The staff were very nice but even the \"hotel\" rooms are hostel quality. Elevator under repair so stairs not optional. Rooms are very, very basic and very, very small. There is no sound proofing so noise from public areas reaches your room. Breakfast was very basic, very little choice, crowded and noisy. This \"hotel\" room was way overpriced. Would not stay again. This is a great hostel but if you are looking for a hotel, spend your money elsewhere. We did appreciate using the luggage room as arrival was before check in time and we were able to use it again after check out. The proximity to the Moomin Museum and to the train station is great.

Great if you like cleaning bathroom floors.

This hotel has a lot of plusses - great location, friendly service, comfortable bed. BUT there is one big reason I can't give it 5 stars -- the bathroom.
Maybe you enjoy cleaning the bathroom floor after every shower, then it won't be a problem for you. The bathroom is a \"wet bath\" without good drainage or ventilation. When you shower, the whole floor will be flooded with water and without ventilation (no windows, no fans) it will stay wet. The hotel provides a large squeegee so that you can clean it after your shower....but quite frankly, I don't want to clean the floor right after showering, especially not in a hotel. Without ventilation my towels also didn't dry between showers (24 hours time). So the bathroom is a big negative. The rest was really good.

Phenomenal location, walking distance from the train station and Nokia arena. Used the Hotel. The room was good for the price paid.

Sadly requested the room service but it didn't happen. The reception staff were friendly and educational, and taught us a few common phrases.

The bathroom had great water pressure and heat, and the wet room drainage was sufficient. Beds were soft and duvets were insulating.

Loved my stay in the hotel portion. The room was tiny, but under bed storage was plentiful, and there were lots of comfortable places to sit in the common areas. One star left off for facilities because the elevator does not go to every floor and I had to carry my heavy bag up and down the stairs. If you require the elevator make sure you inform them before your stay so they can put you on a floor with elevator service. The location is close to the train and bus stations, also close to the Nokia Arena, which is what I was in town for. Highly recommend for anyone on a budget, but also in general for anyone who wants a nice place to sleep during their visit to Tampere.

Well-functioning modern hostel in the city center

I stay at this hostel regularly on my family visits to Tampere and am always delighted with the excellent, friendly service, good beds, modern well-functioning common kitchen and, affordable pricing for a decent accommodation within a walking distance from any point of interest in the city centre. The only thing that could be improved at times is cleanliness, which is not always as good as it could be.

Rooms very small and cramped, especially twin rooms which had no windows. The double room was so small you could barely get down both sides of the bed! The weather was very hot and the air conditioning was useless. The heat was unbearable. We asked for a fan but none was provided.The towells provided were small and very thin. The lift did not service the second floor so we had to carry cases up the stairs. The hotel is not in the centre of Tampere and a bus/good walk takes you to the main street.
On the plus side, the beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were very clean. continental breakfast was good.

Very good stay, quite charming independent hotel.

Stayed in hotel on the first floor rather than the hostel. Great compact room and ensuite. Very clean and light. Good mattress and slept very well. Common area with kitchen facilities and ironing board really and convivial. Breakfast buffet across the road at Tullin Sauna was very good and varied. Location was just a few minutes walk from train station. Tampere is very easy to navigate and everything is really within walking distance. Would definitely recommend as alternative to larger chain hotels.

Meet interesting and well traveled people

If you don’t mind sharing with other travelers and enjoying their company this may not be for you. I found the experience welcoming and different. Even met a chap who was cycling the continents. Wow a bike and couple off satchels. Hat off to this young man. If your staying for more than two nights would recommend trying to get a single room.

faulty locks on room door and bathroom door. almost got locked out of my room/inside the bathroom multiple times. hardly ever anybody at reception if I needed help. check in was on the opposite building and I had to drag my suitcase over the entrance steps.

Good size rooms and kitchen; reception area is across street from rooms; close to train and bus stations; lack of hot water; refrigerator smelly with people’s abandoned food; kitchen needs more/better resources so people can adequately wash their plates/cups, etc. (pots, utensils, cutting boards grimy/greasy)

nice stay, but staff needs to be trained in dealing with frequent travelers. price service level/room quality did not match up in comparing hotel prices and hotels attached to hostels. don't expect any special wishes to be fulfilled - all seems to be according a rule-book, and exceptions are not acceptable. It's possible to find a real hotel in tampere for the same price. but please, improve the service for frequent travelers, which pay hotel prices!

Trendy, clean and relaxing

This is probably the best hostel I've stayed at so far. I stayed in an ensuite room on their \"hotel\" floor. They did a great job adopting a space that seems like an office building to have rooms. My room (scandinavian design) was like a pod in the middle corridor of the space so unfortunately did not have a window but right outside of it there was a nice hanging chair next to the heater and a view outside so no window in the room itself wasn't a biggie. The kitchen area right next to it was also really cosy and clean. I generally don't spend time in common areas but since it was really quiet during the time I was there that's where I spent most my time. There's only 1 small induction plate stove so this could be tough if a lot of people wanted to cook but this was not the case this time. Other than that the kitchen is very well equipped and even has free tea and coffee!
The room had a hair dryer and a small (good) selection of books you could read.
By the lobby there's also a small library and board game cabinet.
The included breakfast buffet was not huge but had the essentials (bread, cheese, yoghurt and toppings, juices, tea and coffee). Maybe some fruit would've been a nice addition, especially for those with diet restrictions (I might have missed this though as I wasn't looking for fruit during breakfast lol).
Staff was all really nice and they even offered free coffee to someone that had just arrived and was waiting for check-in time. In sum, loved my stay :)

Hostel is okay, the hotel great

We stayed for one night with a friend in a hostel room for two. The room was tidy as were the showers. The bed is not very comfortable and the pillow was a borderline joke so I wouldn't recommend this for a long term stay. Earlier I stayed at the hotel part of Dream Hostel and it was marvellous. Our room was opposite of reception and the walls were thin so you could hear everything in your room. With this price we would have appreciated if we didn't have to put the sheets on ourselves. The area is tidy, perfect for events in Tampere Hall or Pakkahuone. With some new pillows and mattresses this would be even better.

One of the cleanest hostels I have come across. Whole place is rather spacious for a hostel. It is next to the university, so quite a number of foreign students stay in the hostel. Great place if you like interactions with people of different cultures.

Kaipasimme luonnonvaloa huoneeseen, ei ollut yhtään ikkunaa.

Huone hotellin puolella oli siisti, mutta hyvin pieni, yhden yön yöpymiseen kuitenkin sopiva ja rauhallinen. Ulkopuolelta ei kantautunut ääniä. Keittiön puolella voitiin seurustella muiden porukkaan kuuluvien kanssa. Henkilökunta oli erittäin mukavaa, rentoa ja auttoi kaikissa asioissa. Autolle löytyi kohtuuhintainen parkkipaikka sisäpihalla etukäteisvarauksella. Sijainti on hyvä, aivan Tampere-talon lähellä ja rautatieasemallekin on vain lyhyt kävelymatka. Aamiainen oli riittävä. Mistä en pitänyt: tuli runsaasti sähköpostia varauksesta, ilmeisesti ketjun tyyli. Niissä muun muassa vahvasti kehotettiin tekemään sisään kirjautuminen etukäteen netissä, vaikka se onnistui hyvin paikan päälläkin henkilökunnan kanssa. Ensisijainen kieli sähköposteissa on englanti, suomeksi kääntäjä ei ehkä osunut ihan oikeaan.

Central beläget enkelt hotell och hostel. Hotelrummen bra men lite hemmagjorda. Trevliga vardagsrum med möjlighet att koka kaffe (tur det eftersom kaffet i automaten är Moccomat som försvann från marknaden för 20 år sedan). Obemannad del av dygnet en det fungerar bra. Saknar källsortering på våning 1!

Ensimmäinen vierailuni hostellissa ja yllätyin positiivisesti. Majoituin neljän hengen naisten huoneessa, oli rauhallista ja sain nukuttua erittäin hyvin. Sänky oli tilava ja sai oman rauhan. Yhteiskeittiö oli kiva, kahvia ja teetä oli tarjolla, jääkaappiin mahtui hyvin omat eväät. Hostellissa kiva kodinomainen tunnelma. Suosittelen!
