I recently returned to the Swiss Wine Hotel during my 2025 trip to Switzerland, eager to reconnect with friends and explore the charming city of Lausanne and its surroundings. Once again, the hotel proved to be the perfect base for my adventures.

Its unbeatable location right outside Bessières Metro station made getting around a breeze, while a Coop supermarket just across the street offered convenience for any essentials. Within walking distance, I enjoyed visiting the historic Place de la Riponne and the breathtaking cathedral, all easily accessible via a scenic stroll across the Charles Bessières Bridge.

My room (605) was impeccably clean and furnished with a plush, comfortable bed that ensured a restful night’s sleep. The only minor drawback was the warmth, as the room was situated in the attic, which made it quite cozy. However, the air conditioning swiftly alleviated the heat, albeit quite noisy when in operation.

Despite that small inconvenience, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. I highly recommend the Swiss Wine Hotel to anyone seeking a cozy, well-located spot in Lausanne. It’s a true gem for both leisure and exploration!

A little disappointed

Silverfish in the bathroom, mould in the mini fridge, and no air conditioning. Honestly, I expected better. On the plus side, sheets and towels were clean, staff were kind, toiletries were replenished every day, and there was an extra fan in the room.

There was a ceiling fan and a table fan but they did not really make the room temperature comfortable for sleeping. The windows open but it was noisy at night because of European football finals taking place and locals celebrating the matches in the streets.

I had great stay at the Swiss Wine Hotel during a recent trip to Switzerland, where I reconnected with friends and explored the charming city and beyond.

The hotel's location is perfect for exploring Lausanne, with Bessières Metro station right outside the door and a convenient Coop supermarket just across the street. The historic Place de la Riponne and the stunning cathedral are also within walking distance of the hotel; just a short stroll across the picturesque Charles Bessières Bridge.

My room was immaculately clean and boasted a supremely comfortable bed, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The only minor drawback was the room's warmth, as it didn't have air conditioning. However, I was able to manage by opening the windows during the day to let in the fresh air and closing them at night to enjoy a peaceful sleep (as my room faced onto the main street).

Despite this minor issue, I would definitely consider staying here again on a future visit. In fact, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and conveniently located hotel in Lausanne. Just be prepared for a warm stay during the summer months!

The staff were very friendly and the hotel was in a great location. Easy access to the train and close to many restaurants and cafes. The view from the room was great too (the Lausanne Cathedreal). However, our room was dirty (coffee stains on the walls, cobwebs on the floors, etc.). The conditions were also not great (the toilet paper holder was falling off the wall, the shower always made the floor wet, it was hard to open the bathroom door, dents in the wall, etc.). The wifi was also spotty and slow. Larger fans were needed in the room, since there was no air conditioning. It was extremely hot during our stay.

Good location, but shame about A/C

Great location.
There were two saunas on offer. The first was down by the fitness area- would recommend.
The second is actually your room, with the lack of air-con giving you 24/7 opportunity to open those pores. There is a fan that acts as substitute to the A/C. It is as useful as those powder milk substitutes that you get in some hotels… oh wait.

Amazing wine themed hotel

Absolutely loved this wine themed hotel. Stayed one night before catching a morning train to Paris. The wine decor was fantastic, it was clean,right across the street from the Metro that was only three quick stops from Lausanne Gare which is perfect if taking the TGV. Also the staff was really friendly and helpful. Would 100% recommend staying in this modern hotel.

The location is perfect for the Metro just 3 stops from the main railway station. Close to the cathedral and fantastic eating places.

The reception staff are super friendly, helpful and take interest in you and your reason for visiting - offering help and suggestions where needed.

Our room had a lovely view over towards the cathedral.

Very quiet hotel which the housekeeping staff keep super clean and tidy.

We will return and highly recommend it as a location to stay.

Great Hotel Stay- Parking Experience Terrible

The hotel was familiar to me as I had stayed there several years ago when it was the City Hotel. It is much nicer than it was then and recently upgraded. It is well-located for ease of access to the heart of Lausanne. There is an elevator for luggage. The bed and covers were exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was new and excellent, and the hot shower was terrific. There was coffee service and a refrigerator. The TV had good programming for USA travelers. We did not partake in the breakfast service, but the breakfast room looked attractive. Our only major disappointment was the parking situation. We were NOT guided well to the Mon Repos Parking garage. We were given a ticket to put into the parking machine upon exiting, allowing us to pay 50% off. Unfortunately, it was not emphasized that the closer garage was NOT the garage to park in. We found that out upon exiting when we paid an exorbitant parking bill! There are several garages around the area, and the garage with the discount required driving around the block. It should have been emphasized to travelers that there are several garages around and to NOT go to so and so, but to Mon Repos around the block. The sticker shock of the higher-priced garage and no discount really killed the otherwise lovely stay. We are still quite upset by it; the garage bill for two days of parking costs more than a night in the hotel! Sadly, that really tainted an otherwise pleasant stay!

Location of the hotel was excellent. There was a metro stop right outside the front door. Our room was clean. The bed was a bit uncomfortable as it seemed to slant to headboard slightly but otherwise the mattress and pillow were great. Our biggest complaint about this hotel was the wine bar is CLOSED! We came back from our day and hoped to get a glass of wine before heading out to dinner and it was only then that were told the wine bar has been closed for a while. I wish that was indicated on their website and on the hotels.com website. We could buy a bottle of wine for our room but not a glass. Other than that, it was a good choice for our stay.

Worst night ever.

There was some bottles of water with capsules without bottle opener. Strange concept.
There was a noisy fan (no airconditioning). I had too choose between having a disturbing noise all night or melt into my bed without noise. I couldnt sleep, so i decided to watch TV. At 23h58, the TV went off. Worst night ever. So, if you want to sleep in a noisy hoven, i highly recommand this hotel.

There are 2 good points: It's well located and the staff is friendly.

The room was comfortable and despite being on a busy road the noise from outside was not intrusive. The breakfast room is delightful and with a good choice of food items, but expensive. There is no lunchtime or evening restaurant but there are many cafe and restaurant options (and a supermarket) nearby. However on the Saturday night there was a loud party by other guests in some of the rooms in the hotel which led to interrupted sleep.

This hotel is Morden and nicely located to the old town and may restaurants. Room is nice, big and comfortable.
Unfortunately my experience was not great. There must be a night club next door, and I could hear very loud and heavy beats until about 2 am in the morning. Plus the room is very warm and only has a ceiling fan.

Cool hotel and very accommodating (though it was one person who made the experience as great as it was, not everyone working at the front desk was as guest-centric. I absolutely loved the unique 6th floor rooms with the window - room 606 has an amazing view and is a nice size. They are small, but that was perfect for just me. It does get very hot up there, but the AC worked well. At night, I had an amazing breeze 2/3 nights and didn't need the AC in June. No complaints - grateful such a beautiful place exists.

Had a room on the top floor in the roof. Amazing views of the mountains in the distance and very spacious. View from breakfast room was also very nice. Selection was quite good. Staff was very accommodating. The exercise equipment was very unique (water wheel) and the sauna under used.

Too much noise from the street

A lot of noise from the street on a Saturday night with people calling out. Went on until around 3.00am. Must be late night bar around. No sleep while that happens. Suggest the hotel should invest in some double glazing and other soundproofing.
Terrible feather pillows with no support Asked to swap for synthetic as the brochure in the room says to. None available during my stay.

However, I thought it was very strange that the front desk couldn't provide a cork screw given that the name of the hotel is the Hotel Swiss WINE. Besides that one small problem, the stay was wonderful and if I am ever back in Lausanne, I would stay again.

Great location, fun vibe.

I liked my stay at this hotel. I got a small room in the \"loft\". The skylight opened up wide to let it nice fresh air. It was a smaller room, but very functional. I did not try out any of the other things the hotel offered, so I can't speak to them. The location was great however. It was right next to a local train station, so getting to the hotel from the central train station with all my luggage was very easy, and going sightseeing was also a snap. It's also a short block to one of the best fondue restaurants in town. The hotel was a little pricey and I can't say it was a good value, but I booked last minute and it was cheaper than most of the other nicer hotels in the area. Staff was nice and helpful.

Wi-Fi with no password, terrible connection.
I had to unplug the fridge, since it is attached to the bed (this must have been an architect.... for sure!).
Kettle with cups in the toilet never seen in my life.

In general the hotel is good, but price is not justified for all these big mistakes.

A nice little hotel with quiet and nicely decorated, modern rooms and nice views. Our room was super clean and had everything you could wish for, including nice toiletries and a well-stocked minibar. The only negatives were that it was really hot in the room and on our second day, our room had still not been cleaned when we returned after a full-day out at about 5pm.

Food there was OK. Service was good. Would recommend as a happy alternative to other expensive options in Lausanne/Geneva. There is an Italian restaurant opposite called De Carlos. Bit on the expensive side but would fully recommend as food was amazing (pasta dishes) and it seemed like the best restaurant in the area. It's right opposite this hotel so very convenient. MS

This renovated hotel is very clean. However I do not recommend to stay here during hot summer nights since there is no air conditioning. Coming from the US, this is not acceptable for me. There is one ceiling fan providing hot air if you have the window closed, but good luck with the noise on the street if you keep windows open. Other than that, the hotel is great.

Had an amazing time. Super easy access to underground metro literally right in front of hotel. Only thing that would have have been helpful to understand was about the street levels. Just found the address on a map not realizing there were multiple street levels. Can't just walk around a block to get there. READ SIGNS AND GO UP THE ELVATORS to proper street level. Will make sense when you see it. Also this part of Switzerland speaks mostly French and Italian. A few words in French especially will make the stay almost perfect!!

Stayed here with my sister and 4 year old daughter and it was very pleasant.

The staff were really friendly and the hotel was a bit more child friendly then a previous hotel we stayed in during our stay in Lausanne.

We received a Lausanne transport card for the duration of our stay and we used it! Our room had a double and single bed with plenty of room, the bathroom had a shower over the bath which we loved and the TV had some English channels, it was nice to be able to watch English tv.

The room wasn't facing the cathedral, it was facing the a busy road so it was a bit noisy at night but it was forgivable because the location of the hotel was great, the metro literally stops outside the front door.

Overall a very nice stay and I would stay here again.

Good city centre hotel, look out for smoke

Nice hotel and great price at the last minute, especially for Lausanne.

Pillow was next to useless, so had to ask for a second but that came quickly and with a smile.

Main complaint was that my floor appeared to be a smoking floor and the smoke smell woke me each night, it was that strong.

Parfait pour un séjour à Lausanne

Hôtel très bien situé à l'entrée de la vieille ville.
Un titre d'accès aux transports en commun vous est remis gratuitement à votre arrivée ce qui facilite les déplacements.
Possibilité de laisser la valise au départ et à l'arrivée pour profiter sereinement de la ville
Hôtel calme et silencieux malgré la rue passante juste en face..

屋根裏部屋に泊まりました。
屋根裏な分少し天井は低いですが、身長が低い私は特に困りませんでした。
それよりも、寝転ぶだけで見える星空や、窓を開けたらローザンヌの街とレマン湖が見えて最高でした😆
とても清潔で過ごしやすいホテルでした。
ローザンヌ大聖堂まで徒歩4分ほどで行けるところもアクセスがよかったです。泊まるとローザンヌ地下鉄の乗り放題券をいただけました。地下鉄の駅が目の前なので移動にも便利です。
注意点は、地下鉄を降りたら、エレベーターで上に上がってください。そうするとすぐにホテルがあります。
