I booked this hotel because they state they have available parking. They don't!!! \"Available parking\" is a street parking which one must search in streets around the hotel.
After a long working day, I spent half an hour looking for an available parking space and, after I didn't find it, I had to park in a garage 1km away and carry my baggage to the hotel.
I wanted to cancel the hotel, but they did not accept cancelation.

This is completely unacceptable, and I will make a complaint about it on expedia!

We liked the location of the hotel. it was easy to walk to transportation and to different parts of the city. We had a room under the eaves that had skylights for light and ventilation. Really appreciated the fresh air they brought to the room. We could have used better lighting in the room for evening.

Positive:
- Was greeted warmly when I arrived, and was helped with the two things I required: recommendation for a restaurant, and to borrow a travel adaptor.
- Breakfast was delicious, great selection (inc. homemade jam - lovely touch), and was offered a freshly made smoothie and my table
- Room was spacious and clean, powerful shower
Negatives:
- Actual quality of sleep was limited due to: temperature of room (was too warm, so had to work out how to use the plug in fan in the middle of the night, which didn't do as the buttons said it would!), could hear upstairs stomping around (was staying in the second building) which kept me up, and I was uncomfortable with the weight of pillows (I later found a pillow menu in the room, but by this point it was too late as reception closed at 10pm - maybe this can be reminded of at check in?)

Modern, welcoming in a good location but peaceful.

Excellent location near the town centre but on a quiet side street so nice and quiet. Spacious and modern with excellent service (e.g. they have 4 different sorts of pillows) matched only by there impressive breakfasts (smoked salmon, local produce and homemade jams, etc.). Able to make good use of the free travel card with the public transport available just around the corner (literally). Would stay again.

Great check in and helpful staff. Awesome breakfast with eggs , bacon, lots of bread muffins cereAl, cheese , coffee. Location was about 10 min walk from center bit they give a bus pass which was very convenient if you don’t want to walk. Bed was not comfortable but the rest of the stay was fantastic.

Loved the location. Right by public transportation but quiet at the same time. 10 mins walk to center & railway station. Room is small but good enough. There are no ACs in Bern but open window & fan were good enough.

Only issue is theres an apartment complex across rooms in the back & there was a rowdy young bunch that would make a lot of noise all DAY till 1-2 am. You can hear them talking in the whole complex. Unusual for Switzerland. Somehow the hotel is connected to this complex. People come and go through the hotel.

Ok hotel, don’t get booked on the top floor

The good: staff we’re very helpful and very nice! The breakfast was good. The bad: the beds were not comfortable, our family of four were booked on the top floor we had no windows only skilights. When we took a shower, water was coming out through the bathroom door rolling down to almost the main entrance door of the room. We stayed on the 5th floor, but the elevator only goes to the 4th floor so we had to take 3 large suitcases up the stairs. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Booked the hotel for a work thing, just one night. Convenient location. Room was mostly quite clean, however there were cobwebs in the corners and a spider in one corner. The rooms was nice other than that. Very thin walls/floors so could here other hotel guests very well. Breakfast was good. Over all a okay place to sleep, but nothing special. Maybe not so good for light sleepers.

Pleasant but basic hotel near central Bern

Good location in university district. Only 10 minutes walk or quick bus ride from city centre. Local transportation is fantastic and you get a free travel pass for the duration of your stay. Pleasant and helpful reception staff who recommended restaurants. Wi-fi works well. Fair choice of wholesome and tasty food at breakfast. Rooms need some refurbishment. Our shower door was broken. Rather thin towels.Loved the little rubber duck that you can take home. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Good basic hotel. Near local Bern & train station. Bus pass given at beginning of stay for duration of stay. Problem was very high temps so room extrememly hot. No air conditioning due to weather unusual. Unfortunately only one window so couldn't create cross ventilation to cool things down. Staff VERY helpful.

Small hotel conveniently located in a quiet area within walking distance of the Hauptbanhoff. Staff are friendly and helpful and rooms are quite spacious. A number of good restaurants are located within a brief walking distance from the hotel. Hotel provided a bus pass but we did not use it as we were easily able to walk to all of the places and sights that we wanted to see.

It was hot and tere was no air conditioning. Our hotel room was located with the window which open to the street so we did not want to sleep with the window open since anyone could just come into our room at nught from the street. The hotel room was hot but the hotel staff kindly provided us with a fan. The hotel staff are nice and the breakfast is good. The hotel location is very close to the 12 tram stop (3 stops from the bern train station). Good location.

The hotel itself was great and very well maintained. The hotel staff was courteous, helpful and very acoomodating! The free breakfast was good with with a fair amount of options. Be aware there is NO designated parking for the hotel, so you have to pay €17 a day (through the hotel) to hopefully find a spot nearby. The second night we were there the closest spot we found was about 1km away from the hotel.

The absolute worst thing about the hotel is the location! It is NOT a quiet neighborhood like other reviews suggest. The first night we stayed, there was a party going on right across the street. They played loud music until around 2am and were not nice when we asked them to turn it down. It was very warm that evening and with no a/c, it was either leave the windows open and listen to their party or shut the windows and burn up in the room. No party the second evening, but the street noise and cars were still very disturbing.

There is a WONDERFUL ice cream place just to the left of the hotel when you walk out. We visited it twice during our stay!

Economic boutique hotel in convenient location

10 minute walk to train station, 15 minutes to old section of Bern. Migros grocery 2 blocks away with many prepared food options if you choose to eat in. Many restaurants in the area. The room was good sized for European standards. Beds were comfortable with quality linens. Breakfast was quite good; nice selection of meats, cheeses, breads, yogurts. Scrambled and boiled eggs available. Fruit would have been nice. Coffee was great. Traffic noise can be quite loud, so request a room facing the courtyard if possible. Rooms are not air conditioned, so if you are visiting Bern in the summer, you might want to keep this in mind.

We had a hard time finding it. Arriving at night, their sign doesn't emphasize the Arabelle, but some other name with a big \"S\" (Sorell maybe?). The hotel has a porn theater as a neighbor. The room was clean. The bathroom had a sliding opaque glass door that was not oiled. It made a loud grinding noise when you pulled it open (it did not \"slide\"). The opaque glass meant that every time you use the bathroom at night, the light from the room is going to illuminate the room.

Very convenient location - this is the third time I've stayed but the first time I was told I can have a free bus pass for the city tax that is automatically paid. It would have been helpful to have known that the last times!

Please give a mug in the room instead of a cup!
There are lots of giveaways in the room and I would rather have a cheaper price thank so many take away items.

The Arabelle Hotel caters to a somewhat younger crowd. It is a short walk from Berne's main railway station, located near the university, and has two bus lines, one that takes you directly into the old town and out to the Paul Klee museum. The rooms are furnished in a modern style and are spotless and quiet. The breakfast is ample - cold cuts, chesse, hard-boiled eggs, yoghurt, and bread or rolls with butter and jam. I would highly recommend this hotel for business travelers, tourists, or families, both for its convenient location and its good value.

Okay, budget hotel.

This is really a budget hotel. No bells and whistles. If you just need a place to lay your head for a few days, it's okay. It is extremely close to public transit...just a minute's walk to the bus stop. You could also walk to main station in 10 minutes. Staff were pleasant. It has NO AIR CONDITIONING...so if outside is warm, it can be uncomfortable in the room. Generally okay to get you through a few days.

A bit out of the way

We only stayed here one night and it was ok. We were located in a building separate from the reception and had to cross a couryard to get to it. Reception was less than enthusiastic. Breakfast was good. Getting internet wasn't as easy to log into compared to other hotels we've stayed in. Unfortunately didn't have enough time to explore the neighbourhood but did go to a nearby (1km away) museum.

I understood by the confirmation that I was paid in full. They demanded that I pay 5.60 Francs when departing for city taxes, which I then paid. I gave them the confirmation sheet which they made a copy. Actually when I first came in, they wanted another $280 and said I only paid for one day. She then said she would talk to the manager the next day about it. Rather discouraging to walk into this situation. Any comment???

Heat wave didn't help

I thought the room was very small and unfortunately Bern was in the middle of a thunderstorm on a very hot day and the room had no air conditioning or fan. Opening the only window onto a courtyard backed onto by all the neighbouring residential properties made not a difference to the temperature in the room but did allow in a lot of noise and a stray mosquito. I know that bern is not usually that hot but perhaps the time has come for the hotel to look at air conditioning.

This is an acceptable hotel for a business traveller on a budget. The hotel is well located and close to public transport links. The bed in my room was a single bed and was not very comfortable so I did not sleep as well as I would have liked. Shower facility was quite good.
The breakfast was basic but good quality and acceptable. Staff were pleasant. No free WiFi - Swisscom payment options seemed to be very expensive.

Every morning on my short stay there was a loud banging noise from somewhere in the hotel about 6am.

Convenient location near the university, a 10-15 minute walk from the train station, and 15-20 min. to the city center. Clean, modern room but very small. Reception desk is not manned 24 hours. I used the buzzer to gain access to the hotel the first time and checked-in myself. Worked for me. Included breakfast is offered until late with a good selection. Wireless internet access is fast, through a swisscom hotspot, but must be paid separately. A computer is available near the reception and seems rarely used.

Decent hotel in expensive city. Room is clean but small. Lobby had public Internet PC, no Wifi. I checked in on Sunday evening, no front desk staff, keys left in the lobby. The picture and Google street view make this hotel look a little run down, or in a bad neighborhood. NOT TRUE. I don't know how it only has 2 stars, this place was great. Within walking distance of the main train station, an excellent bakery next door, and at least 3 restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Only negative is the rooms are a little small, but standard for Europe and you shouldn't be spending much time in them anyway as the city is nice to see.

Felt a bit more like a hostel

Reasonable price, spacious, clean and friendly front desk service. The tile floor makes the room a bit cold and the set up was a little short on privacy. I was on the first floor, and could hear anyone in the courtyard and whoever was playing loud music in another room facing into the courtyard. I also felt like they could look in, so I kept my curtains shut the whole time.

Decent Hotel in Bern

I stayed three nights at the Hotel Arabelle in Bern. It was fairly easy to get to from the main train station -- about a three minute bus ride. For Bern, it was a cheap hotel, which I thought was reasonable for the accommodations.

The staff was very friendly and spoke fluent-enough English to complete the transaction. My room (a single) was cozy but aging. The shower was extremely small by American standards, but the water pressure was amazing and there was plenty of hot water. If you don't want to pay for wireless access (I think 5 CHF for 30 minutes and 15 CHF for 3 hours), you can use the guest computer near the front desk - just make sure you log out after you're done to wipe your data.

The free breakfast was plentiful and pretty good - fruit, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, bread, cereal, cheese and coffee/espresso. I made sure to stock up for the rest of the day - food in Bern is relatively expensive (cheaper if you take food to go).

Overall, I thought it was a decent hotel to stay in for a traveler aiming to spend more time in the city than in the hotel. I would stay there again.

An Absolute delight staying here

The location is extremely convenient, with a bus stop less than 30 meters away and the main train station just 2 stops away. Restaurants and a supermarket close by. Hotel staff is very friendly and will do everything possible to make your stay comfortable. Rooms are clean and all amenities available. Overall, a wonderful experience, would certainly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Noisey Bells near Arabelle

Our September stay was poorly timed---the exterior was undergoing renovations. At 0730h daily workmen were on staging outside our window. Also the first room we were given had no door on the bathroom. Loud churchbells rang hourly thru the night and were annoying at best. Location and breakfasts were very good.

We stayed for three nights and overall it was OK if you are on a budget. There is still construction going on and the workers started at 7:00 am. The walk to and from the train station is about 20 minutes but if you want to walk to save money on a taxi, it can be done. The staff was helpful and they all spoke English.

Pela descrição eu achava que o hotel ficava mais próximo da estação de trem, quando chegamos andamos com malas em torno de 20min para chegar, mas depois que entendemos mais a logística começamos a pegar o ônibus que passa a cada 4min e nos deixa em frente à estação (distância do hotel para o ponto de ônibus da no máximo 2min), e aí ficou ótimo. Na rua tem cafeteria e supermercado (o que é ótimo para economizar na Suíça), além de uma sorveteria deliciosa. O café da manhã é bem gostoso e servem a partir das 6:30h, o que ajuda bastante quando temos que sair cedo para fazer passeio. O quarto não tem ar condicionado, achei bem estranho isso, pedimos para mudar de quarto, mas disseram que todos são assim, porém colocaram em nosso quarto dois aparelhos de ar condicionado portátil, o que deu pra refrescar e deixar a noite mais agradável. Pedimos também mais travesseiro (só tinha um por pessoa) e prontamente nos atenderam. A cama é bem baixa, porém confortável. Não tem recepção 24h, se eu não me engano tem funcionário até as 17h e depois é virtual. No geral, achei um bom hotel, funcionários super educados, voltaria a me hospedar .

Keine hoteleigenen Parkplätze und öffentliche gibt es keine freien (auch nach langer Suchfahrt keine freien gefunden) - das Migros Parkhaus in der Nähe hat horrende Preise. Das Bahnhof Parkhaus war die \"Rettung\" - CHF39 pro 24h - 15-20 Minuten zu Fuss.

Das Hotel ist schön und gemütlich, leider war das Personal total unfreundlich und überhaupt nicht hilfsbereit. Verstehe nicht, weshalb man keinen \" normalen\" Check- in machen kann. Digital hat auch nicht funktioniert, auch hatte ich deshalb kein Bern Ticket ( weil natürlich die App auch nicht funktioniert hat...)
Auch sonst gab es keine Infos, kein Willkommen , kein, wie war ihr Aufenthalt, rein gar nichts.

Bon hôtel près de la gare

Le séjour correspond à mes attentes. La chambre est un peu petite mais confortable. Le petit déjeuner est inclus et assez riche.
Seul point négatif : réception complètement inoccupée lors de l'arrivée.

Leider musste ich einen offenen städlichen Parkplatz suchen, nicht so nah am Hotel wie ich es mir gewünscht hätte. Das Fruhstück war in Ordnung: lecker, normal. Leider war mein Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage und mit sehr warmer Decke. Es war auch ziemlich dunkel im Zimmer.

Accueil lamentable+ Attention si voyage en famille

Nuit réservée pour deux adultes et un enfant (10 ans) via Hotels.com. A l’arrivée à l’hôtel (17h), accueil fait via interphone et enveloppe laissée pour la chambre. Chambre contenant un lit double, seulement. Manque un lit pour l’enfanr. Appel au numero de la réception (chez des partenaires d’un autre hôtel). Après discussion, on m’informe que j’ai bien réservé pour 2 adultes et un enfant mais que j’ai aussi réservé une chambre standard avec queen bed et que la politique de l’hôtel voulait que l’enfant dorme avec ses parents. J’explique que nous sommes oncle et tante et que dormir avec notre neveu de 10 ans dans un lit double n’est pas une option pour nous. Finalement, une solution nous est offerte : une chambre additionnelle nous est proposée pour un coût additionnel (et apparemment préférentiel) de 108CHF. On nous indique où chercher pour retrouver la clef cachée pour la chambre en plus. Impossible d’y avoir accès, la réception était fermée à clef. Nombreux appels encore pour que finalement, une personne de l’autre hôtel nous ramène la clef de la chambre additionnelle - il était 18h30.

1h30 de précieuses vacances perdues en parlementeries non-nécessaires. 108 CHF chargés en surplus - dans l’attente d’un réglement entre Hotels.com et le management de l’institution.

Autrement, grande chambre sans grand confort. Pas de clim, peut être chaud au milieu de l’été. Voisinage bruyant en ce vendredi soir.

Point positif : le petit déjeuner.

Alles war soweit gut, nur die Toilette war nicht richtig geputzt und Parken musste ich am ersten Tag auch wo anderst. Ansonsten sehr freundliches Personal!
