I had a lovely stay at the Senatus hotel and I would return again . I loved the location I could walk to anywhere and the train was also close . The facilities were a little dated mainly the carpet in the hallways was tattered but the rooms were very modern and comfortable and good size .

Great experience. Check in was speedy, room /facility was ~good ( obviously smaller space vs. USA lodgings), overall acceptable. Breakfast was perfect and great attendance by staff.

Overall very pleased with property and it is a great central location for all the old town activities you are looking for. Would recommend to American / other travelers as it check the boxes of economy, cleanliness, professionalism and location.

Brilliant hotel, located close to some of the main attractions in Sultanahmet - and within easy reach (5mins walk) of two tram lines.

The room and bathroom offered everything needed (including a fridge, free bottled water daily and air conditioning), the breakfast buffet had a good range of options, for an evening meal there was an on-site (paid) restaurant - and the staff were very welcoming and friendly.

The hotel was very communicative from the moment we booked. Our room was spacious and in nice condition (we chose a King Suite). The gent at reception recommended and organised Turkish bath and boat cruise for us (which we would normally do independently). The restaurant downstairs is very convenient and the 20% off was appreciated. Breakfast was varied each day and the gent serving tea and coffee was very friendly. Few minutes walk to the big mosques and tram stops, as well as the waterfront. Few watchouts : 1, the private indoor hot tub is a bath, 2, the restaurant will charge £8ish for olives and bread whether you touch the olives or not (bread was too yummy to leave!) And 3, the Turkish bath was very naked for women, not for men (previously i have worn swimmies). Istanbul is fabulous and has many different districts worth a tram ride. We had an amazing visit. Last thank you to Senatus - we had an illness incident in the night and they were very helpful! Good to have 24H reception!

The room is too small and smelly. One staff was too rude during our stay. They did not clean the room even after requesting couple of times. I would not recommend anyone for this hotel. This hotel should not be a four stars, may be equivalent to motel 6 here in US.

Staff were super accommodating from the moment we booked our stay. They almost immediately reached out to let us know they could help arrange airport transfers(for a reasonable cost) as well as help with any kind of tour bookings or excursions. They were very welcoming and knowledgeable of the area. Location was perfecr, lots of historical sights nearby and lots of late night food and drink options. Our group had such a good experience, and I can't emphasize enough how accommodating the staff were. They definitely showed us the true definition of Turkish hospitality even before our stay.
Id also like to ad that some of the Tout's in the area can be VERY pushy(this is to be expected if you want to stay within close proximity to the historical sites), but the area in front of the hotel and attached restaraunt youll have breakfast at are a hassle free zone, and they make a point of enforcing it. They offer hookah as well.

We had an early morning flight(before restaraunt opened), and the kind gentleman at the front desk even made sure we had sandwhiches to go since we'd be missing the complimentary breakfast when we got on our shuttle to the airport

Overall, finding this place was such a blessing for us. We booked last minute after canceling our reservation at ciragan palace due to some last minute emergency vet bills and life events, and the location, service, and price really couldnt be beat.

Service here is exceptional! Breakfast is great. Hardwood floor had gaps where dirt collects. I recommend replacing floors. Baseboards are filthy. Bathroom was clean. Bedding was clean with exception of spread which we took off the bed and put in closet. All in all it was great for the value.

We loved the staff. Ishmael and the other managers bent over backwards to make us comfortable. They were so friendly and helpful. Recommended and organized a sunset cruise around the Bosphorus for $20 euro each. Fabulous. The next day we had a private tour with Sait who was so terrific. $100 euro each. We had vip entrance to the underground cistern system which was unbelievable. Also Hagia Sophia and blue mosque, spice market, metro system and a first class authentic lunch in the old city. We picked this hotel by chance and were so very very pleased. Highly recommend.

Solid Stay at Senatus

We had a good stay at the Senatus hotel, very close (5-7 min walk) to the main historic sites like Haga Sophia, Blue Mosque, and the Topkapi palace. We felt welcomed and the staff were friendly and suggested tours to us when we asked.

The breakfast varied a bit each day and was good. We had the deluxe room with balcony and enjoyed the view, with a small view of the haga Sophia over the side. The one downside of the room was that it smelled a bit funny and we aired it out at the end of the day, but I think it was because of the pipes and likely something not easily fixed.

A few things to note: it was a bit loud at night with the bars and restaurants, so we were happy we had a sound machine. There is also a lot of hassling that the nearby restaurants do as you walk by, but luckily not the hotel restaurant.

It is about a 20-25 min walk from the ferry and the Galata bridge, and if I had to go again I’d do a hotel a little more in between the main sites and the Galata bridge area. It is an uphill walk to the main areas and coming back from Galata area, so may be challenging for those with accessibility needs.

I’d give this hotel an overall good rating, and I appreciate staying at smaller places that aren’t chains to support local. Its no frills and won’t suit fancier travelers, but for us semi-budget travelers it worked well.

The young man at the front desk was amazing. He scheduled a bosphorous tour for us and it was a great way to see some things that we wouldn’t have been able to do since we were only there for 2 days post cruise. The free breakfast was absolutely delicious with a variety of choices. The waiter at the restaurant was so sweet! I wish I would have gotten his name, however I do know his cats name is Sylvester. The bed was comfortable and so close to everything! 10 out of 10!!

Great location if you want to go to the big two mosques. Hotel is very lowkey and quiet. Guy at the front is nice. The double room is tiny but okay if you are going with a close friend or family member, someone you are comfortable with. Room was clean. Was a little depressing vibe because it seemed like we were the only ones there and lighting was dim.

We have stayed at this hotel on many occasions and cannot fault the service we have received. Location is great- close to many tourist attractions including the blue mosque and Sofia Hagia.
On the down side, a new bar has opened up across the hotel and unfortunately they have music blaring until 3am! Breakfast was also basic compared to previous years.

The hotel is in a great location, just couple of minutes walk to Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque. It is 3* hotel. The room was really small, but luckily we were out most of the time so didn't mind that. The breakfast buffet was bit limited to our taste, but it depends on everyone's taste.

The staff at this hotel are really amazing. The front desk is so helpful. The hotel is very conveniently located near blue mosque and Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace.

Our room wasn't the cleanest and there was mold growing in the caulk and grout in the shower. Also, and there's nothing the hotel can do about this, but I wish I had known how noisy the street was going to be. Sultanahmet is loud generally, but this street is particularly loud. The nearby businesses don't stop blaring music until 2am.

The location was close to where we wanted to be. There were numerous dining and shopping options within a few minute walk. The area appeared very safe and the staff were very friendly. A few minor areas of concern. The bed was extremely soft which may be an issue for a few people. The TV had hundreds of stations that the hotel did not pay for access and there were only 2 viewable in English, one of which was an Japanese lifestyle station. Our bathroom towelbar was falling off wall. Overall the lack of TV and the towel rack were minor and the comfort of the soft bed was subjective. It still was a great location and the staff were helpful when asked any questions or local advice. The minor issues would not prevent me from staying there again.
