We enjoyed our visit to Arandale. It was well worth the steep walk up Broadway from the promenade. I loved the Manx kippers and poached egg at breakfast, a must for visitors to the Isle of Man.

Just what I needed when staying in Douglas
I had a great visit to the Isle of Man. The weather was glorious. My apartment at the Arrandale was just what I needed during my visit. Scott was brilliant at keeping me informed about my booking and check in arrangements. This was greatly appreciated. My apartment kitchen area was well equipped for what I needed during my stay. I would book again at the Arrandale when visiting the Isle of Man in future.

I found the apartment where I was staying clean and very well equipped so this was just what I needed. I was pleased I stayed in Douglas as there are a good range of shops and Douglas is an ideal location to be able to access all the modes of public transport. The electric tram, the steam train, buses and the Douglas bay horse tramway. In my opinion my apartment was ideal finding a quiet place to rest in Hutchinson square. The hotel staff were very kind and considerate. Thank you Scott.

Adequate stay. Cheaper than others around it, so decent value for money. Property is clean, but is dated and the room had numerous small but annoying problems particularly with the plumbing/shower and curtains that don’t shut out the light. Breakfasts were very good though. Area was safe, but not too much in the way of facilities nearby, so a walk into the centre of Douglas was often needed. (about 15 minutes walk) The steep walk back from the promenade can get tedious after a few days.

Hotels.com advertise the property as “pets stay free” however this is not the case and Arrandale wanted to charge an additional pet surcharge after I had booked and paid. This was then waived when I pointed out the wording on hotels.com
Part of the decision in choosing Arrandale was the park across the road so that we could easily walk the dogs first thing in the morning and last thing at night, however we discovered that dogs are prohibited in the park.
Parking is on street, however it is difficult to get a space as very busy and parking is only 2 hours between 8am and 6pm.
The apartments were okay, not the comfiest or cleanest, but nice to have a little extra space more than a hotel room with the dogs, and great to have cooking facilities and washing machine.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom self catering apartment which was very spacious, clean and well-kitted out. The apartment is walking Distance to and from Douglas Beach, shops and all public transport stops.

We were upgraded to a ground floor apartment in another property (close to the original booking) which really suited our holiday plans for visiting friends and relatives and exploring the Island.
Serious renovations were underway whilst we were there - our apartment was excellent and we enjoyed our stay - but additional attention needs to be given to the plumbing noise (especially from the outside pipes).

I booked this for my 79 years young dad and my son as attending my other son's wedding. They thought the room was spacious, shower room lovely and the meals available were great. They would stay again.

We stayed in Allerton House, the annex, not Arrandale House. I was told that all rooms had recently been upgraded. Our ensuite shower room and communal kitchen were indeed new and if that’s what you want you won’t be as disappointed as we were. But it’s nothing like the website photos. Hallways weren’t kept clear and the view to the rear is dreadful.

There are 3 properties I stayed in number 29 Hutchinson Square room 7 it's clearly the better of the 3 and has undergone a refurb recently- I would request this one as the main one is older.
I didn't realise until looking round at check out but there is a big communal kitchen too if you fancy cooking etc.
I had breakfast (extra) and it was good, i will definitely try to return.

Upper floor apartment. Kitchen well stocked with everything you needed. A short walk from the seafront very pleasant. Situated halfway along the prom behind the theatre so really good location . the bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hanging space in the wardrobes and drawers for all your clothes in the bathroom there was a shower no bath or shower was absolutely amazing so powerful and really lovely. The location was fairly quiet with no surrounding noise to keep you awake at night. the apartments were just up the road from the sister hotel where you can get food and the evening and breakfast if you wanted to.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Typical old guest house. Room was a good size but in need of renovation. Wallpaper badly bubbled & peeling. The bathroom was extremely small with the toilet hard to access because the hand basin blocked you from getting to it properly. I had to back in at an angle and swing my legs around to
sit straight then my leg was directly underneath the basin. A smaller hand basin would solve the problem. The beds were OK but need renewing. Floorboards were creaky so could hear other guests moving about above. Breakfast cooked to order was good. Staff friendly. The hotel is a bit out of the main centre but a short walk to the bus stop. On the bus you can buy 1 day or 3 day excursion tickets for travel around the Island. Timetables can be obtained from the tourist office at the sea terminal. We stayed in the apartments. The location is handy, not far up from the prom. There are small shops nearby. The square has an attractive garden and is quiet; parking was not a problem. The apartment has a spacious sitting room with a good view but the bedroom was very narrow; the bed just fits in. The kitchen is well equipped. The apartment was also quiet. We only met Rose when we checked in (at the hotel) and she was very helpful then.Our only criticism was that the bedroom curtains were thin and did not keep out the early morning light. But otherwise everything was comfortable.

i thought i had booked for arrandale house and i got the e mail to say it were arrendale house but when i got there i was put in a annex that was nothing like arrandale house i had to pay 10pounds a night to stay in arrandale house not happy

What an amazing experience!
Staff 1000% (very attentive and very helpful)! Breakfast and food 1000%! A very good/functional internet. Only issue was that apparently, the tenant before me cooked some strong seafood and sometimes (in my apartment) I still felt the seafood smell :-/

Unfortunatly I was taken ill during the night but the owner of the hotel was so helpful . She arranged for a doctor to see me
and I was taken to A&E and then admitted to hospital for two days. During this time she upgraded my room and transferred all my belongings. Although I only really spent one night there I shall return again, Excellent hotel and owner.

Good hotel within walking distance of the TT paddock and Douglas town centre. Dining room doubled as lounge and bar, open for breakfast and again from 6pm until late.

Nice apartment away from the bars on the front
I stayed in one of the ground floor apartments and was very happy with the accommodation. It takes approximately 20-25 minutes from the ferry terminal on foot. However, at least 5 of those minutes are up a decent sized hill! If you've got a lot of luggage or struggle to walk I'd recommend a taxi.

The apartment was well furnished and like most victorian houses had good height ceilings and a nice decor. Unfortunately there were some signs of age (some wall paper starting to split, a little mold in one corner of the lounge) however, nothing you wouldn't expect to find in any building of this age, certainly nothing that made me feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
The bed was comfy and a good amount of bed linen was provided. As I travelled solo I didn't require a washing machine (had enough close to last) but some of the apartments do have one. It was a little tricky using the oven as the time display has started to fail so you couldn't tell if the timer was on and if so for how long. Thankfully it wasn't hard to stay near by to keep an eye on it.
The view is also very nice as you look out over Hutchinson Gardens (appt 1 at least) which are quite peaceful. The surround area is quite and feels safe.
All in all very pleasant and I would be happy to visit again.

This was the only hotel available when booking. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful when you could get hold of one. Hotel was dated and in need of a good update. Room was very basic, carpets were not hoovered the entirety of our 5 night stay. Water took a long time to warm up and the shower was almost unusable. Breakfast was very good.

The Owners are Amazing
The best part about this hotel is the family that runs it. They were so helpful right from the start allowing us a very early check in (due to our flight being bumped up 5 hours). Rose gave us directions and recommendations and then accommodated us again with a room switch on our last day. She also helped us out with an anniversary gathering for one of our couples. Their daughter, Frankie (sp?) was a sweetheart at breakfast!

Arrandale House Hotel
The hotel was clean and tidy, in a nice neighbourhood and the staff were very friendly. The internal walls are a little thin - so could be a bit noisy at times - but very handy for the amenities (5-7 min walk to the sea front)and the staff were always excellent. Very good value!

Having stayed on the Isle of Man on a number of occasions I'm well accustomed to the various uses of the word Hotel. You should bear that in mind when booking here.
Typical end terrace Victorian type IOM building in an area of residential/business buildings of similar appearance.
In my opinion the room rate of £80 per night single occupancy with breakfast was high compared with others I have stayed in.
The bar come 'restaurant' was lacking in any atmosphere and the menu was more bar snack than A La Carte and to be fair wasn't that great. BLT on un-toasted bread with cold bacon - not one of my favourites, and the gammon steak was a Tesco 1/4\" thick pre-packed one.
The rooms were very clean although a little cluttered and the bed was comfortable. 'All rooms with sea-view or view onto the square', artistic license on the sea view but you could just about see it.
The staff although friendly were not great conversationalists, although the waitress on the first morning was very pleasant.
As a guest house with an option to stay and have a drink and a bar snack in the evening then have an early night - fine, as an Hotel, a stretch.

A home from home
Stayed at the Arrandale for 5 nights and Theo and Rose made me feel very welcome from Day 1. The location is nice and peaceful just a 5 minute stroll from the prom. Full English breakfast was spot on every day with my eggs cooked by the very friendly Rose just the way I like them. The grand building and decor are in keeping with the history of Douglas with high ceilings, homely furnishings and an attractive style. This is combined with modern home comforts of double glazing, gas central heating, and a fantastic power shower in my room. The room was spacious, cleaned daily and offered lovely views of the sea and promenade.
Being a celiac, with allergies to gluten and dairy, eating whilst away can often be a real issue. However Theo made the effort to have a fridge and chopping board/implements put in my room so I could prepare my own pack ups for each day which i thought was a really nice touch.
Overall I think I received good value for money. I would definitely stay here again and I only wish my poker game had been of a similar standard to that of the Arrandale!

I booked a room on expedia as a 3 star room, when I got to the hotel there was nobody in the reception and I had to use the desk phone to call someone to come, then I had to wait 7 minutes. I was told that I am in a room with shared bathroom, because it is a basic room, and if I wanted to upgrade and have my own bathroom I need to pay another 5 GBP. When I showed my surprise I was even told that a shared bathroom is normal for such a low price, I can't disclose the rate, but it was on the high end of the prices I paid for a 3 star room. In the end I was upgraded for free, because I booked a room for two and I was by myself!! I wonder what would have happened if the hotel was fully booked.
The room itself wasn't all that bad, it was all I was looking for, but if you are looking for a nice room, this is not the hotel for you.
