It is located near the city center, interior is really nice, room was clean. It doesn’t have parking. They gave us a voucher for parking in a close parking lot from 8 pm to 8 am and the rest of the time is charged. Overall was a good experience.

They advertise as parking included, when you check in they ask you what kind of a vehicle you have, if it is a SUV they will only cover the cost from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am.
The hotel is outdated.

I have stayed at Hotel Montejo on several occasions (4-5 times) over the last 10-12 years. This last time, we (my adult son and I) stayed in two separate rooms. It's charming, nice and quiet. It's downtown (two blocks from the main square), yet it is not super busy. I like the colonial architecture, the courtyard and the fountain. The artificial lighting in the rooms and in the bathrooms is deficient. The water pressure is low in the bathroom sinks. The beds are comfortable. There is no coffee or coffee maker available in the premises. They converted the former hotel restaurant into a clothing store. Because of this I will not be staying there again.

The day manager was excellent the night manager was inefficient. We had an issue
Where the top of the barn door lock had come off and it was a safety issue he told us it couldn't be fixed until the next morning.
I had to get a stone and hammer the lock back on the door,it made sleeping difficult. As anyone with a little effort could push it open and have access to the room.

Nice small older hotel. Rooms around a small courtyard. Gabby at front desk was kind and helpful, cleaning staff as well. Room was simple, sparse, clean and large, comfy firm bed, quiet (thick old walls) and a/c worked well. 2 blocks from the center. No restaurant on site but they gave me a ticket for breakfast at a nice sister hotel around the corner. Pool is nice but cold in January! Not ideal for young kids. No wifi TV, but lots of channels. I will return.

The worst part is that we requested a refund on the meals because we were charged again for the meals that are at another hotel and we were very upset. We never used the restaurant again after two times. The only wonderful thing at the hotel were the people working there.

Nice Budget Hotel

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel and was pleased overall. The Hotel is cute, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and shower was hot. For me, the location was perfect. The parking is a bit awkward, you pull in front and put your flashers on and then after check-in an employee goes with you to the parking lot a couple blocks away. I didn't need the car while I was there but I think if you were coming and going it might be a bit inconvenient. Definitely I was happy though and will be staying here again next time. The value is great!

2nd time at this hotel in 4 years. Great, helpful, hard-working staff. Convenient to main plaza, restaurants. Bus station is walkable, but if you have a bit of luggage take a taxi. Additional pool chairs would help. There were only 3 that were usable. (Throw out the plastic one). Nice pool. Had a problem with our room that was quickly remedied by front desk staff offering us another room. Would return.

The location in the center of Merida was great. Parking was secure a few blocks away. The room was very spacious with even a walk in closet! We liked the little pool and enjoyed the fact that it was next to our room. Felt like our own private pool. I do wish they would provide a basic breakfast, just coffee and a pastry or something.
I will stay at this hotel again since it is very good value for money.

This hotel is in a perfect location in El Centro, immediately across from La Chaya Maya where I ate almost daily. The hotel is clean, colonial charm and close to everything in El Centro. Walking distance to stores, restaurants, parks, etc. The restaurant within the hotel is not the best. Venture outside for some really good Yucatecan food. This hotel is not pet friendly which I found out when I arrived with my cat. I specifically requested it in the filters but all in all my stay was pleasant. I would recommend for short stays.

Nice, inexpensive hotel centrally located in downtown Merida. I stayed for 9 nights. This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel in the last 3 years, each time 9-10 nights. My room (#5) had a dirty/stained curtain. The floor (ceramic tile) was filthy under the bed. The toilet was never very clean. Some of the towels, on several occasions, were very old and very frayed. The king size bed is way too close to the floor in this room. The bedspread had a few stains. I know the hotel is under new ownership/management. The first time I stayed was in one of the rooms upstairs close to the street. It was much better and cleaner then, plus breakfast was included. The hotel restaurant downstairs is very good, although I didn't care for their coffee. It was low quality. There are better hotels in Merida for the price and similarly located, although few with the charm and character of this hotel. All the hotel staff were super nice, super helpful, very courteous and very friendly. Thank you.

The Hotel Montejo has a lot if potential. The location is excellent, the room spacious, air conditioning and hot showers in abundance. Their staff - young lady at the front desk and young man in the restaurant were very pleasant but obviously inexperienced. Training would help a lot here - a map to the parking garage, information on Wi-Fi password, how to work the TV and breakfast and restaurant hours would go a long way. We asked the waiter what the free breakfast included and he told us everything on the menu. So we ordered a fruit plate an order of pancakes and 2 coffees. We left a large tip. About 20 minutes later we had a knock o the door and was presented a bill for 180 pesos. No big deal but could of been prevented with some advance information. Tip to hotel owners provide a sheet with the above info when checking in. In the most common tourist languages as well as Spanish. That said great value hotel, nice room and great location. One more recommendation a small fridge in the room would be well received by your guests.

We selected this hotel because it was close to downtown, which was very convenient; but we were unhappy with the smelly bathroom and the moldy walls. The receptionist kindly gave us the option to switch to another room, but it was not much different. Also, this hotel is located next to a loud dance club and we could hear the noice all night. The hotel had air conditioning but the one we had in our room sounded like it was foing to break soon. If you’re in a low budget, this is the right hotel. But I wouldn’t stay here again. The staff was very nice and resourceful.

A basic hotel. Despite our inability to speak Spanish we were able to communicate and received assistance from kind and patient staff members. A continental breakfast was included. The major drawback was the mouldy shower ceiling and on one occasion the water was not even warm. We loved the high ceilings and gigantic door to our room. Unfortunately we made the mistake of opening the top half of the door and mosquitos envaded. Parking was free for evenings and there was a nominal charge for days.

A few minutes from the main Square. Beautiful, non pretentious inner court, with rooms where you may believe you are an aid to a very known public figure from the past. The door of your room is amazing, the rest of the furniture is ok. Just don't expect full blown service. The hotel offers excellent value for service. 25 minutes and 25 pesos away is the seaside town of Progreso.

We arrived at the hotel, the receptionist was rude. We got our room keys. As soon as we entered the room we noticed that the room looked nothing like the pictures we had seen on the Expedia website. The room smelled bad, the sheets were dirty and dusty and it had bugs everywhere. I took pictures to show the hotel manager. The curtains were stained with some dark stuff, and were filled with bugs. The walls were dirty and the air conditioner was dusty and not maintained. As soon as we turned it on the dust was blown towards us. The hinges on the bathroom doors were rusted and the entry was very narrow. The bathroom shower smelled like sewer. We told the manager but he did not care, nor apologized for lack of maintenance. We did not stay, we left and paid another hotel. Never going back and would not recommend it.

This is a very mixed review because of a variety of things. First and foremost, the location of this hotel is it's best feature. Consistency with Reception Staff is not there. Food at the restaurant hotel is good, but pricey. For an additional $25 pesos more you can get a full buffet around the corner at various restaurants.- if you want more bang for your buck. This is a very nice old style colonial hotel - with a VERY NICE swimming pool. If you are in need of ice for anything , be sure to get is in advance of the restaurant closing because the hotel does NOT have an ice machine.

Stayed in a spacious family room. The building had an old colonial hacienda feel with a courtyard fountain, tall wooden doors and big, spacious rooms. Kids & I loved the place.
It is across the street from a well-known restaurant of traditional Yucatecan (delicious) good. There's also a pizzeria in the next corner to the right of the hitel. Around the corner, there are several shops where you can but traditional guayaveras made locally. There is a small movie theatre a couple blocks away.

Good Merida base

This was a perfectly fine hotel. It was clean enough but not so clean that I totally felt comfortable barefoot in the room (but not so unclean that I bothered to wear shoes all the time either). When I'm staying for only a couple of days I don't like maid service coming in and cleaning, but they didn't have a do not disturb sign, so we ended up coming back in the evening to find all our stuff that had been on the bed moved elsewhere so they could make the bed, which was kind of annoying, but not really a massive issue. No mosquito issues in January, though I can imagine it would be worse in summer. The location is excellent, walking distance to the square and several good Yucatan restaurants.

The most annoying part were the thin curtains, which didn't block out the lights sufficiently (lights on outside the room all night) so I ended up sleeping with a t-shirt on my eyes. Bring a face mask if that bothers you! We stayed twice, and one of the rooms had pretty dodgy aircon, but the other was fine, so if you end up with the room with loud and musty aircon, maybe ask to moved?

Nice hotel close to historic center

I stay at this hotel twice a year. The rooms are basic, but the hotel has the charm of an old hacienda and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The pool is small, but clean. There is WiFi and a lovely fountain in the center of the patio. The restaurant is small, but the food is authentic Yucatecan and quite good. The hotel's location is great if you want to walk to the markets, restaurants, and historic points of interest. You can walk to the grand plaza where many activities go on each evening, to the theatre, and to many outside cafes. Each Sunday, there are many vendors with handmade items in the plaza. This is not the hotel for you if you are looking for glamor and glitz, but if you want to feel like you are in Mexico and have a very relaxing stay, this is a great hotel.

Great location but moldy walls.

We stayed in a nice room by the garden but the walls were moldy. The staff was accommodating and apologetic and a man came to spray the bathroom wall (which also was a favorite for mosquitos) but the nasty smell lingered. If you go, ask for a room on the second floor! Other than that, the price was very fair and there is free parking from 8PM to 8AM around the corner. No breakfast but plenty of purified water, which was a plus since it got really hot in the beginning of January.

The hotel has a beautiful courtyard and the entire staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Some spoke a little English which was also helpful. We stayed a week and a half in the suite with our 3 kids. The king bed was very hard but we got used to it. The room was clean and the pool was wonderful.

Stayed only one day in Merida, but it was very pleasant. The hotel is two blocks from the central plaza, and it has a colonial feel. The room is like a studio with a separate room for a toilet and shower, but the room is big! The hotel has a very nice restaurant with friendly staff and local dishes. The central part of the hotel has a fountain which gives a pleasing sound (like rain) which, in my opinion, helps the traveler relax and fall asleep. The only weird thing was that upon check out, I was informed Expedia only booked the hotel not actually paid it. I had to show my card and pay for the room which didn't take a lot of time but was inconvenient and rubbed me the wrong way. Overall, the staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful.

A great hotel in an excellent location. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. They even made phone calls for us at times because we needed someone bilingual. We enjoyed the location, the pool, and the air conditioned rooms. Our room was great because it was a suite with 2 rooms and 4 beds.

The only downside was the continental breakfast was only fruit and white bread toast, and the shower wasn't very good.

Lovely Hotel

Nice hotel, close to the plaza.

We arrived at 2pm , the room was ready. The room is big and comfortable. There is an in site restaurant , very convenient.
Staff is friendly and helpful.
There is wifi but it can't be accessed from the room you have to be in the hallways.
Overall we had a good experience. We will stay there again.
