Room was tired, stains, blind rusty and didn’t work, I chose a room with a window, but there was no view, a wall instead an couldn’t open the window even a tiny bit for fresh air, waste of money; fire alarm covered with plastic bag, receptionist had to connect the card machine to her personal phone to take payment; the adjoining restaurant is basic and they don’t even bring food to the table, but shout to you to come and get it; wooden throw away knives and forks, plastic cups; then present you with an A4 frame to review them!! Food cold. This is not 4 star!! More like 2 star at best

The room itself was fine but there was a humming noise and vibration every few minutes possibly the fans right outside. Someone spilt water over the carpet. We had wet feet as soon as we walked over the carpet.
The mirror in the bathroom is useless, you can hardly see yourself, also the mirror in the hallway is not good for doing makeup. The room smelled possibly because of the water in the carpet. The room had no fridge. All pretty basic but ok for 1 night.

The hotel and rooms were really small and they failed to tell us at check in that we had to insert the key card into the wall for electricity so due to us not being able to call down (there’s no phone in the room) to front desk for help we had to walk down there for every inconvenience and that electricity thing was the first of a few. The staff were really helpful throughout though so the stay wasn’t that bad.

The best thing about this hotel was the shower in our room. We were woken at 0630 on Sunday morning by the whole room shaking and the door rattling due to a washing machine on spin cycle on the floor above us (we were in a basement room). We reported to reception who really couldn't have cared less and blamed other guests (with a washing machine in their room???) At check-in we were asked if we wanted the breakfast in the adjoining cafe at a special offer price, which we bought, but the food was terrible, only the toast and baked beans were edible (the egg was so undercooked it was still raw in places) - don't waste your money, instead walk a few metres down the road to the Kish Persian restaurant who serve fantastic breakfasts and coffee.

No welcome, just handed room key. Aircon didnt work. Room was tiny and stuffy. Room overlooked mainnroad and was noisy. No cameras or security. SERIOUS Incident in the room next door caused police and ambulance to occupy hotel for long periods. Manager promised refund due to poor stay and traumatic scenario, but never got it.

Very nice little hotel in Kilburn!

Friendly, polite staff. Room was clean and had all you need for a short stay. I didn't use the restaurant as only there for the 1 night but it looked very good. Very close to the nearest station and within walking distance to 3 others too for getting around. Plenty of shops, bars and places to eat in the area. I used this for a trip to Wembley Stadium, and would do so again!

my friend and i stayed for 1 night. The twin room we were allocated was in the depths of the hotel. we used the stair case to reach the room, and we noticed a horrible smell all the way from the top of the stair case to the door of our room. it smelt like old dirty mop.
The room was ok, albeit dark, as it had no windows. It felt quite claustrophobic. The tap in the bathroom sink was leaking so much, the floor was very wet in the morning. I told the desk staff on our departure of this.
Based on our experience, we would not stay here again.

The hotel was disgusting -the rooms were disgusting; the stench was overwhelming in the halls and the room. The hotel is unlivable. We had two separate beat-up rooms, and the second room they had forgot to clean when we arrived, and the bed was not made and there was garbage in it upon arrival. We left after an hour and lost our 2 nights' stay payment but we simply could not stay. It felt like a low rate stay in Somalia

Good selection of tea and coffee in the room, didn’t try the street food in the restaurant downstairs but will do when I’m back next time.

Only stayed for the night which I was glad about as the cleanliness of the room was not great. There were no hand towels in the bathroom and everything had limescale on it.
The bathroom door also wouldn’t open or close unless you used all your strength as it kept catching on the carpet.
Lack of extra pillows. Only given things for as if 1 person was staying.
The shower backed up and the shower door had a massive gap in it so there was water all over even after a quick shower.

There was also a really bad smell in the corridors and lift.

The room was really small for the price.

The staff were lovely though so I think the issues are more likely due to the age and upkeep of the hotel.

Average hotel experience for the price

Pretty average as far as hotels go and about what should be expected for a hotel of a lower price point. However the room smelled faintly of cigarette smoke though in fairness we did not inform the hotel staff of this as we assumed it was likely a hotel wide issue. Small details of cleaning could be improved like showerheads having faint black mold and the toilet flush being very weak pressured. Pressure in the shower for water was really good and the air conditioning was also quite a nice feature on the other hand.

I would say it's definitely not a 4 star hotel in terms of quality and there are probably better options for this price point, if you're not too fussy it's fine as a stay but I would recommend Travelodge over this imo.

Thoroughly disappointed in this hotel. We booked 3 rooms for 5 guests for 4 nights.
Upon check in - 1 room needed to be switched because of a horrible sewage smell coming from the bathroom. Only 1 out of 3 rooms had a safe. We were informed the gym, in fact, cost £4.99 and was not included.
All 3 rooms were in terrible condition. 1 room had a duct tape toilet seat, all 3 rooms had damaged baseboards, and cracked ceilings. The condition of our rooms felt like the bare minimum had been maintained. Paint splatters on the bathroom doors and furniture, etc
As for the overall cleanliness… the rooms were not dusted, our bedroom had a massive stain on the bedding just below the flat sheet they laid down (we didn’t find this until the last night). We needed a top up of TP and were informed the hotel only had 1 roll left. One room had a man’s boxers, and women’s shirt left in the closet (assuming from the guests before).
The neighbourhood is classified as a middle class neighbourhood, but would not recommend walking alone at night.

I will say the one benefit was being close to the tube, and able to get to all the places we wanted to see, and staff were decent upon check in and out. We did not comment on our displeasure as there was nothing to be done at the time of stay. We recommend the hotel do a thorough maintenance/ inventory of hygiene and amenities.

Worst hotel ever stayed in !

From start to finish this hotel considered to be one of the worst I have ever experienced in my life! Had to change the room thrice to get a suitable room adding another £100.00 to my original payment ! The toilet did not have any toilet paper hanger , not cleaned daily nor the bin was usable without using hand! Dusty rooms with one window cannot be closed - thus is the 3rd room we were moved in! The carpet if the room was only cleaned before the day we checked out ! The comod was not cleaned daily either ! No face or medium sized towels were available ! The safety locker remained open and cannot be used! The cupboard for clothes are only suitable for 7 feet taller persons! Foods are also of unhealthy. Only good thing is that it is bears to an underground station !

This was taken as a cheaper option for a weekend visit to London. It is well outside the attractions, but very well connected by public transport. Around the hotel wasn’t a great area. The condition of the hotel was so so. It was more like a b and b in condition with some parts nice like the bathroom, but then the room was very dated and a bad shape. Staff were ok, but when the turned over the room they didn’t leave any towels so I had to ask a few times for some. For £80+ a night it wasn’t great value.

The hotel was adequate for my nights stay and close to the local train station and many pubs and shops. Lovely thriving area full of culture. My only gripe with the hotel was the fact that they wouldn't let us check-in early even though the online service let us do so and if we were to check-in at the reception it was a £30 charge. When I asked if I could use the toilet in reception it was round a corner in a very dark corridor which I had to use my phones torch to use the door code and on opening the door the bathroom was flooded with now toilet roll or hand wash. When check-in finally arrived so did many other people and there wasn't enough staff to cope. Some people complained that their room wasn't cleaned.

Stayed at this hotel 26th-27th of July. Check I. Went smooth. We were placed in room 116 on the first floor. Staff at check in had told us that the lift was broken and we would have to use the stairs. Had to carry luggage upstairs by ourselves. No help offered from staff. On Sunday 27th July at approx 5.30am we informed hotel staff that we are going to check out late and that there is an awful noise by the window. It was a pair of huge fans and they were as loud as a tractor. We asked a member of staff to come to our room and investigate. They came to the room and told us there was nothing that can be done regarding the noise coming from the “air con “ look-alike fans. Secondly, whilst informing the member of staff at reception regarding checking our late we had asked him to note down late check out for us and asked to confirm the check out fee as per Expedias information. I enquired whether the fee was £20.00 and check out was at 2PM to which I had a confirmation nod. At 12.45am on Sunday 27th one of the front of the house staff knocked on our hotel door to kick us out of the room. She’d then informed myself and my mate that the price of check out is £15 per hour after 11am and check out is1PM latest. I then proceeded to explain that we read on Expedia that late check out fees are stated as £20 and that her colleague had informed that late check out was 2PM. She then asked us to free up the room and head to reception. We packed our bags within 10 minutes and left the room.

On arrival there was only 1 lady at the small reception in a small area so you could clearly hear details concerning other people staying at the hotel or wanting to check in.

The keys were not working for the rooms, so after waiting about 30 minutes to check in, a master key had to be used to let us into our room. There was no light in the room and very small bathroom and toilet.

It seemed the materials for the room was the cheapest possible. We had the impression that they made the quality of the room as cheap as possible to make as much money as possible.

Yes there was an apology when we finally checked and were taken to our rooms.

I had to remind the staff that we do not have electricity in the room and this needs to be sorted.

Upon leaving the next morning, the same lady on arrival the day before asked us about our stay. We said we were not happy especially starting with the check in process. Her best response was but we fixed it, rather than apologise and then explain that it was fixed. No explanation as to why the problems occurred.

I rarely complain but I had bed bugs in my bed. I woke up very itchy and saw the bedsheets had those black dots that indicate bed bugs.

The room temperature was difficult to control and I couldn’t close the window that was open and the AC didn’t therefore help.

The bathroom sliding door was very stiff and therefore couldn’t be closed properly.

The staff were lovely but the cleanliness of the room was awful because of the bed bugs! I was so uncomfortable during the night because of the itching!

I had such high hopes for this hotel and I’m really disappointed.

There was a problem with cold water supply in my room, I was unable to shower or wash as the water was scalding. There was no cold water to shower or wash basin I reported it at reception on 2/4 at reception, I was told they would get someone to sort it while I was at work, when I got back in evening, nothing had been done. None of the staff I spoke to knew anything about it as it appears my complaint wasn’t passed on.

Never ever come to this hotel!

The Customer Service was terrible and left me traumatised. I booked for two nights and received my key card on first night so clearly checked in before midnight. In second night they booked out my room and another guest entered my room whilst zI was semi naked it was traumatising for me. A receptionist came banging on my door to get out the room even though I explained I was booked for two nights and was threatened that they will call the police if I didn't show my ID. I showed my ID and nobody got back to me about the admin error. I had to call reception who explained my booking was accidently deleted and they rebooked my room and they apologised they double booked my room. I had no apology from the receptionist how she banged on my door with a thteatening attitude. I couldn't sleep that night and checked out early as possible. I want a full refund for how I was left terrified and traumatised that someone would enter my room again.I will never come back to this hotel again or recommend it. In all the last 3 decades I have used hotels, I never been treated like this so poorly ever.

Very nice hotel for the price. Very convenient for Wembley as on both overground and Bakerloo lines. Also a short bus journey from Camden Market. The room was air conditioned which is something I wish more hotels did in this country. Staff were friendly. Room was spotless except the air vent could do with a dusting. Some of the fixtures were perhaps a little worn but nothing excessive.

Overall area of the hotel was great, lots of food places and shops nearby. Also right next to the overground atation which was very handy. Room was nice enough but the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor. This caused me to slip and injure my ankle as I didnt know it was leaking water until after my shower. I went down to the front desk to ask for help to be given ice in a pillowcase and to be told there wasnt a single first aid kit in the entire hotel! We were given an apology and told we could switch rooms, however that never happened! Very poor customer service. There were also extra charges to my bank account without my knowledge. When I called about this, I was told to contact expedia and basically shrugged off on the phone. Would stay in the same area but definitely not in this hotel again!

Awful. My room smelled like mildew. The bed was like a rock. The room looked old and beat up. The cost was too high for such an awful place. My daughter and niece were another room. The AC and towel warmer were also not working. Their room also smelled of mildew. Light over the mirror was broken. Carpet was stained. Time for an overhaul and a major renovation.

Faulty lights dirty and problems with door keys - I registered a complaint and there has been no response. In addition I called your company for sending me check in info 24 hours after I booked and while I was in transit suggesting that I needed photo id to access the room - if there are specific requirements, you acknowledge these at the point of booking. I was promised a call back from hotels.com - this has not happened either.

The hotel is in dying need of an uplift. The bathrooms were rusty, not clean, the curtains held by small threads, old furniture, bad smell in the corridors and the room, the first day my door would not close, also could not use the safe as it was not working, the manager had to take it into his office to keep my valuables while I was out. Nothing happened but I didn’t feel safe at night in the area.

I'm disgusted with the room we stayed in at your hotel. On arrival the toilet would not flush, the drawers were damaged. We couldn't get the air con to work but the receptionist sorted this for us. We had only bath towels and the cleaners had no hand towels either. The kettle was broken and dangerously so. Our first nights sleep was horrendous the pillows were like blocks of wood and is was so hot in the room. I complained to reception the following morning and they said they would give us a different room but we had a concert in Hyde park and would not return until very late. Whilst I was in reception someone had already checked out for to the heat in the room and another lady was complaining. This was my daughter's first visit to London and was so excited to be actually staying in a\"proper\" hotel. She will remember it, that's for sure but for all the wrong reasons. Disgusting service and 4* you have to be kidding, never again.

Reception was having a referb, so there was building work going on, the rooms arse also in need of a major referb, carpet is ripped and torn in multiple places. Tiny TV that is hard to hear as its boxed in, also says they have a gym, but that's a gym next to door that you needs to pay for.

Truly the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. Windows sealed shut and no air conditioning in the room. A small fan had been brought into the room, however, this only blew out warm air and made the heat in our room even more unbearable. I have attempted to contact the hotel multiple times for a refund and have received nothing back.

When I selected the room I was aware that the room had no windows. In this room you felT cramped. Spider webs in the closet. The bathroom was \"clean\" but the mildew was ridiculous. I took pictures. The bedding was clean. When I was given the room key she said to me, take elevator to the first floor then go through the corridors. Well, it was corridor after corridor, up two steps a couple of more corridors down around 12 steps down the hall to the box they call a room... one more day and I would go bonkers. Horrible experience.

Arrived to boiling hot room even though reception been to check all in order, asked reception to sort air conditioning as hottest day of year and no openable windows. Assured be ok on my return as was going out for food. On my return was worse! Again got reception up to be told was not working, room was like a sauna. Issued with a pathetic fan that was no help whatsoever. The attitude of reception was a problem, repeating himself saying no other rooms and I wasn't the only one this affected. After zero sleep asked as I left for management to contact me but did not happen. At 11am I rang hotel to be told that If I returned they would exchange rooms so they could clean the sauna to sell to some other poor soul. No apologies, nothing. Parkings a nightmare, areas rough as anything. Avoid at all costs. Did get manager email and sent complaint but heard nothing

The hotel room was tired and in desperate need of a paint job. The bathroom was ok but the shower seal on the screen didn't work so the water from the shower flooded the bathroom floor. The bed was comfy , the room itself would have benefited from having a window that did not require a wedge to allow fresh air in . The do not disturb function on the door is an interesting concept, you can only use this if you are ok with a bright red light shining across the room whilst you try to sleep.
The housekeeping service team were phenomenal, I returned from my day out to find my room immaculate, including fresh towels. I very much appreciated their care.

Maitrise is a reasonably priced hotel in a decent location. Good transport amenities into Central London. Lotsa restaurants nearby. Areas of improvement could be overall cleanliness of premises and common areas. Staff are courteous and helpful.

Liked the shower facilities, space and cleanliness very good in hotel room. Good hot drink facilities and restocked well on our second day. A little wait to get the hotel locker unlocked, but once sorted it was easy to use.

Didn't like: WIFI licence out of date (Not secure, so I just used my phone data instead. TV signal poor, only the BBC news channel had good signal. Bath high and can be slippy when wet trying to step out (could do with a bath mat and/or a fitted handle at edge of bath). Hotel room 001 was next to the elevator and you could also hear people opening and closing door nearby. Also the water boiler kept making washing machine type noises for 10 minutes at a time.

Stuffy, in need of an overhaul.

The first room we were given had a terrible smell of damp as soon as we entered the room. On inspection, there was extensive obvious mould all around the bedframe, inside the wardrobe and in the bathroom. How it passed a cleanliness inspection I'll never know. Lady on reception took us to another room- the only other one that was available and there was an obvious drain smell but at least no mould.
Turns out one side of this rooms electrics did not work so TV and bathroom light did not work. No opening windows and no working Aircon. So very stuffy.
The two positives were that the bed was comfortable and the shower( in the dark) had good pressure.
The place needs a thorough inspection and upgrade as the location is ideal.

On arrival the receptionist asked for my name gave me the form without any facial communication kept on talking to a friend ignoring my presence. Gave me the card, had to find my way to the lift. The room was very smelly, stuffy, air conditioning fairly working. Shower water was luke warm. Terrible booking ever. For good reputation for Hotels.com you better take off the hotel from your lists. Am a regular client for Hotels.com this is none closer to the good standard I have been. Greatly disappointed. The room floor was so uneven, carpet dirty.

The restaurant is no longer (was it ever?) part of the hotel. The room with a window is down steps past laundry and looks out at a brick wall. The flat screen TV was attached in a fairly rudimentary way to the wall. There was no tea in the room - just coffee.
The bed was fine.
