During our stay, there was no hot water, which during the time in between Christmas and New Years made taking a shower very uncomfortable.

Le personnel a été très aimable et accueillant, ce que j’ai beaucoup apprécié. Cependant, j’ai remarqué certaines lacunes au niveau de la propreté, tant dans l’immeuble que dans la chambre, particulièrement dans la salle de bain. Je n’ai aucun souci avec un décor plus ancien ou moins moderne, cela peut même avoir son charme, mais dans ce cas-ci, c’était vraiment un manque d’entretien. Cela dit, le lit était propre et très confortable.

L’emplacement, pour sa part, est excellent : à proximité de très bons restaurants, de boutiques et de plusieurs attractions majeures.

Firstly I would stay here again. Its got a great location, conveniently located, good staff and lovely views of Eiffel Tower and Sacre Couer.
With just a small bit more attention to detail the hotel stay would have improved enormously.
The wardrobe and darker areas of the room were very dusty. The breakfast was wrongly described as a buffet.
We are not difficult to please so I can understand how others could be disappointed with the standard.
The plusses of the hotel outweigh the negatives.

Good location, good staff and that is it

Only good thing about this hotel is it's location , right next to Anver metro station, walking distance to sacre cour bassilica and proximity to several eating places, supermarkets. The folks at reception are quite nice. This is where good things end..very small room. Uncomfortable, probably broken bed. Not many power points inside room to make use of either Room fan or kettle. And yes finally it's pretty expensive, considering the size, comfort and facilities..

The location of this property was perfect—just a short walk to the metro and the shops in Montmartre, and Sacre Couer is just up the hill. The elevator in the hotel is tiny—like 1 person tiny—so avoid if you are claustrophobic. Our room on the 6th floor had a little balcony and we had a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower, which was especially lovely at night. My only complaint was that it was noisy in the mornings—the hotel is an older building so it’s not exactly soundproofed, so the cleaning staff’s work in the halls woke us every morning.

An interesting Experience

The room was very small, the TV was the smallest I have seen. The bathroom was small and shower cubicle was so small that you cannot turn around. I am a small to medium build person and I found it very difficult. The shower head and the connectors were all tarnished but when I complained, they changed it immediately. The lift or the elevator was tiny - could hardly fit one person with a small bag. The building was old and looks worn out and needs urgent maintenance - did not notice any fire detectors in the room . Value for money, the price they charge was too much for the product supplied. If you are coming via Gare Nord, it is always advisable to take a taxi from the station. Otherwise, it is very easy to get lost in the little streets and in the night, it does not look safe. The best thing about the hotel was the reception staff - they were very friendly and helpful. If you are returning back to the main railway station, suggest that you take a taxi as well. The hotel does not provide any drinking water but there are supermarkets and restaurants nearby. When you walk around the nearby streets, it is recommended that you do not carry all your credit cards, money and passport with you. For breakfast, I would recommend the .Pret a Manger near the hotel.

A place to return...

Our stay in this hotel is super wonderful. The hotel is easy to find, very close to a train station, the receptionists at the time we were there were so helpful, the room is clean and the size is very comfortable for a couple. It has elevator. My niece who works in Paris visited us in the morning before we checked out and she was also offered a warm reception with coffee and pastries. We didn't encounter any issue in this hotel. Fast food centers are accessible even late at night. The receptionist at the time we checked out only had a hard time getting a taxi as all taxis were fully booked at that time. We ended up pulling our stuff to the train station, 12 minutes walk anyways.

Very basic, but not bad for a one night stay

I was only here for one night, since my flight was delayed, which caused me to miss my connecting flight back to the US. It's inexpensive, but VERY basic. The rooms could use a little TLC, but it did the job. My room was on the 4th floor, and this hotel has a lift, so that's a definite plus in my book. The bathtub looked like it could use a couple of coats of paint, but the water pressure is good, so that's a plus. I didn't bother turning on theTV, so I can't speak to that, except to say that it'sa small screen. It doesn't bother me at all, but some guests are obsessive about those things. Wifi signal cut out on me a few times, and it happened while I was streaming a movie on my tablet, so just sharing. The bed was pretty hard, and I wasn't expecting that. I was exhausted, and had to be ready to leave by 06:30, so I slept for a few hours on it just fine. Since I left so early, I missed out on breakfast, so I have no idea what that is like. Breakfast starts at 07:30, just so you know.

Overall, I'd recommend this place as a very no frills place, but it's not far from the Eiffel Tower, and it's in the Montmartre district, which I adore. Not far at all from the bus line or the train station, just a fee minutes walk from both. It could be a little cheaper for what you're getting, in my opinion. I saw a chart with their prices listed, so I'm just glad I got a deal through hotels.com.

Good location. Friendly staff. Comfortable clean room, beds, bathroom. Room didn't have a phone though, so we had to go down to the reception each time to ask for anything needed. And a light switch by the bed wasn't working. We told the reception the next morning and this was fixed when we got back to the room that evening. They had said they would put in a phone too but this was not done. Apparently the room did not have the facility for one, so that was an anenjty that was supposed to have been included in our booking that was omitted for us! An otherwise comfortable stay that was somewhat marred by tihis oversight. Would have given this place a higher rating if not for these two things. Great location. Walking distance to Gare du Nord, Basilica de Sacre Coeur, and great restaurants and cafes. Very easy and close access to the metro to access all other attractions- just a three minute walk. Hotel is located in a quiet stree.

Hotel is very close to the train station, about 2 minutes walk. There are a lot of restaurants, shops and groceries nearby. About 5-10 minutes walk to the Sacre-Coeur. The room is very basic, nothing extra, no AC but fan. Fortunately our room is facing the north, there is a cool breeze when we open the window, remember, this is the end of July. It’s hot. It’s hard to sleep during the night since we leave the windows open, it’s very noisy! You can hear people talking on the streets, cars, motorcycles passing by.

You don't even get what you pay for.

We stayed here for three nights. Really just a bed as we were out all day and in later in the evenings. Room is very basic. we had two small twin beds and once again as per Europe the smallest flattest pillows. A small TV which showed only French. Small desk and bathroom. The hot water is non existent and came slowly. The shower head was broken so was a bit difficult to have a decent shower. We stayed on the fifth floor and our room backed onto all the other units so was a bit noisy but I was so tired I didn't care. The hotel is located not far from Sacre -Coeur .There is a lot of tourist shops around and small supermarkets so always plenty to eat everywhere and it's a ten minute walk to the Moulin Rouge. The hop on and hop off bus scoots along the route near hotel so overall it's situated in a good spot, just needs a bit of refurbishing as the money we paid to stay was quite a lot for what we recieved and I know I can't complain cause it's Paris. Still I have stayed in big cities before and got better value for money.

Noisy neighborhood

The hotel offers the bare minimum. The neighborhood was very noisy and we only slept well when we had the window closed. Our first room was more quiet because it was at the back and we asked to be moved to the front where it was more light. Unfortunately it became more noisy. It was however a very good price and the staff was very friendly. They offer a breakfast for 8 euros which is convenient.

We stayed for 2 nights in a triple room at the hotel. The room was tiny - like other budget hotels I've stayed at in Paris - but it was clean and had a 24h reception and a working toilet and shower and that was really all we needed.

We had a room on the first floor, facing the street and there was some noise from cars and waste collectors. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel since there is a great selection of restaurants and cafes in the surrounding streets.

Facing a park where young kids play until the evening. No traffic noise at night. Large window that opens and another opening window in bathroom allowed good cross ventilation. No air conditioning but we didn't miss it in April.
Breakfast (basic but adequate) was another 8 Euro/person.
Clean room. Plain furniture but in good shape. Bed was a little too firm but no sagging or bumps. Very small flat screen TV - but we didn't go to Paris to watch TV!
I would stay there again.

It's a family run hotel was at the time being repainted and will look great when done.
The work being done did not disturb us and the staff were pleasant and helpful.
Only downside, it was very hot weather when we were there so the room was also very hot and with the window open traffic was noisy,

Out of hotel turn right 100m metro, open top tour bus stop which is a hop on hop off anywhere buy two day ticket much cheaper 50 stops round Paris, tourist kiosk English spoken. Montmartre ten mins walk .

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was small but adequate. Liked that it had a bathtub even if it was small. Hotel had a lift which was good. Street was fairly quiet once the playground across the street emptied for the night. Close to La Basilique du Sacré Coeur de Montmartre and the Metro, lots of choice for cafes. Overall pleasant experience and price was reasonable for the location.

The hotel was located close to a Metro Stop, right on the Hop On Hop Off bus stop, so very easy to get around.

The room was clean, the front desk staff was helpful and friendly. I needed to go to a different Metro Stop and the clerk printed out the Google map for me and highlighted the way I needed to go. I needed to add a night to my stay and they did it for me even the web was saying they were sold out and even gave me the rate my booking was at and not the rate that was quoted online.

It is old and shows it, the room was cleaned every day and that is what is important to me. The floors squeek and sometimes, I heard the people above me walking around but not all the time.

I would just say, if you don't sleep well with street noise asked for a room that is not overlooking the street as it can be noisey.

Good hotel for its price, convenient location

I recently stayed at this hotel (2 adults).

While the hotel is not very central, it is a few meters from a metro station - so getting around to all the major sites was very easy (about a 15-25 minute ride to the Eiffle Tower, Louvre, Notre Dam etc.). The hotel is within short walking distance to the Montemarte area and Sacre Coeur. It is also within walking distance to Gare du Nord.

The hotel room was clean (and cleaned daily), but worn out. The hotel room had a very strong cigarette smell. The washroom was also worn out (the shower was not the greatest and if you are tall, you may not be able to sit straight on the toilet). There was also no safe in the room.

Staff were very friendly and helpful in pointing out directions, metro routes and other recommendations.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel because of its price compared to other hotels in Paris and because of its close proximity to a metro station.

I'd you're American expect smaller rooms and older in Europe.This room size for a double bed is about average. Shower was extremely small, about my body size (I'm 6'2\"), therefore difficult. Breakfast included was good. Location is near metro but certainly not the best location. Hotel did have elevator (lift) which I feel is important as to not pull luggage up stairs to 6th for for example. Overall avg, but better locations closer to Champs Elysse' for example can get very expensive.

We loved the neighbourhood. Lots of great restaurants, a nice little bakery and green grocer. The hotel was fine and the staff was very helpful. The only criticism we have, was that it was difficult to get to D'Anvers subway from Gare Du Nord, while dragging around all of our luggage. We had to go to St Lazarre, Pigalle and then D'Anvers.

We chose the hotel based on proximity to Montmartre and the positive reviews it had already. We were not disappointed. Although the accommodation is quite basic, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom new looking and clean with enough towels for the three of us. The room for three people was also spacious enough. The area felt reasonably safe, and a ten minute walk to Gare du Nord. Central, clean, not overly expensive, good breakfast, staff were helpful (storing bags for the day) it was great for a short weekend away.

Good \"base \" for exploring Montmartre.

Good situation in a quiet square by Anvers metro and only 10 mins. walk from Gard du Nord station. 5 mins walk to finicular to Sacre Coeur and old Montmartre. Self-service breakfast (continental with boil- your- own eggs if more required).
The hotel is only 2-star so room was plain but bed very comfortable with bed linen changed.
Bath with shower over and water very hot. Hairdrier and shaver point. Lift.
Good restaurants nearby.
A good \"base\" from which to explore Montmartre's interesting streets,museums, Sacre Coeur etc. with metro to all parts of Paris. (Metro is very easy to use but very few escallators so a lot of steps to climb when changing lines).

I did not enjoy my stay at all. I along with my Fiancé traveled all the way from Washington DC to see Paris. When we got there the first thing we noticed was the cleanliness. The rooms are very old and so were the beds/ comforters. Bathrooms were small with limited water running from the shower. Their were molds along the edges of the rooms. TV was very small with limited Chanels. The phone did not allow you to dial room service. Any questions we had to walk to the front desk to ask. No refrigerator located in the rooms. We could not charge any of our electronics with our universal charger. We didn't see any site of any other guest staying there. This was deff not worth the $500 dollars I paid for 3 nights.

The only positive thing that came out of this hotel was location. We were minutes away from the train station, walking distance from the flee market/ suvaneer shops. The amount paid was clearly for location.

Nice but a bit shabby

The hotel is in a nice location for exploring Montmartre in particular. From the balcony you could see the dome of Sacre Couer. The hotel staff are (mostly) very friendly. Our rooom was small and, frankly, shabby. The bed was comfortable and clean, so that was great. On the other hand, I had to stand on a chair to get the curtains to close, and the shower cubicle doors wouldn't slide.

best kept secret!

Second time I've stayed here - this time with my mother and sister, so in a triple room. Everything was as good as last time - clean & comfortable with friendly staff. You can't beat the location (10mins walk from Gare du Nord, 1min walk from Anvers metro). Chose to have breakfast at Les Oiseux (out of the hotel and turn right) rather than the hotel just to enjoy 'cafe culture'. Last night dinner at La Marmite (out of hotel, turn right, turn left on to main road and walk towards Pigalle) - as before, fabulous food, great service and reasonable prices. Can't wait to return.

Nice location but way to noisy outside

I never gave a bad review for any hotel until now. This hotel is fine for the money but 4 mornings a week at 6AM a sewer service like roto-roter does some type of pipe maintenance just 100 feet and its way to noisy. It stops at 7:15 but the damage is done. I found myself going to bed early as to get enough sleep before the noise. I’m doing this on vacation?? Every night at about 1 to 2 AM a got woken by street loiterers who for some reason hung out in the front of the hotel then moved on. Everything bad about this place was the external noise. There are a lot of hotels just a few blocks away.

Place d'Anvers

Hotel is located just under Sacre Ceur Cathedral on a square d'Anvers. There is a metro stop (Anvers) just 100 meteres from the hotel. Since there is is free Wifi provided by Paris Town Hall at the square (2 hours free access) you can access the network also from your room or you can buy 24 hours pass for 9 Euro from Orange too. Hotel rooms are bit small but clean with reasonable size bathroom (naturally no fancy furniture). Anyway the objective of a 2 star hotel in Paris is to have a good sleep and breakfast so you could walk all day long... and this hotel provides that (easy access to metro or just walk around Mont Martre).

It's location in Montmartre is fantastic, we had a view of the Sacre Couer is you leaned out onto our small balcony, and also the top of the Eiffel Tower. The hotel is clean but very basic, don't expect any surprises with the room, it has a bed and a TV and that's pretty much it. The bathroom is fine, but the (dribbly) shower is very small. The hotel is pretty typical of an age-ing Parisian building, it would have been splendid in it's day but is now tired and in need of redecoration. The hotel does offer a buffet breakfast but we decided to decline in favour of crepes in a local cafe. Overall a great stay, we weren't too disappointed with the hotel, we had a limited budget!

Good value for money

The hotel was pretty much what I was expecting - clean, quiet, comfortable in a good location. Nothing special, no real character, but did the job. Rooms were slightly bigger than I was expecting. Good neighbourhood - touristy, but has everything you need and it's easy to get to all the sites the average person will want to see in Paris. Skip the breakfast and pick up a coffee and pastry at one of the shops or cafes near the hotel.

Like many other hotels in this price range - if you want a bath, bring your own bathplug.

Staff were nice and most spoke at least a couple of languages - polite and helpful.

We would definitely stay there again!

We would highly recommend the Hotel Du Square d Anvers, where we stayed four days in June 2009. We were three adults, having 3 twin beds (the third added in as we arrived), and six suitcases. So obviously it was a little crowded but then again we were there to tour the city and did not intend to spend more time in the room then necessary. Everything was nice and clean, the bathroom/shower/tub roomy and clean too. The staff was friendly and very accommodating, speak a little English too, the breakfast was tasty and very inexpensive. The location is a few steps from a Metro station. We would definitely stay there again!

Good for What we Needed

By US standards this was a 1 star hotel but I can still recommend it because I read the expedia reviews and knew exactly what to expect. True - the room is small, true -the walls are thin, true - the towels were thin and rough, true - the bathroom did have some mildew in the crevices but if you can look beyond it because you will only be sleeping there - then go for it. One thing however, which I was not expecting was to pay 6 Euro for 45 minutes of internet to some third party as the hotel doesn't have their own connection. Goodluck

Bon rapport qualite prix

The room was fairly small, the double bed compact, the noises in the morning from the plumbing rather loud, and the repairs around the shower scruffy. But these are secondary matters. The more important things are that the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the people at the desk were polite, Square D'Anvers is a pleasant corner of Paris, and the hotel is very convenient from the Gare du Nord. Overall, as the French would say, there was a good relationship between quality and price.

Good Value near the center of Paris

This is not the type of best hotel. But the best in terms of value! We searched and many hotels in Paris are much more expensive. This one is located very close to Anvers subway station (walk 1 min) and so very close to Montmarter Church (2nd highest in Paris , next only to Eiffel Tower). Very convenient - a French restaurant next to hotel, shops all nearby, etc.) Pros- 1. good location, close to everything 2. great value, we asked other hotels and all cost more 3. clean room 4. good breakfast at 6 euros 5. the boss is very artistic and help us take some good photos 6. the staff is friendly Cons- 1. you need to leave your key before you leave, so they can clean you room because it is still old style locks and keys. 2. no heating (I was there in late April, still cold, about 4C at night) 3. I think no AC too in summer, which can be very hot in this hotel 4. you need to pay 5 euro for 45 min WiFi Last note: Ask for a room with a balcony facing the park. You can see the Eiffel Tower at 5th Floor room with Balcony !

Hyper bien placé au dessus d un joli square tout près d'une station de métro. Vue tout bonnement magnifique depuis le balcon sur les toits de notre chambre du 6ème étage. Nuits calmes. Ptit déjeuner à tarif très correct. Une adresse à recommander sans hésiter pour visiter Paris.
