Went for our Babymoon. Stayed 4 nights. It was outstanding overall!

Pros: nice and accommodating staff, ambience was perfection, resort is breathtaking, our room was amazing-loved the deep soaking tubs in and outside the room, heated bathroom floors!!! Dual sided Fireplace we used everyday. Loved the outdoor community fire pits . The water stations and provided refillable water bottle were great-great tasting water and so wonderful to not have to pay for waters. Shuttles to take you around resort were quick. Loved all the wildlife on property. We took a cocktail /mocktail Class which was so fun! Downtown Carmel was only 15 -20 mins away which we ventured to almost daily with Lots of great shopping and restaurants. Few Wineries were only 10 mins away as well.

Cons: Main restaurant was pricey and not the best dinner food in my opinion. We ate dinner off site every evening for this reason, however their breakfast was very good. Our shower head in room had poor water pressure. Wish there were more FREE classes/activities.

Would stay here again and again! Kid and pet friendly.

Amazing experience over a long weekend. Lots of activities and things to do in and in and around the ranch. The rooms are great, actually more like an apartment with living room, terrace, and walk in closet.

And, it's the most dog friendly hotel we've ever stayed in! We could take our labradoodle even to the very nice Valley Kitchen restaurant.!

Staff friendly when you get them, but seems to be light on staff for shuttles, room service and general inquiries. Also do not stock mini fridge which seems odd now a a days. Landed and to get water sent to room would have taken 1hr 45mins. Online order/scheduling, no one would pick up phone… they also gave another family our room so had a little surprise when we were getting ready.. beautiful property but a lot of low hanging fruit to be a great one

The outdoors of this place is impeccable. But I wish the services and the rooms matched that. It took us more than an hour to get a crib since the first one didn’t work, and front desk staff constantly forget about things. Room conditions are ok but bed is far away from 4 star quality.

we loved that it was peaceful, has an adult pool, places to walk and get exercise beyond the golf course, plus many options for physical activities. We also visited the Coral which was in the most beautiful location, so cleanly and loved the variety of animals. Fun for any age.

The only thing that we could complain about was the softness of the mattress. It seemed to have two imprinted bodies, so probably needs replacing.

The property had so many things to do from going on trails, golf, animals, a spa, big pool with a nice jacuzzi, and wonderful staff. The unfortunate thing was you could hear a dog next door dragging a leash or rolling a ball while barking at times late at night. However, the hotel can’t fully control that. Jeff was wonderful at the front desk and all the staff were very friendly.

Nothing short of an abundance of relaxation, play, and beauty. This resort is such a gem. The staff was very accommodating and kind. A massage at the spa was an amazing experience. The pool area and hot tub was so relaxing after a cozy fire pit wind down. Cannot wait to return!

Good place especially for families with kids. However, the restaurant service is poor--slow, tables not ready for reservation time (even when few people, they had us wait in the lobby and then after leading us to the table they combined them in front of us while we waited in between diners/other tables). Room Service had to come twice because they 'forgot' part of the order. Basically, the kitchen needs work! The maintenance of the room balcony areas were not clean. The buildings needed noticeable repainting. The public areas were in good shape. Shuttle services were fine. It's still a nice place to visit with lots to do, but I'm afraid it seems to be going a little down.

One of the worst customer service experiences I e had. Over and over I found the front desk to be unhelpful, unsympathetic, dismissive and unkind. They gave incomplete communication time and time which resulted in hours of wasted time. Waiting for rides, waiting for rooms, ect.

The property is insanely dated for the price. The rooms have 90s furniture and most rooms don’t have views. Save yourself time and frustration and book elsewhere.
The grounds however are lovely.

This was our second time staying at this resort, and it was just as stunning as I remembered. Absolutely beautiful property with wonderful rooms and helpful staff. My only small gripe would be that some of the outlets in our room didn’t work, and the headboard light was not working for some reason as well. Overall another amazing stay. To the restaurant: please don't serve the same vegan dish under two menu headings (cabbage, mushroom.) The vegan pasta was gross. Please up your game here I can spend this much money in SF for easily better vegan food at Shizen or similar.

Also, no one in any department on the property answers the phone. Seriously. In room dining, guest services, activities, 10 calls each no answer.

Stayed here with my wife and 8 month old daughter for one night on trip back home from Northern California.

When you have a baby it’s not easy to feel accommodated at places you stay but this hotel resort was very welcoming to families of all ages and sizes.

We loved our stay here and actually wished we could stay an extra night. The rooms were spacious and quiet. Plus the property is large enough to go for a walk and see deer and turkeys grazing. Also they have shuttles that will pick you and bring you to clubhouse if you need a lift.

Highly recommended and we look forward to staying here again.

A/C filled the room with bad smell

Staff lost paperwork and implied I tried to avoid paying pet fee: during the check-in I told receptionist I have a dog, agreed to pay the pet fee and filled out the pet form. The next day staff was investigating dog noise and I said our dog was quiet. Staff told me I didn't pay the pet fee and I should fill out the form, when I told them I did fill it out during the check-in they continued to insist I need to fill it out and implied I was lying. They did not apologize for making a mistake until I confronted them.

Overrated and overpriced

I stay in a lot of upscale hotels, but this one is extremely overrated and overpriced. I had wanted to stay at the CVR for some time now, and I am very disappointed with my stay. The property is so spread out that you need to take your car to the lobby or get a golf cart ride. Needless to say that nobody hangs out in the lobby unless they are passing through to go to eat. Rooms are not easily accessible and you need to lug your bags up and down stairs. Breakfast buffet was subpar with a very limited choice of food. Croissants were hard/old, à la carte avocado toast was tough, and eggs were rubbery. The buffet was not worth the price at all. The waiters seemed bothered when we asked them something and did not make us feel welcome. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant, but went to Lucia at Bernardo which is amazing. We changed room because we could hear the busy road from our room even though we had requested a quiet room. Our second room was nice. I paid almost $2000 for 2 nights. This 2-night stay was worth $800 at most. This place is overrated. Service it not what you would expect for the price. I would not stay there again.

The lodge lobby was nice. Otherwise our experience was totally disappointing. Our room was false advertising. The room condition didn’t match description for the high cost we paid. The room was filled with a bad odor, and came with a dusty outdoor tub that is street-facing. We reached out to the staff, who kept us waiting for 30-45min and never got back to us. We wouldn’t want to stay in the room even if it were for free. We ended up departing the property. This experience ruined our vacation :(.

We really enjoyed our stay. We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday and they sure made us feel special with welcome treat & champagne.

We had fun hiking on the premise and visiting the little farm for a meet & greet with the animals. The only downside I'd say is that the pool that allows children is 2 minute car ride away. We didn't end up going to the pool as logistics would be too much hassle with our toddler. Regardless, we're very happy with our stay!

I thought the hilltop yoga was great and great to be able to walk around the grounds, garden ,vineyard, club house etc.
The spa facility was excellent and the employees at the spa were great and attentive. The room was nice and private and spacious. Was not a fan of the food in the main dining and the drinks were ok, weak.

Where do I start…the room is ridiculously overpriced, given the overall experienced. $900 dollars is far too much for a bland room, with an empty mini bar, no water and a dramatically different look (worse) from the one advertised online. Will not be staying there again.

PRoperty is gorgeous and the rooms are big. But the room lighting was terribly glitchy and the service was a bit sketchy for place this expensive. Arrived late on a Friday and there was no drinking water in the room and nowhere to get anything on the property. No laundry service on Saturday. Reception was badly marked in the building. Restaurant was good but room service b-fast started too late. One night there was no self parking at the Lodge and no way to know that was the case. The valet was mishandled. Overall the management felt 2nd rate, not sharp for a $1000+/night and one night had to park a half mile away from my room.

It’s been my 5th visit. The ranch is very nice with big trees and beautiful grounds. The rooms are old, dark and cold. The beds are uncomfortable. The sofa in the living room
had a big cut on top of it/fabric. It is visible, 20 cm. long. You could see the material underneath, it has been there for a while I guess. The room has a beautiful and big balcony with only 2 chairs and a small coffee table. Our room was for 5 people. We went there with our two kids. We couldn’t sit there all together because of that. They have 3 pools (I have never seen the third one), 2 of them are for adults only. I understand that but whenever we visited them the adult pool has very few guests but family pool is always over crowded, you can’t find a chair if you don’t go there really early. If not you have to wait for other people to leave which is very uncomfortable. The food was much better in previous years, now it’s ok. I think everything is overpriced! The stuff is nice and friendly.

The good: This is a beautiful property. It is gorgeously landscaped and the lodge decor and pool/infinity hot tub are lovely. The nightly fire pits burning real wood, were cozy and lovely and the complimentary s’mores kits were a fun perk.

The so-so: rooms are fairly bland and feel slightly cold/sterile. There is a 1990s vibe to the decor. The two different 1BR suites we stayed in were both newly renovated but still felt dated, sadly.

The disappointing: the guest-to-staff ratio seemed extremely low for the star-level and price of this property. There were times when we made requests for simple things (plates and silverware, hand towels, etc) and had to wait so long for the requests to be fulfilled that we checked back 30-40 minutes after the first request to inquire about when the requested items would be delivered.

Several times, we would call the front desk and it would ring repeatedly and not ever be answered - on two occasions, it was necessary for me to walk 10 minutes to the Lodge in order to get assistance.

Cleanliness of property: Abandoned towels and empty plastic glasses left lying on the chairs and ground around the pool and not picked up at any point during our visit to the hot tub. With the overall lack of cleanliness it just felt as if there either wasn’t enough staff or maybe the hotel didn’t place a high priority on it.

Staff: The all seemed young and inexperienced which is prob the biggest problem with this visit.

Requested early check in and while I understand it is not guaranteed, the front desk quoted me an earlier time and even after receiving the room key, arrived at the room with subpar cleanliness in the bathroom and stains on the sheets.

Mind you, I had my 2yo with us and by the time we were given a 2nd room, it was close to 6pm.

The property is grossly understaffed ! Poor communication between staff and managements!
If you’re paying a 1000$ a night you should get a top notch service! Gave us a wrong room and did not mention a thing until I found about it! Of course because of covid we double clean the room ourselves and u pack so changing the room was not logical even tho after a long discussion with the management the acknowledged the mistake and offered the room I originally reserved for the next day because it was not available at the time and gave us a 100$ credit! Out of 3000$ ridiculous!
Room did not get clean the first day, we had to call to have trash removed! Furniture missing in the room( have pictures of what they brought) 7 feet long picnic table and garden chairs to replace a missing dining table in the room! Asked for coffee mugs and did not happen for 24 hours until we went down and got it in person!
All and all, it was a waste of money! If you’re a family with kids maybe it’s a value but it’s def not a romantic getaway ! Kids are everywhere loud and all over the place!
I did not know the area that’s why I reserved this place thinking it is a 5 star property and service but unfortunately I do not give them any star!
There are more beautiful places that has the same amenities but more kept up and on point!

This is a beautiful property! We love the lush landscape, and it's dog friendly. Also, enjoyed the seclusive of each suite. Though the staff are very friendly & accommodating, there seemed to be a bit of technical issue of applying the credit promised.
