Room was clean but no bin in the room. One of the windows was foggy so you could not see through it. Limited storage if staying longer than a few days. Bed was comfortable and quiet - no traffic noise despite being on a relatively main road. Breakfast was good, however, limited choice and small portion. One croissant or one pain au chocolate per couple. Staff were very friendly and helpful - 24 hour service so always someone available if required. Bag storage available after checkout. Great location - metro station right outside and only 15 minute walk from Gare du Nord. Approximately 15/20 minute walk to Sacre Coeur and Montmartre. Moulin Rouge also within walking distance. All other attractions easily accessible via metro/bus/train. We bought a Navigo travel card an just topped up when required. Highly recommend this hotel.

This is our second time staying here in Paris. The last time was about 2 years ago on a family trip. The hotel itself doesnt have alot of amenities but is charming even if a bit on older side but we love it. Both times we had a balcony in which we were able to see the eiffel tower at night and a great view of the city. Its close to Sacre Coeur, lots of shops and little eateries. We took the train/subway to nearby station and maybe walked 3 blocks to hotel so it was convenient to get to. Some of the staff speak english and are very helpful. Theres a nail salon just a couple doors down, and a flea market/farmers market on the weekends. Bedding was simple but adequate. TV in the room is small, but we did not come to Paris to watch TV :-)

It is a great place to stay on budget. Everyone in the hotel was so welcoming and reception team so accommodating and helpful with a couple of help requests we had. For eur 6; breakfast was great!! Great room with a view of Sacre Coeur!
Great location with 3 stations with plenty of connections to all the major touristic landmarks from Paris.

It was lower cost than other hotels in area. Superceeded our expectations. Could look at all the streets from balcony had three big windows. Room was very clean and twin beds were comfortable. We had 3 twin beds in room making it a very spacious room. Would stay there again. Fairly close to Gare Du Nord station and restaurants, souvenier shops.

This was the first time my husband and I had stayed in a 2 star hotel or in Montmartre so was unsure as to what it would be like, but I am pleased to say we were very pleasantly surprised.
We asked for a room with a view and we certainly got that !
We were on the 6th floor which was accessible via stairs or a clean, well maintained 3 person lift.
Yes the double room was small but the bed was comfortable and apart from not having any tea making facilities in the room it was absolutely fine for somewhere to crash after a days sight seeing. The bathroom was also small but had everything we needed. The shower was powerful and hot. We had 3 towels for a 4 days stay, they wasn’t changed during the stay but we survived.
The rooms are not soundproofed so I would recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper ....... which is why I used, hubby was disturbed without earplugs though.
We had doubled doors which opened onto a lovely balcony. These were brilliant for shutting out the busy road below.
The view was absolutely amazing! Our room was directly in front of the Sacre-Coeur ........ it was breathtaking.
The metro is over the road and the Gare du Nord is a 10 minute walk away. This hotel is a perfect no frills stay in a beautiful area and would highly recommend it..

This was a great value wit extremely easy access to trains, busses and the metro. Is is a few blocks from Sacre Coeur with a beautiful view of SC from our hotel room. We could also see the Eiffel Tower at a distance from our room We found a great little restaurant for dinner and several bread and coffee shops close too. The bathroom in our room was remodeled and had all we needed and a few extras like hair dryer. We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again when in Paris.

This hotel had very friendly and helpful staff. Although basic the hotel catered for our families needs and we would certainly stay there again. We had a fantastic view of Sacre couer. The metro was just a few meters walk and shops, aswell as 2 supermarkets were only a couple of minutes walk. We walked to the Louvre and other attractions with no problems taking around 30 minutes.

This is a great budget hotel. This is what you would get using a budget guidebook and finding a hotel in Paris 30 years ago. Note that this is NOT a fancy hotel with a lot of amenities; it is a basic budget option with no frills but is clean and has great views! We booked a room with a double bed and two singles (family of 4, with two small children 1 and 5). Baby cots were available for no charge, but we didn't get one. We only stayed one night and arrived early. They let us leave our bags as our room wasn't quite ready. Reception is 24 hours. There is a small lift which is nice when carrying bags. Our room was quite spacious (not a cramped London-style room) and the bathroom was big too. We were on the second floor and our window opened onto the street, which I suppose was bit noise (I wear earplugs). We had a view of Sacre Coeur from our window; can't beat that! There is a playground fro kids right next to the hotel and a metro stop convenient as well. We left at 645am for the airport and easily flagged down a taxi on the steet. I would stay here again, it is a good budget base for touring Paris. No kettle or coffee-makers in rooms. Breakfast is available for a fee, but we didn't buy it.

The hotel is walking distance from Sacrecour and metro where you can connect to everywhere. Nice neighborhoods if you stroll around. The rooms are small but they keep it clean.

Cons: the rooms don't have A/C nor fans. It is really hot during the summer and it is impossible to sleep! If you're traveling with children, stay away.

Morning staff are friendly (they helped with a fan for my room), night staff are less friendly.

Overall, I was not comfortable during my stay, I would not recommend.

I have stayed at Avenir before. I love it. Super friendly staff & an excellent location. I asked for a top floor room with a view & the hotel obliged....the view of Sacre Coeur was absolutely stunning & we had a cute little balcony with a chair. Double glazed windows cut out all street noise. There was very little noise from within the hotel either. It is easy walking distance from Gare du Nord & a couple of minutes walk to the heart of Montmartre. You can walk to the main shopping streets too. Lots of shops, eateries, bars &, despite being quite near Barbes Rochechouart, it is not a seedy area at all, we felt completely safe & comfortable. Our twin room was warm & clean, the beds were comfy and our bathroom looked to have been recently updated & with a very nice hot shower. Towels & bedding were good. This is a typical Parisian hotel, no frills but decent, safe, excellent value accommodation. We did not have breakfast in the hotel, got up too late... but there are loads of cafes around. Special mention goes to the reception and cleaning staff..all were friendly, smiling and welcoming..extra thanks to the lovely lady for chilling our Prosecco in the fridge!! We will stay here again when we visit Paris.

My wife and I were traveling with our 4 months old. We wanted to leave as soon as we saw the room. The floor carpet and walls were dark red color with stain spots. The bed sheets felt especially gross. The manager was mean and aggressive. He refused to let us cancel the booking and tried to sell us a more expensive room. It was 8pm and raining outside but there was no way we would stay there. He ended up drove around in our rental and found another place. I probably won't use this website again but want to warn people DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. This place had the accents of a cheap brothel, please stay away.

Kind staff, convenient location

The hotel was in a convenient location between two metro stations, meaning all big tourist attractions were easy to get to. Saw previous reviews mention about rude staff, we did not encounter any at all, the lady that checked us in and was on reception a lot (I didn't catch her name) was lovely and kind. Generally the room was clean, and the maid service was good, the hotel was slightly outdated, and could do with a slight modernisation in terms of decoration - this didn't bother us in any way, just would be nice to have a simpler colour scheme. the walls are quite thin, meaning you can hear every flush of a toilet within the hotel, so maybe not the best hotel for any light sleepers. We personally got used to the noises after the first night. Overall would stay again, especially for such a good price, and was good enough for us (a group of four quiet 20 year olds).

This hotel was amazing. Clean, confortable and an amazing shower! There were two staffs: one younger (day time) and a older one (night time). The younger one should learn more about customer service with the older one.

We were able to leave our luggages in the reception before the check in; the beds were comfortable; the room was a good size; the bathroom was excellent. I would come back for sure!

The hotel is literally right next door to a hostel and I would bet money that they are owned by the same person - they seem to have a similar feel.

The hotel Avenir Montmartre is not spectacular, it's outdated and extremely basic. However, the room we had was extremely clean and not small by Paris standards. The price is low, which allows more money to spend on vacation, and the hotel is just across the street from the Anvers metro. You can walk to the Sacre Couer in minutes so the location couldn't be better if you're looking for something that's not on the Seine.

One word of caution. There is NO AIR CONDITIONING. Our room was facing the street and we had to choose between being hot or hearing a LOT of noise.

Overall, if your priority is savings, this is a solid choice, but don't expect the Ritz. If your priority is luxury, you probably haven't gotten this far, but if so - steer clear.

I thought the Avenir Hotel in Montmartre was a very good value for the price. It is safe, clean and the staff are all very friendly, helpful and kind. The building is historic with a balcony for many rooms and a view of the beautiful Sacre Coeur on top of Montmartre. The breakfast is good, basic and great value, as well as convenient. The desk staff members, as well as the cleaning and kitchen staff, are so friendly and helpful. This is a good place for families, students and those who want to see Paris on a budget. The metro stop is just outside the hotel, and there are also many restaurants, shops and places to see and walk to in the evening after a day or touring Paris. The Arc de Triomphe is close, at just a few metro stops away, and all areas of the city are easily accessible through the metro from Montmartre.

The hotel is not fancy or \"high-end\" but is like a pensione and a European style hotel. The rooms and adjacent bath are very clean, and are meticulously cleaned each day. A great place to stay, even for a week. This is great hotel for students, families, and vacation travelers. It is not really set up to be a business hotel it seemed but the wi-fi is free and works really well on a daily basis.

3. I paid extra for a room with high floor, with bigger size and with balcony and in return i got nothing of this and a very dirty one and when we returned back to the reception they said this is what we have

Pleasant get-what-you-pay-for hotel near Montmartr

I had been looking for a budget hotel near the Montmartre area for a one night stay and found this one. Though I'd read both good and bad reviews about it, my stay was pleasant enough. It's definitely a 'get-what-you-pay-for' hotel but it was in a convenient location, clean, there was hot water whenever I needed it and there was an elevator (though a very small one). The staff was welcoming and pleasant enough with a gentlemen named Rachit particularly friendly. I would consider staying here again if it was just for a brief one or two night stay. The room I was in was very basic but it did have a window over Blvd Rochechouart (which is a fairly busy street but the noise didn't affect me getting good night's sleep) and I could just see the top of the famous Sacre Coeur from my room which was a nice surprise. If you're just looking for something cheap and cheerful - this hotel would be fine. No minibar, no safe (at least I don't recall one) but there was a TV and a phone and the shower was quite a decent one (for France!).

Great hotel in the theater district of Paris

We had a fabulous view of Sacre Coure from our window and balcony. The breakfast every morning was great and the staff was very helpful. Free wi-fi was an added bonus. There was no air conditioning, but the cross breeze made sleeping comfortable. There is a metro stop right by the hotel; a big reason we chose it. Lots of cafes nearby and Sacre Coure was a short walk away. There was even a McDonalds nearby.

If you are looking for a really budget stay and with a good location, this will be it. The Anvers metro station is just across the street and a few minutes walk.

There are also lots of cafes/ restaurants and even a Carrefour down the street.

Sacre Coeur is also within walking distance.

The neighborhood is generally safe with a few similar budget type hotels around it as well.

I was given a room on the 2nd floor which faces the street side and with no air conditioner, I have to leave the windows open; definitely not for the average sleeper. Just imagine the noise from the traffic and people talking.

I can't imagine staying in the room during the hot summer days and definitely not on the low floors.

No frills hotel in the middle of Montmartre

There's nothing fancy about the Avenir Hotel Montmartre but if you're looking for a hotel with a great location with no frills and a reasonable price, this is it. It's in the heart of the Montmartre area, just steps away from the Metro system, a quick walk from Sacré-Cœur and the Moulin Rouge and it has great night life activities.

The staff checking me in was very helpful and the bed was comfortable. However, there was NO hot water at all in the morning. I told the morning staff who was not at all apologetic or helpful. I tried for two hours but finally gave up on having a shower.

Great Value

This was a great hotel in a great location. It is clean but very dated. Couldn't find the remote so we used the chair to reach the buttons (didn't find it urgent enough to ask about it). The bathroom was tiny, the bedroom was tiny but overall the rooms was comfortable. I think breakfast was 6 euros which is a great deal but we decided to eat at the nearby bakeries. We had a great view of Sacre Coeur right out of our window. I would stay here again.

Good value for money

The hostel is in a nice place, within short walking distance from sacre coeur and picturesque Montmartre. It's also on the main street so it feels safe to come back even late. The rooms are not the newest or prettiest but very clean (cleaned every day) and quite comfortable. I lowered my overall rating because for two evenings there was no hot water in the shower but it always came back in the morning so it was not much of a problem.

Next to Metro Station but Screams for Maintenance

Yes, it's a budget hotel with a great location - right next to (about 50 feet) the Anvers Metro Station. That was great. Sacre Couer is about 100-150 yards. There are restaurants and sandwich shops nearby. Good location, and reasonable price.

I knew that the room would be small, but it was smaller than what I could think of. The standing shower is 4 ft by 4 ft, and next to it there is a toilet and a sink in about the same area which is so tight that the trash can (dust bin) in the bathroom leaves no space for one of the legs while sitting on the toilet. The hotel is screaming for maintenance. I was at the sixth floor and the common area carpet was dirty; lots of stains and watermarks. As I got to my floor in the evening, there was no light and I had to use my cell phone's light to use key to open my door. I later found out that they had light switches on timer, and the light turns off in two minutes. The lights are controlle by time, not by motion sensor. Lots of places in the room too need painting.

Disappointing

The location was great, just about a minute walk to the metro station. However, the room was very small. The lift is too tiny, it can only carry 3 persons and it felt suffocating inside it. The receptionists were not helpful and accommodating.

Great position, good area but rude staff.

The hotel is in a great location, metres from the metro station, we had an amazing view of the Sacre Couer, and the shower was amazing......but the night staff really let it down. They want you to leave the key at reception, which I believe is a good idea, but we returned after a very long day, stood behind a man starting to check in, and waited a few moments to ask for my key. After the deskman had gone thru the initial questions for checkin, and had asked the man for his passport, I politely excused myself and asked for my key, when I was very rudely told that I was interrupting the man and I should wait. The retrieval of my key required the clerk to spin his chair and select my number, a task that took no more than 10 seconds. To be expected to wait til after a checkin for my key is ridiculous, and to be told off so rudely was outrageous. That same night after we returned from a show, my daughter and I were talking, just talking, it was 12.30am, but it is a small room and we were no more that 2 metres apart. We got a knock on the door and told we were making too much noise??????WHAT??? So if you don't mind rude staff and apparently paper thin walls, it was a good place. I guess it is France.

Ehhh it was ok

Tiny rooms, bathroom was falling apart with shower glass broken, vanity cracked. Toilet room so small you had to go with the door open or your knees your ears. Bed was comfy though, the Panoramic room did have lovely views of the basilica and Eiffel tower. Bit of a dodgy area and 25 min walk down to tourist area. But only five mins up to montemart, and the trains are only 1 min away. Staff spoke english and were pretty friendly. WiFi did not work anywhere in the hotel, at all. We slept Well Every night.

My GF and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in mid September 2014 : very good value for the money and amazing location with spectacular view of Sacre Coeur. The front desk staff were extremely helpful for all our requests : Blonde Lady during the day , very funny Indian fellow during evening and the French fellow with the moustache at night

Close to train station

The hotel was close to the train stations and in a really busy neighborhood. If you leave the hotel, you must leave your key at the reception. I feel like anyone can ask for the key though because they didn't ask for any identification when if asked for the key back. The room was cozy but we found garbage on the desk when we came into the room. We've met three receptions and one of them was much nicer than the others. Overall, the hotel has all the basic services needed but don't expect anything more.

Exactly as we expected. Thank you Hotels.com!

This is a 2 star hotel and is described perfectly by Hotels.com, so we knew exactly what to expect. We squished 5 people in a tiny room with 1 double bed, where my husband slept with our younger boys (9 & 10) and my 14 year old and I each had a single bed. The decor, bathroom was dated, but very clean. The cleaning service was great (we left them 2.50-3 Euros each morning and I think they appreciated that). We opted not to do breakfast as we had read that it wasn't fabulous and it was easier to just go grab something as there are tons of surrounding bakeries and cafes. In fact, when you turn right out of the hotel and walk to Rue Rochechouart, and take a left, there's a Leader Price grocery store (and a McD) where you can get all kinds of inexpensive things for a quick bfast and lunch! The location was ULTIMATE! It is steps from the metro and minutes to the base of Sacre Coeur. The only thing is.....we had a cooler summer which allowed us to close our window at night as the street noise goes on all night long. There is no air conditioning or ceiling fan, so if it had been hot, I wouldn't have slept a wink. The overall price is worth it!

very loud location and lousy service

less than satisfied with the service and the price. The location was convenient next to public transport, however was very loud until after 3 in the morning. the hotel is very outdated and the front desk staff was less than welcoming or helpful. I would suggest finding a better value for your money.

Good value hotel in convenient location.

We only stayed one night but it was very comfortable and clean. We had a very big room with a view of the Sacre Coeur. The staff were not extremely friendly but were fine and professional. The only downside was the thin walls as we had some very noisy neighbours who arrived late at night.

Great views

Our corner room had wonderful views of Sacre Coeur and the Eiffel Tower and is extremely close to Anvers metro stop. However the whole hotel is very tired and the rooms very basic. There is heating but no air conditioning in the rooms if you wanted to stay in Summer.

Good location, decent hotel

Wonderful location as it is right outside of a metro stop! Therefore it is easy to go to and from hotel. The rooms need a lot of updating... Our bathroom door would not close at all. The price was a little too high for the condition the hotel was in, but overall a good place to stay if you're budget conscious.

Very nice position, room dimension acceptable, incredible wiew from the room window.
But room not clean, with hairs on the blankets, one of the worst bathroom I've ever been. But they were restructuring the room next to mine so maybe few changements expected
