Overall not a great experience and I will definitely not return to this property. The staff are somewhat rude and condescending and pretty short and blunt. This is not a luxury hotel and I wasn’t expecting anything much but this definitely didn’t live up to low expectations. The property is dated and you can tell as the pictures online are misleading.

There is an old antique elevator that leads you to your room which is kind of quaint and nice. However, it goes downhill from there. The lockers in the room need a key which you have to get from the reception and no one will bring it up to you in case you want to use the locker. You have to carry all your luggage as there is no one to even help with the door. We had a lot of bags and it was impossible to do it all but they watched us struggle but didn’t bother to help. We asked for a late checkout and instead of saying anything nice to decline, all that the receptionist said was “No, impossible. No no no…”and then abruptly hung up. When they do your room, they do not replenish with water either.

Not going to be coming back or recommending people.

Room wasn’t as big as posted on their site. Very small room with barely room on either side of bed with 4 luggage bags, but bathroom was sufficient big. Floor was scuffed up but clean. I was only there for 2 days.

Clean, spacious room, including a spacious bathroom. In the bathroom: slow drainage, whistling pipes, stained towels, worn & weathered tub; but lots of natural light, plenty space, great smell upon entering (maybe from the garden below). In the room: large Samsung television, plenty of lighting options, king-size bed (2 doubles), clean linen, and entertaining sounds of the street below, including live music past midnight; but creaking floorboard and a floor somewhat sunken toward the center. In the hallway: banging from maintenance in adjacent rooms, though no notice upon check-in. Of the staff: most were available to help though no eager.

This was an historic hotel. They have an elevator, but we had to walk a long way on our floor to get to our rooms.
The rooms were spacious. The beds were hard.
The bathroom was luxurious.
You can tell it’s a very old building. A lot of old furniture decorated the hallways. It was very nice, and was probably very elegant in its day.

The shower was not easy to use and glass wall was insufficiently designed to stop water splashing on floor. Toillette was leaky and old in design needed upgrading.

It is an older hotel but has been wonderfully maintained. It is in walking distance to everything. Breakfast was delicious. The only issue was the walls in the room are paper thin, and you could hear everything above you and next to you. It was difficult to sleep some nights.

This is definitely a grande dame property, and the Aura was one of famous days gone by.
My room was spacious with a super modern bathroom. The staff was very helpful with our luggage and some other questions we had.
Dinner in the hotel was lovely with the view of the grassy courtyard. It was exciting to stay in a place with such musical history.

Beautiful antique hotel in great location. We ate breakfast every morning and the fruit was sweet and ripe. Staff very helpful with directions or getting a cab. Laundry was not self service and location was off site. Worked out well though because Laundry lady was a professional at her job. Shopping and restaurants all good and convenient

The hotel and room were dated and in poor shape. The shower head and toilet flush wouldn’t work. The drawers (to place your clothes) were stained and dirty. The breakfast was inedible. Only the location is good; otherwise, the hotel is very bad.

The room itself was clean, the bathroom was large and clean as well. But the door and the corridor walls were dirty and created a poor impression overall.

The water pressure in the bathroom is low, and the toilet doesn’t flush very well.

Maintenance is poor overall. If you pull the knob of the closet door it will come off in your hands.

Noise is a problem as well. Because the hotel is next to a busy street you hear the sirens of emergency vehicles every 20 minutes.

The thermostat worked well, unlike some other hotels we stayed in, the room does get cold if we turn the thermostat down.

The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is good.

Definitely not worth the price given the poor maintenance.

Asked for a quiet room which they said they gave us. Room was in a corner with some kind of bar on the street below that blasted music until 11-12 pm. Was excruciating. The pillows are thin and rock hard. You hear every footstep of the floor creaking above you. And to top it off had a HUGE cockroach in our room.

This was a good find. It was about a 10 minute walk from the main train terminal as well as close to the subway. Certainly walkable to all major sites. The Vatican is a little too far but the subway takes you within walking distance. Breakfast included which was a bonus and also a variety of food choices. We would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is 150 years old and you can see the splendor it must have had way back in the marble stairs, columns and some hotel paintings on each floor. The location is excellent and the breakfast outstanding.

This hotel is in a great location. Easy walk to/from Termini station. You can also walk to the Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps etc. Lots of restaurants close by and authentic gelato nearby too.
Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of food which we appreciated.
Rooms were clean and staff was friendly.
We have stayed here twice and would stay again.

The location is a big advantage—everything was easy to reach, which made exploring Rome very convenient.

Breakfast was also a highlight, with plenty of choices to start the day.

The hotel has a classic, old-world charm, but overall it feels a bit tired. The corridor carpets, for example, gave off a slightly dirty feel. I understand preserving the style, but refreshing or deep-cleaning certain areas would make it feel much cleaner without losing its character.

Overall, the stay was enjoyable, mainly because of the location and breakfast, but some updates would really improve the experience.

How Expedia rated this hotel in the \"luxury\" category is beyond me. This is at best a 2-star hotel, as it was missing some very basic amenities, such as a coffee make and there was NO air conditioning service (not turned on until summer, I was told). All this besides the fact the hotel is very near a bad area (Termini terminal) and I was told by the staff to not go there when night falls. Expedia needs to do better.

Didn't use the A/C. Disappointed with the view so we were moved to a higher up room but the view wasn't much better. As a vegan, I pre warned the staff on reception but all I could have for breakfast every day was cereal and oat milk - not good value for money. The building is big and impressive but a little tired and dusty in some areas. The corridors outside the rooms could be quite noisy, with doors banging etc. Good location though and very friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend the hotel to others, but I probably wouldn't stay there again.

I stayed in room 406 for seven nights and overall had a mixed experience. The room—and especially the bathroom—was exceptionally clean, easily one of the cleanest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The breakfast was also quite good and very substantial, which was a nice way to start each day.

That said, there were a few drawbacks. The room temperature was consistently too warm, and it appeared that the heating and air conditioning were centrally controlled, as the in-room thermostat didn’t seem to have any effect. This made sleeping very uncomfortable. Opening the window helped with the temperature, but it introduced way too much street noise for sleeping, so we opted for the room being too warm.

While the breakfast quality was solid, the selection was exactly the same each day. After a week-long stay, a bit more variety would have been appreciated.

Lastly, the elevator doors close too quickly—almost immediately after selecting a floor—and do not reopen once they begin closing. This made entering the elevator somewhat challenging when multiple people were getting on. I got separated from my husband and I witnessed the same thing happen to other people when the elevator doors locked us out.

Extremely beautiful old world style hotel. I love this hotel! And the room that you see in the brochure… is the one you get to stay in! Lovely breakfast, large windows , comfortable beds, nice quality linens, huge and wonderful bathrooms. But best of all great security, wonderfully helpful staff, and an excellent location.

My only hotel for Rome!

The hotel is in great location. Even you you are tired if walking and still would like to sit at a pub and have a drink? There is a nice Irish pub next door too. Very close to the pantheon and trevi fountain. Pretty much chose to everything including the metro station is a block away.

Hotel was clean and nice. Walkable to many things to see and do. The room was good but just like all other reviews its a little loud since the building is from the 1800's the walls are paper thin. The AC didn't turn on but luckily it was nice and cool outside so we just open the windows but it was loud outside so little sleep. The breakfast was just okay. Staff very nice and helpful.

We enjoyed our one night stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and the bathroom luxurious. The rainfall shower head was a delight. Comfortable bed and pillows, too. The staff was accommodating and attentive. The breakfast was okay, would’ve preferred my coffee fresh not from a machine, but we had a beautiful view while we ate.

A nice hotel in a great location with friendly and helpful staff.
The room was a good size but the furniture was a little dated and our room had a couple of slightly wobbly tables, but nothing seriously wrong.
A huge fully fitted bathroom with walk in shower, basin, bidet, wc and heated towel rail. Emergency pull cord in the shower.
Attentive and very reactive staff. A minor water leak was attended and repaired within an hour and a request for more room coffee was delivered within minutes.
The bar area was small and did not appear well used.
A small gymnasium was available.
The lifts are accessed via a small flight of stairs, but there is a single person wheelchair lift and a porter if required.
Many nearby restaurants, shops and bars. Very short walk to the Repubblica Metro station and bus stops outside the hotel. Public transport is ridiculously cheap using tap-in.
Overall, I would definitely stay again.

Excellent location and the best breakfast! Staff is friendly, check in and out is very smooth, there is often live music, and they have a gym! Our only complaints were the street noise, which could have been rectified if we requested a different room I am certain, as well as the lumpiness of the mattresses. We would definitely stay here again as its close to Roma Termini, and a short walk to all of the top tourists must sees. We left Rome for a few days and when we came back we rebooked here and were upgraded to a bigger room. Thank you!

Very clean. The staff went above and beyond. They treated us like gold. Was nice how the staff always greeting with a smile and always there when you needed them. The food was exceptional. The location made it easy to get around. I walked to the colosium 2 times. I miss the breakfast with fresh juice and all the pastries.
