What a lovely hotel . Clean and a 6 minute walk to the beach . The pool is wonderful and with cool refreshing clean water . The breakfast buffet is wonderful and the restaurant food is very good and fresh . The drinks and pool food are cheap and really good. Try the kabob for 150 baht ( about $5) . Highly recommend

I have stayed at this property twice now in a pool access room and will return on future visits. Service was amazing and Hotel was exactly what I needed. The breakfast was very good will a good variety of foods. I made the most of happy hour and enjoyed my room by the pool. The staff could not have been more helpful and I felt acknowledged each time I would walk through reception area. I can highly recommend Chanalai Hillside Resort. I was with my good friend on her first visit to Phuket and she thoroughly enjoyed the Resort and the location of the Hotel. Everything we need was closely.

Blood stained sheets that you have to ask twice to be changed, shower that doesn’t regulate its temperature (so you’ll be freezing and burning within 10 seconds) and meat cooked on the same pan as vegan/vegetarian food - with no cleaning in between! Absolutely would never visit again. The only upside this hotel has is its location.

Size of the beds and cleanliness of the room was a big, big plus. Reception staff were incredibly helpful their English is very good too.

Only a couple of comments which are in no way complaints. The rooftop pool needs to be renovated and is a bit dated. And the room (No. 3407), only thing was the plug in the shower must be clogged as the drainage was poor, and the generator on the balcony pumped out very hot air so it wasn’t possible to stay out there too long.

Our stay at Chanalai was great! Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Any problems were dealt with straight away. Karon Beach was only 5mins away from the hotel which was great. There is shops right outside the hotel and restaurants also if i need to do activities there is a lady with great prices with very good activities to do. They had a rooftop pool which was lovely to see the sunset. In general the hotel was very clean however they did sometimes forget to give towels etc. Overall was a good stay and would recommend others to try Chanalai Hillside.

This was my second stay at this hotel, and it is a great place to stay. The rooms are large, and the bathrooms are super spacious. And very clean. The pools are large and well maintained. The staff is attentive and friendly.

Arrived at hotel and had a nice warm welcome by reception. Was taken personally to room and show all amenities. Room appeared recently refurbished and was very clean. Bed was a little firm for my liking but was huge. Nice little elephant made out of towels was left on our bed. Mini bar was stocked and reasonably priced. Late night snacks isn’t going to cost you. Restaurant was again reasonably priced and clean and tidy. Buffet breakfast if not included is worth paying 200 baht although asking for bacon and it never appearing was a little annoying. Pool bar had good food and they had happy hour from 1200, two for one on beers, cocktails and soft drinks. Pool and pool area was clean. The hotel is well position with a 5 min walk into the main entertainment area. Overall I was very impressed, really good value for money.

I had a great stay. The check-in was great - the front desk staff is very friendly. Someone even walked me to my room. The room was very large, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was huge, with a tub and a separate shower, even a separate area, with a door, for the toilet! Bath robes are a nice touch for a hotel at this price. Large balcony. There are 2 pools, the one on the first floor is simply gigantic, and there is another on the roof with nice views.
It's walkable to the beach, though I had a scooter. A couple of good restaurants very close.
Overall, excellent value and highly recommended!

Really nice, relaxing and generally quiet hotel. There is quite a lot to do near the hotel, Karon Beach is great and the rooftop pool at the hotel is the best for catching the sun. The bed in the room was absolutely massive, which was very nice.

The only thing I would say is the service was pretty slow. There was a couple times we didn't risk having lunch before trips, just in case it didn't come in time. But we found that service in Thailand was generally quite slow.

The hotel was very pretty. Super helpful service taking our luggage from the taxi to the lobby with welcome treats and cold tea upon our arrival. They helped take our things up to our hotel room and they gave us a quick tour of the room. The hotel is about a 10 min walk from Karon beach with little shops along the way. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet place to relax in Phuket away from the crazy of the city.

cant beat chanalai. been to phuket 4 times and this was the best resort we have stayed in for price location. breakfast was good staff were so friendly and very helpful housekeeping were on the ball and very good at keeping rooms clean good place to bring the kids. pool was great will be back

Terrible service - no care for guests

We stayed for 3 nights in the hotel. First night we arrived late (approx 1am) and check in was fine, we called before to ensure we could check in this late. The only issue we had was that we had been put in a twin room when we had booked a double room, we mentioned to reception who said the hotel was full and change in the morning. This wasn’t too much of an issue and we went back down in the morning.

When we went down, they said okay we will change you at 2pm, so again no problem. At 2pm, we came to reception, they said please empty our original room, we had already packed up but there was no offer to help with bags etc. We waited at reception for around 15 mins and then were given another key. This was a double room as booked, however there were ants in the room around the fridge and coffee making facilities. We told reception and they said they would send someone. 30 mins passed and no one came so I got a cleaner myself and she wiped the ants off the wall - but only into the room and then left... we decided we would clear it up ourselves, however ants were in the room for the remainder of the stay as they were getting in through bathroom tiles.

All in all, there was no attentive service to help us, we were made to feel bad about raising these issues as the hotel staff were busy, but I find the issues we had not acceptable for the price and standard.

Breakfast was distinctly average and the restaurant itself was extremely hot. Wouldn’t stay again, poor value.

Nice hotel, clean/spacious/modern rooms, big bar/restaurant and massive beds! The pool is a good size & there was usually sun loungers free most days.
Location is slightly out the way but a short 5-15min walk to several bars/restaurants & about 10mins to the nearest beach. 200/300 Baht will get you to Karon/Kata in a taxi.

The big let down was the staff; wrong food orders, food took an age to come & all came at different times. Staff weren’t interested & would talk to one another without acknowledging you. I tried to book an airport transfer & was told to go talk to a taxi outside as it was cheaper. I said I would rather booked by the hotel (pay extra but be sure it was booked) I was told they wouldn’t do it & I was to go outside, finally I spoke to a taxi directly. Long waits at the bar even when it was empty as only ever one member of staff & understandably cocktails take time. Staff would watch the lady at the bar from the empty restaurant rather than help her serve.

All very minor things but accumulatively they were very annoying, I think it was mainly disappointment as the hotel was nice, location was ok, food was pretty good so if the staff had been a bit more attentive/engaging (this should be the easy part) it would have been great! We got a last minute deal at 50% off for 4 nights which was reasonable, I would have been disappointed if I had paid the full asking price having stayed at other hotels in the area.

That said it’s a good base, nice room, good pool

I had low expectations due to the very competitive price, but I was wrong. This place is excellent (pool access room). Recently renovated room, super cold A/C, huge bed (a little firm), NO bugs or critters in the room ever, large clean pool, great breakfast, especially if you're Asian. Tasty bacon, tomatoes and omelettes available. No baked beans mushrooms or snags. 10 min walk from Karon beach with a cheap restaurant across the road (but full of smokers). The WiFi was poor but the cable internet in the room was much faster than my one in Australia. The staff were warm, and truly went out of their way to be helpful and make your stay memorable. From the security guy outside, to the girls and guys at breakfast, to hotel management. All were 100%. Overall, I would highly recommend it this place.

Not what we expected.....let down by staff.

The first room we checked into was not clean, however as we checked in late we requested to be moved in the morning. The new room was apparently an upgrade however the shower drain was blocked therefore when showering, the water was by your ankles.
The staff cannot speak even basic English and therefore simple questions are lost in translation.
On the day of checkout, we approached the desk where the front staff was sleeping. We said we are checking out, he phoned housekeeping to say check mini bar, it came back that we had used two waters and on the card it said 2 for 45 baht. However we paid two days before, he was trying to charge us 90 baht and said we did not pay, when housekeeping called back he fell asleep.
We paid to complain later as we had a taxi booked to the airport.
Facilities are poor, no one really eats in the restaurant as overpriced, however if you step outside you will have access to everything at a fraction of the cost I.e. mineral water at hotel for 45 baht or the shop opposite for 7 baht?
If you are staying in the room with pool access, some tourists, especially from China have no real common sense, they swim until 11 or 12 at night, Despite sign saying 7pm however they are loud. What's annoying is that the reception staff do nothing despite the close proximity.
Tv does not work, housekeeping are good however the sheets are not washed but that's not their fault.
And the hotel actually think guests are stupid by offering them excursions for full price.

Nice staff. Clean room. Food in hotel (relatively) over priced but at least the local cuisine I had was good. Awesome restaurant next door at great prices. Bathroom products are aweful so I suggest you bring your own. Pool simple but nice. It is very much a middle of the road place but I had no complaints at the price. If you are budget conscious and not a complainer this place will work fine. If not, “pony up” and go elsewhere.

Hotel staff were nice and helpful but that is the only good thing about this place. Fluctuating water pressure and tempurature in the shower has you dancing from boiling hot to freezing cold. Food is woefull even the coffee was undrinkable. And each night about 300 screaming chinese tourists come in and at 8 am 300 screaming chinese tourists leave once they have finished destroying the buffet area like they hadnt eating for a month. AVOID at all costs

The hotel is in a great location just a couple of hundred metres from the beach and Karon Beach walk street with markets and lots of restaurants, it has fantastic facilities and very attentive staff. We have never been so well looked after as we were here!
We were almost put off booking due to the comments about the window in the bathroom and lack of privacy but this was not an issue because there is a blind on the window. We just closed the blind.
They have a great buffet breakfast, hotel is clean and modern and we can't fault them in any way. We will happily stay here again next time we are in Thailand and have already recommended to friends and family.

It's a clean hotel, with good amenities. The location is good, about a 10 minute walk to the beach, with a few restaurants and a convenience store within 5 minutes. The staff is very friendly, which I found common in Southeast Asia. However, there are a few things that I really disliked about the property, which results in a low rating.

1- All of the wifi access points are named the same, which makes it very difficult to connect to the right one. In addition, you have to re-login every time you return to the property. (However, if you have wifi issues, they have an on-site IT support guy who knows his stuff, which really impressed me)

2- They advertise \"24 hour airport shuttle is available\". But they mean that they'll call a taxi for you. The cost comes out of your pocket, and they don't offer anything other than just calling it for you, so there's no real value here, even though they advertise it. It's misleading at best.

3- When I checked out, I asked the front desk clerk to call a taxi for me to go to the airport. Instead, they called a shared shuttle, which took 45 minutes longer to get to the airport than a taxi would have. In addition, the driver was on a conference call the entire time, constantly muting and unmuting her phone as she was driving. She also decided to touch up her makeup during the trip, although she only did that while we were stopped at a light.
