Hotel Di-Ann provided a wonderful stay. The accommodations are small, but you’ll spend most of your time in the city anyways. Just a short walk from Dam Square and City Centre for shopping and museums or Jordaan for great food and drinks. The staff were all so kind. I recommend Di-Ann for your next stay in Amsterdam.

The location is nice but the hotel is really really, like really, old! The mattresses are really really uncomfortable. Ultra rigid was feeling like sleeping on the floor! The balcony i think hasn't gone clean in three/four years.

This is my 2nd stay here my 1st time i had a double room with balcony and this time paid extra for delux with balcony but the room was worse than the double, stained towels and stains on ceiling and paintwork was shabby and the room seemed smaller aswell however for a budget price i didnt want 2 cause a fuss and the staff was very friendly and helpful i will stay here again but wont pay extra for the delux and the location is great and having a balcony makes a difference

The coldest room ever. They didn’t turn on AC before, I came to room and did turn on but it took a while to make it warmer. I stayed one day and next morning room was warm.

The worst experience I have ever had. DONT GO THERE. All of the hotel smelled like smoke even the room. We arrived at midnight and when we saw the room, me and my other 2 friends I looked for another hotel to book. It was disguisting and smelled like smoke. It was snowing outside and the window of the room was wide open, I am sure to let go of the smoke. We were extremely tired so we slept, did not take a shower, and left the first thing in the morning. There was no shower, just a shower head in the middle of the bathroom. NEVER again. They should not be allowed to be a hotel.

Nothing was good about this stay, the room was filthy the bathroom had poo up the tiles, the lamps had dirty plasters stuck on them and didnt work. there was mold everywhere in the room and out of the room, you are given a coffee machine with no coffee or cups
The floor was sticky and was all peeling round the edges. The beds were as hard as bricked
We booked a double bed and got two singles pushed together.
Trip adviser had it advertised as a 3 star when it is only a 2 star
Booked 3 nights left on the second day
The fire alarms were going off multiple times in the night, was the worst hotel experience i have seen cleaner steet corners.
Pictures that were advertised online were not of the same hotel we stayed at.
There was no phone in the room as advertised.

I had a room with a Balcony with an amazing view of the city and a Canal i will be staying here again i would recommend to everyone thanks for amazing stay hope to see you again soon

Overall the stay at this hotel was okay. The place could do with some tlc and could be abit cleaner upon arrival. For some reason there was a bad sewage like smell coming from the bathroom so we had to be moved rooms. Despite a couple of issues staff were polite,understanding and resolved the issues which was good of them. Standard hotel room so no high expectations but a great location very close to central Amsterdam.

The tv did not work in the room and could not be sorted during our stay
the window did not close properly amd no catch
no blind to 1 window as it was ripped and unusable
The bathroom smelt of drains and there were rubbish /clothing from previous guests to which reception advised the cleaners will be in the next day , would like to think was cleaned before we arrived but clearly not

Great location away from all the evening noise, and less then a 5 minute walk to Dam Square.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Our beds were very comfortable, and there is even a balcony right outs side the front desk for smoking :-)

I truly am sad to review this hotel poorly as it has so many great points!
First you may miss the entrance as it is just a basic man door in between businesses. You and your luggage will need to travel 2 stories on steep/very short stairs that your foot will not fit on.
IF u manage that, you will be at reception. 5 stars for Staff! I think I am running out of space here. Balcany was fabulous, Room was more spacious than usual in Europe (I am Cdn). I requested a Porter to assist with my luggage that I was more than willing to pay handsomely, I was told that would not happen. Anywho Fabulous location IF you are Very FIT.

Run down, steep, bathroom needs to be replaced, windows needs sorting, bedroom floor needs to be sorted and it was mentioned that there was a safe and fridge in the rooms which there wasn’t. It’s clear the cleaning staff are trying their best but the rooms need to be redone. A lot of other complaints were made by other guests during the stay which speaks for itself! It’s cheap and doable for a couple nights but I would look elsewhere beforehand

Extremely Disappointing Stay!

We tried to cancel our stay after reading reviews about bed bugs, but the hotel refused. They told Expedia.ca they would ensure a “well-appointed” room, yet what we received was far below that promise.

While the sheets appeared clean, most of the room was poorly maintained — curtains hanging off the rail, ceiling tiles with water damage, and flooring peeling up. An outdoor patio table had been brought inside from the balcony. There was no hand soap or tissues, and the bathroom smelled musty.

Common areas were dirty, and balconies had cigarette butts floating in containers. The fire alarm went off three times during our stay; the receptionist said it was due to showers, and no evacuation or notice was given. One morning there was no hot water, apparently off since the day before, with no notice to guests.

We didn’t encounter bed bugs, thankfully, but overall the hotel was in poor condition and far below the quality expected from an Expedia listing.

That was disgusting and grossest place I’ve ever been to as soon as I checked in, walked into the room and checked out this unacceptable place disgusting a role and I have all the pictures to prove it mold on the bathroom ceiling yellow stains on the old towels inappropriately cleaned from previous guest sexual toys. Condoms were left from two days prior to my stay. Never stay here. The staff in the checking area has no patient doesn’t wanna hear what you have to say. Nothing completely unaware of customer service.

Hotel staff are just just amazing. We come back everytime. May not have lifts but you get what you pay for. Amzing staff make the experience every time. Amnia and Steph are just the most amazing women. The rest of the staff are just as lovely. Highly recommend if your looking for that home from home feel. I have stayed here on my own and felt so safe so if your a solo traveler and are looking for a safe place then this is your safe place for sure. As a couple my husbad and myself love the convience of the location. Good food and places to shop within seconds of leaving the hotel. Musems are soo close aswell. So what ever your trip this hotel really does give you what you need. Amazing views of the city from every room we have stayed in. I just do not recomend if you cant walk up stairs. I stuggle with them but its well worth the effort.

Clean room and bathroom but the room is very very small if you got many luggage it's a struggle to put it somewhere and be able to move. To get to the front desk from the street you have to climb 2 level stairs very narrow and steep. If you got too many or heavy luggage it's a challenge and more stairs after the front desk to get to your floor. No elevator

Simple but cozy

It's centrally located and close to everything, just what we wanted. The only downside is that it doesn't have an elevator, and the stairs, with their shabby carpets, are discouraging at first glance. The room was very simple and small, but cozy.

What a dump. The man at reception as soon as he saw my passport, asked me if I voted for Trump. The room smelled. The bathroom smelled even worse. And we were covered with mosquito bites the next morning. Or those may have been bedbugs.

We spent three nights in a twin room. The room was dated and needed redecorating. The bathroom was clean but smelt of sewage, probably owing to the age of the property. The window would only stay open by being propped up by a wooden block (which fell out a couple of times - luckily no one was passing below at the time but it was quite dangerous) We were there in the height of summer and our room was extremely hot. We couldn’t leave the window open at night because of the mosquitoes so it was quite uncomfortable. We only needed the room to sleep in so we managed to stick it out but I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to spend time in the hotel.
The stairs didn’t bother us, although they were very narrow and steep.
On the plus side the location was very central and you could walk everywhere from the hotel.

do not stay here. The staff checked us into our room and we noticed that the smoke alarm has already been tampered with, there was a sock hanging from it, covering it. Stupidly, we did not notify them because we were confused, furthermore, the housekeeping came in and out of the room for cleaning six days in a row and failed to do anything about it, they had to have seen it and simply left it there, so we assumed it was on purpose at that point. On the 6th day, we come back to the room and are locked out, so we approach the front desk and they informed us that we need to pay €150 for “tampering” with the smoke alarm. We even paid extra for a room with a balcony, why would we then tamper with the smoke detector? The staff was completely unfriendly and everyone said there was nothing they could do, no communication between any of the staff and none are on the same page about anything. We contacted hotels.com, who talked to the staff, and apparently Stephanie lied and told them that it’s part of their “daily duties” to check things like that, if that is true then why did it take them six days to notice something like that? And why did they check us into the room in the first place with it already having been tampered with? They also failed many of the other “daily duties”, leaving garbage in the room that we set out to be cleaned, forgetting towels, and honestly seemed to do very minimal cleaning if any at all. This was, without a doubt, the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. First of all, the stairs just to get into the building are ridiculously steep and dangerous—especially with luggage. Once inside, things only got worse. The man at reception was extremely weird and even knocked on our door late at night for no reason. It felt creepy and totally unprofessional.

The room was absolutely filthy. There were holes in the walls, the shower was disgusting, and the whole place felt like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Even worse, the room was infested with bugs—not just mosquitoes, but black beetles crawling everywhere. On top of all that, there was no air conditioning, and the windows didn’t even open, making the room hot, humid, and unbearable.

And here’s the real kicker: it wasn’t even cheap. We paid around €200 per night, which is insane for the condition this place is in. The photos online are a complete scam—they look nothing like the reality. This place should not be allowed to operate.

We left a day early because we couldn’t stand it any longer. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place.

We come back time and time again purely for the wlocome we recieve from all the staff. We will be back in september with our children for a family holiday. Its a home from home. Safe, welcoming, amazing staff. Especially stephanie and arminia. I would highly recommend this hotel. Even for solo women travellers. I have stayed on my own and felt as safe as i did at home. If you need local knowlwdge the staff are always happy to point you in the right direction. Ok the staira are a mission, but also a reminder of the history preseved within the old building. We will be back and look forward to seeing the amaizing staff.

Wasnt told that there was/is road construction right outside, very loud and started by 7am, looks as if they been there for months and will be much longer. Shower water goes every wheres leaving it a slipping hazard.
