Breakfast was average at best. Room was spacious but had problems with bad smells coming through air conditioning. Staff in pool bar were nice but other staff came across as rude. Many rules to follow at the resort. I wouldn’t stay here again. Very basic not sure why it is a resort more of a hotel. I would rate it 3/5.

I visited Old Phuket Hotel in 2017 and was disappointed to see a decline in service and quality during my recent stay in 2025. This has always been my favourite hotel, so it saddens me to share these concerns:

My room was full of mosquitoes upon check-in, its not surprising but all the doors of the room were all opened on check in.

NOT HALAL FRIENDLY - Despite requesting vegetarian scrambled eggs. I was served non vegetarian on both January 7th and 8th, wasting a lot of food.

We were given only one key card for the room, which was inconvenient for me and my husband.

The blanket in the room was too warm for the hot weather and sparked when removing the cover.

I already shared this feedback with the hotel during my stay but unfortunately they had other priorities.

I hope the hotel can address these issues and improve its quality and service as it has been my favourite and go to hotel in Phuket.

Best part about this hotel is the location! Easy beach access beautiful beach to the front of hotel & an array of restaurants and bars & temple with night market to the rear.. hotel is getting old and tired could do with a refresh, noisy old fridge in the room and air conditioning unit that sounded like an aircraft taking off, and alas on the last day they tried to sting me for a beach towel in which of course i hadnt taken, the maid had cleaned away and not refreshed … good hotel for the price location even better! But not brilliant facilities

Convenient location and well designed spaces. Pool is beautiful but could do with expanded evening hours for dip as weather is quite humid and suitable for night swims.The gym and ping pong combined room should allow windows to be opened particularly as AC is off or not working most of the time. Having combined spaces restricts use of ping pong table if someone is walking the treadmill. The AC in our room was very noisy even at low fan - no choice but to have it on at night as room became stuffy without air. We tried sleeping with balcony doors open but mossies made it difficult plus it was more warm and humid. Minor hiccups in otherwise beautiful stay. Due to pandemic its a panned down breakfast and room service and that is understandable for the amount of guests. Most of the shops are just beginning to reopen getting ready for the return of tourists. We found it peaceful,
refreshing and lovely place as always. Will stay again.

Deluxe pool access room was extremely large and comfortable, bed was hard but staff were happy to assist by adding a mattress topper. The pool area infront of block 3 (especially rooms 3101 and 3102) needs to be cleaned better as water had a slimy film on it on a few days, which caused me to slip on steps and cut my knee and hurt my foot but I will commend management on offering assistance to take me to hospital and cover expenses, which I declined so manager Dan attended to cleaning, disinfecting and bandaging my knee himself, which I was very grateful of. Security guards at Beach end were extremely friendly and helpful with advice, it was such a pleasure to be greeted by them everyday and have a little chat. Location of hotel is great, with restaurants, 2 mini marts and a few shops and spas in the lane leading from beach end to hotel.

Staffs need to have more training how to treat and take care of the guests while check in and check out ,and also lack of skills to communicate like the others 4 hotel stars do - Need to improve. Breakfast taste is very ordinary and boring. I have to ask more food to replenish due to there is nothing left if you com to have breakfast late.

The room size is large but thats about it. The mattress hard needed topper. Airon made rattling noise needed repairing, condensation from aircon dripped onto the floor needed towels to mop up. Into the package added a bath which you could not use as it need a step to get into it (boxed in) didn't try it as I gathered if I had to get out of the bath after soaking in it it would be very hard to get out as 2 windows surrounding and a small edge very dangerous.

Love the privacy from the street, and the fact no traffic goes past the Sino wing at Old Phuket Resort. Rooms are made up daily, beautiful breakfasts, close to shops and beach, and 2 great pools within the property. Staff are delightful

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at The old Phuket resort.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast buffet is excellent a great choice of food.
Right on the beach only a few minutes walk away.
Given it was low season they also gave us an upgrade to a jacuzzi suite which was such a lovely surprise.
Thank you so much for our beautiful stay here we will be back!

Now I know why its called the \"OLD\" Phuket. I could have been happy there but reception staff and especially the Management team are so unprofessional that I would never go back.
I know they advertise themselves as the land of smiles but they are not genuine smiles, Phuket has got to realise that they have got to look after customers as the place has gone way down hill in the last few years and customers are now so unhappy that they now go to Vietnam, Cambodia as the service is so much better - A note, if you are going to Phuket, go to Kamala as the service is much better.

Lovely Old Colonial Hotel

Hotel is quaint and old colonial. Great location from beach and restaurants. My room was lovely. Very large including the bath. We did have a frustrating issue with check in due to misunderstanding and language barrier. Our bellman was great and overall the staff was, as usual, wonderful. Pool area could use a facelift.

Really nice hotel near the beach

We stayed 3 nights and it was fabulous ! The room was so clean, the bathroom was perfect and there is a king size bed in the room.
I really recommend this hotel, it's near the sea, there are several restaurants in less than 5 min walk and the hotel staff is helpful. They booked for me the airport arrival and departure pickup and we booked a boat excursion ( koh phi phi ) with them. The only this that I regret is the breakfast ( I didn't really like it ) Thanks a lot !

The perfect budget resort

We stayrd in private jacuzzi suite. The jacuzzi is in the front walked courtyard and is not heated. It quickly warms naturally. The first time you use it you might need to empty and refill to flush out dust but it stays clean thereafter. Super comfortable bed. Many power sockets including some universal ones. Outdoor shower increases the tropical resort feeling. Don't worry no one can see you. Very good breakfast including bacon cooked properly and egg station. Caters for Chinese, French, German, US and UK breakfast styles. 100m to the beach past a group of restraints, cafes,convenience stores, massage and tailor shops. You never need to leave the resort for a great holiday. Also minutes to local stores. Excellent friendly staff who speak enough English.

Upon arrival we were greeted at the nice looking reception and as we were early and the room not ready we were ushered towards the shopping area.

Once we got our room (serene wing) the room was very nice and spacious, The bed was incredibly hard though and I found the floor which was painted rather than tiled slippery with shoes on

The room had a balcony overlooking the pool which was very pleasing to the eye, however you need to use the blinds and curtain if you require privacy in your room as the other block is directly in front of you.

The WiFi was probably the worst I've experience in a very long time. The connection kept dropping and even when connected simple things like email didn't always work

Breakfast had a wide variety of foods (English, Russian, Chinese etc) and was useful as it did not mean having to walk off site to eat

During our stay we had some guest that were quite loud (slamming doors and shouting at 4am). When I complained to the staff there lack of English made me wonder if I was being understood.
This was on our penultimate night so whether they sorted or not I will never know

Overall, I had a good stay and after walking around and seeing the alternatives I feel we had great value for money.

Tip: For lunch/ dinner go outside the vehicle entrance turn left and head towards the elephant cafe.and restaurant next door. Much better food for the money.

check in: the booker need to show print reservation paper when you checking in.
rooms: good deco. but the certain not very clear, there are some blood on the certain.
bedding: one cockroach on the bed in the first night we stay.
the bedding sheet are not very clean in the second night stay
another two nights are good.
staff: staff in the reception was not very friendly.
food: very fine.

Just Ok,

Was actually looking forward to staying somewhere different this time in thailand. I had 2 Rooms booked one with 2Adults and 1child and the other 1 adult and and 1 child. They seem to think at this hotel that its fine for Grandma with hip problems and my 11 year old son to sleep in the same bed even though I had booked a single bed and a double bed. They wanted to charge us an extra 800baht( $32au) per night to make up another bed. I was not happy about this. Second day there the air conditioner started to leak through the vents into our suitcases, Then through the smoke alarm. Although this was fixed they just tapped dry the smoke alarm and put it back up not tested. Reception staff were not helpful and understood very little english.

Room was musty smelling, furniture was stained, floors were also dirty and stained, BAD wifi connection in room. The staff took over 20 minutes to exchange towels at the front desk. And the worst of it, the staff gave us (two girls) a conjoined room WITH NO LOCK and on the other side were males! The only plus was it is across the street from the beach.

The location of this hotel is great, its a walking distance to the busy side of patong but also far enough to not be disturbed by the noise. We only stayed there for one night so didnt really get the chance to use any facilities. The breakfast could be better. Very limited options for breakfast..

No Thai Hospitality Here

This is the 3rd hotel we stayed in on our family Thailand trip and hands down the worst experience. This hotel needs a major lesson on customer service and treating guests with respect. The assistant manager, Kim, is especially very rude. We had issues with our key card for 2 days and it was a pain getting anything fixed. My husband really had to throw a fit and demanded that our room be changed, but it was as if they were doing us a favor by giving us rooms that smelled like mold. They eventually gave us a room with pool access and the manager apologized for Kim's behavior, but this was a very bad experience. When you pay for a resort to relax on your vacation, this is not what you want to deal with. Please avoid this hotel because there are much better options. This is not the Thai hospitality we were accustomed to.

Nice hotel close to Karon Beach

We stayed at The Old Phuket for 2 nights after a week at The Nai Harm. We wanted a couple of days in a busier area to finish off our stay. The hotel is very handy to Karon Beach and to a lot of good restaurants and other shops. We ate at a couple of great places just outside the hotel back gate, cocktails were 99 Baht - bonus! The pool is great with plenty of lounges and a bar that made great cocktails. There were rooms that opened up onto their own section of the pool and if I was to go again, I'd get one of those. I got a good rate on a room but it was a cheaper one in the older part of the hotel. The bed was excruciatingly hard - very uncomfortable. We didn't complain though as we were only there for 2 nights. Parts of the hotel are a bit tired but it was good value for money. The breakfast was very nice too.

We had not stayed at Karon Beach before and were looking for a reasonably priced hotel. I must say we were pleasantly surprised with the Old Phuket. We had a Deluxe Pool Access room which was fantastic, nice and big and you could just walk our balcony into the pool. The staff were all beautiful people who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was included which was nice, a mixture of European and Thai food. All in all we will definitely be back again.

The Old Phuket Charm

Hotel ambiance has a mixed of modern and old heritage charm feel. It is conveniently located with amenities and beach within walking distance. Massage outlets, restaurants and convenient shops are just outside the hotel. Pool is perfect for lap swim. Enough open space within the hotel ground so one does not feel congested. Staff service is friendly. Nice size and comfortable bed. Breakfast standard can be better improved but decent enough. A peaceful stay for us. Overall, a value for money and good hotel for a short holiday.

Great Hotel to just get away from everything

Our room had direct access to the swimming pool. This is well worth it. My Fiancé and I loved it.
Beach and restaurants are close. Hotel is well kept up and clean. Room was large and A/C worked great.

Issues:
Bellman did not help us with our luggage upon arrival.
Front desk would not let us check in early. Made us wait in the heat for an hour and a half.
Taxi to the airport or to other cities take 30-45 minutes to pick you up from the hotel.

Very clean hotel and very close to the beach.

The hotel is in a great location, but of course, when we first arrived we did not know exactly where everything was.
If you walk toward the beach and then make a right, that street will curve to the right and that is where all the action, bars, restaurants and everything is.
However, don't buy tours to the Phi Phi Islands at the hotel. Instead on the street mentioned above you will see lots of agencies selling the same tours MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper. The tour we took we paid $100. The exactly same tour at street agencies went for $30. We paid the $100 because we were in a hurry and did not know where the street agencies were.
It happened to us before, but a few years ago luckily we ran into the street tours first.

The hotel was just perfect From the moment we arrived the staff where lovely and attended to our every need with a smile.
The room was large over looking the swimming pools
when we wanted to have a cool drink the fridge was well stocked with drinks every day.

Good - Pool access room was very nice with jacuzzi jets at your doorstep. Toilet design was unique.
Nearby the hotel are plenty of dining options and massage parlours.
2 minutes away from Karon beach.

Bad -
Room floor was stained and very slippery at certain areas.
Some of the pillowcases had a weird smell.
Power trip one night.
Staff at breakfast refused to lend us an umbrella to get to our room when it was raining heavily (restaurant to serene wing is not sheltered).

Our second stay here, and the hotel is starting to look a little worn. The hotel is in a great location, only 5 minute walk to the beach. If you leave out of the rear entrance there are some fab places to eat (Elephant Cafe) and a great family friendly bar, Roadhouse.

Charming, character hotel in a fantastic location.

Right from the beginning we were welcomed with friendly Thai hospitality. The staff were always willing to help. Security was refreshingly honest without being overbearing. They made us feel safe and free to enjoy ourselves without worrying about our safety or the security of our belongings. They were also good for a laugh as we limbo'd under the entry gate on our way in and out of the hotel on another great evening. We loved the traditional Thai colonial charm and character of the place and especially enjoyed the outdoor shower in our Deluxe Villa room. It's not a 5 star modern hotel with all the bells and whistles. But if you want a comfortable, clean, stylish place to stay with fantastic access to the beach and Karon town, then you can't go past The Old Phuket. We'll be back.

Terrible front desk service at check-in. The ladies at the counter behave like they would much rather be elsewhere. Breakfast is a rip-off at THB500. Suggest dining at more pleasant cafes just outside the hotel.

Hotel compound is charming and pool is pleasant. However dirty room with visible dust and stains on bed. Location is along Karon beach which is rather quiet and lifeless.

First they denied we had paid for daily buffet breakfast even though it was in the email & they made us sit at reception for nearly an hour while they decided whether to honor it or not...they did reluctantly. Then they charged us 500BHT to have a second room key even though there was 3 people in the room.Our first room had the aircon permanently set at 25 and it smelt of urine. The pillows, towels and sheets were grey and mould stained, and smelt awful. They wouldn't allow us extra pillows (or new ones that weren't hard and smelly) but did put a bed topper on the rock hard mattress- unfortunately the first one was covered in fresh growing mould but a second housekeeper came in thankfully and told the cleaner that that was unacceptable! They moved us the second day to a room where the aircon worked and was slightly less smelly so by having it set a low as possible as much as possible and buying a few air fresheners it was bearable. (We slept on our plane neck pillows) The grounds were ok, broken boards around the pool and it's only open until 7, the septic system was quite smelly a lot of the time. The buffet breakfast was good and the staff surprised our daughter with cupcakes and a song on her birthday which was lovely & we given vouchers to use at the local restaurants. There is a nice patrolled beach across the road,lots of restaurants,bars 7/11,atms,souvenir and massage shops within walking distance.

Traveling from Tasmania, Australia we were exhausted by the time we arrived at the hotel, although the staff were incredible in accommodating us. The rooms are beautiful, we stayed in a pool access room and it was great! Great poolside bar also. The hotel is right next to Karon Beach and many restaraunt sand shops in easy access! I would definitely recommend!

Very Appealing Resort in Karon Beach

This was our first hotel on our first ever trip to Thailand. Without much else to compare it to, we definitely enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very pleasant. The lobby is gorgeous. Room was very nice with a great shower. Pool was comfortable. The travel desk had lots of options for sight seeing and set us up with taxis (not cheap but most convenient way to get around). Highly recommend seeing the Big Buddah. From the mountain you can see half of Phuket.

The hotel really had everything we needed, so any complaints were pretty minor. Wifi only worked during off-peak hours. The pool bar food was pedestrian, however the breakfast was fantastic. We booked a Terrace room with a garden view because we loved the traditional look. Upon a late night arrival they \"upgraded\" us to a modern room with a pool view but didn't tell us. When we got to the room we were too jet lagged and tired to care. We booked an extra night for a cheaper room, and they let us stay in the same room so that made up for it in the end.

Not sure I would recommend Karon Beach of all the places in Phuket. Beach was a bit dirty, and most of the patrons were older Europeans. If you're set on Karon Beach the Old Phuket is a great place to stay.

A very big resort with a big size rooms. Swimming pool is small. Very good breakfast. A short walk from the beach, many restaurants, shops and massage parlors. Overall pleasant stay and worth the money i pay.

Fab resort hotel less than 5 minutes from Karon beach. Shops and restaurants are plentiful, the pool and other facilities are great, and Patong is just 15 minutes away by taxi or tuk tuk. Catch a ride from the road on the beach side of the resort rather than from the lobby, the views on the ocean road are beautiful.

Beautiful hotel

Had a lovely stay at The Old Phuket.
Beautiful grounds, excellent location, our room was very comfy and welcoming after a long flight.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Perhaps could do with improving the Wi-Fi but there are so many free Wi-Fi facilities at nearby restaurants it wasn't really much of a problem.
Would love to return - fantastic trip!

The fixtues need replacing and the wallsneed redecorating, other than that everything else was spot on with nice eateries very close by and access close to the beach

Location, location, location

We booked at a really good price and then we were upgraded to a pool access room, so blessed. Straight into a splash pool just perfect. Breakfast was great, lots of choice.
Shopping, restaurants around the hotel were great too. Massages were cheap and really good.

Old area a bit tired but new area is good\n

We stayed in the old part of the hotel in the terraces. The room was old but somewhat traditional.We had a hand held shower over a large bath indoors and an outdoor shower which was fairly well screened off from rooms above. There were 2 chairs on the front small veranda which looked at the walk through area of the hotel which led to the beach, found this a bit disappointing cos we thought we had booked a pool view area, this was our error not that of the hotel. We purchased the daily buffet which was ok and had a reasonable variety of foods. Our friends stayed in the new part of the hotel and they had a ground floor room with a veranda which allowed direct access into the pool. This room was nice and would recommmend that these are the pick of the room to book as the overlook the pool, was pretty and it's great to have your own access into the pool

Hotel was nice, staff were good. We had superior room with pool access. It had nice sitting area at pool but always in shade. Room was really big and clean. Bathroom was excellent. Aircon a little noisy. There are only a few sun loungers on site and if you do not get up really early you have no chance of having one. Breakfast is good. Some nice restuarants outside. Nice beach across the road. Would stay again.

A fairly basic resort

This is a fairly basic resort. If you can get it at a very good price then it is worth it otherwise I would not really recommend it. I personally would say that it is worth about £40 GBP max per night with breakfast. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. Staff were OK but not overly friendly. Overall a basic resort with a lot of Russian visitors to this resort and this locality generally.

Feel it's not worth the price ...

Stayed in pool view & pool side rooms.
Pool side room was pretty cool as you can access the pool which is just outside the balcony. Hotel ambiance was pretty relaxing and retro.
There is a gym and library, but not air conditioned.

On the down side:
- nothing really to shout about with regards to free breakfast
- flooring in the room can be pretty slippery
- no toothbrush and toothpaste is provided
- one particular front desk staff is quite impatient when i was inquiring about some extra charges incurred

Only stayed two days to relax as the final leg of a two week holiday was woken up at 6am by power cautioning in and out and lift alarms going of.. This happened again the following day but at a reasonable hour thank god. The toilet was blocked the first day but fixed quickly. Pool bar food was great but hard to get a spot by the pool. Breaky was pretty good but they pack up a bit early. Rooms are huge and bathrooms are amazing but beds are rather firm.

Loved this hotel! Most staff was friendly and attentive, breakfast was amazing and restaurant options were very good, although it would be nice if purchases at the restaurants outside the gate could be charged to the room. Housekeeping did a great job. NYE gala was spectacular and prices were extremely reasonable. The only complaint is that there needs to be serious maintenance done to the pool deck. A plank broke as I was walking, and I was injured on our last afternoon there. Still having issues nearly a week later. Management did very little to assist me, and would not get any medical personnel on the premesis to see me. They were aware and offered no help, no services, no anything. Not a great end to an otherwise wonderful stay.

We loved our stay here!

We loved our stay here! This was the first of 3 places we stayed on our honeymoon & we had the jacuzzi suite. It was the perfect blend of authentic Thai feel, yet nice enough amenities and service for a great trip. Both pools are nice and you can order food and drinks. The room was SO CLEAN. They helped is book 2 tours and a ride to our next hotel easily. There are restaurants, shops, massages and the beach right outside the hotel. We would stay here again.

Quiet hotel, need some improvements

WiFi is pretty much useless I had to use my cell phone data. Karon beach is away from hustle and bustle if nice and quiet is your thing. However restaurants and shops are in walking distance. Nice swimming pool. Had some bed bugs problem. Good sized bathroom. Should place a couple of extra power outlets near the bed.

Great location!

We were very impressed with our stay here. We arrived at lunch time thinking we would have to wait until 2pm to check into our room but No! We went straight to our room which was great after traveling all night. The location is perfect. Outside the Hotel entrance is a street of restaurants with delicious food. We ate at nearly all of them. Also in between the restaurants is Thai massage parlours, we went to 3 of them, all good. Across the road was the beach with all the extra water activities you can do plus the friendly rent an umbrella man! The breakfast and dinning area was very lovely and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The only thing we found annoying was early in the morning you could hear the security man talking on his radio as he went down the hallway.

We loved this spot!

The facilities are very pleasant and well maintained. Nice gardens, everything very clean. The rooms in the Sino wing have wonderful character and we also had a nice small terrace for sitting outside. The staff is fantastic, so friendly and welcoming, always ready with a big, warm smile. We enjoyed the breakfast, which presented lots of choice and some changes from day to day. We were also delighted to find that this hotel is so close to the beach and many food adventures.

Relaxing, luxurious and romantic getaway

We booked a 4 night stay in Private Jacuzzi room in the Sino Wing to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. After reading many reviews I began to think we should have requested a change to a Pool Access room in the more modern serene wing because there had been negative comments about renovations in the Sino Wing however when we arrived they had been completed and the accommodation was perfect.
We did have an issue with the tap handle in the bathtub coming out in my hand when running a bath on our first day (water was pouring out the tap and we couldn't turn it off), however one phone call to reception and they had a maintenance man there in minutes who had the tap replaced within a few minutes so no complaint there. The only issue was the fact that by the 3rd night the mattress on the bed was feeling a little too firm, but then that seems to be a common issue with accommodation across Asia.
Breakfast was very good, a nice variety of food, helpful and friendly wait staff and the best omelette/egg station I have found yet on my travels through Asia.
The restaurants and massage places on the little street going to the beach are all quite good (we can highly recommend the Butterfly Bistro for good food & great service), and the lovely Karon Beach is only a short walk down that street and across the road.
Overall it was a wonderfully enjoyable way to relax and be pampered a little for our anniversary and we will definitely stay again when we return to Phuket.

Spacious hotel set on beautiful grounds.

A beautiful hotel that was quiet and peaceful. We have always stayed in Patong,so this was a welcome change from all the noise and hassle usually associated with Patong. We stayed in a deluxe pool view room in the Serene wing. Everything about this hotel is beautiful from rooms to the food. The staff at this hotel are so polite and helpful I cannot speak highly enough about them. They are to be commended. The only minor complaint I have are the beds and pillows. I sleep on a firm bed at home and have slept on many a hard bed in Patong but these beds go way beyond firm. They are rock hard to the point that it hurts to sleep on your side. Hotel owners or whoever really need to invest in new pillows. I found it really hard to get comfortable as you have two pillows each, both of which are old, flat and lumpy. Apart from that, I could not fault this hotel and would stay there again and recommend it to others.
