This hotel is in dire need of repair. Our stay was not as advertised. The bedside lights were just bare (very bright!) bulb’s with no lampshades and this was not by design. We were visiting with a very large group and I visited other rooms, no other room has bare glaringly bright bulbs at sides of the beds. The bath had black mold round it. The mirrors were stained and marked. The hotel is next to a busy road that feeds the motorway, and the sound of the traffic was very loud in our room because the windows had old rotted frames. The furniture was chipped and peeling. The room was not equipped with an iron and ironing board, and you have to request these from reception. The on tap beers in the bar kept running out and there was no replacement barrels.
The breakfast buffet, had run out of pasties, fruit and other things when we arrived at 8:30. We had to go find a member of staff to request it be replenished.
The breakfast menu gives the option of omelette or kippers made to order, but no one was working behind the breakfast food counter.
I did complain about all of the above at the reception desk, but I was just told it would reported to management and that was the only response I got.
The only positive I have, is that the staff are very friendly and there is plenty of parking other than that unfortunately I can’t say anything else positive.
I will not stop be stopping at this hotel again and I would not recommend it others.

Super stay- really friendly staff and comfortable bed. Good food.
Two things however slightly let it down - no lift for those with walking problems to get to the second floor - stairs only-and once in the room the shower was above the bath so again anyone with knee or disability would find it difficult to gain access to utilise. ( There may be other arrangements on the ground floor- didn’t ask for disability option) as I assumed that -as most hotels- it would have general lift and shower access to/ in every room.

Great location less than a mile away from the M5 and off the main road. Wonderful guy on reception who made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and tidy. We decided to go into nearby Thornbury to grab something to eat. The bed was really comfy and we had our buffet breakfast in the Marco Pierre White restaurant in the hotel which kept us full for the drive home.

Loved the ambience of the property. Spent a very relaxing, peaceful afternoon in the bar area, sitting in the sun with a lovely coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved this hotel and would stay again. Two recommendations for the hotel to think about...1. If a wedding reception is booked, perhaps think about putting tired travellers in a room away from the loud music. (Best wishes to the bride and groom). 2. Upgrade the mattress on the foldaway bed. For an extra 25 pounds, the bed was not really comfortable for a young adult. Thanks to the staff for helping with my requests. Cheers.

An overnight stay here. I booked a comfort room with a king bed and was shown to an awful room with a small double. The back panel was handing off too! I complained to reception and was eventually given the correct room. We ate at the onsite restaurant. My partner had to send back his carbonara and it was very mushy and overcooked. Breakfast was ok. I would not stay here again.

Plenty of parking and easy to find, just off the motorway. Got a good rate for the night and bed v comfortable. Room of reasonable quality although ensuite could do with some refurbishment. Power shower 10/10. My main criticism is that it is a tad noisy, both from the road outside and from creaky floorboards in hallways. Pleasant bar area. Cannot comment in food as did not dine. Perfectly gone for a one night stay.

Staff were pleasant and helpful, breakfast was better than expected and the bar area is quite nice. Comfortable enough bed but the bathroom was very dated & the shower-head would not stay in place. A septic tank issue during heavy rain caused a slight smell, but only in the conference area. Overall, its adequate for a 1 night stop-over.

Where to start. Hotel is dated and needs deep cleaning to start. I doubt Marco has ever set foot in the restaurant, only half of the menu available and what i ordered, half of that had been microwaved from frozen. Staff were good but disappeared for long spells. Had the cheek to add a charge for a tip for themselves ,because after our meal there was no one to speak to, therefore charged to the room.
In general the staff were helpful but id say the owners need to take a hard look at what they offer and Marco Pierre Whits needs to pay a visit and see what they are serving up. Will not be going again and will not be recommending this establishment to anyone. Book the Devere up the road for £20 extra and have a lovely stay with better rooms and food.

Better than expected!

Better than expected for a 3 star hotel. Friendly helpful staff, a good breakfast with plenty of choice and an excellent meal in the bar. The outside seating area was very pleasant and there was plenty of parking. If I was to nitpick the coffee in the bar was disappointing. Overall an enjoyable experience.

The hotel is definitely in need of a refurbishment. The rooms are extremely dated and feel very old, however our room at least felt clean.The restaurant areas are not bad, but reception and hallways also need an update.
The lack of air conditioning made the room feel very warm and stale.

Even though we stayed at the hotel for one night, the bed was very small for two people. We only just fit. The room had no air conditioning whatsoever and the windows would only open so far. It was very dirty and very hot as well. We dined at the hotel as well and the food was subpar for the money that you pay for it. The Staff were rude, and the hotel was dirty as a whole as well. It was very easy to find and get to. The area around the hotel was lovely. We had a lovely weekend as whole but the hotel needs some serious TLC and the food either needs to be cheaper for what you pay or the standard needs to get better. My partner had their Ragu and it was bland and tasteless and I had their burger and I genuinely thought that went to McDonalds to get it! This hotel needs to be looked at ASAP by Best Western!

A little disappointing

The hotel was fine - the bed was a bit too hard and also too low for our liking. The Marco’s restaurant was a complete let down - but I’ve done a separate review for that! We booked the hotel with 24 hour room service - this was not available after 8:45pm - we also booked the hotel with daily housekeeping - this did not happen - our bed was unmade and we had to phone reception for fresh towels and extra refreshments - all very disappointing given that we paid extra for the executive room and expected to get what we paid for - the room was as described however the door was very stiff and had to be forcibly pushed to open & forcibly banged to shut - the bathroom & shower were very good - the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ok but very basic with not a huge choice - because the hotel was quiet I think the hot food was standing for too long as they didn’t think there was a need to keep replenishing it, however it was quite dried up. As they had already set & reserved tables for dinner, the breakfast tables available were a bit too close and twice I had to get up in the middle of my meal to let someone get past our table.

The welcome at reception was good and we were able to book a table at the restaurant. We were told that the room would only be serviced if we asked specifically.
We preceded to our room which had a kingsize comfortable bed, hanging space, ensuite etc. Very nice. The shower had both pressure AND temperature, which not all places have.
We then realised that despite booking a five night stay, they only provided us with four tea bags and two rolls of toilet paper. Over our stay it became a bit of a joke as reception would only allow us one roll at a time so we had to return regularly for supplies. The restaurant was OK, but on one night had a limited menu and the quality wasn't great. It was much better when the full menu was on offer.
So in summary, a nice place to stay and our room was very good, a few tweaks and the whole stay would have been smoother. We would visit again because of the room quality, polite and conscience staff and location.

Issues with cleanliness caused a chest infection and coughing. Dust had collected in various areas of ducting and heating that was not maintained and serviced.
Very poor and staff tried to clean but not very well and initially refused to provide me with tools to resolve. Finally I cleaned the devices and had a night coughing free.

Room dirty , small, shabby, bathroom mouldy and dirty. Certainly overpriced for what we were offered. We were offered other rooms one the bed was too small(we had deliberately booked for a king size as we are both tall/large people . The other room was larger , but still very shabby. Disappointing experience.

After 8 hours of driving it was upsetting to be told that the room we had booked was not available as they didn’t know we were bringing a dog. The booking site emphasised the hotel’s pet friendly attitude but there was no opportunity to indicate that guests would be bringing a pet. Although they then offered an alternative room we were forced to pay £25 for bringing our dog instead of the £15 detailed in the booking site.

Very nice stay for a 3 star hotel.

You'll need a car to get around as it's in the middle of nowhere. I'm a type of traveller who needs space so go for the Comfort room if you're the same. Room was adequate for a 3 star hotel so wasn't expecting much but the breakfast buffet was excellent. Very freshly made especially in batch as they don't allow hot food to sit there to get soggy. My friend may write a review complaining about staff not able to make a mocha so if you see that then ignore her comments. She isn't classy and doesn't understand times are hard.

How people are leaving good reviews for this place are beyond me. The place is a dive. Saved only by the decent food & quality breakfast served by the attached Marco restaurant. The “comfort” room I was given was far from that. Bed springy, furnishings battered, carpets stained, windows might as well not have been there with the draft and noise they let in. To top it off there is no light in the bathroom?! What’s all that about?

How anyone is leaving a good review about this place are beyond me. The place is dilapidated. The “comfort” rooms are far from their name, rooms are dated and cold, beds springy, and the draft and road noise from the old wooden windows… well it almost feels like there are no windows atall. My bathroom didn’t even have a light in it?! Maybe there are some refurbished rooms that are better and I was just shoved in the old ones?
The only saving grace is the restaurant and bar attached to the hotel, with good grub and serves up a quality breakfast.

The food was very good but wasn't made to feel very welcome. Perhaps it was the time of year but there weren't many guests staying. I would think twice about returning.

just booked one night for a short break. Price was good so we hoped for an adequate 3-star experience. We were very pleasantly surprised. Room was extremely clean and comfortable and in our view was 4-star quality. We also had a very nice evening meal in the adjoining restaurant. Have stayed elsewhere in the area on previous visits but would certainly choose this hotel again in future.

I know you don't go to a Hotel to watch TV, but as this was business i just wanted to unwind before bed for an hour. TV in room 113 could only receive BBC1, all the other channels missing or picture breaking up.

The towels have a weird almost \"chip fat\" smell to them?

Poor nights sleep for an early work start as I was given a room with adjoining door to another guest. They were not particularly loud, but the door offered little to reduce any sounds/noise.

A nice friendly run hotel. Quick good check in, the room was ok but just needed a bit of attention in some areas. The shower was brilliant with good water pressure. The restaurant is a Marco Pierre White franchise and the steak was nice. A lot of customers ordered a pizza and did look really nice, so maybe next time. The staff were all friendly and polite.

Have stayed here before. Ideal location just off the M5 at junction 14 but not the quietest for traffic noise. Room was very comfortable and clean.
Disappointing that there are no lite bites of an evening in the bar. We were offered to book in the restaurant but we do not like Italian food.
A good choice for breakfast, continental and full English buffet, however as I said on my previous visit it isn't kept very warm! Neither was the water for tea and coffee.
It would have been nice to extend our stay but unfortunately our room was booked.

Arrived at hotel in afternoon , 5 minute checked in at reception , room ok but dated , carpet ok , booked 4 poster room but was just average really , bed just modern pine , car park view ,
One packet of 3 biscuits on tea tray between 2 of us ,
Jacuzzi bath , on using this at end of day was mortified to see dead insects coming out of holes so emptied it and made swift exit ,
Breakfast ok , plenty to chose from but ot hot as self service buffet , no table service at all have to make own tea and coffee too , think a pot of tea brought to table would be nice , heard others saying same ,
Room was noisy at nightime as had large Rotary event going on with music and mikes , wasnt told at check in , on the whole ok for 1 night , didnt see any staff on check out , def missing the personal customer service touch sadly

Good place to stay

The Hotel is currently carrying out some renovations which did not affect our stay. The restaurant food was good but the menu could do with adding some traditional English fayre. Totally enjoyed our stay and the staff are really good.
