Great location, within easy walk from the train station. Check-in was quick and efficient. If you arrive early, you can leave your luggage while go you explore Bern's beautiful old town. The rooms are on the small side, but the beds are comfortable. There's a portable fan that you can set in the window to bring in much needed fresh air. Our rooms faced away from the busy traffic on the street, so it was quiet and allowed us to sleep with the window wide open. Breakfast is CHF 15 and excellent. Check-out was simple and accurate.

Money better spent elsewhere

The room was SMALL. We were bumping into furniture all the time just moving around. I paid for a balcony room, which looked out on a bunch of machinery in between a bunch of buildings. In addition to being a horrible view, there was only one chair out there, so we never used it. The breakfast was extra and not cheap, so we skipped it and the worst thing was that the wi-fi was only good for up to three devices. I've NEVER seen that before. The one positive thing was a good location for proximity to the train and city tram stations.

The hotel is right next to the train station, and a block away from old town. So you have great access to travel options, shopping, and attractions. The room was fairly clean. They missed a spot with crumb on the desk. But everything else was clean. The room did get warm in June, they did have movable fans to make it more comfortable, but it did still stay warm. Staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was mostly breads, cereal, boiled eggs, cold cuts, fruit, and yogurt. Expensive for what is was, however Switzerland itself is expensive, so you have to keep that in mind as a full breakfast would cost a lot more than what we paid. And for the convenience for early day trips with kids, we thought it kicked off the day well. Think of this hotel as not luxury, but a utilitarian option with a great location, relatively clean, with a nice staff.

This hotel is in a great location for the station .
It also suited us because one of our key chosen activities in Bern was floating / swimming in the river Aare. There is a free lido resort style space that is only a 10 minute walk down hill . I understand it’s only open from June to mid September. The open air pool ‘s are totally free and you can gain access to float down the river . We spent the most of our 2 .5 days stay in the lido.

One of the reasons for picking this Hotel was it mentioned that you could use the partner Hotel called the Ambassador for their pool. Due to the local outdoor facilities available close by we didn’t need to use this. If you did apparently you ask Reception to call ahead . Useful to know if travelling in non summer months.

The hotel itself is very run down , it feels like a 3 star in terms of decor . Dated carpet ,old fashioned painted white walls . Our bedroom was so narrow you could not walk around the bed without turning our body side ways .- literally less than 50 cms . We stayed in room 306 . Other room of the same category are not the same they are larger. Our sons stayed in room on 2 nd floor and much more space .

Also useful to know that you get free use of the bus in the city of Bern included with your room rate. You need to process a code on your check in information. This is applicable to any hotel you staying in because the tourist tax we have found the ins Switzerland they haven’t always been forthcoming and telling thi

I was very disappointed with this hotel. It was recommended to me by a friend who stayed here last year so this is why we booked this place. The bed was so uncomfortable and the pillows so flat. We had the worst back and neck pain. Never again will I return to this place.

This is a wonderful hotel. We highly recommend it. The location is perfect—across the street from the train station, and near the national government buildings and the historic part of the city. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. The windows could be easily opened for fresh air or closed for completely blocking any occasional noise outside.

The hotel is just in front of the train station, which is good. However, nothing else was good about it. It is more like a cheap hostel with hotel prices. Very old building (but not the charming type), old furniture and carpets... I wouldnt stay there again, its probably best to pay an extra 20 or 30 chf per night and stay at another hotel.

I picked this location due to the close proximity to the train station. That part was great. It never occured to me to ask if the rooms had air conditioning. This one did not. The only way to cool the room down was to open the window. The street noise was so loud that we couldn't sleep, and the noise continued well past midnight.
We also like ice in any soft drinks we have and the hotel had none. I asked the front desk if he could check the restaurant and was given a bit of an attitude.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, but I won't stay there again.

This hotel sits on a busy street across from the train station. Because the property does not have air conditioning, we had to make a choice: try to sleep with a lot of noise (which didn’t ever stop-even late in the night) or try to sleep in a hot room. I honestly would not recommend this hotel because of that issue. The hotel was also extremely outdated. It’s time for the owners to put a little bit of money into the place (start with new mattresses and faucets for the sinks).

The hotel itself was pretty basic. The rooms were clean but the carpet had several stain marks. Not all of the lights were functioning so it was a bit dark. There is no parking so we had to park a few blocks away. The location is right next to a major train station and in the heart of the city with all major sites within walking distance.

The staff was amazing. They were very friendly and professional. They seemed to speak multiple languages (including English which was very helpful to us). When they found out it was our first time visiting the city, they gave us tips and a suggestions on where to go, which made our trip go extra smooth and easy.

Location . Right in the heart of town . Bad place to park with your suutcases though as you can't . Parking is at the main railway station or 10 minute jog down the main street to a Parkhaus . Breakfast was good ,Continental for 16 swiss francs . If you buy a coffee for 5 fr then it's not expensive at all .for Swiss prices as there's nothing cheap here . Beds could do with replacing very old ,mine felt like I was slipping down .The Hotel is old but it serves it's purpose

Great location. Front desk very friendly and helpful.
Our room was good except a bit narrow in width, there's barely enough room for one to get through between the the end of the bed and the wall and you often bang your watch or your hand against the wall passing by.
We were lucky to get a room with 2 big windows and facing the back yard, but some of our friends weren't, they had either room with a very small window on the side, or facing a huge exhaust pipe on the first floor.
However we also liked the layout of the bathroom.

Found the bed sheets white and very clean. However, there is a spiral staircase outside the window of our hotel rooms which, according to the hotel staff, is an exit facility in case of fire. Since the hotel provides no air conditioning, we had to keep the windows open during night time but the staircase made us feel unsafe and uncomfortable.

Great Option for Visiting and Touring

The location is right across the square from the central train station in Bern, a quiet city so that location is ideal. The room faced the square and was quiet as well. The hotel is very clean and the room meets all of your needs, including in-room coffee, comfortable beds, and a large bathroom. If you are visiting family, as we were, they provide free public transportation day passes - a bonus. You are one gate away from the historic peninsula so it is an ideal location for tourists, too.

The unbelievable living condition of this hotel.
I checked into room 106. When i went to take a shower. It was only hot water running out of the one way working (clockwise) water tap. I was almost freeze to death. The night duty staff personally checked the situation and changed our room to 103. However, room 103 actually was a storage room which was unsuitable for any hotel guests. But the computer system told another story.

The night duty staff then kindly reallocated us to room 104 but the refrigerator door was found fell to the floor. It was then that we were finally sent to room 104.

I am wondering how a three star rating hotel of Switzerland can be so carelessly managed. It took several room changing before guests could be settled for the night. I strongly believe that the management own me an explanation.

This hotel has an exceptionally good location in the old city with tons of restaurants and shopping all around. I had a single room and there were two small disappointments. There was no teakettle, tea, or cup. I got the teakettle but had to argue my way out of paying a 20CF deposit for a very small teakettle. The very nice clerk explained that they are often stolen and relented when I got pretty huffy. Never have I been asked for a deposit for a teakettle at all, much less a really small cheap one! The other small disappointment was the bed was affixed to the wall in such as way as to make no headboard, so you couldn't sit up in bed and read. It was like a bench hanging longways off the wall. I thought the breakfast was good, and there is a coffee machine, so you can have as much coffee as you want, serve yourself. The yogurt was wonderful---I love Swiss dairy products.

Convenient, clean, friendly but showing its age

The hotel is an older building with some updates, but could use some newer upgrades. The furniture was showing signs of wear and the walls allowed sounds from the hallway and adjoining rooms into the room. The only other negative comment is that a bag room is provided if needed, but it is not locked and it is accessible through the lobby to anyone. On the plus side, all of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and everything was spotlessly clean. If you are traveling by train, it is only one block from the central train station.
