From the moment we got off our shuttle we were greated by a fantastic man named Sabas, he welcomed us as if we were family. He helped us with all our needs was constantly supportive and never batted an eye at helping us with our problems! If I could recommend a better service team Starting with Sabas, Antonio, the manager, the front desk team, David and Fernando the entertainment team. All the way to the service team. Joanna, constantly greeting us with a smile and knew our room number all the way to Jesus who helped us immediately and smiled and greeted us every single time he saw us. We felt welcomed and we will come again. The Buffet was limited and the Italian restaurant was something to desire as the menu was not completely available. Room service was slow. Outside of that. I have nothing but good things to say I have found myself at a loss for worlds. Sabas, his professionalism and kindness will not ever be forgotten, thank you for making our stay that much better. Thank you for the great time, memories and new friends!!

we loved this place top to bottom!! the food, the service, the fun!! David was great at keeping the party alive! or even just sitting down having drinks he kept us laughing! Sabes was soo helpful when we arrived and continued to answer any questions we had!! Pedro poured us the BEST drinks at the pool bar! even our housekeeper was so sweet!
the views were incredible! the night entertainment was a blast! the ONLY complaint i’d have is that the pool closes at 8.. we would have loved to night swim but.. :/… regardless! WE HAD AN AMAZING TIME and would recommend this place to anyone!!

Hotel \"Greeter\" made promise for additional water and beer and never executed (had 3 in a room)
Beach restaurant went from buffet style to menu . This limited choices and personal preference.
Soft serve ice cream machines were broken and inoperable. It was hot down there and needed
Food quality, including new Mexican dishes, probably average at best.
Still no freezer to hold local caught fish. They could get many additional guests if they provided this service for free like they did several years back. Fishing friends staying at nearby hotels who offer this service.

I'm still planning on booking this hotel if they can work on the improvement list. Their friendly staff makes them special as we have been staying at the hotel for 6 years now (twice per year)

Can't swim in ocean..too rough,but I like early morning walks on the beach and there's sting rays leaping ..which is wierd- great staff,genuinely nice people. Will be going again for sure,humidity is lower with more breeze than Yucatan 9 day trip it rained for 2mins maybe ...there is construction though,they're updating everything eventually. ..

Room was dated but clean. Beach front room with a great view. We stayed at this property many times when it was Barcelo and we were worried about the changes.
Great: The location, the infinity pool, the staff!! Shout out to Oscar in guest services who went above and beyond in compensating us after a bad experience in the Italian restaurant. Luis at the pool service--so happy to see that he remained there after Barcelo left. He's awesome!! The grounds are lovely and very well maintained. Dorthea with the fresh omelets at breakfast. The made-to-order sushi rolls at the buffet (don't remember the chefs name). Jesus at entry way-helped with bags and transportation.
Not so great-- The cabanas that sit all around the infinity pool for members. They weren't used hardly at all and they take up so much space around the pool. Cabanas should not be in front of the infinity pool, blocking the view of the ocean. The pool does need fixed, lots of tiles crumbling on the sides. I understand that they are renovating the property so I assume this will be addressed at some point.
The food-- you can always find something to eat at the buffet but it's very hit and miss. The hot food is actually cold sometimes.
The bad-- THE BIRDS! Please do something about the birds!! Aggressive seagulls, pigeons, and many small birds are all over the snack bar area. Seagulls lining the edge of the pool and pooping all over it. I know there are several ways to deter birds--PLEASE invest in some.

The view from resort was beautiful. Definitely a resort for an older crowd! It seems like an older property....was showing its age. Food was lacking but staff was great! They only allow one restaurant reservation per stay with all inclusive package and buffet was not very good! Had several areas for \"members only\" which we did not think was fair since we paid a lot to stay there and were never many members in the areas.

I am in the airline industry and travel the world and have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the last 20 years. If it were not for the super friendly and helpful staff, I would have not completed my stay and went elsewhere.
It is very loud in the pool area in the afternoon with the DJ and music blasting. Paid for an Ocean view and the view was facing the hotel courtyard and blocked by a palm tree. Paid for a queen and got two small beds. Front desk moved me to a room on the second floor. Again, 2 beds and lousy view. Showed the front desk a picture on my phone and they agreed you could not see the ocean but it “technically an ocean view room”. False advertising and paid extra for the view. Every ice machine was broke or missing in our wing. 1 of the 2 elevators was broke. Food was average so we ate breakfast at the hotel and all other meals elsewhere after 2 days. Long wait times for drinks at the pool due to lack of staff. Pool chairs were taken/claimed by around 10 am with towels on them and no one hardly in sight. Hotel needs to stop that policy. Senior citizens get up early and claim almost all the chairs.
Never going back.

We are not experts at all-inclusive hotels. This was our first. We were surprised that \"all-inclusive\" really meant \"mostly-inclusive.\" We were not able to eat at the nicest restaurants there because they were reserved for \"members.\" Not a big deal - we enjoyed the food offered where we were allowed. The staff was excellent. The facilities were great, although one elevator was broken the entire time of our stay. We were very happy there and sad to leave when the time came.

Food was very repetitious. Breakfast was good. Dinner at Don Gus was really good. Pools were great. Incredible view from our room. Nice grounds. Good bed. Sad pillows. The Friday night Mexican Fiesta was terrific.

Multiple minor issues wasted a lot of our time…wrist bands quit working 3 times - had to go to front desk and wait in line to get them rekeyed. Batteries in the safe died 3 times - we had to be present in the room when maintenance came. Each time, it took them 1/2 hour to arrive, and each time they put in used batteries. Air conditioner so noisy we got no sleep first night…took 2 hours to change rooms in the morning. Only one elevator working, and it always stopped on the 4th floor before it would take us to the 5th. Building needs an upgrade.

The staff were great with what they had to work with. The food was not enjoyable and we walked out of the Italian restaurant it was so bad o also ended up sick that night. The key was to eat when they made something under the gazebo near the beach. We learned if you wanted to get a good meal you had to leave the resort. I also have never stayed at a resort that did not serve Beer out of a can, instead it was draft two kinds into a small plastic cup. Not sure when they clean their draft Beer lines or if they do but something didn't tast right. I do want to say that the different entertainment was great, the dancers, circus, karaoke, violen and chillo

The staff were very nice and helpful. The property needs some updating and appears to be older but was clean. The infinity pool was nice but had several large cracks along the edges and was showing its wear. The adult pool was ok but the main pool had very loud music playing most of the day. Our balcony ocean front room was the best part of the stay. The buffet was not appealing and not easy to determine what was actually being served. The signage was not always posted in front of the items. The mexican restaurant was much better than the buffet but you need a reservation. We were offered a complimentary charcuterie tray when we checked in but it did not arrive until the following evening at 6PM and we were checking out the next day. Also, the tray was not covered with plastic wrap, just left in our room with a note. While the gesture was nice I think it should be have delivered earlier in the day to enjoy it and since it was left in our room uncovered it was definitely not something we wanted to eat since it was left uncovered for hours. The kitchen staff should be made aware of this.

This property has great potential! We did have a wonderful time as a family of four with two little ones. It was safe, clean and the food was good. Not to mention a beautiful place with a view of the beach and Sierra San Francisco mountains that are to die for. There were some standouts in the staff, JP in Guest Services, Cynthia the bartender, Santiago on the waitstaff and the whole entertainment staff were all wonderful. The staff as a whole was pleasant and their only shortfalls were in managements coordination.

My issue with the resort comes down to management and coordination. Nobody talked to eachother. The front desk wasn't up to speed on anything. I would get three different answers from 3 different people and departments. They didn't know about the events, the restaurants, reservations for the restaurants etc... That being said, the restaurant situation is challenging. You cannot book until you have a room number and there are no reservations available even if you did. I was not able to try anything other than the buffet and even that I could not get into one evening. This could all be solved by management and coordination. They have potential and can easily make this top tier.

The hotel itself is nice but I was really upset at the fact that this is an all inclusive option (which I did purchase) and I wasn’t able to get a reservation at ANY of the restaurants inside the property. How is this all inclusive? We had to eat at the buffet every day, breakfast lunch and dinner. Don’t get me wrong it’s all you can eat at the buffet but I went there mainly for the restaurants because I wanted to try them. Staff in the hotel were overall helpful, no one could book me a reservation but they were helpful with everything else. It’s very clean. Another thing was that in the website there was an itinerary for activities, the ONE activity I wanted to do they kept cancelling it! 3x it was cancelled. I probably won’t be attending again. I was trying to relax and it was surprise after surprise, it gave me more stress to be honest. Trying to book things on my own.

I’d recommend this for those looking for a relaxing, affordable (relative to nearby resorts), and reputable spot with food and amenities that are good enough. Don’t recommend for well-traveled, bougie, high-standards travelers. Breakfast, drinks, specialty restaurants, and service were fantastic. It’s in a great location, just a 10-min walk from a superstore and across the street from pharmacies. The buffets were fine, amenities were fine, itinerary is fine (everyone seems to go to sleep at night), and accommodations were fine. My biggest grievance is that the pool chairs are all reserved by 8am, but pool is still half empty by noon. I wish they’d enforce that better so I didn’t have to set an alarm to go lay my towel on a chair. Good mix of families, spring breakers, young, old, etc. Overall, I think you get what you pay for and then some. There are better options, but there are certainly much worse — I had a great time, and it seemed like everyone else did too. Shout out to Fernando, Sabas, Arturo, and Val for being entertaining and kind!

Let’s start with the buffets, because… wow. The food was terrible, nothing was labelled, and half the time we were playing “Guess That Mystery Dish.” And the plates? Calling them “clean” would be generous — we had to dig through stacks just to find one that didn’t look like it had already lived a full life.

The à la carte restaurant was actually great, but good luck getting in. Their reservation system is a joke. Six days at the resort and we managed to snag two reservations. Two. For a resort this size, that’s embarrassing.

Room & Cleanliness
The staff were nice, but the room? Straight out of the 1970s — and not in a cute retro way. The décor was dated, the furniture didn’t match.

Cleanliness was another adventure. Mold on the shower tiles, mold around the drain, and one night we were greeted by a cockroach in the bathroom. Nothing says “vacation” like turning on the light and seeing something scuttle. Many stains on the bed sheets and headboard.

Pool & Atmosphere
If you enjoy waking up at 3 am to reserve a pool chair then you found your spot. There were nowhere near enough seats for the number of guests, so people were claiming chairs the night before just to have a spot the next day. The whole vibe felt competitive and stressful—the opposite of the relaxing atmosphere a resort should offer.

Massive volleyball tournament that took up majority of the beach which we were not warned about. Walking by the ocean was the only enjoyable part of staying here.

Rocky start: paid for ocean view room had view of pool and palm trees. I went down to change room. They did move us up two floors and the view was nice. Said we had to wait 40 minutes for room to be ready, but was an hour and a half. We checked back four times before we got into the room.

Bathroom sink facet had a slow stream and couldn’t shut it off. Ran a tub full of water and turned on jets. Lots of black particles in tub. Don’t even want to think about what they were.

Food at cafeteria style restaurant was what you would expect, and even a picky eater could find something. You have to have reservations for the other onsite restaurant. Only 1 restaurant was open per night. The Italian restaurant was really good the Mexican okay.

Lots of loud music played by pool all day with some exercise classes and bingo.

The ocean out front had big waves and some undercurrent. I enjoyed the waves, but not good for smaller children or anyone not really comfortable in the water.

One of two main elevators was broken all three days we were there.

We had an excellent holiday. The grounds were georgeous, the pools were great and the staff were very friendly and courteous. The resort was clean and cared for. The rooms were basic but clean and spacious. We are perplexed why people would complain about the food. The buffets had good variety and tasty dishes. Was it perfect.....no but I never left without having something good. The snack bar was bit iffey for me. The pool drinks had little alcohol in them but it was probably was for the best. They need to improve on the pool bar service and set up. The lobby bar made good quality drinks! The competition for pool chairs was a bit tiresome.Getting up early to get your seat was was not a problem because you got to witness the fantastic sunrise. There was always a free chair on the beach.

Their membership process was overwhelming, very pushy. They were short staffed, line ups to get drinks (no one around to serve you) and line ups to get inside for a table at the buffet. Even served ourselves wine as there were only 2 staff members serving a very large area. Staff was always very pleasant. Hotel also needs updating, looked very old or tired in many areas.

We have been staying at this hotel for 17 years before Solaris bought it. It is absolutely awful now.
They run out of everything on a daily basis. Who runs out of limes? We were told we could not have a washcloth because they no longer have them. The food at the Italian restaurant was raw. Sea Bass was raw and so was the steak. We never got the pasta and when asked about it, we were told they were out. When we asked to buy a bottle of wine at our expense, we were told no, with no reason. We asked to speak to a Manager, and said person never showed up. When we went to the office to complain, we were told we should have bought a Timeshare and we would not have these problems.
If you say no to a Timeshare presentation, all of the staff treat you differently. This place is going to end up being the dump that is next door with the same owners.
So sad!!
Sadly, we will never be back to this place again.

We thought perhaps a 21-night stay might be a bit much at this resort, but we were actually sad to leave! This resort is comfortable, clean and friendly. Most staff are helpful and willing to go the extra mile if needed. The food was just mediocre, and the drinks were not what you would expect at a premium bar. But all in all, we were usually satisfied as we don't put our expectations too high for food and drink at all-inclusives. It makes sense that the hotel is being cost-effective and is trying to reduce wastefulness. There was a daily contest as to which guests could get up the earliest to get out to the pools to place their towels on a sun lounger, I guess this happens everywhere. Coffee was made available in takeout cups for earlybirds like us to enjoy with the gorgeous sunrises on the beach. A nice touch. A very casual and relaxing vacation. We had visited this resort in 2021 for 14 days, before it became GR Solaris Lighthouse, and we most certainly hope to return here soon.

The ocean was partially visible through palm trees on the property. Pools were nice. Room was clean. Restaurants and bars were a little disappointing, both severely understaffed, some restaurants only open certain days, one only serving breakfast but listed as breakfast and lunch. Food variety not there, mostly the same food every day at the buffets. Staff was mostly nice, watch out for concierge, they will try to talk you into a time share sales meeting.

We booked an ocean view room and unfortunately there was no ocean in sight. The manager said he would take care of it the next day and haven’t heard a single word from the property.
Our room had an amazing bathtub,unfortunately it dispensed yellow brownish water. Called the front desk with the issue and am still waiting for an update. We checked daily on the colored water and every time it was horrible.
The buffet was another experience with birds landing on the different food areas. The food was sub par adding to the not great experience at this property.
The staff was mediocre and not too helpful when ordering from the pool bar ( Raphel ). The one bright employee was Cecilia at the hostess reception desk. She would always smile and be courteous.
I honestly hate to discourage people’s opinion for an all inclusive,but this was not good.

We had a great room w/ balcony and partial ocean view and our housekeeper was a lovely woman named Justina. While the resort was clean and had a lovely location, the buffet dinners left lots to be desired. The Italian Restaurant was excellent. Town was within walking distance and the food there was plentiful and tasty! People did that \"save the chair\" thing at this resort and so pool side was mostly unavailable unless you were \"that\" type of person. The resort should have a no \"reserving\" rule to allow more access to all guests. The beach was lovely and usually had lounge chairs available.

The staff were amazing, the programs are great. Everyone was helpful.

The food needs improvement. We stayed here last year, and there were two meals where there was all you can eat steak. Last year, there was also an outdoor barbecue. None of that happened this year. The food was a definite noticeable downgrade.

The other disappointing factor was that we were assigned the wrong room at the beginning of our stay. I am not blaming anyone, because it could very well have been my error, but it did set us back from unpacking and totally relaxing by a day. Again, these things happen, but it’s worth mentioning.

The big factor was the average food compared to last year.

Anything nice, or “cool” wasn’t included. From Starbucks to bars, to cabanas. Everything was a members only space.

The food at the restaurants were okay, but the buffet was awful. My husband got food poisoning from meat that was served. The bars had fruit flies and the beer coming from the tab tasted like it had never been cleaned.

The staff were friendly, but everywhere you turned, they were trying to charge you for something.

I would not recommend this to anyone, nor go back.

Property overall has clean and our beachfront room was great- view was perfect. We were on the 4th floor and unfortunately the elevators were not working on that end of the building so had to hoof it up 4 floors numerous times or walk to the interior of the property to get elevator and walk back toward beach... also the food was very mediocre. Breakfast buffet had very limited breakfast items and service was terrible. Obviously needed more staff. Other restaurants were very blah, service was better tho. Best food was at the pool bar/buffet. Spa was not open but they did our massage in the penthouse suite- living room. Good massage but the open space made it weird ambience.

The room was excellent! The Staff was uber freindly. A very enjoyable stay and would be a choice to stay again. The food was very good, ate a lot. The view from the room was awe inspiring. I wish we were more clearly informed of the amenities, where they were, how to get to them and what they presented, but the emphasis seemed to be on a club membership.

I'll leave a longer review later but this is BY FAR the worst all inclusive resort we have ever been to. The food is awful, and we observed many health ansd safety violations in the preparation, handling and serving of food.

The room was in good condition. The ac worked really well and the housekeeping was excellent. The downside were the food, restaurant choices (basically only 3) the app, and having to reserve the good pool chairs by 6:00am.

We overall enjoyed our stay, best thing was the staff! The food and rooms were fine for all inclusive. The biggest issue we had was the noise in the night (staff cleaning the hallways, room doors slamming, etc) as the noise carries very easily in the hallways.

I had pre-arranged with the hotel for airport pickup and transportation but it took over 2 hours for them to actually come and get me. One driver arrived after 45 min but he was there to pick up another couple, despite having my name and confirmation on his phone.

Check-in at the hotel was easy & efficient. I did not like the hard sales push after check-in, as we had been traveling all day and just wanted to get into our rooms.

My room flooded the first night, with water coming in from the ceiling near the door and throughout the bathroom. I had about 2 inches of water in my room before I was finally moved to a new room. It was close to 11:30pm by the time I got to my new room.

The hostess for the Mexican and Italian restaurants was rude. The first night she told us we must have a reservation, despite the restaurant only being half full. As we started to leave, she stopped us and told us she would seat us but insisted that tomorrow we would need a reservation. The second night we had a reservation but accidentally made it for the next night. She refused to seat us, but again as we started to leave, she agreed to seat us.

The wait staff at breakfast was very reluctant to serve us mimosas. The pool bar on Sunday was out of Sparkling Wine and White wine.

The hotel is great need of updating. Most of the staff were pleasant but the people working the bar were less than pleasant, throughout the hotel.

The pool does not have enough chairs to support the volume of guests.

This resort is not even close to what it was from a quality perspective compared to a previous stay under different ownership. Non functioning elevators, general overall service and appearance to food quality. Also, 8 of the people in our oarty of 14 got extremely ill. We will not be back.

Unfortunately this is going to be the one review I have to do. I star for the location and 1 star for the rooms. I wish I was told at check in that we had to make reservations to ALL restaurants we were not told at all. We checked in at 3 and went to look for something to eat and the only ting available was pizza and burgers outside then for dinner we couldn’t get into any restaurant so we had to eat at the buffet which was terrible, for an all inclusive it was not worth it would not stay here again.

When we arrived, there was no stocked fridge, there was only two robes with three people staying in the room, when I went to get water from the bar, they told me I had to go buy it, we went to make dinner reservations and we couldn’t get dinner reservations till 930 at night. As well as we were told that most of the restaurants were fully booked when I sat by the pool in the morning there was a grinding happening for about three hours not very many people speak English very little service by the pool. No music by the pool room service was horrible. Nobody answered the phone. The Bellman took two hours to come and get our bag so we just brought them down ourselves. Everything from the beginning to the end was horrible at this resort we left early. They tried to stop us. I will never come back here.

Nothing went well the rooms are huge and they all have a view of the ocean but they are in desperate need of pgrading the service in general was terrible the food except breakfast was awful entertainment was great and although my reservation was prepaid they could not find the payment but this was already adressed with you it is a long story

It was a really nice experience. I’ve been to plenty of resort and they had really good food except the Italian place. Wasn’t crazy about it. The Buffett and Mexican restaurant was amazing. I had the most wonderful and kind waiter, Carlos. He was very attentive and sang Happy Birthday to me.
The resort was clean especially the pool. I didn’t like that it was open and not gated and also you can only reserve ONE restaurant your entire stay. Also, since i didn’t have them take my luggage they never told me where my room was. Overall, i had a wonderful experience.
In addition to, you cannot swim in the ocean, It was very rough.

I did not have working lights or air conditioning until 8:30pm on the first day. The connecting door did not lock. Maintenance put two NAILS in it. This was completely unsafe. I was not offered a new room. I checked out two days early and the hotel refused a refund

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The room was great and staff was very friendly. The set up with the dinners in the separate restaurants was not clear. We were told there we got one choice for one night at one of the restaurants.

We did enjoy the buffets and entertainment. We did not know we would be pushed to do the membership presentation but it was dropped after my wife adamantly said we were not interested.

Buffet was not great. Different morning buffet for ‘gold members’ seemed odd. Nowhere on-site to get snacks, suntan lotion, etc, except for shop that is not affiliated with hotel and outrageously overpriced. I went to the Solaris next door to buy snacks. Starbucks always seemed to be closed. Royal Solaris much better than Solaris Lighthouse
