The location was the best thing about this hotel, within walking distance to everything. The room itself was nothing like the photos we had seen online, it was very very small with only a slim walkway around the bed. No storage and nowhere to hang clothes which meant living out of our suitcases for 3 days. Can hear everything in the hallways and rooms next door through the walls and the windows were very old so also let a lot of noise through. Overall I wouldn’t return to this hotel.

The shower flooded the bathroom. The linen had other peoples hair in it. There was someone else’s dirty sock in the corner. Our money was not refunded after we refused to stay. I have not heard back from anyone after emailing my complaint with pictures of the conditions.

We liked the receptionist as she was very nice and helpful. The hotel’s location was pretty convenient to transportation. The room was quite small and cramped. There were two fans, but air conditioning would have been better, of course. Not having an elevator was the biggest issue, especially since the stairs are very narrow and not easy to climb, especially when trying to carry luggage up and down. The hotel needs to clearly convey that the hotel closes for check-in at 11:00P, not 12M as indicated on the confirmation email.

The room was nothing like the pictures or description. The luxury bed linens consisted of a 3 inch thick mattress topper on top of a stained mattress with scratchy sheets. The shower had mold around the bottom and there was no rain shower head as it said there was in the description. The AC that was supposed to be in the room was a portable fan. The good things, it was a place to sleep for 1 night.

We absolutely loved staying at Hotel Pagi. It's in the best location. 10min walk from Central Train station. The Metro is across the road. Eateries, activities, canals all around. The staff are lovely and helpful. The beds comfy. Great shower. Would defintiely stay here again.

The room stung a sewage. I requested to be sent to another room and I was told to let the water run 10 min bc it is an old building. I would not recommended this place. I had a hard time sleeping with that smell.

The location is excellent! There was an odd smell in the room. The hotel would benefit from a dehumidifier. There is too much moisture in the building. The fan helps to muffle the noise outside.

The hotel is NOTHING like the pictures they show on the website. It also smells really bad. Like sewer! The window would not stay open and had a dove bottle holding it open. I would not stay there again. The two ladies that work there are amazing though. Not their fault the hotel is in such bad condition. No elevator and the stairs are super steep.

When we got there we realized the lobby was on the second floor with tight stairs and as my mother cannot walk up too many stairs this would have been good to know beforehand as well as the rooms seemed bigger on the pictures. And on our first night she got bitten by an animal that looked a lot alike a bedbug which we took a picture of it and mentioned it to the staff which he was helpful to take care of it and advise on possible ticks carrying lime disease

Very small room. Much smaller than appears. About 3ftx1ft floor space. No wardrobes or places to put your luggage so I found that difficult.
Window view is a concrete wall.

Price is due to location. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

Fresh towels everyday, I initially thought they change the bed sheets but I think they just re make them.

A good little hotel for couple days. But the size and darkness of room might of become uncomfortable for any longer

Hotel Pagi was truly everything I had imagined. Yes my overall rating was 3/5 stars, however, for the price and marketing of Hotel Pagi, it was more or less what I was expecting.

Prime location in the centre of Amsterdam, I stayed for 6 nights and did not use a single method of transportation. Everything was within walking distance and it allowed me to truly experience Amsterdam and what the city had to offer.

One of the highlights of my trip was thanks to Mr. Johnny. A bright young local man, who is well articulated and was able to provide me with any information I wanted regarding the city. It is staff like Johnny that really allow guests to feel welcomed, cherished and special.

Personally, I was a bit displeased with the condition of the property and cleanliness. I am not a fan of insects, the room had a bunch of little spiders which I knew was harmless, but still made me very uncomfortable (as they were right next to our pillows and bed stands). The bathroom also had a horrible smell. There was no Air Conditioner in our room so we had to leave all windows open at night to stay cool, again this made me very uncomfortable because I was terrified of insects, birds or rats sneaking into the room and this also caused little insects to enter our room at night that bit us (most likely mosquitoes).

Overall, Hotel Pagi was the ideal booking for me and my party. I recommend anyone who is traveling on a budget, and desires to experience all Amsterdam has to offer. Thank you!

Not worth the hassle

Well...we had to climb two flights of stairs with heavy checked baggage - there was no mention of the lack of an elevator.

We were greeted by a friendly front desk attendant, but when we needed help from the front desk (2x) there was no one there. NOTE: every time we did meet someone that worked there, they were very friendly and kind.

The room was very small for two people abs two pieces of luggage. The bathroom was tiny. Hard to sit on the toilet, as the wall hits your knees when you do sit down.

The view was into an alley where drunken tourists were loud throughout the night as late at 430am. Our light fixture on the ceiling would move when people above us were loud and stomping.

Front desk attendants entered our room even after we said we did not want any entry.

Convenient location tho. And very affordable for Amsterdam, But not worth the hassle.

Thin walls. My window looked out a roof. Tea/coffee available in reception but I couldn’t find milk.

Absolute nightmare. DO NOT STAY HERE!
I don't even know where to begin. Upon arrival you have to ring a door bell which didn't work. Luckily somebody just left the hotel and opened the door for us. Then your looking at this massive steep staircase and you have to haul your suitcases up. The front desk is barely a front desk. When we got the key to our room I was about to leave the entire property. We could barely fit our two suitcases inside the room. There is no closet or anything at all to put your clothes. You have to leave it in your suitcase. We had to move our bed in order to get into the bed with the suitcases in the room. We were here in April and it was very cold the first night. The heater was not working and the front desk guy had plug in heaters. I had to sleep with my sweat suit on to keep warm. Later on at night we wanted to watch tv just to find out that there was no remote. I then went to get one from the front desk for their tv. Well, an hour into watching tv the power went off for a few hours. Next morning,, went to take a shower. The bathroom was so small you can barely turn around in it. We're not even close to being heavy people at all and we couldn't turn around. The thing the kicked me finally off the edge was the shower. Absolutely no water pressure at all. I struggled so much taking a shower. This is NOT a hotel. Maybe a hostel. The noise from the other guests when they come and go slamming doors in the middle of the night woke me up every night.

So conveniently placed right opposite the metro and from the offset the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our twin room was bright clean and and had a huge shower. Just minute's walks away from many attractions and plenty of restaurants. Highly recommended hotel but its not for the weak kneed as a lot of stairs to climb but other than that a lovely stay.

I was extremely happy with my stay at Hotel Pagi. Its a straight line walk from the station, close to the centre of town and a short walk from anywhere you'll want to go.

The staff are wonderful! They'll help you with any questions you have and do anything to help make your stay easy and memorable.

The rooms are well kept and clean with good service, the only issue some may face is the stairs up to the rooms, not a problem for the young and spritely.

Overall, a great value for money, will definitely be returning.

We had a great stay at this hotel and found it to be excellent value for money. The location is super central, making it easy to walk everywhere, which was a huge plus. The hotel was clean and well-maintained overall. Both the room and bathroom were small, but for a short trip, that wasn’t an issue - especially since we spent most of our time exploring the city. There was a slight stuffy smell in the room and bathroom. I’d rate cleanliness around 4/5, which is reasonable for the price. We visited in winter and the heating worked perfectly, keeping the room warm and comfortable. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and even when they weren’t around at night, getting into the building was very simple. Also free tea and coffee machine! Overall, I’d stay here again for a short visit to Amsterdam. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it’s perfect if you’re looking for a clean, affordable, and well-located place to stay while making the most of the city!

Great hotel in the centre. It’s small but it works as we never there only to sleep. Great location to walk everywhere you need to go.
Only issue was it’s only stairs and we brought a big suitcase between 3 of us but that was our fault for being girls 😅

Cool spot, literally right across the street from Rokin metro station, which is a stop or two from Amsterdam Central, so the airport is only twenty minutes away. Walk a few minutes south, and you'll find the Rijksmuseum, Van Gohg, Stedelijik, and Maco Museums. A few minutes north west Anne Frank's house, and north east the Red Light district. The room itself has a hipster, studio apartment vibe, with a killer view that looks out onto a bustling Rokin ( street, avenue, blvd ) with a canal view to the south. The photos on their site are accurate. Insane deal for this spot at the moment ( September 2024 ), don't sleep.

This should not be advertised as a hotel. Upon arrival no asssitance offered with luggage no elevator had to take stairs steep stairs. We had to call expedia so they request them to assist us with luggage. Rooms are terrible. We don’t recommend this stay.

A little hidden gem

The hotel has an amazing location right in the heart of the centre, with transport links very close-by and everything within walking distance.
The room was basic but great value for money. Room temperature was fine, as air conditioning was provided. The rooms were cleaned daily to a very high standard.
The bathroom was small but very user friendly and functional.
The staff were very helpful and approachable.
I have nothing bad to say about my stay. However, some may find the area loud or busy which they should be aware of before booking.

The prime location is a major highlight, with a food street, metro, tram, and shops all within 100 meters. Many rooms offer scenic canal views, and the staff is exceptionally welcoming. The coffee machine also delivers outstanding coffee.

We were two adults with four bags, and found the room a bit cramped. Typical of Amsterdam architecture, the building has no elevator and features steep stairs. It was good enough for the price paid.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my stay. I would love to state here again.

Extremely rude front of house, 5 people asked for extra key wanted €10 non refundable deposit. Stayed her in summer 2023 nice staff and clean but this stay opposite. There was tissue and ear buds on the floor, dirty pillow cases. Overall dirty. The following day room was cleaned still remained the tissue. Front of house have to be the rudest people every and I think they are the owners. Wife and husband and daughter. Stay away dirty and extremely rude!!!!

The property is not like the pictures and unfortunately need a lot of updating and cleaning. The rooms are significantly smaller than advertised, very thin walls between corridors and rooms and hence extremely loud at all times.
You can hear conversations between rooms at normal talking volume.
The windows when closed also do not shield any noise from outside and hence was extremely loud at all times due to the busy locations of the hotel.
The common areas need a thorough clean and alongside this the rooms an update and refresh (including painting the walls as they were covered in marks, scuffs, splashes.. etc.)

Allow me to say that they have an extremely friendly staff. They were super nice and engaging. Now on tonwhy I rated the hotel a 2. I could live with the suicide stairs that are unbelievably steep and narrow. In some places they may require you to wear a harness to go up or down those stairs. I could live with the fact that the TV was not working or the lack of an AC (there is a heater so that was a plus). However, what I can't live with and why I rated them a 2, is the utter filth that all three of our rooms were covered in. The linen on the beds were not clean, were covered in God knows who's hair, the floors were not swept and we're really dirty, and the bathrooms were not very clean. Cleanliness is the most important thing. As stated, I could deal with the stairs, and other items, but clean the rooms and provide clean linens and towels. While I absolutely loved this area of Amsterdam and will certainly stay in this area again, you could not pay me to stay at Hotel Pagi.

Staff were friendly but room was awful. Apparently there had been an overbooking (which was quite a stressful call to receive) so i think/hope this room is not often used as the bed was incredibly uncomfortable, window opened onto a wall, 1 very lumpy pillow each, no headboard and no space at all, the floor is also so sloped that is nauseating. The hallway area was very run down and unclean . would not recommend

This hotel was horrible. I wouldn’t even call it a “hotel”. How it is advertised is not what you get. The room was incredibly tiny, it barely fit two single beds (which we did not have booked). The reception attendants were not friendly and unhelpful. The entire property was dirty including the outside, stairs leading up to the main area, the room and bathroom. The shower had mole, the walls of the bedroom were damaged, discoloured, and dirty. I would NOT recommend staying here.

Our stay was pleasant. Front desk was very hospitable and let us keep our bags there after check out in between hotels. Would say the downside was the noise , no ac and very small for the price. Smell in the room when we first got there was very strong. Great location so made it worth it!

Disgraceful , disgusting room .

Absolutely disgraceful, disgusting place .
Didn’t really want to leave a bad review but we couldn’t take a rest only one night in this Moldy room thanks god …

moldy toliet tissue , wall , toliet , in the Conner of ceiling , under the wall light . Smell was just making me sick absolutely . It’s was just one night to stay here .. as we always stay in other our favourite hotel where didn’t have a free room for us on the day so we didn’t have a choice to say here , next day moved back to our favourite hotel . Thanks god 🙏
Not even worth spend €20 for this hotel room . Heard someone is peeing from other rooms , walking etc … still my body is twitching and goosebumps are all over if I remember of that experience ..

Excellent stay. Staff very friendly and overall very happy with the price paid for the stay. I can appreciate that some people may prefer to pay a lot more money for additional comforts but for the money this hotel did exactly what I wanted and for the price I wanted to pay. Would definitely use again.

It was the worst experience. It was so inconvenient and noisy. The room was so dark. The mattress was not a proper one. The coffee machine was off from 5:00 pm to 8:00 am. There was some insects in the room

Nice basic accommodation which is close to lots of the attractions. The room is small but for a few nights easy to live in. The bed was comfy and the free coffee at reception was great. As in another review the stairs were steep and if you had lots of bags it would be an issue but for a short break with little luggage it was great. I would happily stay here again.

Beds were awesome, however 3 twins in one room was too cramped. Lots of stairs. Reception was pleasant and very helpful. Hotel was a perfect location for a canal boat cruise (right across the street) and visiting the famous Flower Market just down the road.

Whilst overall the stay at Hotel Pagi wasn’t bad on the 2nd night the keycard to my room didn’t want to open the door to our room. My friend and I tried ringing the out of hours number, we tried the door several times, it still didn’t open. We ended up spending the night in the stairwell using pillows from reception. Staff were mortified and very apologetic and all went above and beyond to try and sort a refund for that night. Almost 3 months later I still haven’t received it and I sent a follow up email. The overall stay wasn’t bad at all but when I combine it with the experience we had on the second night and the promise of a refund that hasn’t been recieved I have to give it 2**

Well positioned property, staff were great. Things that weren’t so great were the room was very small, the bathroom door was coming off the hinges and wouldn’t close properly, the building across from us was very noisy singing music the entire Wednesday night we were there.
