I was worried about the lack of AC and the teeny tiny room. YES the room was small, but it was well-appointed and housed a little \"hidden\" kitchen under the counter. It also had a decent-sized fridge. The room was clean and had storage and cubbies to help fit everything. Yes, you had to sleep with the window open, but the neighborhood was quiet. Compared to my next hotel, which boasted AC (barely worked) and a larger room, this place was a gem. The next property had no fridge, no decent storage, horrible lighting, and no comfortable seating. Give the Alpenblick a try, you wont be disappointed! Another cool thing-they have their own bees!

Fantastic hotel. Some of the nicest staff ever! Great location with beautiful room. We had the family room that sleeps four. Two adults and two adult sized teenagers fit very comfortably. Huge bathroom and even a mini kitchen. Beautiful library on the floor with extra space to spend time in. Coffee, tea, water and even milk for coffee included with stay. We loved it here.

We stayed one night at this hotel and really enjoyed it. From the check in process, to check out, everything was flawless. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. It felt like we were taken care of. The room itself is very clean and cozy. Everything you need is there. The hotel also offers laundry services, which was very helpful for our travel. Definitely recommend and would come back here again.

Amenities are clean and new. Room is spacious. There is a library next to our room, with snack and drinks to purchase. Walk 5 min to no. 9 tram station, which takes 5 min to old town and train station. The only inconvenience is they sent a code to my email the day before which I forgot to check. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon, there’s no one at front desk, which makes us panicking. Finally another customer inside the building helped us.

A great alternative in Bern

Very comfortable and welcoming place to stay, close to the city with excellent local cafes. The hotel has a lot of additional facilities - kitchenette in the room, nice coffee and tea in the library, laundry facilities. Best of all are the cheerful, helpful and efficient team on the front desk.

The hotel is in a quiet area, opposite a park. It has helpful reception staff and a very useful information folder in the room. The room was modern with a good amount of space to store clothes. In-room safe. There is also a nice library area and hairdressers. Good breakfast. Lift to all floors. Only a 3-4 minute flat walk to the nearby tram stop, which is next to a supermarket. The number 9 tram only takes 5 minutes to reach the centre and goes direct to the main station in 10 minutes. A 5 minute walk to the rose garden viewpoint (some steps). Overall clean, comfortable and convenient.

Hotel in a great neighbourhood location in Bern. Staff were all really friendly and welcoming. Our room on the fourth floor was consistently hot despite the radiators being off. We tried sleeping with the windows open but there was too much noise in the morning so if you are not an early riser you might want to ask for a fan in summer. Some of the basics were not covered, like tea and coffee in the room, and the safe with the 200CHF key deposit is not modern or user friendly. Overlooking those things, the beehive is a great idea and the restaurant was also good. Would recommend the hotel but think there is always room to improve:-)

Initially, I was concerned that it was not in the heart of the city, but Bern is a small city and the hotel is walking distance to the old town. Hotel Alpenblick is in a great location - an easy tram ride from Bern city centre and on a quiet side street. The staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful and very understanding of our almost non-existent German. (They all spoke several languages.) The room was a decent size with all the necessary basics. The room was very hot when we arrived, but we turned off the radiators and opened the windows (I hate hotel where you can't open the windows!) and all was fine in a few minutes. The hotel is quirky and fun. We ate our very good takeout pizzas from Grotto Ticino in the loungue on two nights and they were pleased to get us whatever we needed - cutlery, wine glasses, napkins. This is a lovely and reasonably priced (for Switzerland) place to stay when in Bern.

Wonderful fun boutique hotel. Extremely clean, friendly fun staff, great breakfast and comfortable rooms. One of the cleanest hotels I have been in (and I travel a lot). Loved staying here and would highly recommend this hotel. You get a great local pass to ride the buses and trams with your room which we used everyday. Hope to stay here again in future visits.

Very cute lay out . We had a family room with bunk beds . Coffee and water in the lobby area , plus photo booth that was fun to use .
Hotel has a sitting / library area which is nice .
Breakfast buffet was excellent,you can boil your eggs with hourglass timers .
Bern is just another busy city , so we did not really enjoy it much .
Hotel is not close to train station , had to take bus .
Make sure to take the right direction bus !!!

An Absolute Delight

This hotel is in a neighborhood which was wonderful. It is near the center of Bern via the tram, though, just minutes away. The tram is free because of a ticket guests receive from Hotel Staff. The neighborhood is quiet, also. The breakfast at the hotel is wonderful. The room was the right size. I’m not much of a tv person but there were many channels to choose from and music channels, also. Most importantly, the Hotel Staff are kind and eager to assist guests.

Hotel Alpenblick is a small hotel located in a residential area away from the city center. The hotel is a short walk from a tram line that goes to the Old Town and the Bern train station. The hotel provides guests with complimentary city transport passes. One can reach the Old Town in less than 10 minutes by the tram.

The hotel has attractive pine furniture and accents in the rooms and some of the common areas. This gives a rustic feel which was unexpected but pleasing. There's a nice little library on the second floor between the main building and the old building, with books in multiple languages.

My room was well designed and had everything that I needed - except window screens. I opened my windows for ventilation and soon discovered that there were mosquitoes coming in. I suspect that the mosquito season in central Switzerland is short - but not having screens made for one long night.

The hotel staff was helpful, if not effusively welcoming. I was provided with clear directions to get to the Old Town by foot and also by tram. The remote for the TV didn't work. The person working at the front desk promptly replaced the batteries,

At the breakfast there was the usual nice selection of fresh breads, pastries, and cereals.

In summary, I am happy that I chose to stay at the Hotel Alpenblick and feel that I got excellent value for my money. I have deducted one star for the mosquito ingress.

Lovely hotel with great quirky character

Excellent hotel with character. We booked a family room which was a generous size with proper bunk beds for the kids rather than the standard sofa bed. Everything was high quality and the hotel is in a very quiet area of Bern. It is about 1.5 Km from town but there is a tram stop 5 mins walk away and public transport is provided free via a Bern Card for the duration of the stay. Also on our floor was a large room with a small library, lounge area and large table for somewhere to chill out rather than being in the room

Overall a pleasant experience, staff was accommodating. We were unaware that the hotel had no airconditioning, but the hotel promptly provided us with a ventilator and gave us a room on a higher floor. Location was a little far from the old town(25 mins by walk) but near to the Rosengarten. Breakfast spread was decent. Restaurant serves good dinner as well.

Comfortable Bern hotel just outside city center

Usually, I reserve a five star rating for a \"perfect\" hotel, but I'm giving Hotel Alpenblick five stars, even though it is not quite perfect, because I enjoyed my stay so much and was very comfortable and happy here. The hotel's location is perfect: a 15 minute walk or a very short tram ride from the historic center. (The center can be very busy with both shoppers and tourists, so it is nice to be just outside that zone). The neighborhood is very pleasant and quiet; such a peaceful area to arrive back in on a still, cold winter's night. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. They lent me scissors to wrap presents. Better, upon check in, you are given a free transit card to use on the trams throughout your stay. My single room was small, but not as small as some European single rooms and it had a lot of wood furniture, including a little nightstand cut with a tree trunk. Made everything feel fresh and clean. I had a nice view of a pleasant green park across the street. WiFi worked great. Breakfast was pretty good, though perhaps a couple of hot options would have been nice. But overall I was extremely happy with my choice.

A great hotel for visiting Bern

Stopped for one night with the family while visiting Bern. The hotel is in a quiet residential area 15 min walk (via a lovely park) into the centre of Bern. This was the first hotel of our Switzerland trip. It was tough to find a reasonably priced hotel to accommodate a family of four adults. The hotel is not in the town center, but has easy access to public transportation. We did appreciate the location as it is across from the park and away from the hustle and bustle, very quiet area. Near the trolly station are two grocery stores if you need any supplies or snacks. The room was large enough for the four of us and linens and beds were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was also provided and adequate to get us going in the morning.

The Hotel Alpenblick was a fabulous hotel! I was a little concerned that it was out of the downtown and about a 15 walk from the train station. But, after being there, I'm so glad we weren't in the center of things! This hotel is easily accessible by tram. Upon checking in, they give you a card that is valid for all the public transit for the duration of your stay. The trams come often and are very easy to figure out.
The hotel was very welcoming and friendly. Everything was super clean and very very comfortable. The room was large and bright. The beds were very snuggly and comfortable. The hotel was very quiet. There was ample space to place suitcases and shelving to spread out a bit. The bathroom was spotless and had a great shower. We enjoyed breakfast immensely! Delicious coffees & teas, fresh breads/rolls/croissants, yogurts, muesli, fresh fruits, cheeses & delicious jams/jellies.
There are no kettles in the rooms, but hot water, coffee & tea is available at the reception 24 hours a day. I will stay at Hotel Alpenblick whenever I return to Bern. It's a no-brainer! Book this hotel for your stay in Bern.

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The room was much larger than we expected, as was the bathroom and closet space. The room was light, bright and new. While it is located a little out of town, it is only two short blocks from the tram stop and only 10-12 minutes from the main train station. We appreciated the inclusion in our room rate of a tram/bus pass for unlimited rides for each of us during our stay. The breakfast choices were adequate. The price was quite good by comparison to hotels in town. All in all, we are very happy to recommend this hotel.

Corinne gave us excellent feedback for our questions on local travel destinations, and she made sure we had the extra items we requested for our room to make us feel truly at home while traveling. The alpinblick was well located in a quite residential area four tram stops from the centre of Berne. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Rooms small but very comfortable. The restaurant was very pleasant with good service and moderately priced by Swiss standards.
I would throughly recommend this Hotel.

A nice quadruple room

We stay in a quadruple room. Mattress is a bit too soft for me. Hotel condition is good. Nice to have rest areas with tables and chairs at different floors. Neighbourhood is quiet. 5 minutes walk to bus stop.

Great residential neighbourhood, just a few trolley stops from the old city. Clean room with no extras. We spent one night there - breakfast was included and had everything one can wish for. Staff was super friendly. We parked our car in the garage so we didn't have to deal with the snow. We were completely happy with everything.

Very nice and clean and in a quiet area.

The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly with all our questions. It is a little out of the way but offers a really nice walk from there to the old town of Bern throufgh the Rose garden. The room was a typical European style hotel room but very comfortable. We were there only one night and the restaurant was not open. Breakfast was great! I would stay there again.

Nice Location-Quiet Residential Area of Bern

The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk to the edge of Old Town. If you are interested in seeing the bears, they will be the first things you see as you walk into town from this direction. The scenery is quite beautiful as well, as you will be walking down from above. The hotel is also accessible by tram, and is located in a quiet residential area with lots of trees. The tram stop is just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is cold (cheeses, sliced meet, fruit, yoghurt) but the selection is pretty good and it's fresh.

The hotel is in a quiet location (other than bells which ring every 15 minutes and more on the hour), and a 10 minutes pleasant walk to Bear park.
The decor of the hotel is simple and clean. Complimentary bottles water is a nice service.
The in-room safe is not usable unless you obtain a specific key by paying a Fr 200 deposit. This should be free by default, like most other hotels. Breakfast in the hotel is minimal but adequate. Being in a major city, there should be English newspapers and a few more English TV channels available.

Nice hotel in Bern,easy access to old town

The Hotel Alpenblick is a very easy walk to a tram, which reliably comes every several minutes and goes to the old town and train station in under 10 minutes. The tram system is great, and the hotels offer cards for unlimited free rides. Ordinarily this hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, but we happened to stay there on Swiss National Day (Aug 1), and there were nonstop fireworks for several hours. It was a fine hotel for our stay.

Really attentive and kind staff!

Simona at the Reception was really efficient and helpful with providing information on the city as well as all the directions on the map. The hotel is very near to Rosegarden, which provides an amazing view of the old town. From there Bear Pit is only 10 minutes' away on foot.

We stayed in room 106 with our two teenagers. It had bunk beds and a queen bed. We can't figure out why this was only rated a 3-star hotel other than it doesn't have air conditioning (but we stayed in July and didn't need it). The service was excellent ... friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included each morning and it was very good. We had a great dinner at the restaurant too! We would definitely stay in this hotel again!
