Este hotel es excelente! No esta muy lejos del centro de Berna, un tranvía que esta a media cuadra te acerca y ademas el hotel te brinda un TK para transporte gratuito. la atención fue excelente, el hotel es muy cómodo y bonito. Tiene una gran recepcion donde se puede desayunar y ademas tiene un piso entero para almorzar, trabajar o bien pasar el tiempo. La sala tiene cubiertos, agua caliente, microondas, metegol y muchas mesas cómodas para sentarse a almorzar o cenar. la habitación estaba mas que bien, super limpio, tienen aire acondicionado!!! algo mágico en Suiza. Lo super recomiendo, fue un 10!

The hotel is overall standard, clean, and compared to other hotels closer to city center is ok priced (for Switzerland). The only downside was shower temperature, it was going from boiling hot to freezing cold constantly and there was no way to regulate it. Also there was no kettle in the room and no option to get free tea from the reception area. You can buy tea from the hotel bar for 4CHF, the tea is a simple twinings teabag.
Location wise there's not much around, as in there are no restaurants and bars but the tram stop is just outside the hotel so it wasn't a problem. Hotel offers free public transport ticket, make sure to ask for it!

Not good for families with kids

Booked a double room for three nights to stay with my family, (spouse + 6 year old kid). We were not allowed to stay there and were asked to book another room due to there policies. We ended up booking an extra room (total of 2 rooms) in the same hotel for the night, Had to pay ~$ 100 although we never used the second room (ended up staying in the same room as a family). Had to stay in the Novotel hotel(next to Ibis under the same management) for next two night which cost me extra ~ $ 300 for the saty than I anticipated. It is strange that I never had this issue in other hotels in Switzerland (or any other country) during my 30 days trip in Europe.
Reasonably OK hotel for the money. Front desk staff not friendly or helpful at all. I would not stay there again and not recommending families with kids to stay there.

It is not centrally located, but only 15 minutes walking distance and 7 minutes by public transportation to the city center. It is very clean, the staff is very helpful and the breakfast is excellent. I would recommend it anytime.

Fantastic Hotel with great location!

Great hotel! A tram runs from the train station and stops in front of the hotel. The Bern Rose Garden, with great views of the city, is a short walk from the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to spend some time in Bern.

Very helpful staff who spoke good English. Good location, less than 15 minutes on the number 9 bus from the train station which runs very frequently. Room was clean and comfortable, only slight gripe was the bed sagged slightly in the middle. Air con worked well. Breakfast was good and included fresh fruit salad and waffles!

The hotel was as you would expect from an Ibis... clean but basic. The room was nice and the bed was comfy. The shower was alro very good. However the room cost us £105 per night for 2nights, plus 22chf in taxes. For an Ibis, this is rediculous! I appreciate that Bern is expensive but I couldn't believe the cost. They also charged 50chf deposit to hire an iron... i have never had to pay this in any hotel. The hotel is about 15mins from the town centre by tram no. 9 which is really efficient and easy to use with the free travel card. The hotel staff are really friendly too.

Everything was good except for the heat. The room was extremely hot and was hard to sleep at night. We left the cool air on the second night and it was still hot. They also only left one towel for two people and wouldn't deliver another towel. They told us we don't have room service and have to go downstairs get it ourselves. They also don't have a laundry facility in the hotel.

Inexpensive and pretty convenient,

Stayed just one night having to fly out early the 2nd morning. The hotel is right on the tram line which makes it easy to get to from the train station. ( the tram is free for people staying at the hotel... I think this is true for all hotels in the city)
Room is fairly sparse but the bed and pillow were comfortable. Front desk personnel were very helpful holding our bags, arranging for a taxi early the next morning and even allowing us to have a little breakfast serving the breakfast serving time actually opened. Overall a very positive experience.

Good value for the money

This was a low price hotel so I didn't expect a lot to get value. It was outside of the old town but the tram was right outside the hotel and only took 10 mins to get into town. We paid extra for breakfast which was very basic and not great value. The room was tiny meaning the bathroom was like an aeroplane toilet and the shower was barely above the floor so the water went everywhere. The bed practically touched the wall. That said I was happy with it for the price.

We made a last minute decision to stay over in Bern. This hotel is well located near a tram stop/line to the centre and then on across the city. The room is small but cleverly arranged with toilet/shower in a curvered corner \"buldge\". Cleanliness was impeccable. The bed very comfortable. We couldn't leave window open because of noisy trams outside. Access to free hot water for drinks and even a microwave oven in the coffee area, but no minibar in the room. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We have stayed many time in this hotel. Satisfied especially with the reasonable price. Conditions in the room are simple and good enough.
The biggest problem we cared the most was, mattresses lack of supportive , mattress has lumps & bumps, caused us back pain and bad sleep. Not sure if they have firmer mattresses in other rooms , we realized that the room is spacious enough to sleep on the floor. Just tired to find out. We did so everytime we stayed at Ibis hotel in Switzerland(zurich & Bern).
Hope Ibis solves this problem soon so we have comfortable sleep on vacation.

Very happy with our room and staff very friendly

Lovely clean room with beautiful views of the Alps. Lovely shower and very comfortable bed. Bern card given at reception saved us so much on public transport. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit to \"The Tramway\" pub/restaurant nearby. This hotel was a short tram ride from the city centre and easily accessible, would definitely stay here again. There was also a coffee vending machine and microwave facility one floor above the lobby which was very handy.

On arrival the staff we're friendly and professional. They recommended places to visit and gave us a Bern city card that enabled us to explore the city via tram an bus for free. This made out stay a lot easier no running to and throw ATMs getting exact change for public transport, we were able to focus on the important things; cheese, wine and exploration.

The room was immaculate and the bed comfortable, our window looked out over Bern with stables in the foreground and mountains in the distance. Wifi was fast and the shower's pressure good.

Over all a much enjoyed stay.

Our stay was 2 nights. We reached quite late, yet there were lots of trams to reach there. There was only one person at the desk who had to serve all the people in the bar and other customers. At first we felt it takes bit longer to check-in. However, the reception person was really nice and talking with him was really great. It refresh us. And he offered two transportation passes for us which can be used during our stay. The room was clean and comfort. And it was what we expected. Breakfast did not include with the room (we did not purchase it from hotel anyway). Traveling around was pretty easy since there were trams all the day.

Convenient if you take the tram

Tram 9 from Bern station and get off 8 stops later at Guisanplatz Expo. To get back to Bern station, take the opposite direction towards Wabern. No frills hotel which was undergoing renovations in Nov 2013 so had to lug our luggages up to the second floor to check in. WIFI provided, you'll have to ask the front desk if you need a cup for hot water as there are only plastic cups provided in the room.

One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Our room was not cleaned one day. The shower flooded the bathroom floor when used. They don't provide hand or face towels. The hotel lobby is having building works done so we had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs. And there was a lot of noise from the builders . I left a folder with important paperwork in our room by mistake. When I rung up to find it the same day, the first receptionist was rude and unhelpful and put the phone down on me. The second one was much better, but their housekeeping had thrown it out. Overall the service was very bad... except for the one receptionist that did help us. Would NEVER stay in this hotel again.

Couldn't fault the cleanliness of the room or hotel, or the staff, who were helpful and approachable. Rooms are a little basic, especially the bathrooms, but the beds are comfortable, and the location is a good base for exploring Zurich.

Finding good meals in Switzerland proved near-impossible, but the hotel restaurant was as good as anything else we tried.

The bathrooms in the hotel are prefabricated and look like they come from a cruise ship.

They do have free Wi-Fi but it frequently times out and you need to code every 24 hours which can get quite annoying.

But it was pretty easy to take the tram to the city center.

Our stay here was very comfortable. We had breakfast here which had plenty of choice for a budget hotel.
We travelled into Bern on the bus from a nearby stop (10mins walk from the hotel) as the service is cheap and reliable and saved us getting the car out of the underground parking. Also the buses run later into the night than the shops stay open so there was no worry about getting back home. Usually you would have to pay for parking although at the time we were there the barrier was broken and so all parking was free.
I would stay here again.

You need to take a bus to go from the train station. You can walk to downtown, but it is a good 40min. The room was ok , but it had no alarm clock, or coffee machine. Also, the water kept going from extremely cold to hot on the shower. Other than that it was just ok.

Much better hotels were probably available. Very disconnected from the personal side of Switzerland. Ideal if you are wanting a risk free clean room, but a smaller chain would have suited us better.

Had to pay for everything else extra including Wifi. Towels very small so take your own or request more.

The Hotel in Bern

The receptionist is really nice and in good English. The room is reasonably sized that can accommodate two persons and two luggage bags. The location is convenient and is just opposite to the tram station. It takes around 15 minutes to City Centre by tram No. 9 which is at a frequency of 5 minutes per tram. Free Wi-Fi is provided and remember to obtain the login passwords from the receptionist. With individual washroom. Overall, I would rank it as highly recommended.

Inexpensive option in Bern

All other hotels are extremely expensive. The hotel is a little far away from the center (10 minutes by tram, which comes about every 10 mins). Has 2 other hotels in the same building - novotel at a higher price and another one (from the same chain) at an even lower price.
Nothing in the area other than a national horse farm (which you smell when you leave the taxi...) and the expo opposite the hotel. No cafes, nothing.
If you can afford a better hotel I recommend staying in the center. If not - it is a good compromise.

Ibis Hotel Expo - clean, great staff

This is a great hotel for international travelers that need a little extra help in Switzerland. Staff was very helpful, and spoke multiple languages, including english. Recommended for American travelers. Walking distance from the Tram that can take you to the tourist spots in less than 10 minutes.
