To noisy to sleep

Hotel in the middle of el Centro, blocks off the Plaza on St Lucia Park. Would have been a great stay except for one huge problem. The hotel is next to a club that blares music from 9pm till 2:30am. This noise permeates the hotel rooms,making it impossible to sleep. Kavia is big enough to constrain the club or sound proof the walls between them. I have stayed in places with music in the hotel or near by but this was the worst. Staff was great, it's clean. But it was not enough to overcome the noise.

El hotel es un lugar viejo, por el precio que tiene esperaría algo más remodelado, ya que está en el estándar que otros más nuevos.

La ubicación aunque es céntrica, es terrible por las noches porque está detrás de un antro y la música se oye excesivamente alta toda la noche. Es casi imposible dormir.

This hotel is affordable, had a little pool, and is close to a lot of places to eat, convenience stores, shops, and more. This part of town feels safe to walk around. The person at the front desk was very friendly. The only negative things I have is that my sink was leaking, so the bathroom floor was almost always covered in puddles, and the window/walls of the room make it so you can hear everything that's going on in the hotel. But I still liked my stay here.

The hotel is in a great location, close to everything you may need and places you want to see within walking distance, the property itself needs updating and need to be more thoughtful for furniture and shelves in the bathrooms for guest to use. The staff is very attentive and helpful. You get what you paid for but it would be nice if someone really thought it out a bit more pleasant stay for guests.

When I was going to check-in to Hotel Gran Centenario the front lady told me that the hotel no longer had room for us at that hotel and had sent us to another hotel which I had to pay extra to Taxi to get to for not informing the client ahead of time. Very dissatisfied with the check in service at the hotel because I reserved for the original hotel not to be sent to another hotel 3 blocks down. Other than the service at the new hotel that I was sent to called Hotel Flamingo was very friendly, clean and nice.

The rooms could use some updating, but cold a/c and hot water will instantly make you forget about the crumbling paint and outdated furniture. The beds are comfortable, the staff super helpful, and the location cannot be beat. I would definately stay again!

Perfect for families of 5-6 on a budget.

I chose this hotel because of price, location and the unique feature of allowing my whole family of 5 to stay in the same room. The room was exactly as pictured in hotels.com, 3 queen beds in one room with bathroom. A plus was the really cold AC. Despite the height of the room, the AC cooled very well and it made it pleasant to come in from the heat outside. The only thing against the room is the fact that you can hear everything going on in the bathroom so some reserved going no. 2 to restaurant bathrooms instead, hehe.
Also, bear in mind, no elevator to this room.
We were there 2 nights for a wedding, it served us well, service was polite and the price was great. Oh! By the way, you are right across the street from the most famous restaurant in Merida! The Chaya Maya, so enjoy breakfast there... no need to have it included in the hotel. Plenty of restaurants to choose from within walking distance.

Perfect location, but very basic

The location of the hotel is perfect. It's close to everything. The hotel itself is very basic. We were not too lucky as we felt our room was very dirty. There were stains on the sheets, pillows and towels. We tried to ask for new sheets but were told the cleaners had left for the day, eventually we managed to get some when we told them we could make the bed ourselves. We also had problems with mosquitos so if you chose to drag here make sure you bring some repellent.

Great Location but that's about it

Simple Basic hotel right in the middle of all of the action in Merida. The location is excellent, but the Wifi was non existent even though we asked the front desk about it and they said it was working. There was also no hot water and lots of mosquitos in the room. Upon arrival there were no towels in the room and we had to ask for towels which was no problem and we were given some immediately. The air conditioner worked well. If you are ok with no hot water and no wifi, this is an ok place to stay because the location is so good.

Good value in the middle of the city

Nice family run hotel in the middle of the city. A new pool was recently installed, nice to cool off during hot days. Internet was not strong overall in the hotel but we managed to move rooms to another which had a stronger signal. There's a popular restaurant across the street and a nearby mini mart sells wine and beer and snacks.

Didn't honor our reservation.

We arrived and they had no rooms even though we had paid for 6 nights. Sent us to a nearby hotel that treated us well, but we could have rebooked on our own and paid much less to stay there. They should have refunded our money and assisted with rebooking.

Just for what you need it for \"sleep\" and close to downtown cathedral and right infront of a very good restaurant that I really recomend. Only sad thing it's the parking but most of the places don't have one so you have to park two blocks away but besides that everything else it's ok.

I Love Merida!

I felt so safe and comfortable staying here. My first time visiting Merida, I booked my room for one week and it was great. The room was spotless and staff were very nice. I enjoyed the courtyard and the location of the hotel is perfect. I traveled alone and could have not picked a better location to explore and enjoy the El Centro and Santiago neighborhoods with all the sites, food and shopping. I'm going back and will stay at Hotel Gran Centenario.

Older hotel located 3 shirt blocks from Plaza Mayor. A bit rough around the edges, but I was pleased with my stay overall. The staff was pleasant and friendly.
There's dancing in the plaza twice a week, a fabulous cappuccino at a cafe across from the plaza, and a delicious restaurant across from the hotel. More than I could ask for! Plan to stay here again when I return from a road trip around the rest of the Yucatan state.

Las fotos que se ven en la publicación son engañosas con la realidad, el hotel es muy viejo, y lejos de manejar como decoración los muebles antiguos, deja mucho que desear. La puerta principal no tiene manera de ponerle algún seguro. La habitación no tiene teléfono, si necesitas algo, tienes que ir directamente a la recepción. El baño no tiene techo, el agua caliente dura 5 minutos y se enfría, no te dejan ni una botella de agua en la habitación, en general, no lo recomendaría.

Personal freundlich, jedoch kaum englischsprechend, daher Kommunikation deutlich erschwert. Pool ist sehr klein, jedoch sauber und zum kurzen abkühlen wie in einem Tauchbecken ok.
Sitzmöglichkeiten zum kurzen ausruhen zwischen der Stadtbesichtigung sehr wenig.
Lage war fantastisch, gleich im Geschehen.
Parken gibt es in der Nähe ein öffentlicher Parkplatz, Kostenpunkt völlig in Ordnung.

We are a family of five who stayed there during our visit to Merida. On the positive side the placement is very nice in the old city. It felt safe.The area is very walkable and has lots of shops and restaurants.

However, the standard of the room is very bare, to the point where our room did not even have a chair or a nightstand.

The bathroom was very old and shabby. To be honest, not very nice. It was not very clean neither.

El hotel es un poco mas antiguo de lo que las fotos o al menos la habitacion que nos toco. Todo bien en general unicamente nuestro baño tenia la parte de arriba abierta entonces se escucha todo y como si la gente esta ahi contigo. Deben tomar en cuenta que no tiene estacionamiento y pagas 50 pesos la noche y de 8am a 8pm el estacionamiento es de 20 pesos. Entonces si quieres dejar tu auto terminas pagando casi una noche solo por estacionarte. Si no tienes auto es buena opcion ya que todo esta cerca.

El único detalle que yo vi es que por las noches hay mucho ruido porque está a lado de un bar supongo, en lo personal no me afectó, pero si a ti te molesta el ruido no te lo recomiendo. La recámara estaba muy bien, muy cómoda, el único detalle estaba en el baño que la regadera no tenía buena salida de agua y el inodoro también tenía el mismo problema. El personal muy amable, incluso me apoyaron a conservar un medicamento aunque no contaban con enfriador en el hotel. El servicio de limpieza excelente. Sin duda regresaría

El lugar está en buena ubicación la alberca y zona al rededor bastante bien, solo algunos detalles, el principal es que no tiene estacionamiento propio y se subroga parte del mismo solo por 12 horas, ya las demás horas las tienes que pagar, en un estacionamiento público que está a media cuadra del hotel.

Es una propiedad segura y muy conveniente si vas por pocas noches. Desafortunadamente las condiciones de las habitaciones no son óptimas ya que están un poco descuidadas. En nuestro caso tuvimos la mala fortuna de estar en una habitación que estaba cerca de la calle de atrás (justo donde hay un bar) entonces ya se imaginarán el ruido y lo dificil para poder descansar. Sin embargo los empleados son súper amables y atentos, mi felicitación va para ellos.

No cuenta con estacionamiento, te dan un pase la cual pagas 18 pesos pero solo se puede usar una vez si sales en mas ocasiones en ese dia tienes que pagar la tarifa ya que es un establecimiento publico los baños no cuentan con agua caliente y esta abierto la parte del techo que da a al cuarto asi que si haces popis todo se impregna en la habitacion, para dormir esta exelente camas comoda, buena señal de wifi y de tv, aires acondicionados funcionan bien
