Owing to snow falls my flight from Aberdeen was cancelled and the next earliest BA could offer was 3 days later. I wrote and explained and asked if the dates could kindly be changed - got no response.

I booked and had to pay for another hotel.

The property has list its lustre that it had, ...having used the location for over 6 years this stay felt different.

Uber drivers used to be able to drive in to pick and drop off passengers.. now one has to pay to enter the promises. The customer service that the staff had had gone....the Shuttle driver couldn't wait for 2 minutes while we picked up our luggage.

This is one facility that i liked in Johannesburg..but all good things come to an end.

This is probably the most inappropriate $203 I paid for a hotel at the airport which has it turned out The room was terribly small, the TV didn’t work even after they came to change the battery in a remote control and if you call 1010, you would be on the phone for ever for someone to come and give you a hand. It is far away from the casinos and restaurants and so I will not advise anyone to ever book a room in this hotel and Expedia you know better than to advertise this hotel. So if you fly to Johannesburg, do not go there. I had to pay another extra $12 for a private car to take me to the terminal because the shuttle only works from 7 o’clock on. Not happy.

The reason for 3 stars, we were given a room by the highway although the hotel was pretty much empty this time of year
We stayed here before and we got a very nice room and no noise
Traffic and noise from it, did not die down until about 1 am, and started again at 5 am. We were very tired but could not sleep

Bed bugs/dust mite dilemma

Our check was at 3pm, we arrived at 4pm to find out that the rooms were not ready yet. We were asked to return at 5pm and to our disappointment had to wait another 30mins for the reception to receive feedback from housekeeping. Eventually we checked in, and was told maintenance will be coming to fix a leaking handbasin. We walked through the passages that reeked of tobacco smoke!! Rooms are tiny for the price we paid; the worst experience was the tiny little bites we endured soonest we slept on the beds which was most uncomfortable, too soft and wobbly mattress with very thin duvet ; clearly poor quality linen! Hardly slept through the night due to the severe scratching from the dust mites or bed bugs as we couldn’t hear or see one mosquito.

First 3 hours after arriving the aircon wasn’t working on a 30° day. At night the speakers outside the main entrance and outside my window and by the lifts played music until 4 in the morning despite multiple visits to the front desk- no sleep! Room next door ordered room service and the tray was left on the floor outside for 24 hours - dirty

Fun, convenient hotel for a JNB transit.

Quick shuttle ride to hotel, although it filled up quickly on a Saturday. Check-in process was quick and staff is friendly. The casino and surrounding restaurants are fantastic as well as the buffet breakfast. We’ve stayed here around 5 times now while transiting through JNB and always had a great experience.

Every time I stay the showers always leak on the floors so you need plenty of towels to mop the water up. The extraction fan in the bath room is very noisy and it runs all the time making it very noisy at night. Everything else was fine. Thanks

It was dreadful I reported to the front desk that the air conditioning was not working. They said they would report it to maintenance to come and fix it. At 9.15pm I went in person to the front desk they assured me that it would be fixed. I asked for another room as it was unbearably hot. We waited until 10.30pm and the air conditioning still hadn't been sorted. For the amount of money that was paid the situation was completely and utterly unacceptable.

I was charged twice for my room. No one would give me a receipt or come forward with a truthful explanation on what happened. If there is a trainee who has made errors this should be communicated to clients . I now have to wait for 7-14 days for a refund.

Terrible. Easily one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Incredibly bad value for money - this was almost R3.5K for the night. Room was like a box with a dripping toilet. Eventually got moved to another box next to a staff room. Noise all night. Never ever ever again.

Whilst the hotel was fine, our experience has been soured by a double charge for our room, through both Expedia, with whom we booked, and Gulliver's Travels, who we do not recognise.

We have referred this back to the hotel by email, but after 48 hours have had no acknowledgment.

On our previous stay, a similar double booking was remedied by staff.

Wrong room type?

The day we arrived they were fuller booked. I suspect they gave us the standard room (room 305) in stead of the superior room that we paid for, much smaller room.
We question the next day and front desk responded immediately by giving us another superior room (room 301) which is 20% bigger. I believe Hotels.com should challenge the hotel and get a partial refund for that first night.
Otherwise everything is great.

We arrived early am 16th so they only charged is for one day. Check in was made harder by our late arrival and their lack of english. Ot all was made right and we enjoyed the hotel. I will be contacting expedia for a credit when I get back to Australia in September. RG

Poor service despite having good location.

Booked 5 rooms and encounter several frustrations
1) One of the room, door could not be opened by card-key. Every time must call the housekeeper to open. The hotel does not take initiative to change to another until being asked. When asked, the receptionist said 'Please to my Manager'. That is the level of service for 4-stars hotel !
2) Some room does not supply with bottle water ?
3) Bar at the hotel rejected to charge bill to room. I have to go to reception counter to get authorization by myself before they agreed. The staffs is behaving like customer while the guest have to settle all issues by themselves.

Amazing hotel experience. I didn't realise this was part of a complex of hotels - there were 16 restaurants to choose from and a variety of cost options, although I packed in enough at the included breakfast to only need one other meal per day. I had 3 days that I needed to stay here waiting for an overseas package - I went to the movies (as they have an excellent and comfortable movie theatre), the casino to play the tables, the gym to work out (although this could have been better equipt) and the spa.
The staff were friendly, the place was very clean and comfortable. The only downside was room was a bit smaller than I expected - usually I like enough room to put my yoga mat down and stretch out (i don't expect to be able to stretch out in all directions, but there wasn't enough room at the side of the bed to stretch at all).
Overall really great though

Handy location for the airport. Plenty to eat, good buffet breakfast and connected to the casino food court.

Windows are shocking, we had two rooms none of the windows closed properly and the double glazing is not what I would expect from an airport hotel.

Aircon worked well in only one of the rooms and one TV had a full selection of HD channels while the other was like watching a bootleg VHS from the 1980s.

There are plenty of hotels near JNB. Choose carefully.

The lady at the reception was very nice and professional, but she was the only staff we crossed that was like that.
Although the shuttle is free, drivers will ask you for tip every time. the shuttle times are not reliable and calling to the hotel to request for informaiton is not helpful, they will answer agressively and give contradictory answers, like there are no more shuttles today or the shuttle is on its way in the same sentence.

Good comfortable Hotel with friendly staff

The overall stay was good on most counts. Excellent staff member on checking in! Neat, comfortable room. A good selection of restaurants to choose from and an exciting casino with an amazing verity of slots to play.
The not so good points as follows: 1) no top sheet on the bed - it was either the duvet or nothing, the duvet was too hot and nothing was too cool, we like to have a sheet to pull up if cool 2) the breakfast had a good selection, but there were a few problems in this area a) the regular bacon was extremely chewy, I don't know why that should be and i found it most strange - perhaps I should have selected the crispy option of bacon on display.b) the staff frying the eggs seemed efficient in her duties but the egg she served me broke on the hot/grilling plate and I presumed she would give me one of the others that were almost ready (she had quite a number of eggs on the go at that moment) however she continued to serve me the egg with the yellow of the egg dripping out all the way to my plate - I accepted this without causing a scene as there were a lot of people in the queue c) the labelling of the food on display - First error was the \"Haddock\" was actually Kippers! The second was the cauliflower - there was no warning or signage that this was cooked in an EXTREMELY hot sauce! We both eat HOT/Spicy food, hot curries (Vindaloo) & Hot Peri peri dishes - and this spoilt the breakfast overall - a person with a low tolerance could have had a serious problem!!

Close to the Airport-Good for one night

We chose this hotel because it is close to the airport and next to a shopping mall and some restaurants.

We stayed for one night as the next day we had to drive to Kruger National Park. It is close to the highway N12 that leads to Kruger National Park and just 5 minutes from the Airport.

The rooms are old and very small but clean. Breakfast was average. The hotel staff were good and nice. Parking is availabe and walkable.

We have stayed a number of times. We have always found the staff very friendly and we enjoy the fact that we don't have to leave the premises for dinner, there a number of restaurants within the building. We have only ever used it for one night stay on way to or from the country. The breakfast is great! The shuttle from and to the airport is also available free of charge. They will also hold your luggage if you need that.

convenient to airport, gautrain

two notes:

1) hotel does not have any electric adaptors, so if you do not have one of your own, you will be unable to plug in any US three-pronged plugs

2) airport shuttle is very convenient and free. also, bus service to gautrain (to get to joburg and pretoria) is convenient... but you must have a ticket before you board bus, and dispensers were all out of them. you could go back to airport with shuttle and grab gautrain from there, but yourtrip will then cost 3x the price (300ZAR round-trip versus 100ZAR)

The hotel rooms are quite small though nicely decorated. Barely makes it as a 4 star hotel. The building work in the bathroom was a bit shoddy and the area badly designed. If you were a large person you would not fit into the narrow bath and could injure yourself on the basin top, which juts out over the bath. The breakfast was ok but the service poor. The fruit salad was old which was off-putting. Breakfast was included fortunately as the rate wasn't cheap. We attended a show at the Casino complex and enjoyed the stay-over irrespective. I would say the hotel could benefit for some stricter management- the staff seemed a bit slack.
