stayed compared to the Wednesday. Room basic but good. I find in Amsterdam they only ever have a bathroom mirror. Full length mirror would always be appreciated.
The shower head was a bit limp due to not being able to move the connector that moves up and down the shower for height. It was however lovely and warm. Heating needed put on high for even a small bit of warmth, but because the room is small it warmed up very quickly I had to turn it off again.
Plenty of room to put luggage.
The tv never worked but it didn't bother us as we were tired or out and about.
Always find in Amsterdam as well there's always a little bit of dust around that's been missed mainly in room corners or on the top of plugs. This was one of the better places we have stayed. Would stay again. Beds and pillows the comfiest we have had also. Was also the only place that didnt have free coffee making facilities either in the room or reception area. People usually complain about the thin 'amsterdam stairs' but you just have to know what you're booking and do your research. We were fully aware what we may be walking up.

Great location in the centre of everything. Compact room with an unusual layout but it actually worked well for two people sharing. Comfortable and clean. You may want ear plugs if you are a light sleeper as its in a busy area and people come and go frequently.

I’d read reviews that rooms are small….. yes they’re small- it’s Amsterdam! Literally the room is the size of a full bed (my room had a single bed and some space beside it) but it also had a bathroom which was great! Honestly I loved it. Clean, cozy, excellent location! No complaints whatsoever.

I left the property.I didn’t stay. I didn’t make it to the room. The rooms are above a bar. There was a huge amount of steep , narrow stairs. It was old and had an odor. I went to a hotel by the airport. No elevator!
It was close to the train station around a 6 minute walk. The doors to the bar/hotel were locked until after 9:30 AM. It would help to leave a sign on the door in English that you could leave your bags at their partner hotel- The Crown about a block away around the corner and across the small bridge. Instead, there’s a phone number to call which gives these directions in Dutch. I had a kind Dutch woman to call for me. She gave me directions in English.

The room we stayed in was newly remodeled. The beds were very comfortable. The room was very tiny but that is to be expected in a European city center.This hotel is a five minute walk from the train station and easy walking all over Amsterdam. The bar tender/ hotel manager was nice to talk with and accommodating for luggage storage and cheese refrigeration! It was a lovely stay.

The hotel is very close to the train station and perfectly placed for getting round the city easily on foot. I stayed in a double room which was small, but very clean and comfortable. The stairs up to the room are very steep and narrow, so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The only downside to my stay was the noise from the karaoke bar opposite. The bar is open until 3am and unfortunately there is no soundproofing on the windows. I would definitely stay there again - I would just remember to take ear plugs!

Me and a friend stayed 2 nights, and we were in the building just down from the hotel as it's in 2 separate buildings.
The part where we stayed was nice, beds were comfy and shower was good.
Yes it's basic but we booked knowing that. If I'm being picky the room we had could have been cleaner. But we were out all day and only used it to sleep.
Location was great. Near to Amsterdam Central Train station and trams. It was quite quiet too. We did go beginning of February so may have been different if we went during peak time.
Over all our stay was good and I would go back again.

The thing I loved about this hotel was the young man bar tending at the check in desk. He was getting the runaround, from a woman from the United States. She had no idea how to work the heater in the room, which made it apparent that she had never been to Northern Europe before. I listened as she argued with him on the phone for 20 minutes about how her heater wasn’t working, and she had just turned it on. She then complained about the stairs. Then she complained about the size of her TV. To which the young gentleman replied, this is a very cheap two star hotel. You hardly paid anything to stay here, why are you expecting the Ritz Carlton? I love the brutal honesty. Overall, the room was OK. be prepared to climb stairs, as there is no elevator.

Okay but not staying again

Staying in this hotel was an okay experience. The only issue that I had was that the stairs leading to the higher floors were too steep. This can pose as a safety hazard and it was difficult to carry luggage up them.

The place is close to the central station and lots of cool places outside that you can visit. There is a good chinese restaurant and a great breakfast place near the hotel.

This place is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood, conveniently near a metro station, making it easy to travel to various destinations. The staff was very helpful and friendly. However, I did have a couple of concerns: the room was quite small, and the bathroom was located right next to the bed, which meant you could hear everything, haha. Additionally, there were no hangers in the bathroom, making it difficult to place towels nearby; as a result, I had to put them on my bed.

They don’t have an elevator, so it was very difficult to get my luggage up to my room. The lady who checked me in, got me to the first floor, but the stairs are extremely steep the floors like in many old buildings are uneven. You have to step up into the room and step down, and there was a hole in my towel

Great experience overall. 10-15 minute walk from Central station, hotel is centrally located with a quaint bar available for drinks. Clean room and nice bathroom. Secure door access to allow for late night adventuring.

One should be aware that this is Amsterdam, so everywhere this close to Central station is somewhat noisy, and the room is not spacious. And there are stairs (narrow too). But a comfortable and clean place to set up for the night makes up for it.

Won’t repeat. Room was big enough to fit the mattress and that was about it. No room for my suitcase, no safe, no refrigerator, walked up 4 flights of narrow and steep stairs. Only good thing was location. Maybe it’s normal for this city but will look elsewhere for next time.

Yes. This place smells like sewage in the bathroom at times. However, close the bathroom door and you are fine. The location is EXCELLENT, and the dude running the bar/rooms is super sweet. The curtains and walls were a wee bit dirty but the beds, floor and bathroom were very very clean. That’s all that really matters right? Felt very safe coming from Central Station even late at night.

Great location. There are two beds laid side by side so it makes cuddling with your spouse difficult. The shower and sink drained water slowly so you have to be careful not to overflow anything. Beyond that, it was a great stay!

Lovely character hotel located in central Amsterdam, close to the Central Train Station and within walking distance of many restaurants and pubs and attractions. The staff are amazingly friendly, helpful and accommodating. The double room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

Amazing location! Right in the heart of the action. Had a small room with two twin beds. Not much room to stage a suitcase. Speaking of suitcases, just be prepared to carry your suitcase up several flights of stairs as there is no lift. The staircase is very steep...understandable given the age of the buildings.
