Just be aware photos and actual are not really what you get. The beds are against wall can not walk around unless walk sideways. Bathtub is so high to access. Clean room, and best location. Great breakfast!

This hotel would have received a higher rating, however money was stolen from our room during our stay. We specifically brought this to the attention of the staff, who directed us to the Manager. We stated we had not requested a room clean and had the signage placed outside our room and the room was cleaned anyway, and the money went missing. He stated the cleaning staff was contractual and not his staff and he would look into it by sending an email to the cleaning company. He told us we should have placed belongings into the hotel safe in his office, of which we were never told of at check-in, or any other time. He basically stated it was of our fault as we had taken the risk of leaving items in our room. To be clear: the cash was in a zippered wallet within a bag, in addition to the fact that we had the 'do not disturb' sign on our door. He stated the cleaners are paid per room they clean so it is not uncommon for them to take the sign off and clean the room, so there was \"nothing he could do.\" The least he could have done as the Manager was to discount the room for the amount of money lost, but to date (a month later), absolutely NOTHING has been done.
We are well seasoned world travelers and have never had an issue in any of our travels with theft. Highly disappointed in the lack of care or concern of hotel guests. I would encourage looking elsewhere to stay.

Location is the only reason you would stay here. Tiny rooms, no amenities, no parking, no staff apart from front desk who are classically minimalist. Dirty, tired and not as advertised. I think Hotels.com need to do better at protecting how venues advertise

I already left a detailed review on the search platform everyone knows.
In short, if you are put in room 514, you are in for a ride unless you don’t mind showering in the open bathroom, using a toilet that was installed in the dark, and being woken up in the middle of the night by electrical wires that are doing an amazing jackhammer impression.
If you are put in any other room, you’ll probably have a lovely stay.

There was not much room to walk around the bed and very little shelf and hanging space, so could not unpack. There was very little room to maneuver to use the toilet and had to sit sideways!
The hotel is very well situated in the Vieux Port with all the places we wanted to visit and eat at in walking distance.
The hotel's breakfast buffet at extra charge was well worth it and excellent, and a good start to a day's sightseeing.

The internet was spotty.
Locking the door using a physical key was a bit of a challenge at first.

I recently stayed at Hôtel Carré Vieux Port and overall had a pleasant experience. The bed was incredibly comfortable, providing a great night's sleep after a long day of exploring. However, the WiFi was quite disappointing, with slow speeds and frequent disconnections. Despite this inconvenience, the rest of the amenities and the friendly staff made up for it. I would still consider staying here again, as the location is perfect and the comfort of the bed outweighed the WiFi issues. Hopefully, the WiFi will be improved in the future.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was ok. Expresso was more like filter coffee.
One surprise: I was given the wrong information about taxi, but it was a younger staff member at the desk. The taxi she called for me added an 8 euro surcharge for Sunday and cost double what she said it would.
Warning: the walls are very thin. I was woken at 3am when the neighbour returned to his room. The person made a lot of noise opening and closing their door, then there was banging around their room for about 20 minutes.

The hotel is lovely, clean and modern and just a short block from the pier. We arrived well before checkin time and the staff was very friendly and stored our luggage, so we could go out and explore for the afternoon. Close to all the action and markets but the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. We will be back!

The staff, particularly Leah, were so friendly and helpful. The bathrooms that have a tub/shower can be awkward getting in and out in a tight space but we had plenty of quality linens, the beds were very comfortable, they had several English speaking news outlets and the location is perfect. One short block from the old port, restaurants everywhere and small upscale shops. Very good breakfast.

Stayed 2 nights and our room is on 2nd floor. Booked it through expedia so check in is quick. Only had to deal with staff when leaving room key in and out. Pictures/reviews are deceiving for this property. Not worth the money and stay. Only good thing is steps away from the port but that is all you get with heavy tourist. The room we had (Superior double room) is so small. Bathroom door is hitting the bed when open. Very crammed. We are aware of small hotel rooms in Europe but this one is one of the worst. The hotel advertised with AC but they had it locked and controlled. They only switched on the air for a short time just to cool the room then it is off at night! After you shower the room gets so stuffy! Our room has windows but DO NOT OPEN IT! MOSQUITOS! We are up and hardly got any sleep during our stay. It is very loud and noisy. Yes you are on vacation but you still want to get some good sleep at night, you will be surrounded with noise all night through morning. Inside the hotel hallway/stairs the lights are motion sensor so it is off and dark. Again, seems all is controlled. There is nothing good about our stay here and experience, prob the first and last visit to Marseille.

I don’t normally leave reviews but I feel I need to share our experience with this hotel. We don’t know why this hotel got good reviews. Please stay away and book a hotel farther from Vieux Port.

Lovely hotel and within a few minutes walk from the harbour. Metro Vieux Port exit is a couple of minutes from the Hotel entrance. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable. Buffet breakfast had a nice variety of food, really good quality and serviced by a lovely friendly lady. Would definitely stay here again as and when in Marseille.

This hotel is in a perfect location for visitors who want to be near the old Harbor of Marseille and has great access to the metro, tram and buses. I ended up staying there for a week and the front desk. Staff were most helpful with suggestions and information. My only criticism is that my room was just a tad small for a week’s stay, But I’m very glad that I was there for my first visit to the wonderful city of Marseille.

The hotel staff suggested to take taxi to airport. I asked front desk staff the cost since I know Uber costs. The staff told me it would be 45 euros, actually it is 75 euros. I believe the staff get some commission from taxi. So no trust them . It is not good ! The taxi took 25 mins without traffic at all.

Recommend this hotel. The staff were super friendly. Great location that's a 1min walk from the Ports & 2min walk from the nearest Metro station (which is ideal for getting to & from the train station or airport). The room was clean and pretty standard. Breakfast had a great selection.Having to leave the key at the front deak everytime you come & go was a littler annoying but it's done to prevent the loss of keys and was the only set back.

Dirty tiny room not as advertised

The room was a 'superior'room that was tiny and nothing like the images on the website or app. It was dirty, smelled of sweat and was the worst room we have had in over 20 yrs of travels. The window looked out onto a brick wall and ventilation shaft, nor quite the 'superior' room view as advertised. For the first time in 20yrs we couldn't stay in this room and the hotel response was a simple, \" nothing we can do\". If expensive and dirty is your thing this stay here, if not then avoid!!

Bad Management-Very Disorganized Staff
The staff is not well trained when it comes to recording if you made a reservation for breakfast or not. When you reserve the day before, they forget that you did and embarrass you in front of people asking you repeatedly if you did make a reservation. Fatima, the lady at the breakfast buffet, is extremely rude and condescending. They expect you to have breakfast everyday in their facility and will try to charge you even when you never made a reservation. It is much more pleasant to have breakfast at a café outside of the hotel than in their boring room on the first floor. They lack honesty and integrity. Very bad management. I have never experienced such lack of professionalism.

I booked this hotel based on its location and air conditioning, but to my disappointment, it turned out that the hotel did not have air conditioning. Instead, they had a central fan system. The most frustrating part was that the staff insisted that they did have air conditioning.

When we arrived, the receptionist informed us that they were undergoing maintenance on the air conditioning system, which explained why it wasn't working. Our room was located on the top floor, and we could see the maintenance work being carried out. To summarize, this property did not have a functional air conditioning system.

We contacted Expedia, and they attempted to move us to another room. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked, and our room was specifically designed for three people, which limited our options, as such rooms are not widely available in most hotels in France. The worst part was that I had booked a five-night stay during June, which is summer time with high temperatures.

The next day, the hotel's solution was to provide us with three fans, one for each person. We decided to endure the discomfort and left the hotel early in the morning, only returning late at night. Although the management was understanding, their only resolution was to provide us with fans.

If you plan to stay at this hotel, I would strongly advise against visiting during the summer months. Otherwise, this experience turned out to be a nightmare due to the lack of air conditioning.

We reserved the 'superior' room thinking that it was better than a regular room. The room had almost no natural light with a view of the back of the other building. Not nice. The mattress protector did not fit the bed and kept on coming off. The bottles in the shower of gel and shampoo were empty and lastly the glasses that they left for you to use were plastic and dirty.

Being at the heart of Vieux Port, this hotel provides excellent access to public transportation. The metro is right at the corner. Need a taxi? They call and the cab would come within 5min. Sight-seeing bus, train, and boats are 5-minute walk away, too. The hotel is very clean with a modern feel. Staff are attentive and helpful. Yet the rates are reasonable. It’s an excellent choice (I cannot say the same things about the one I’m staying at right now in Nice). I’d definitely be back!

I stayed in the Vieux Carré Hôtel in May, 2023. Paid 104 € per night. I stayed four nights. Hotel was very clean, very nice. And you couldn’t hope for a better location. I came to Marseille a few days before boarding a cruise. I would be very happy to stay here again.

This is a great little hotel. The location is superb, close to most of the tourist sites, only 15 min walk from the train station.
Breakfast buffet was wonderful: fresh juice, scrambled eggs, French bread, cheese, ham, fresh fruit, yogurt, chocolate croissants, and coffee, of course . . .
The room was smaller than in most American hotels; travelers wanting a lot of space in their room to hang out should stay somewhere else. There was a very small desk & chair with an electric kettle, a small bedside table, and a queen-size bed. The bathroom had shower only, no tub.
I got a room with a balcony, and you can see the old port. I suspect that rooms without a balcony do not have a view (unless you hang out the window and look sideways).
The staff were very helpful.
