Place is a scam - the towel scam is very real. They tried to pull it on us on checkout. Knowing it would likely happen we gave extra thirty minutes to check out and yell at the staff until they turned over our 6,000 baht. Why would I want to steal a face cloth 😂. Stay clear of this place - lots of better options

This place was a disappointment, when we entered the room, the first thing we noticed was stains and hairs in our sheets, went downstairs and asked for them to be changed and we got told that we had to wait till the next day, so my girlfriend asked for a spare sheet and we changed it ourselves, just when we thought it was over, we went into the bathroom to shower and a huge roach came out, bathroom was not clean and it had a smell. I’m all about affordable rooms and I’m deff not expecting a 5 star hotel or treatment, I’m super open minded, but this was terrible. I had booked 2 nights and we were gone within an hr of being there. We did not stay, we truly couldn’t after that experience.

I loved the pool on the roof, the local people are great, very relaxed and friendly. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful in all instances, always smiling. In Thailand nothing is ever in a rush. I will be going back next year.

The hotel was very clean, had a lovely pool and restaurant on the roof, and the sunsets were spectacular from there. The hotel is in an excellent position for Karon beach just 1 minutes walk away. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I really enjoyed y stay and the bed was so comfortable. The only thing was the shower, which went from very hot to very cold. I didn't report it as I think it is just one of those things.

Hotel is nice especially the swimming pool on rooftop , I love chicken wings which I ordered from hotel’s restaurant staff is very nice and friendly , location is good , close to the nice beach , restaurants, location is quiet and safe as well, the room is small but neatly , bed is comfy but I don’t like the pillow , so hard and high , room is still smell new painting

Nice stay - awesome roof top pool area

Nice hotel with a great roof top pool area. Room was good size. Area has a lot of restaurants and Massage places nearby (it is a more expensive area than Patong). 400 Baht each way to Patong. Nice beach.

The location is very central - close to beach, eating places (range from simple street food to upmarket cafes & restaurant, mini-marts, spa&massages, travel agents, money changers, taxi-stand etc Amenities at the hotel is excellent esp. the rooftop pool & bar - relaxing & very nice view from here for both day & night (esp. enjoy sunset)! It was also a bonus to have free punch, ice-creams & pop corn during certain hours. Our deluxe rooms were spacious & well maintained <3

We had a one night stop over here. Location is pretty much on the beach, short walk down the road the hotel is on which has a lot of local restaurants and bars in the area.

The hotel has a really nice rooftop pool and they offer a free sunset drink to finish off your day which was really nice. They also have a movie playing on the rooftop at night.

Room was okay for a one night stopover, had a nice veranda to sit on with tables and chairs.

Amazing rooftop pool and beautiful staff

We had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Sunset for almost a month. The room was great, very spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. The highlight no doubt is the rooftop pool and the staff who are extremely kind and helpful.
Mint and Joey in particular we’re so helpful and kind to my Fiancé and I.

Reasonably priced hotel near the beach

The hotel was clean and breakfast was good. Hotel staff were very accommodating which makes the stay very pleasant. Its only 2 mins walk to the beach and close to decent places to eat.

My family was there for 5 nights. Each day I complained about something, whether it be the aircon and the hot water but maintenance was very efficient and fixed straight away. The beds are extremely hard. Need more tv channels. Overall, we had good stay

Worth the stay, book now!

Superb stay from check-in to check-out.
Great staff, great room, great location (100m from Karon Beach), simply great all-around!
There is a booth at the hotel lobby where you can book your tours, rent a motorbike or book a taxi to airport. I rented a motorbike at 250baht/day (24hrs) and taxi to Airport was 1000baht (used the 1000baht hotel deposit fee for my taxi to airport).
When informed about the TV being abit blur, the hotel staff came within 1min to retify and was deeply apologetic.
Do note that housekeeping is between 8am-5pm so if you’re heading out late, don’t expect them to make your bed. However, they can still top-up bottled water and miscellaneous items outside housekeeping hours.
The rooftop pool was nice with a fantastic view. There, you can also check-out thier daily movie screening 8pm-10pm with free popcorn & ice-cream. There’s also free coffe/tea from 3pm-4pm where my wife and I had ours by the poolside right after our swim.
Overall, it’s definitely worth the stay with the stated price and I would surely book again if I visit Karon. Thank you Grand Sunset Hotel! :)

Grand Sunset Hotel

The Grand Sunset Hotel was great. Location was ideal for accessing Karon beach, restaurants and tourist shopping markets.
Rooms were clean. The hotel was not loud. It is not located directly on the main beach road so the traffic noise didn't seem to be an issue.
The staff was so nice. A family member misplaced a personal item and it was returned with all contents in place by the staff. It was such a relief. They helped us with any questions we had for them concerning the area and transportation.
I found the value for the location and all that we did to be really good.
I would recommend this place and stay there again.

Tired and in need of proper management.

Could be great, but it's not. Great location, just across the road from the wonderful beach, lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Great rooftop pool, but not many sunbeds. Biggest issue is the lack of management. Linen used on the bedding and towels mostly had rips, holes etc and were of poor quality. Room (deluxe 502) was a great size with separate living room, good balcony, but all a bit tired and not well maintained. When we complained about ripped bedding and towels, we received a shrug. Reception staff are surely and spend their time on the internet, faces stuck in facebook. Breakfast was ok, but space is too small and unless there early, often there was no where to sit. Could be so much better and it should be for the price!

Very enjoyable stay

My girlfriend and I stayed in a grand deluxe room. Very spacious and kept clean. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. In between the busy parts of Kata beach and Karon beach so ideal as only a short walk either way. Also very reasonably priced. Never ate at the hotel but place looked clean and welcoming for both breakfast and dinner. Would highly recommend and would visit again.

Great location, clean & comfortable

The room was comfortable though bit of an unusual setup. There were televisions in both bedrooms and living room. The living room was quite small so only had a lounge big enough to sit two people even though the room accommodated four. There was a cane table setting on the balcony so we moved it inside to use for extra seating and to play cards on as there was only the lounge and a coffee table in the living room due one wall having a huge built in wardrobe. Having said that we were very happy at Grand Sunset. The location to the beach, shopping and restaurants was fantastic and the rooftop pool was lovely for an afternoon swim and cold drink. The only downside was the shower ran hot and cold. All in all a great place to stay.

Karon beach little gem

My visit at the grand sunset hotel was a nice experience for a solo traveller. It wasnt too expensive and it was in a nice location for people who don't want to be in the busy patong area. 2mins walk to the beach and a few restaurants in the area. I recommend Gings. Karon beach is mainly Russian tourist so it was a bit hard to meet other travellers who spoke English.

The rooftop pool was nice and clean. I would suggest the bar area could be updated and have more of a beach club feel.

The staff was great and very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again

THIS HOTEL IS A DUMP, SMELLS LIKE SEWAGE & BLEACH

This hotel is in dire need of renovations and deep cleaning. I'm usually very generous with my reviews as I'm well traveled and I know what to expect for my dollars. I wasn't expecting luxury here ...but this one is a complete dump! I changed rooms the first night because the bedding wasn't changed from previous guests. Ewwww! Thank goodness I always travel with my own set of sheets. My bedding wasn't changes for 4 days, cleaning staff kept rotating the duvet ewwww. Also their idea of views were street transformers. The smell that radiates from the hotel is toxic and the staff acknowledges it but offer no solutions to fix. I sprayed perfume every night just to get thru it. The pipes in both rooms have mildew and the shower spills out to the entire bathroom...And most IMPORTANTLY there was no hot water in my shower but scalding hot water in the sink. The pool is the only saving grace for this hotel and its proximity to the beach. Great views at sunset! Staffing it is intermittent at the pool so bring your own drinks and food! Wifi is horrible in rooms! If you need wifi, pool area is your best bet. Pictures online are deceiving. I've since changed hotels.

No real complaints

Great hotel, smaller room than I expected but we spent all of our time at the beach so didn't need much more. Location is fantastic for beach/move restaurants. Only negative is that it's quite noisy early in the morning, our room backed onto the road that it's in and lots of buses/taxis were coming down and turning around at all times which was a little annoying.

Not worth the price.

We booked a hotel in Patong for a similar price, which was just in another class above Grand Sunset. The rooms and bathroom were cramped, and the hallways and lobby had a terrible smell during our stay. Can't fault the staff though, when we asked for anything it was delivered promptly, like more toiletries and pillows. Our hot water simply stopped working at one point, but they sent a repairman swiftly and it was fixed in an hour.

Great pool and great hotel

Favourite hotel while island hopping. Room and hotel pool are great. Not that close to nightlife but it is only 200baht to get it and it is worth it to stay in such nice place. The shower is also the nicest shower in any hotel I've stayed in in any country!!!

We booked a 2 bedroom suite and it was really nice. The beach was about 50m from the hotel and this hotel really lived up to their name; the sunset view at the pool was amazing. The service was relatively good, with most of the staff capable of understanding & communicating in basic English.

Highly recommend this hotel. It's contemporary and has a fab roof top pool with stunning views. The staff are extremely helpful, your room is cleaned every day, towels are replaced and bed is made up. To conclude, this hotel is good value for money, comfortable and walking distance to the beach. Apart from a cold shower (which is a nice change from the heat) I would definitely come back here and recommend to others.

We went there during low season. Booking was made 4 months earlier and I realize the hotel price drop. When ask for free upgrade , the wants to charge extra 500baht ... Hotel wasn't even full and they can't make the guest happy ... very disappointing... Pool view would be perfect if the hotel next to it roof wast blocking it .... it would b perfect infinity pool .

Nothing sophisticated, but fair enough for the price you pay. Room and bathroom size is just ok it was perfectly clean, towel and linen were nicely fresh. We were provided fresh towels every day as well as shampoo / shower gel. There is a balcony, but overlooking a dirty area, so you won't even seat there. Staff speaks very basic English. There is a speed Wi-Fi and you can also access internet on laptops they provide. The highlight is without doubts the rooftop pool with a bar serving nice drinks. You can watch stunning sunsets there. All in all, great experience given the price we paid!

I'd say the hotel was very clean and the price was more than worth it. got nearby massage and restaurants too. My hubby and I conquered the pool just by ourselves around 9 pm and it looked like we were on a private villa haha.. Their bar closes early though but it's fine we managed to buy outside.:)

We stayed at The Grand Sunset for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and the rooftop pool was great after long days of exploring. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Also very close to the beach. Just walk around a little and you'll find lots to do! Would definitely stay there again!

I did not like this hotel from the start. It had an antiquated safety box with no instructions. Staff was hard to understand when offering assistance and when I tried to use elevator to go to main floor to talk with staff, the elevator would not descend. The location is a little deceiving. It's actually part of a long stretch of building with 4 or 5 hotels connected. My hotel was about 3 or 4 back from the street and the ocean. The condition of the room was not very warm or welcoming. The tiled floor would make creaking sounds wherever I walked. The balcony overlooked some sort of dilapidated apartment building. This was my first time to Phuket and I used some of my time there to look for a better hotel and location to stay next time I go there.

If you're looking for a great place to stay in Karon Beach we would highly recommend this place. Close to the beach, good price and comfortable room.

You're only a 1 minute walk down the drive to the beach, close to massage parlours and food. The perfect place to stay for a vacation in Phuket.

We would stay here again anytime.

Not the best stay for what we paid.

Air con was aweful. They had to come fix it 4 times in 4 days. Would get cold then stop working. The last night of our stay it didn't work at all. Pool was nice, airport transfer cost more to get from the hotel than from a travel booth. They tried to do what they could but failed. Room was clean though.

Lovely rooftop pool, the hotel itself is set back from the road & beach, behind 2-3 other hotels so the outlook is not greate (no beach/sea view) but the rooms were nice, clean and functional. Karon Bay was nice. Not lively for nightlife but good for families.

This is a nice Hotel for a good value. You are at center at Karon Beach, and the Hotel is 200 meter from the beach road, and 220 meter from the beach. Easy to go either left or right to shops and center town.

Beautiful roof top pool

The roof top pool was very enjoyable. The seating was comfortable, the view spectacular, and the service top notch. There is limited food access at the hotel directly(no room service or hotel store) but there are plenty of convenience stores close by. They should not advertise cable TV(even though TV is not a concern on a beach vacation but does come in handy when you have a full rainy day)as they only had 6 channels of which 4 were local and 2 were English and the English channels did not come on until after 9:00 am and shut off after 11:00 pm

Didn't like them not trusting me on departure that is had nothing out if the mini bar. No one in reception and I got chased down the street.

One of the ladies at the front desk had a bad attitude, she always looked unhappy dealing with customers. As someone who has worked in the hotel industry, I wonder why she is working at front desk.

Not so grand.

The room was tiny. The bathroom was tiny and not to mention the mold. Not worth staying here. Just pay the extra and stay someplace better.

Terrible place , don't waste your time

Don't waste your time with this place. The rooms are minuscule, the bathroom is even tinier- I didn't think this could even be possible- damp, dirty and smelly. The staff speak very little or no English and trying to communicate with them is a frustrating ordeal. The English speaking hotel owner/ manager did witness our many frustrating exchanges with his staff but not once did he try to help or intervene in any way. Running water in the rooms is available only during certain times of the day which we only found out about this when we went in for a shower. After just 1 night at this place ( we were originally booked in for 4 nights) we packed our bags and left unable to take anymore. The price is not worth the angst and frustration we had to go through. Oh and if you are brave enough to stay here dont expect a room with a view . Our view was of power lines right in front of our balcony.

Hotel was in a handy location short walk to the beach and shops/restaurants,Tuk this. but from our room the view was only of a narrow drive way full of motorbikes and a big power structure.not like pictures on website. The staff spoke little English but were friendly enough. Room was clean and serviced daily. But the morning we got up to leave we had no water to our room and had to complain, they got it going again pretty quickly but was a bit annoying. When we were in a hurry to leave the guy took forever on end to check the mini bar which we hadn't even touched.

Nice hotel in a great location and at a good price

Great location only 100m or so from the beach. Rooms were a reasonable size and clean. Rooftop pool and bar was a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

4 days in Phuket

I liked that this hotel was across the road from the beach and had a relaxing rooftop pool.
For those reasons it is a great place to have a chill out holiday in the sun.
The hotel is quite far from the airport - don't take one of those airport shuttles if you want a quick ride there. It is 45 minutes by taxi and 2 hours in a shuttle (because the stop to sell you tours)

Good for a couple, not baby friendly

The hotel was good, with great location - many places to shop and eat around, also other amenities as pharmacy, convenience store, spa, touristic agency etc. The breakfast has a nice concept of you choosing the menu among some options, although there are not many options. Service was good, but better when we arrived and they became a bit \"impatient\" by the end of the stay. The room was a good size for a couple, but not for having a baby with you. Although we were informed by hotels.com that they did not provide a crib, it was not stated clearly before we booked. One other thing to mention is that the bath towels were not the newest ones. Even clean, they looked pretty beaten. We would stay there again, but it would NOT be our first choice. I just wish they considered many of their guests will come back to Phuket, so making them love the stay could grant a first option return.

Enjoyed our stay here with just 2 down falls the size of the room being small ( if ever return would up grade in room size) and being at times a bit to far to walk to and fro to the main strip in Karon. I would still recommend this hotel.

the pool was decent with not a lot of people around. the beach is literally across from the hotel. Not much to do at night after dinner. Dirty linens are several occasions which was not pleasant. Staff was nice but I would not come back
