When I was searching for the hotels in Merida they showed a beautiful building big and nice but is not that one the hotel is rating 8.2 is nothing compare with another hotels I went in my previous trips.
This don’t not have elevator, the beds is pretty bad not comfortable the shower never I couldn’t control the temperature was coming very hot or cold. I don’t not recommend this property l.

What a beautiful place to stay. This hotel is tucked in Parque de los Hidalgo which is so convenient. The hotel is well preserved and filled with beautiful artwork. The service was great, the front desk staff was prompt. We requested a cab and they made the arrangements as requested. The room is perfect for a nite with all the amenities a/c, TV and toiletries. There is a pool on the third floor. I didn’t go in the water, I did a temp check with my toe, it felt great.
I would totally stay here again.

Could be much better. Needs an elevator. Parking lot is not manned full-time which is a hassle to get in and out of. Lack of electrical outlets in rooms is a major inconvenience - we had to purchase an extension cord to get my CPAP to reach the other side of the room! Room smelled like a sewer when we arrived.

The hotel is clean and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful; however, the pool was shut down during my entire stay. They host wedding receptions and they last until about 1:30am. It’s a small hotel so the noise from the receptions echo loudly to the entire building which makes it unfair to the rest of the hotel guests.

Very basic but clean hotel, staff very friendly good for the price and close to everything. On the other hand, it is a little noisy even with signs everywhere to be silent people do not respect that so if you stay here just bring earplugs. Another area of opportunity will be the restaurant that is only open in the morning (would have been great to be able to have dinner there) and the service was slow and also need to serve better coffee. If you are disabled or just don’t like stairs there is no elevator make sure you ask for a room in the ground floor and last but important for all coffee drinkers the do not provide a coffee maker.

The hotel in general is old but nice, walking distance from the center with shop and restaurant very close by. Staff were nice. Bed was comfortable. I had a room facing the street so it was a little noisy. The TV channel in my room were black and white and of course all in Spanish. And the other issue was the toile, there was sign, don’t throw toilet paper into the toilet because of the old plumbing I guess.

This was a nice place, very helpful and friendly staff. I am a digital nomad, working from the road, so fast WiFi is very important and there WiFi was fast enough to support my work.

The only downside is the restaurant and room service closed at 2:30pm everyday and earlier on the weekends. They advertised it was open until 9:30pm or 10:30pm.

The number one thing we loved about the Hotel del Gobernador was the staff. They were excellent in not only doing their job but also doing the little things that made our stay so memorable! Especially the two door men Roger and ? who went above and beyond. The location was great and having restaurants so close by was handy, If we return to Merida it will be our first choice.

Great location, three blocks to the Centro, Chaya Maya and Five blocks to Santa Lucia Pl. very clean rooms, good staff, two bottles of water every day. Bathrooms were great. 42 inch flatscreenCNN. Restaurant and bar are both good, pool is very clean. AC worked great, and everyday I was there I liked it more. Gym had two bikes and a treadmill.

Amazing staff, so welcoming, friendly & helpful from the front desk, bellman, restaurant & housekeeping! Comfy bed, very clean. Very close to the main plazas and everything walkable. The only thing is it is a typical Mexican construction that sounds carry very well thought the open courtyard. Made a bit louder being a ladies conference there with 170 extra ladies and children! If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. And honestly the noise did not go late into the night! I will definitely stay here again!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The first night I got there, I had requested a different room with windows facing outside and they promptly changed my room to an even better room first thing the next morning. It was a major upgrade. They mentioned possible noise but this was not an issue at all to me and I slept very well. The staff were also amazing! They were very friendly, kind and made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely stay here again when I go back to Merida. A

The location of hotel is excellent and three blocks from central plaza and all the activities. Rooms are clean, staff is professional and helpful. Breakfast buffet is relatively inexpensive and includes extremely delicious food and super sweet orange juice. Try it. Price is reasonable. Great place for your Mayan experience.

Great location, but the shower was broken in the first room we received, and upon moving to the room next door, the key reader malfunctioned and left us locked out twice. Eventually required a maintenance worker to repair the door (he did a great job), but the coordination between the receptionist and maintenance left us uncomfortable for longer than it should have, and it also forced us to stick around the hotel room longer than we would have liked.

Staff was amazing! Nice, helpful and smiling all day and night! The room was quaint, yet comfortable with a very good air conditioner and colonial feel. Pool and pool area was clean and nice to go wading in. The location was excellent! It was a couple blocks from many of the churches and the centros. Restaurants, convenience and souvenir stores everywhere! Only problem was the drain in the shower did not drain. We had to take turns showering in order to let the water drain. We mentioned it to the maid and she just said ok. I should have called the front desk but we were always on the go. Overall, we liked it alot and would stay there again!

Very traditional \"old Mexico' feel; right in the historical centre of Merida. Lots within walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful pool, spotlessly clean. Climate controls in our two rooms worked well and made for comfortable sleeping.

The only problem was the showers. Volume was very low, with one room's shower too cold, and the other too hot.

The room booked was not even adequate at best. The property should be looked into by Expedia before it is recommended as 3.5 Stars. The WIFI advertised didn't work in our room. There was no hot water in our room, either. The front desk agent graciously offered us another room the morning after our first night's stay. The first room felt like we were sleeping on the street given the noise. The second room was quiet and had hot water and WIFI as advertised. Yet still the ambience of the hotel is very dark and old and requires some enhancements to bring it out of its 1930s like doldrums. I didn't mention mold on the bathroom floors, did I?

There seems to be inconsistency with the front desk as well. It was like i was working with the Yin and Yang twins. One understood anticipating guest needs, the other was sure to make you swim up stream with her.

The breakfast served at the restaurant adjacent the building was incredible! However, we found out that most guest received vouchers for the breakfast. The booking through expedia did not offer this, so I was somewhat disappointed with expedia about that. The price was right for the breakfast for what they offered. The coffee was strong and delicious as well.

The doormen was awesome at this property and should receive a raise from the owners. His name is David and he is a dedicated hotelier.

The hotel is just OK 2.5-3 stars. This is for David and Location.

It's a nice place and I enjoyed my stay there. The location is great (very close to the centre) but it's on a busy street and after the first night I had to change from a street room to an interior one because of the loud traffic noise (I booked an interior room but a street room is all they had the first night).
I had some bad luck in that they were renovating some rooms while I was there and so you heard loud construction noises after 9:30 am for several hours. I wished that they would do that sort of thing during their slow season...
The restaurant staff there was a bit pushy in wanting me to have the all inclusive breakfast but I just don't like to eat that much in the morning. They asked me what my room number was so I thought that they would put the breakfast bill on my hotel bill but then they called me shortly after to pay. Why ask me my room number then? I even said 'Adios' as I was leaving and they didn't say anything.
Anyway, it sounds like I'm complaining but those are mostly trivial. It's a nice place and there's a pool area which was great for doing yoga. Merida is a wonderful city.

Hotel was fairly central to where we wanted to be for Dia del Muerte and within walking distance to many historic places. Hotel was good however our room was on the ground floor and very noisy, especially with people leaving early morning and wheeling cases along the corridor. Staff were very helpful and restaurant served a reasonable buffet breakfast.

The hotel is close to the Parquet in the central square area. Free parking was close by. The staff didn't have much knowledge of local restaurants and activities. Otherwise the staff was friendly and helpful. On site restaurant was OK but not English speaking. The breakfast buffet was average and ordering off the menu difficult with language. We speak some Spanish but did not communicate our order to get what we wanted. Language appears to be a mix between Spanish and Mayan. The hotel is a colonial style with adequate modern updates. Due to location we would go there again.

This could be a way better hotel. Two problems, both smell. 1, put some draino down the sink 2, you have to replace mattresses more often. Mine smelled of sweat and was hard as rock.
Our room was supposed to look onto a courtyard but it looked onto an outdoor hallway. The only window looked on to that. It was smelly so we wanted air, but it was then very loud with people coming and going with suitcases rolling on tile at all hours. Again because of overlooking the hall we got no daylight and no darkness. I don’t need complete darkness to sleep but this was very bright, no blinds and the curtains didn’t suffice. The pool was nice and the people were too. No coffee or fridge but you could take away from the restaurant.
