A lovely place to stay but little things let it down. E.g. in our room you almost needed a wrench to turn on/off the cold water in the shower. No fridge in room for such a hot climate. We had two dinners in the restaurant. Both good with excellent staff.

A delightful place to stay. Lovely meals from the restaurant. Beautiful buildings, decor, and pool area. The only disappointments being no coffee making facilities or fridge in the room. Merida is hot! A fridge to keep water and other drinks cold would be most welcome.

Our stay was lovely. The staff are consistently attentive and friendly. The beds are very comfortable. The shower pressure is excellent and hot water and AC work great. The kitchen specializes in Spanish style cooking. Coffee was weak - not our style but the breakfast was excellent.

We had reserved the unit with a kitchen but it was very basic and it would not meet the purpose of real cooking so we asked to move. They accommodated us very quickly placing us in a room by the pool. It was perfect for our one week stay.

We had paid to upgrade our room to a \"Deluxe Garden View room with a \"Queen\" size bed. Unfortunately the was dark and had very few windows for the garden view. The room was finished with period antique furniture but that also limited the size of the bed to a double at best, and the mattress was very hard and uncomfortable. The shower water pressure was very poor and not enough to rinse shampoo out my hair. The service in the dining room was slow and there were errors on our bills at the end of eating there. The front desk ran out of bottled water and suggested we walk a couple of blocks to the 7-11 or OXXO to buy more bottled water if we wanted it. If you wanted to buy drinks at the garden bar one of our travelling companions was told they needed exact change as the staff didn't have any change. The valet parking worked well albeit is was confusing at first.
The hotel has a distinct period feel with an excellent atmosphere. It could be so much better but needs allot of work to get there. Location was great and only 2 blocks to the central square making it very walkable.

Loved this unique place! The building was formerly a convent and the art and room decor are clearly inspired by that. Very quiet and peaceful place. Excellent bed, btw, which can totally make or break a hotel for me. Great atmosphere in a great town with a lot of history. I will definitely stay here again in the future. So much more fun and interesting than a modern cookie cutter hotel without sacrificing comfort and functionality.

Hotel might be a little overpriced for what it has to offer. General rooms are Mexican vintage with much needed updates, as on every other area like the fountain in the entrance. Only a few suite rooms could enter under the “boutique” umbrella (for design, space and amenities). Pool was always cold during our stay, we couldn’t swim (and was part of our plan). Staff was nice. And location is very good for walking around downtown Merida.

The TV would not turn off so I had to unplug it. There was no tea kettle in the room, which I guess I should have checked on before as well as no fridge to keep drinks cold. The air was so humid that everything was always damp. The a/c did not dry out the room. The front desk told me Expedia does not collect money and re-charged me. When both charges showed up on my bank acct I had to confront the front desk. He tried to tell me he didn’t charge me but I showed him the charge on my phone and he still denied that they charged me. Although it was in the historic section and I could walk to the center of town, I would not recommend this hotel.

Perfect Mérida Stay

The hotel was beautiful, the staff all around helpful and friendly. Cleanliness of the rooms was perfect, a beautiful, historic building and the pool area was so inviting. Walking out of our room everyday to that view was all we could have wanted. Incredible walk-ability to all we wanted to see in Mérida and the ease to book tours was so helpful to see the Yucatán’s beauty and history! Close to the historic downtown center and we felt safe walking all around.

The hotel was beautiful and the staff all around helpful and friendly. Cleanliness of the rooms was perfect, a beautiful, historic building and the pool area was so inviting. Walking out of our room everyday to that view was all we could have wanted. Incredible walk-ability to all we wanted to see in Mérida and the ease to book tours was so helpful to see the Yucatán’s beauty and history! Close to the historic downtown center and we felt safe walking all around.

This is a historic building that is being maintained at a high level. The only thing to comment on is the low quality of towels being used and sometimes the inconsistency of cleaning staff to supply the appropriate number of towels. Even though, I would stay here again.

This is a very charming hotel just a short walk from the city historic center. This is not your cookie cutter hotel. Quiet, and relaxing. Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
It has a beautiful patio courtyard with a fountain and a second courtyard with a pool. The room we had was very spacious with very high ceilings.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant staff were very attentive. I would come back to La Mision Del Fray Diego Boutique Hotel.

All and all, the hotel was fine. Front desk people were great, friendly and helpful. Bar/restaurant people were at times rude, slow, and quite unfriendly. There were also a couple bellboys or whatever they were called that slept the entire time. Rooms were okay. Beds are firm/hard. Bathroom is small but functional. Pool was nice, water perfect temperature decent seating space for small groups. Restaurant was not really worth the money (especially breakfast). Very few options for breakfast. Location was pretty good, only 1.5 blocks from the main square.

This was an absolutely beautiful old building remade into a boutique hotel. There is a lovely pool in the courtyard and the rooms are very pretty and comfortable. The staff goes way out of its way to be helpful. For example when we could not stay for our complimentary breakfast they send us off to the airport with a box lunch for each of us. I couldn't recommend it more highly and I have stayed in a number of hotels in Merida

Property was a block away from hotel. Room was run down and in bad shape. Toilet flushes once every 10 minutes as it would take that long for tank to fill. Bathroom overall was gross and needed to be remodeled 20 years ago. Pillows were stained with what looked like blood. Towels looked old and dingy. A chair was falling apart and had to pull aside so kids wouldn’t sit on it. Overall room looked straight out of Narcos Mexico torture scene….

The one person we spoke with the most is Carlos, who is extremely friendly and helpful; - but then again, - all the staff were so friendly and helpful and efficient.

Amazing stay - would always come back

The hotel is really close to the main plaza. It is really charming and beautiful, very personal with the courtyard and the pool. No street noise at all, as rooms are in second courtyard. Rooms were clean and have an old charm. Once the room service found out we had a kid, her towel was shaped each time in a different way, a rabbit, an elephant, a girl. Our daughter was absolutely delighted. Such a nice personal touch. Only the pool wasn’t super clean.

What an amazing stay. The staff are so attentive and friendly. Everyone was bilingual or trilingual. The property was close to the town square and great restaurants. The hotel is very quaint and the building is historic, so just note that if you’re looking for soundproof rooms or really modern, it’s not that. And it might not be a good remote work spot if you need high speed wifi (my room in the back of the hotel had less reception than my mom’s room at the front).

We stayed in the “garden view hot tub suite”. I would not book this room for the garden view or the hot tub. The hot tub was very old and had hair in it when we arrived. The room was big but overall would not stay here again. Woke up both nights with ant bites and spider bites. Ants all over the room.

The staff was kind and we especially appreciated being able to book a CoVID test (to return to the USA) through the front desk, performed in our room. I do not think the poor conditions of the room should reflect on restaurant / front desk staff who were kind.

Beautiful historical architecture transport us back in time. Conveniently located nearby several attractions and key tourist destinations.
Easy check in and check out. However the servers at the restaurant seemed to be overwhelmed and the waiting time at breakfast was a bit too long.

We couldn’t sleep for the noice of very old air conditioner. The place ir dirty, room doesn’t have enough outlets to charge 3 phones and a laptop.
Front desk clerk were very told when we ask to change our room because all the inconvenience, even when we were the only guess at the hotel. We change hotel next day in the morning, the parking garage is two blocks from the hotel. Ruin our vacation. Will not recommend to anyone

We like very much the staff, the property, the pleasant surroundingd and the location.
However the idea that this Fray Diego was actively involved in destroying the Maya culture was very disturbing. Yes it is part of history, but perhaps you should erase that info from the entrance. I had know it I would not have stayed in this hotel.

This charming boutique hotel is also in a great location: two blocks from the main square in Merida. It has the feel of old Mexico with a tropical front courtyard and pool in the back courtyard. Our junior suite was spacious with 12-ft ceilings and a very comfortable king bed. The valet service was prompt and gracious. The whole staff was friendly and helpful. Some minor downsides: the breakfast was only mediocre; there was a good bit of street noise (which was not bad in the back courtyard); and the hot water pressure was unreliable. All told, though, a pleasant stay.

If you ever wanted to stay in one of the California missions, then this is the place to stay. The rooms and the property have this feel. All of the staff were fantastic, property was clean and well kept, and the location near the plaza make this a very walkable hotel. It would be our pleasure to stay here again if we are able to return to Merida.
