Room was basic and a wee bit tired in places but the bed was spotless clean and they changed it everyday. The balcony was a good size and the stairs you defo need to be able bodied. A great place to stay though and I would defo stay again.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the nicest staff members. They remained pleasant throughout the entire stay. Loved the location. It was a short walk to everything we were wanting to do and the cafe directly beside the room was very convenient. The hotel itself was extremely noisy. We did not sleep well either night with the rumbling upstairs, the dripping in the wall, and all the noise that was coming in and out of the hallway. The lock on the door did not bolt and seemed as if someone could kick it in easily. The room was cleaned, but seemed out of date; dip in floor, crooked shelving, etc. It's a nice, cheaper option, but I doubt I would stay here again.

Where do I start . The room looked nothing like advertised on the booking platform . It was dirty and run down . The room
Smelt awful too like a foul smell .
No way I could have taken my shoes off in there let alone sleep in the bed we had to find alternative accommodation.
The receptionist couldn’t have cared less . It ruined my first day in Amsterdam. Luckily we got another hotel but it was further out which was another added cost

We absolutely loved our 3 night stay. It was a large clean room, which was cleaned every day that we were there, with new towels provided.
The people working on reception were really nice and the location was absolutely perfect and excellent for exploring the city!
We would stay again when coming to Amsterdam!!

The room and staff were fine, but the wifi was so poor only my phone could use it. Two lights didn't work, so I turned on the TV to supplement the lighting. Well located except for having to climb a narrow stairwell to the 4th floor. And it was odd that reception was at a different address a few doors down. Maybe it was because of the weekend, but I paid less for more comfortable accomodations in Brussels and London. Still, it was the cheapest option and I would probably stay there again.

Within 15 min walk to station. Decent eateries not far away.

Room clearly had not been cleaned properly before our arrival. pastry crumbs on bedside table and floor beside the bed.

The bath towels were old and thin.

The lack of a lift seriously detracts from this place, the stairs are horrendous with 2 heavy suitcases. Does not suit older people like us. Very expensive for what you get.

They have bed bugs!! The 2nd floor smelled like sewer, there were no towels in our room on the first day, we had to ask for them. There was hardly any shower pressure. You have to walk two flights to check in at the hotel next door then walk down the street to walk up more steps to the actual hotel.

Don’t stay in this hotel, avoid at all cost. The pictures are inaccurate. The pics posted by Expedia are either the hotel 20 years ago or a sister renovated hotel. The area is currently renovated with a lot of roads work, juggling the homeless people was the beginning. When we open the front door, the foul humid smells were poignant. On the first floor, where our room was located, the dust and the shredded wall paper was visible. When we enter the room, the door was already opened as well as the window to certainly cover the vile smells, the room was filthy, stain in the toilets, more than dated shelf, amenities that didn’t work. Two lonely hangers to put your clothes, and nowhere to recharge your phones than the floors. The bed sheets smelled. And all that some something close to 200 GBP a night. This is really greed.
Hotel was full and not able to give another room, and they also offer the refund of our remaining 2 nights on the Saturday morning if we vacated the room by 12 with nowhere to go. It really felt like you don’t like it so just get out, that’s the way we deal with the issue.
The maintenance guy to try to fix the issue and house keeping on the Saturday and the bed sheets when from strange to bleach smells. House keeping didn’t do a good job mapping the floor as the cigarette wrapper were still under the beds.
Expedia customer service helped quickly and responsively, but nothing came out of it. Expedia must vet their properties for accuracy. We were missleading

Room and bedding was clean, although doors and woodwork needed repainting, and bathroom tiles were not done well. The additional door bolt didn't work. Lamp didn't work. TV was useless. Stairs were very steep and there were so many, and you have to go up 2 sets to check in, back down, and then up (for me) another 4 sets to get to room. The bed was rock hard. The bedding and towels were very clean and changed daily. Apart from one wall of tiling, and a weird tap design, the bathroom was decent and modern. Decent location. 20 minute walk to train station. Close to shops and city centre.

This hotel had no elevator and the stairs were very narrow and many. It was very challenging with luggage.
The reception clerk told us that we had to make sure that the bathroom door was closed when we took a shower or the fire alarm will go off. My husband used the bathroom and took a shower and the interior light (motion activated) turned off 3 times while he was in there.
At least they had a coffee machine but the room was very basic and cheap looking more like a youth hostel than a hotel.
The front doors to the rooms are spring loaded and our neighbour left the room maybe once an hour, letting the door slam shut which was very noisy and disturbing.
The hotel was close to the areas that we wanted to visit which was a plus, but the room looked nothing like the one advertised.
Not at all impressed with this hotel. Very disappointed.

Avoid room with no view

We stayed in a room which was described as with no view. It looked bright on the pics so I thought it had a window that was maybe looking at a wall or a bin yard. But it actually had no window. So I felt very vulnerable in case of fire as I only had 1 exit. The lights were very dim also so it felt even worse. We had one big and 1 small towel for 2 of us. The floor was lifting from where it had been left repeatedly wet and there was a putrid smell. It was less so in the bathroom so it wasn’t from the drains, we couldn’t figure out what it was. The stairs are very steep but I think it’s like that all over Amsterdam. I’m not saying don’t book this place but I’d recommend a different room. The lady on the reception a few doors down was nice.

The experience at this hotel was something I'd expect from a youth hostel, not a \"boutique\" hotel charging over $100 a night. We stayed 5 nights in two of the four attic rooms. My room was the one pictured in the listing, but my companion's room was much smaller, barely large enough to fit his \"queen\" bed (which was actually two twin mattresses together). His room had a fan, but no garbage can, and my room had a tiny garbage in the bathroom but no fan. The windows in my room did not shut and every morning I woke up covered in bug bites. The shower was incredibly awkward with low pressure and no curtain, and the entire bathroom smelled like a sewer all the time. Lastly, the listing does not mention that these rooms are up five flights of very steep, narrow stairs, so if you have limited mobility you should avoid this hotel.

The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful - when I told them that there was no mug for my hot water pot, they gave me a red Solo cup (it was a moot point anyway, since there was no tea or coffee offered), and the next day they left some paper cups with sugar packets. They did change the sheets and offer fresh towels every day, which was nice. And the location is very centrally located.

Overall, I would only recommend this hotel to students or young people looking for a place to crash after a night out, and even then only if there are not more affordable options available. And if you're the kind of person who doesn't skip leg day.

I have it one star because I made it through the experience without getting robed, and to the best of my knowledge there were no bedbugs. And those are the highlights. Seriously though, it was filthy, ridiculously hot in the room, and the tiny safe in the room was not fastened to anything. Anyone could have broken in to the room very easily and simply carried the safe away under their arm. The window was open and when I tried to close it filth showered down from on top of it. And it turns out it doesn’t lock anyway. I seriously considered abandoning the money I spent and looking for somewhere else…… anywhere else.

Worse hotel I've ever stayed in, no wardrobe/cupboard in the room so be prepared to live out your bag/suitcase, no fridge, TV couldn't get a signal and paid almost 100 quid a day for the privilege.

Amsterdam generally has the wost value for money hotels along with London, but this place was shocking!

We stayed on the 3rd floor room 302. The sewage smelled strong on arrival to the room, and the room next door was propped open with no one staying in it.
The next morning I woke up, I was covered in bites, my partner counted 78 bites, no exaggeration, of course I thought it was moskito bites, bought some antihistamine and cream and carried on with the holiday.
returning home to the u.k the bites still looked angry and not normal, went to a pharmacist first who said book an urgent doctors appointment, doctor said bed bug bites. THIS HOTEL IS INFESTED WITH NESTS OF BED BUGS, THE DOCTOR SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN SOMEONE COVERED THIS BADL

Worst hotel I’ve stayed in… I never leave bad reviews but this one deserves one. There was no air in the bedroom so the window had to stay open. We were bit by mosquitoes so much, it kept us up at night. There is blood on the walls from previous people killing mosquitoes. It was so hot in the room… but the bed only had 1 heavy cover, so we both sweat through the 1 cover. No bedsheets… The shower steam apparently causes the fire alarm to go off so we had to shower with the door closed… normally there wouldn’t be any issues here except that the light is a sensor, so it would turn off automatically within seconds. To add to this… the entire street is under construction so we were not able to sleep in past 7am. Definitely do not recommend.

There are 73 steep narrow steps up to the room. A nightmare with heavy suitcases.

The staff at the hotel were exceptionally kind and helpful, providing great customer service throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the quality of the rooms did not meet expectations. While the pricing is affordable, the accommodations reflect this—rooms were quite dated and dim, and the actual appearance did not match the photos shown online.

The hotel is conveniently located near major attractions, which is a definite plus. However, the surrounding area felt unsafe at times, particularly in the evenings.

Overall, the hospitality was excellent, but the condition of the rooms and the location may be considerations for future guests.

If you can avoid booking this hotel. It's terrible

It is an old Amsterdam building and it is fine but there is no elevator and the reception is in another building nearby. Carrying the suitcase up to the fourth floor was traumatic. The stairs are very narrow and there is no one to help. I am 66 years old and I travel alone. The room was very small, impossible to close the window was blocked. The bed was rather hard and narrow, there is absolutely no room to move. Overall the room and the small bathroom were clean apart from the smell of mold that is throughout the building. I strongly advise against those who need a minimum comfort. You will not find any here. I stopped for only 1 night, more difficult to resist. Also the price was in line with other much more comfortable hotels. I had a terrible time

I accidentally booked as non refundable as I was making several
Bookings. When I realised about the steep
Steps, as I did not realise this when booking, I contacted the hotel
Straight away. This was the next day. I appealed to them to refund us our money as I had booked 3 months ahead. They would

Knee reconstruction surgery and would not be able to handle the steep
Steps. They took the money out of our acct within the week. Two weeks before going I appealed again and asked if we could have a lower floor as my husbands knee was worse. Again the answer was no. They suck
At customer service as they could have easily rebooked this room.We ended up
Forfeiting the money as we felt it was just too dangerous to negotiate the steps. We stayed somewhere else. Yes, I know it was my booking mistake but where is the compassion?

This hotel is off the streets through a very narrow set of steep and long staircases. Overall look is very dark and sketchy. I’m not completely sure if this is normal in the area, but definitely wouldn’t recommend to solo travelers. There was a chewed gum stuck on the bed. I had to leave after seeing that. They never called me back or tried to contact me in any way.

I didn’t stay although I had prebooked and didn’t get any refund.
The photographs bore no resemblance to the actual room
There did not seem to be any escape route.
The balcony of my room was connected to the room adjoining, with no way of securing unless I slept with the doors firmly shut and would therefore have been very hot as there was no other form of ventilation.
The staircase was very steep, long, and not very clean
The staff however were very personable and nice
I would not recommend Expedia in this situation as they have not presented the condition of the room

The room didn’t look as in photos. It was very ran down. A weird nasty smell in the room, probably from the old pipes. Not pleasant. Also the room was on the 3rd floor with very steep staircases. The hotel was very noisy during the nights because of the other guests. As cherry on top we found a roach in the bed. However, the staff was very friendly and the location is very central.

I could tell as soon as I walked in everything looked dirty and partially cleaned. By partially I mean the bed was made and the garage was changed other than that everything was dirty and the safe was locked. I asked them to open the safe and it took 2 days which I never ended up using. By the end of our 4 day stay my girlfriend woke up with bed bugs bites all over her legs it was disgusting and completely unacceptable, would never stay again or recommend. We were in a rush on the day we were leaving so I never brought it up to the front desk however I should’ve and I should’ve asked for some sort of refund as this is completely unacceptable and I knew right when I walked into the room it looked dirty..

I wouldn’t book it it again. Here is why…

- It is not cheap, compare to what it is
- Very small room and bathroom.
- Some of the sheets had stains.
- Beds were sunk down.
- The bathroom light doesn’t turn off, so it is on all the time.
- The bedroom had an interesting smell
- The wall are super thin. The person next to us had at least 3-4 hour call in the middle of night and you can hear everything. Luckily he checked out on the next day.

Location is perfect for just walking around and lots of locations to eat near, we stayed in the attic so the 4 flights of the steepest steps ever every night was a lot but not too bad, definitely wouldn’t book if you have knee, leg or hip issues. Rooms were clean and maintained everyday, would stay here again.

Accommodation was very unlike what was shown online. Staff were helpful when asked for things like towels or new TV remote but over all facilities were poor.

Good location but there are much cleaner, better equipped and centrally located hostels you'd be better off in.

In the pictures below you'll notice there's no bedside tables with any lamps on them, that's ok because the bathroom light cannot be turned off so you don't need any.
OR you would see if this site would allow the pictures I'd taken but for some reason upload will not load.

We were provided with no space to place anything other than a poorly installed shelf that was stained and sticky, hopefully from a nice hair spray but I doubt it.

The mattress was thin and kept falling off the bed. Not an experience I'm used to.

The door to the balcony needs a kick to open.

Door to bedroom cannot be locked from the inside.

When asked to fix things, they will enter your room without asking.

The drain on the balcony is severely broken.

The light outside our door was flashing like a disco our entire stay. That made leaving our room risky as the cleaners always had at least one bag of washing on the floor at our door.

Overall, I'm sure not the worst in place to lay your head in Amsterdam but I'll not be returning nor recommending.

We stayed on the 5th floor and it was really difficult to bring luggage up the stairs as there was no elevator. The room was extremely small (which we were aware of prior to booking) so I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless it’s for a few night like we did. There was a horrible smell in the bathroom during our entire stay. However, other than the smell the room was very clean and in an amazing location with with walking distance to all the major sights.

The property was close to the centre of Amsterdam, but to get to our room we had to climb steep and dangerous staircases with two large heavy bags with no help. The people at reception which was a couple of doors down and a mountain goat climb to get up there were unbelievably non hospitable, off hand and rude.

It should be disclosed in the description how many stairs are in this property and it’s not the fact of stairs it’s how steep and thin they are. You can’t even put your full foot on a stair you have to go up sideways. I do not recommend this for any elderly, kids, or disability’s! However the room was okay, the bathroom however REEKED of mildew and mold. Yes it’s been remodeled but the smell is potent you need to have the door closed at all times, to make it go away. The worst part was on our last night we went up to our fourth floor room and our card was deactivated. And it was because the night prior the room beside us which was 402 was having visitors ams a party. Loud music on the balcony outside our window from 12am-6am and they were smoking and talking. We weren’t going to get up to complain but we weren’t even able to open our window because of how uncomfortable we were with them being able to see inside of our room while we’re sleeping. However when our key got declined the following day it was because the hotel said it was us! I repeatedly said it was us but they said security said it was us and we would be marked that we could not stay again! It was genuinely so disrespectful the way they spoke to my partner and I. Despite having cameras all over the damn hotel, they blatantly and disrespectfully accused us. And for paying $400 for three nights, you’d think they wouldn’t be so rude about it. Despite that the location is good with food and stores surrounding it.

Smells so bad....

The entire building had a terrible smell. When we arrived there was black hair in the bathroom and an empty cigarette carton on the balcony. I asked if we could cancel our second two nights after the first night but was denied. I got bites all over my back that found several reviews complaining about bed bugs. I would avoid this place.

Avoid!!!

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at, it really smelt bad the toilet and sink are in front of each other so you end up head butting the sink when you need to wipe! The radiator made a loud noise all day and night the bedding wasn’t changed once you get hand towels as bath towels and the Tv didn’t work we had the worst time because of this hotel.

We were warned about the stairs but they were very steep and 2 flights up difficult to carry suitcases. Shower light kept flicking off which was annoying. Cracked bathroom vanity wasn’t great. But bed was nice and good location.

Massive stairs to reception and reception quite dated but could not fault the room clean had balcony cleaned every day with fresh flowers , could smoke on balcony not for everyone but was great for us . Traffic noise is a lot but we didn’t mind it other than that great experience staff really friendly would stay again

Okey for the price in the central of the city it was okey but after all. No privacy, the cleaner knock the door and two seconds before i answer, she open the door and helped herself in. Like I could have been naked and she walked through like nothing. Very disappointed.

Upon arrival staff took 15 minutes to show up and check us in. Even then they seemed like they couldn’t be bothered. The whole hotel is old fashioned, worn and not maintained. We paid extra for a twin room and was given a double. The shower in the room did not work and the guy tried to tell us it was fine. Our keycard stopped working for the door so we struggled to get into the hotel and then he just said it shouldn’t be an issue. Overall just very disappointing.

P.s. don’t take a massive suitcase because you will have to carry it up 4 flights of stairs which are like trying to walk up a cliff.

Horrible and dirty property. They gave us a room
In the third floor that smells like gas. Even the guy at the desk told us not to take a shower with the door close because of the steam and didn’t wanted to die. Ned was dirty and let’s not talk about the bathroom so disgusting and dirty. Everything in the room was dirty and old. I don’t recommend this place not even to my worse enemy. Don’t even go there!

First of all the location is great. Walk to Anne frank house (except i couldn't get in because you have to book 6 weeks ahead, be warned) and you can walk to the royal palace.
First night we got there, in the middle of the night temperature was 50 degree (F) and so cold we couldn't sleep. We told the front desk young gentleman who said no worries heating will be up in a few hours it takes time.
still no heat out of the heat system at all. Had to keep warm huddling together. Next day I discovered the answer to the aged heat radiation system in a knob in the corner of the window that kept the system off.
Second night i brought a stained coffee kettle to the same gentleman and asked if i can leave it there so that they can send me a clean one but he told me to come back to him later as he is checking guests in and for me to bring back later he didn't want me to leave it there.
The building has no elevator and there is a very steep and narrow stair case to the second floor (almost the third floor because the ceilings are very tall) that every day you need to navigate. I watched with amusement two young ladies growling to haul their suit case up the stairs as they nicely declined my offer to help.
The lights in the bathroom would automatically turn off every few minutes as you would need to get out of the shower and wave your arms at the ceiling for 4-5 times each shower to turn it on. Same thing when you sit on the toilet. The walls are very thin so you hear folks scurrying

This place is a scam! Rooms look nothing like the pictures. They will not store luggage despite the welcome email stating they do. The room condition was laughable. Our window was held open by a scrap of wood. We weren’t informed of the multiple flights of narrow and extremely steep stairs until
months after booking and payment. Don’t waste your money.

Perfect hotel, me and my brothers were here for a city break and this hotel was surrounded by culture. The workers were so friendly and invited us for conversation at many times. The stairs were quite steep but this is something that was quickly forgotten as the other aspects were perfect!

None of the photos looked anything like the property it was very outdated and dark as lights were broken, with tons of stairs to get up. Water temperature and pressure was inconsistent in the shower. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance and the room was serviced daily but still not what we were expecting

I walked 37 steps with my luggage, to the receptionist to check-in. Come down , then walk 72 stairs to my room on the fourth floor.

As an elderly with a back condition it bothers me. I asked for a lower room, they said they were fully booked . My 3 nights there were pain and suffering.

There are 2 massive flights of steep stairs. I’m young so it’s not a huge deal for me, but this property is not handicap or senior friendly. The reception is at the hotel next door which is not very convenient. The room itself was pretty small, and looks absolutely nothing like the pictures. Much less recently renovated. Location was great and the balcony was nice.
