The 2-star Altona Hotel is perfect for visitors travelling to Paris in search of value-for-money accommodation. Located within walking distance of the Gare du Nord railway station, the hotel is equally close to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur Basilica.
Owned and managed by two brothers, this family-run hotel greets guests with a friendly and personal welcome, and a mix of turn-of-the-century architecture combined with contemporary accommodation. The simply furnished rooms are equipped with bath/shower, telephone, satellite TV and hairdryer; public areas are limited but do include a small lounge area in reception and a spacious breakfast room where guests can enjoy a typically French continental breakfast.

The only positive aspect was the young man at the check-in desk, who helped us check in smoothly. However, the room was cold, the hotel was very old, and the neighbourhood wasn’t safe either. A few guys tried to open our bags near a grocery store, but the cashier didn’t care at all! The hotel was close to the centre for sightseeing, but breakfast wasn’t included and it didn’t offer much anyway.

6e étage alors que l'ascenseur ne va que jusqu'au 5e et que je suis une personne à mobilité réduite... Porte compliquée (dure à fermer ou à ouvrir la poignée tourne dans le vide). Chambre vraiment petite et surtout entendre les voisins ce n'est pas très agréable. Le petit déjeuné est très limite pour 9€.

A hotel worth trying when your budget is tight.
For a budget priced hotel we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were always pleasant, room serviced every day and a beautiful en suite shower room which looked newly done. The locality with the metro station, patisserie, and several cafes and restaurants very close by more than made up for the unkempt look of the area in some places. A short stroll brings you to MontMartre and the Opera the other way plus Gare du Nord was €11 in an uber. We would definitely use Hotel Altona again.

If you’re staying here it must only be for convenience. The location is average, the rooms are minimal and the price is cheap. The service is terrible, the shower leaks, and you may need to drag your suitcase up some stairs.

it's disappointed that the hotel has no AC during the hot summer month. And no refrigerator in the room for cold drinks as well.

Welcoming staff. Hotel itself was in a central location in Paris but the trade off was that this meant noisy streets outside, especially with our hotel rooms facing the street. We did have fans which helped offset the noise outside, which was helpful. Other people in our group got quieter rooms facing the back courtyard.

I feel like it should be cheaper than it was. The property and rooms are old. Carpets need replacing. Check out was at 11:30am and housekeeping knocked my door and tried to enter 3 times. At 11:20 I told her I was leaving in 10 minutes and she was annoyed. Then the elevator was full of linen so we had to take the stairs. Linens were clean though.

Two couples, four night stay, exploring Paris. Out all day after an excellent breakfast at the hotel. Our two rooms were recently refurbished, clean and perfectly adequate. All staff we came into contact with were friendly, polite and helpful. The hotels price/location were great for us - very easy to get to wherever we wanted to go in Paris. We had a great time.

Had an unexpected layover with a vanvelled flight, and was very happy with my choice. Spacious rooms, full bathroom, hot shower with good pressure, and 12pm checkout. Very clean and warm duvets. Great location, few mins to Gare du Nord and staff were lovely!

I am a room attendant/ housekeeping for 5years in a 4star hotel in the Philippines. And I stayed for two nights in Hotel Altona and it is so amazing. The room is clean , also the bathroom. everything is perfect! And when I plan to visit in Paris again I will definitely make a reservations here in Hotel Altona. :) Overall had a great stay!

The staff at the reception were great. They did everything they could to get me into a room quickly after my long flight. This hotel is no frills but is located perfectly if you’re using the trains. It is easy walking down to the Seine with lots of restaurants and shops . I will stay there again

Good place to stay if catching the Eurostar to London as it is just a short walk from the station. Comfortable and clean and jug with tea,coffee,sugar and milk provided. However the power did go off in the morning just before I was leaving so don’t know what the problem was.But because no power I had to carry my bag down 2 lots of stairs because couldn’t use the lift.

First of all, once I entered the lobby I smelled malodorous from the bathroom. Secondly, I didn't expect to have an (industrial) electric fan in the room (Booking a two-star hotel was my false).
For the goodness: we were allowed to check in one hour early and after checking out we left our luggage at the hotel until 5 pm as we had a flight at 9:30 pm. Also there are a fast restaurant next door and a mini mart store just around the corner. This hotel is quiet at night, and it's close to the the main train station and a metro. Of course, a twin bed room is pretty small as I knew before I booked.
My average room price was $153 per night (not including taxes), $614.29 for four nights. I don't think this is a budget hotel. If you want to visit most of the attraction sites, don't stay in the heart of Paris.

I booked two rooms for family of 6 , hotel management gave two rooms on separate floor and one room washroom was leaking badly , all the water was coming to room making carpet wet When I notify to management first my request was ignored , then notify again after 8 hours it was fixed .

The room was reasonably clean, but there was something - not sure if they were dead bugs or some kind of dirt or substance - on the ceiling, which I only noticed when I lay down to go to sleep.
