Room was spacious & clean with comfy beds, table and chairs, adequate wardrobe space, good lighting and soft lighting if required. The room was quiet and nicely dark at night with heavy curtains. The tv worked well and easy to operate. Nice little extras: biscuits, hot chocolate, tissues, bottle of water. Bathroom facilities more than adequate. Parking easy and plenty of space. Check in quick and easy. Very comfy stay.

The room was extremely cold, staff must have been aware that something was amiss with our room as before I had chance to report the problem to reception there was a knock at the door, a member of staff had an electric heater under his arm & asked if we were cold, we were frozen, couldn't even take our coats off, he checked the radiator & said it was probably because other guests were having a shower, he said give it half an HR, both my daughter and I ended up laid under the duvet with our coats on, I then had to take the dog out & as it was now 40 mins after the appearance of the heater I called in at reception on my way back to the room to explain that we were still really cold, the very small heater had probably raised the temp by a degree or so but still not acceptable, I also suffer from Raynaud's which I mentioned to her, she said she'd send someone up, time went on, we had to get ready to go down to dinner with the rest of our party, not a great experience as I didn't want to get changed, my daughter went to check out dog an HR later & had to bring him down as he was shivering with the cold, again we went to talk to reception, we were told she'd get another heater sent up, again this never happened, luckily once we all got under the really thick duvet we did sleep ok but overall not a great experience

The hotel is beautiful outside but very dated inside and doesnt look especially well looked after (cracks in walls and ceiling and scuffed woodwork). Thw bathroom however was modern but the water was tepid. The main issue we had was there was no heating on in the room when arrived and it was freezing. Staff did come stright to sort it out and they were very apologetic as there was a fault on the boiler. Staff were nice and it was ok for somewhere to get your headown

Good stay, marred by the executive room we had #36 being over the dining room. Between 2.30 and after 3.30AM the night staff were rearranging the tables for breafast by dragging them around whilst singing along to music... not particulary impressed. Perhaps they could lift the tables and cut out the sing-song at that time of the night.. seems pretty obvious to me!

This place made me feel sad and unwanted.

The general manager was excellent to us but the restaurant manager clearly didn’t want us there and neither did his staff, who was mysteriously gone as soon as dinner started. At 5pm. On Father’s Day.

The Father’s Day special was expensive. The appetizers were pretty but completely flavorless. The entrees were not bad but hard to enjoy with the atmosphere. I think this is the first time in my life I’ve ever had to force myself to eat.

The gardens around the building were once beautiful but clearly neglected. We found an abandoned beer glass outside with drink residue and dead maggots inside and a film of weather filth on the outside sitting on one of the garden tables out back.

The mattress was actually comfortable but the room stayed hot because the air wouldn’t flow through the room.

Lovely establishment that gives that rural villa charm. The hotel had amble parking space and the room and the bathroom were spacious and clean.

A set back to experience was that the initial room assigned to me had an issue with the keycard lock, and I had to walk back and forth 3 times to the front desk (which wasn't exactly close) to finally getting it resolved by assigning me a different room. The staff was overall friendly but I felt perhaps something different could be done to reduce the amount of frustration.

A beautiful historic mansion that needs a little attention. I had a good rate of £68 but wouldn’t want to pay any more for the room I got. Decor is old fashioned. The pluses. The staff were friendly, plenty of parking the room was clean as was the bathroom. The food quality was excellent. The room was generally quite. Although not a dog owner you couldn't tell the room had previously had dogs in it, due to no sign of doig hair, except for one thing (see the negatives). Easy to get to.

The minuses. We weren't told or asked when we booked in if we were there for the Abba night or not. Our room was next to the event hall and so with the disco not ending before midnight we couldn't have settled down before then. (luckily we'd been to see a show in Leicester that evening and so didn't get back until around 11:30pm). I know there were rooms on the opposite side of the hall and it would have been good if we'd been allocated one of those. There was an odour of dog in the room, I didn't notice, my partner did.

The reason for giving the hotel a poor rating is that when I got home and was looking at possibly booking the hotel again, as despite the issues we enjoyed tthe stay, I discovered that we had not been allocated the room I had booked in July last year. My booking, through Expedia, clearly states \"Standard Room, 1 Double Bed, Non Smoking\". I have checked everything and it all states that. We were allocated \"Standard Room, 1 Double Bed, Non Smoking (Small)\", which is smaller that a Standard room and should have been cheaper. In essence we were downgraded without any reason given. Perhaps the hotel was over subscribed? Not good

Approach to the hotel and its grounds was nice. A great period building.

I ate at the hotel and the food and service was great.

I paid extra for a great room - apparently I was in the honeymoon suite.

I was absolutely freezing. I didn’t connect the dots on entry to the room but there was a slight damp smell. After my evening meal, I returned to the room to find it was freezing and on investigation the radiator was continually leaking from one of the feeds.
Clearly been like this a while based on the growth on the carpet and the fact the radiator TRV was switched off.

I couldn’t sleep and I imagine most would have complained and asked for a refund. I was away on business and had more pressing things to worry about.

There’s no heating other than the towel rail, so I was cold. There was only sparkling water on the table in the room (who drinks sparkling water anyway?!)

Bed was quite small - only a standard double so I couldn’t even get under the sheets to stay warm.

Enough said - I’d try somewhere else next time.

Great place for a break.

Arrived to ample parking and an extremely attractive manor house and setting. The welcome at reception was warm and cheerful. Our room (twin) was spacious the bathroom fine and the service was excellent. The included breakfast, maybe a little early for retired codgers like us, was very good and the staff all cheery and helpful, as were all the staff we encounted. Would definitely use this hotel again if back in that part of the country. A wedding was being held there during our stay, there is a large marquee to one side, and the garden had been decked out to look wonderful. Just to add that although there was a disco in the evening we never heard a thing in our room.

For a double room this would have made a good size single room.
Damp room running condensation on windows.
Bed up against the wall one side meaning one person had to climb over to get into bed.
Nowhere to put cases. Single wardrobe.
Paper peeling off the walls.
Dead insects on the carpet suggesting room hadn't been properly cleaned.
The room and the hotel looked tired.
Reception staff were very competent and helpful, but the bar staff were quite cold and indifferent to the guests.
The one really positive factor about this hotel was the excellent quality of the food.

Lovely front facia of the building but sadly the grounds, interior, rear of the building and staff are in serious need of renovation and refurbishment. Evening menu is poor, bar tables way too small to eat at and food overcooked. Breakfast was seriously undercooked with signage treating the guests like idiots, particularly stupid was the sign warning patrons that the fried eggs contain egg 🙄

The exterior of the hotel was impressive but I felt the interior was tired and dated. The menus for both the bar and restaurant were the same. My stay was for 2 nights and I ate our on one of them. The staff were very good especially the lady at breakfast who was very chatty and welcoming. I stayed here due to the photos and proximity to were I had to go and for such a short stay it was fine but I would not entertain staying for longer.

More efficiency required by booking staff

Booked for a two night stay, visiting family, have stayed at this Hotel a few times previously and have been very satisfied however on this occasion, we were given a room Number 25 above a Marquee were a Wedding was being held, the music was very loud and went on until 11.00 pm then guests still remained in the Marquee talking until past midnight, followed by staff clearing and clean the Marquee next morning. We did complain and the next day we were allocated a room change to a quieter part of the Hotel as there would be another Wedding on that day. The question is why did the Hotel not allocate these rooms above the Marquee to the Wedding Guests, asking the question when guests either booked or on arrival and not give out rooms to other guests not with the Wedding Party, this is surely not rocket science and a little trouble taken with the allocation of rooms would have saved complaints later.
Apart from this problem, both rooms we stayed in were clean and spacious, the staff were very friendly and helpful especially in the changing of rooms, breakfasts were very good and staff in dining room were attentive considering that there were a lot of guests on both days.
We would stop at this Hotel again but would have to ask the question as to what room we would be given if a Wedding was on, but this question should not be necessary if booking and allocation of rooms were carried out correctly and with a little consideration for guests not in the Wedding Party.

There was a wedding on Saturday which kept us all night, boom, boom until 12 midnight. Then there was a food night on
Friday just to get the pizzas all over place.

The room was to small, I won’t be back.

This was my second visit and I enjoyed it again. It's an old, friendly hotel that makes you feel more like a guest than a client, and its facilities were fine for me. What I like is that it's an honest hotel. It's not pretentious, and it doesn't offer more than it can deliver. On a Sunday night there was a bit of a queue for food, but that was to be expected and was clearly explained. I shall certainly use it again.

The bed was very hard, so I found it difficult to get comfortable. The shower requires more light, and the ceiling could do with some refurbishment. Over all it was a pleasant experience and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful
