Unfortunately there was a considerable amount of dust above the headboards and the floor. The window was left open prior to our arrival, which meant that we found the stay to be really cold and it didn’t warm with the lack of heating. We found a joint in the room too. There wasn’t any mirrors except in the bathroom, which was too high up to see properly. The shower also flooded the bathroom, which wasn’t ideal for a group of 4 girls trying to get ready.

Yes room was good, front staff were helpful. The cleaners were very noisey with the rubbish bags on the second floor throughout the day.

Yes not best time to try sleep during the day, but when your out to 4 or 5am appreciate a little peace for 8 til 11am at least. But other than that a good place to stay for a couple of nights :)

The location of the hotel is near Dam Square, is a very popular tourist location, very dirty and noisy. The hotel itself doesn’t have an elevator, so we had to climb 3 floors in stairs, with suitcases full and heavy. The hotel is on top of a Steakhouse restaurant, if you open the windows just a little bit the whole room smells like smoked meet. And there isn’t any air conditioner or fans in the bedroom, it is also so small and the bedsheets had holes in them. The sink in the bathroom was clogged and the water took a long time to drain. The shower was very small and the water splashed all over the bathroom, because the shower glass had a crack in it. We used the bathroom rug to try and dry it but it didn’t work very well. The maid left the wet rug there and didn’t change any of the towels and there wasn’t any face (hand) towels. There wasn’t a mini fridge for water. The lighting were very poor. The location was in the city centre, good thing because it’s a walking distance from every main point of the city.

Definitely a no frills kind of place, if you're fine with that. Perfect location for exploring Amsterdam, just steps away from Centraal and within walking distance of many of the major attractions in Amsterdam.

Like the other reviews have said though, this place is quite old and run down. It isn't clean (lots of dust on the floors, stains on the sheets and towels, and the bathroom smells because of the old plumbing). We brought our own sheets though. 😅 The stairs are steep, so keep in mind if you have a lot of bags. Also, it's very very loud at all hours with very thin walls so bring earplugs!

Last minute booking due to cancelled train back to London so arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning. Receptionist who checked us in was very friendly. The room was clean but did not have a lot of space to walk around. The condition of the toilet was ok. Free coffee machine for guests. The hotel was quiet which was nice for a good nights rest

Old hotel with small room but well located

Lady at the front desk was able to check us in early which was appreciated after a long overnight flight. Location was good for downtown Amsterdam but street noise didn’t die down until about 2 or 3 AM. Lots of narrow stairs to rooms. Room was very small for two people even though we had a double bed. Paying for location here, room was a place to sleep.

I liked the location near the station. The street outside was filthy and very busy… there are much nicer parts of Amsterdam! Room was very tiny, basically just a bed. Bathroom was very small but reasonably well updated. The room was very noisy with constant banging of doors closing and voices of other occupants. Steep narrow staircases with no elevator. Luckily I’m fit and healthy… many people would have a hard time negotiating the stairs I’m sure, especially with luggage. Overall the price was very high for what I got!

We had a major bedbug infestation in our room. I have at least 50 bites and we were squishing them and blood was coming out of them. We let the front desk know and I submitted pictures. The room was extremely small for 3 people. We didn’t have anywhere to even put our suitcases. The stairs are very narrow and steep and hard to navigate especially with a suitcase.

The area was great and the staff was helpful. However the cleanliness was not up to par. The walls of the room were dirty and stained. The sheets had yellow stains and there was a used cigarette on the floor under the bed. We do not smoke and we booked a nonsmoking room. The cigarette was there when we arrived and still on the floor after we left after they came into our room to “clean” it everyday. I would not stay here again

I would not recommend this property. The AC did not work, the TV did not work, room was very loud. We were woken up by construction workers outside of our window every morning. The room was TINY…could barely walk between the beds. The sheets were dirty. Staff did not address any of our concerns. Only positives I can think of is that the shower was nice and the coffee in the lobby was free.

Black mold in bathroom

Comfortable and spacious room near everything, but there was visible black mold in the shower. The room’s air quality felt compromised as a result. We didn’t use the shower, tried not to spend time in the bathroom, kept that door closed as much as possible, and tried not to be in the room except for sleeping. Not ideal at all. We hate leaving bad reviews, but this should be remedied before being offered to guests.

No frills hotel but wouldn’t have an issue staying again. You don’t get much for your money hotel wise in Amsterdam because everyone want to go there!
I had a room that was basically in the Reception so I could hear all the phone calls, the radio, and everyone wandering in and out and their conversations - so unless you have a pair of noise cancelling headphones (which I did) then you’d maybe won’t to request not getting one of those rooms. Who goes to Amsterdam to sleep anyway?

however rooms are a bit cramped. Bathrooms are small too and the one we had has the ceiling diagonally sloping so we had to stoop down.

No elevators and the stairs are steep so if you have heavy luggages make sure you can carry them.

It’s not a five star hotel or anything, it’s right by the train station and right on Damrak which is an insanely busy street which is what makes this hotel great for convenience. But what made it great - my husband and I had just taken an 8 day cruise and a 6 hour train to get to Amsterdam from South England and we were both not feeling too great due to motion sickness, when they saw how poorly my husband was doing they gave us a room on a lower floor and were very kind and tried to keep our spirits up because we were doing BAD. Bathroom was nice, the room was clean, just a little noisy but was to be expected. Thanks to everyone at Manofa!

The property is in a great location in the city. Staff were very friendly. Very happy with our stay. Our only complaint would be the noise. Not the hotels fault but during our stay there were some works happening to the building. Leading to banging and drilling at silly times right at our window. Other than that happy with our stay for the price we paid and would recommend.

The hotel was centrally located..but that was the only perk. The front door is always open to a very busy street. The staff is not very helpful and a bit rude. They always say “I’ll have to speak to my manager”. The manger is never in. The rooms are tiny with limited places to put anything. There is mold in the bathroom. We found bed bugs twice. Let them fumigate once and found them again the next day.

The property and rooms are also very unsanitary. Amazing place, but far from perfect

An absolutely fantastic location right in the heart of it all. The price affordable and the staff was super helpful when asked.

That being said, there was too much furniture for that tiny/cozy room. The minuscule pillows were very comfy but also the size was of Chicklets. While it was manageable, no fitted sheets? I mean really, I’m mean it’s 2025.

No refrigerator. Not a dealbreaker, but inconvenient. Also oddly no food allowed in the rooms, but enforced as well as building security. (See below). The television was medium to terrible, though fellow current events junkies would appreciate that 97% of available programming was news.

While I am not a fearful person, being on a the lowest level but above the street, the security was unmistakably poor. The often wide open, and never locked front door, anyone from the street could easily get up the giant flight of stairs to nearly any spot in the property. So, it’s more like a motel than hotel— so not even really is not buyer beware— just buyer be aware.

The hotel had a great location but that was the only good thing about the hotel. We visited while they were having some maintenence work done on the outside of the building and we would wake up every morning because of the noises. The hotel didn't have any stairs and was difficult to move around with luggages. Needless ti comment on the size of the room... very uncomfortable..
They found bed bugs in the room next to us!

For one night somewhere to rest our heads after a busy day sightseeing. Hotel reception was a little hectic. Room had 3 small singles which was fine for one night but any longer would have been a challenge. Room space could be re designed to optimise space. So many bedside tables and things in the way. Beds comfy. Would have liked extra pillows. Bathroom great and shower was really powerful. Great location. No lift just lots of stairs but
We didn’t mind. Would stay again if we needed a place to stay in the city.

Seen lots of bad reviews but honestly this place was spot on for anyone needing big attractions within walking distance. The room was clean and had a nice bathroom with walk in shower no complaints at all. Free hot drinks 24/7 and vending machines in reception. We were greeted by a great receptionist who explained everything very well. Even when we left another receptionist asked if we remembered our phones and passports as he could tell we had been to coffee shop. Overall 5 stars from me great for a fair priced stay in the city centre

The lack of elevator to get to the 3rd floor was interesting. Thankfully one of the lovely staff members helped us when we arrived but no one was available when checking out. We dubbed the stairs as the 'death stairs' as they were small and not full sized steps which seemed a hazard when carrying large and heacy suitcases. Bathroom wasnt as clean as expected and room was tiny. Knees almost touching the sink when using the toilet. Rooms are not sound proof and you can hear anyone walking up and down the stairs during the night disturbing sleep. Location wise this property is perfect with it being a few minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal. Likely would stay again if travelling on own and not carrying suitcases.

BED BUGS INFESTATION!!! Me and my friends got bitten all over our body and when we removed the sheets we wanted to throw up!! Stay away from this place if you don’t want to have a terrible time.

On top of that, This hotel doesn’t have an elevator so good luck climbing to your room.

Staff were great, all spoke great English, Reception is open 24/7 ! Our rooms were clean and tidy! Pillows Bedding and Towels!!

Showers were so powerful they blew you to bits!! Again amazing!!

Honestly it was just perfect!

Alot of stairs. Steep spiral which i believe is common in amsterdam.

Location. Location. Location. The hotel is one of the best place to stay if you’re aim is to get out and explore Amsterdam. Basic place amenities. We paid a little over $600 for our 4-day stay in Amsterdam. Room is with two twin beds. Not the most comfy but when you’ve done walking close to 15k steps exploring, it’ll do. Small TV, but we didn’t come to watch tv. No phone. We brought our own obviously. No flat iron, no microwave, no refrigerator. Its own bathroom looks updated except the ceiling. Hot water worked all the time just fine. There’s a sign by the hallway saying “No food in the rooms please?” It was typical euro room in the city center. No elevator which was not really a big deal for us. The location can NOT be beat tho. It’s on Damrak. 5 minute walk from Ams Centraal. Walkable to and from most Ams attractions. The staff were friendly enough. Ready to assist anytime. Free coffee, espresso, cappuccino or hot tea at the reception area which was manned 24/7. We got fresh towels and bed made every day. It’s not a big posh place. Noise from outside the room can be heard. Smoking is NOT allowed. No big deal. Felt secure enough. Ultimately, for the price, it’s a win. Will return if visiting for a short stay. Good enough place that served its purpose.
