Hotel is NOT SOUNDPROOF
They lie about this! There is gaps in the doors and windows so sound easily gets in. Could hear the markets all day and night so staff changed my room to a better room however the shower and bathroom hadn’t been cleaned at all. And I mean at all.
Curtains didn’t close properly and had stains on. The floor was so dirty I made a cleaner clean it and had to call them back to reclean what they missed! There was a pubic hair in the bath and on the toilet seat. Water marks all on the shower to show it has t been cleaned in a while too.
On top of this, a family of Russians decided to have a party at the pool all night til 6am which the reception did nothing about until I shouted to say I will call the police and they they tiredly decided to ask them to keep it down nowhere they told the staff to F off.
They did nothing to make the guests quiet. Pretty disrespect to the other guests.

I was travelling solo and enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It’s in a convenient location with a short walk to Kata Beach and Kata Noi Beach. Lots of restaurants nearby. I’m happy I stayed in this area instead of the usual Patong area as it’s abit more quiet. The hotel breakfast was great with all the usual options. I enjoyed the room service options a couple nights when I felt like some Western food like a pizza or burger. I had the pool access room, but I had one of the rooms on the side of the pool where the balcony does not go straight into the pool, so some rooms don’t have the direct pool access from your balcony. The rooms are a little run down though. The bed base around my mattress had cigarette ash and dust around the room. The staff were friendly.

The staff where lovely and really made the place.

My first night happened to be my birthday, i hadnt told anyone but they noticed in my passport and brought me a cake and sang me happy birthday. I thought it was a really nice touch.

The place was always clean and nothing bad to say. Would recommend.

Dirty rooms, unclean, wouldn’t recommend.

We were supposed to stay 6 nights here, but every room we were given had hair or blood stains in the beds. We had to change 4 different times to 4 different rooms, each room either had sheets with blood stains, hair everywhere or just over all dirty rooms...

The staff was extremely nice, obviously it's not the receptions fault, so they then switched our hotels to Surf (their sister hotel in Kata). We are staying here now but this hotel is even run down.. Pool is murky/unclean, definitely won't be getting in. We're happy to have a clean room though, but wow... Super disappointing situation. Wouldn't recommend staying
here.

To the manager or whoever the higher up is reading this, please do a quality check on your rooms, linens and beds.... 4 rooms all with hair, blood and over all

The restaurant staff was very friendly and helpful, the male staff in reception friendly too, but the more senior lady staff in reception seemed mostly busy on their smart phones, seldom looking up to actively ensure a good stay for the customers or even extend a smile or friendly gesture. I think this hotel has a general feel that they do not have to make any efforts because clients are coming anyway. Hotel is functional, not dirty but just about delivering minimum expectations of cleanliness, nothing more and nothing less. Active information about facilities, services and things to enjoy, including proper information about transportation options across the area is almost non existent. Environmental responsibility and helping customers spend less single use plastic by eliminating bottles, using water tanks instead, remove plastic from waste bins etc. is non existent. Here the hotel management should step their game up. There is room for improvement and perhaps I would after that stay here again.

1. Thanks to all staff for birthday surprise during breakfast, we were really surprised even myself ( I guess my requested was denied but finally it happened with surprised also myself over my expectation)
2. We are really happy with your room even we don’t spend our time to access to the pool.
3. The overall of staff were very friendly and professional even with us (Thai).
4. Improvement point are breakfast food were not variety compared with other hotel what we use to spend in same rate, I am not sure if you have 2 stand lard for high and low season, but I would recommend to improve it asap.(especially the bacon(my favorite) but we never touched it due to really thurible appearance and dry).
Last point: again thanks for professional team in the hotel and look forward to see some improvements with my future visiting!

Just an average place to stay in the hustle of kata beach. Good VALUE for money.
I had a swim out room and sadly the room next to me was being repaired / painted so when I had air conditioning on my room filled with pain fumes. People congregate by the small pool waiting for taxis and day trips smoking. Breakfast was adequate. Staff very friendly and helpful. Short walk to beach. Kata is over run with Russian tourists do stay away as there are much nicer parts to visit.

A lovely hotel with great staff.
Breakfast was worth getting up for.
5 minutes walk to the beach only draw back was walking directly out onto a road with no sidewalk especially with kids.
10 minute walk to beach if not walking via the beach, again on a fairly busy road but drivers are aware of pedestrians.
Was a little disappointed that we didn’t get an upgrade even though the booking offered this as part of the deal and our room was at the road side so a little noisy with traffic in the mornings.
The staff did try to accommodate by offering a quieter room but the room was smaller and the view was not as nice. We did get a sea view room so not so bad.
Overall myself and 2 children had a lovely stay and would stay there again. Although I would like to try the Sugar Marina Resirt - Fashion next time as it was more convenient for the beach.

It's pretty comfortable for it's price. The floors are a little bit oily, presumably from the type of cleaning agent used to clean the floors. Felt like stepping on dried up oil. Sheets were not changed daily and after room makeup, they did not replace the bathroom mat. Apart from those, the room was reasonably clean, and both the room & bathroom was spacious. We were lucky to get a room with a view of Kata Beach and Big Buddha atop the hill but my friends were not as lucky as their room's view was of another private housing facing a dark road with trees so there were mosquitoes. WiFi isn't great but we had unlimited data so it wasn't a problem. Hotel staff were friendly. Overall, not bad for the price.

Decent Hotel with room for improvement

I have stayed in this hotel previously and have always liked its proximity to the beach and modern comfort. However this time the hot water in my room does not work in the evenings when I most needed a hot shower and this problem has persisted throughout my entire stay. Their engineer could not fix this. And internet was working probably only 50% of the time. Hope they will get these basic things sorted out soon.

Nice little hotel near the quieter kota beach with a lot of restaurants around. Breakfast buffet is ok nothing fancy. Front desk stuff are mostly nice except 1 girl with glasses who maybe in bad mood that day show no smile at all. But room is clean, will stay again.

Hotel is a little dated. However, our room was a reasonable size, clean and comfortable. It was on the 2nd floor at furthest point from reception so was quiet. Breakfast selection was ok, not the best but not the worst. Hotel is within walking distance of beach and restaurants. Personally, we found Karon beach a better place to stay than Kata and closer to Patong if you are interested in what that offers. Whilst the hotel was ok next time I would go for something a little newer. Very limited parking.

Pleasant stay in great location

If you want an affordable, friendly, hotel located close to Kata Beach, this is a great choice. Only a 2 minute walk to the beach, the hotel has incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and had everything we needed, including free mini bar (water, coca-cola, snickers bar, can of beer, and orange juice) restocked daily. Room was turned over daily, and the housekeepers changed the bed sheets upon our request halfway through the week. If you have B&B option, breakfast is a buffet of both hot and cold food options, including continental but also thai food (fried rice for breakfast was unusual at first but became a normal thing for us!!). When checking out, we had an 8 hour wait before we were due to be collected from the airport. During this time, the hotel looked after our bags but also allowed us use of the pool area and even access to showers before we left, which was a huge help (didn't fancy getting on two 7-hour flights after a day in the heat!!). It isn't luxury, but if you're looking for something affordable, where you get a lot for your money, this is a great place.

A good compromise

The hotel is in a great location, very close to two beaches. The areas is also very well served and not as crowded as other areas in Phuket. The only drawback is related to the cleanliness, as it did not meet very high standards. It’s acceptable, but I would have expected more. I have to say that it improved over my stay, as I was more disappointed at the arrival. Overall, it’s a good compromise, as the quality price ratio is ok and the staff is friendly. Breakfast is average.

Does what is says on the tin...

The hotel is well located next to the beach and local amenities.
We stayed for one week and were immediately welcomed by the staff and invited to join in with a local tradition which was a pleasant experience.
The hotel itself was a bit of a let down - looking a little tired and unkept.
The cleaning of the rooms was done with pretty minimal effort and unfortunately our room had damp problems with wet bedsheets and a dank smell which the hotel tries their best to cover with air fresheners. Obviously the Thai climate has a say in this, so I can’t totally blame the hotel.
The room itself was very spacious and the design, pleasing to the eye. One issue seems to be wardrobe space...there is none.
Also - a safety deposit box that Was not bolted down to anything or Infact wired so it worked - sort of defeats the object of it really!
The pool area was rather non descriptive. Open to the main road and car park it’s not really a place to enjoy the day but it looks pretty at night time.
Staff were very polite,helpful and had a smile.

Overall - the hotel pics advertised were obviously when it was first built so looks nicer than reality.
However it serves its purpose as a 3 star rated hotel.

Great retreat from crowded beach

We feelt very comfortable at your hotel. The pool was great. The breakfast enormous!
We had been to Kata 13 years ago. Unfortunately the beach is now so terribly crowded- but this is not possible to change. The community could put up clean toilets along the beach.

Upon arrival we were greeted by their bubbly and friendly staff. I really love their warm hospitality ^^ ! The room were reasonably cleaned although there were a few rust here and there but it is overall acceptable :) ! The bathroom comes with a lovely tub and a separate showerhead + rainforest showerhead. They even have things like a beach mat, umbrella, towers and slippers that you can bring to the beach !!! The pool was pretty and reasonably sized too. For the price you paid, I would say it was a very good deal. This is not some 5-star hotel so do not expect so much. My boyfriend and I loved it so much and we would definitely return again :DDD !

Sugar Marina Nautical has an excellent location. Not too close nor far from restaurants, massage parlour n beach. Lova you can.just walk to all these places.
The room condition can further be improve though , for example the curtains n sheets.
Other than that, a great hotel.

What I liked about this place:
- Nicely decorated
- Good bed
- Spacious enough room
- Balcony
- Few minutes walk from beach and restaurants
- Beach towels availaible in the room

What I dislike about it:
- Located next to the road.
- Swimming pool is right next to the parking and the road, so you won't get much privacy. Everyone can spot you, definitely not relaxing.
- Breakfast was poor (especially bad cofee)
- Noisy air con in the room, so it can be disturbing if you're a troubled sleeper like me.
- No storage room to keep your luggage if you arrive early or leave late. Luggage are kept in the lobby next to the main entrance. Wouldn't leave my valuable items...

Overall, I am not sure I would stay here again. I would probably try a different hotel.

I checked into Sugar Marina Nautical with my teenage daughter, and very surprised to find such a unique hotel just in the beginning of uphill Kata Noi rd. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I like how the whole hotel is staying with the theme. Hotel room has a big balcony facing the sea. It was just a pleasant stay.

The look and style of the hotel is lovely, with all rooms and premises all decked out in a cute nautical theme. The pool area does not get much sun, but the beach us just a few minutes walk away. The breakfast was good, but we all had slightly upset tummies during our stay. On the last day we suspect we may have seen the reason as we noticed that birds were flying into the open air restaurant area and standing on the food when it was left unattended, even in the omelette mix! Also, we saw staff passing around food and giving it a sniff trying to decide if it was off! The staff were mostly disinterested, playing with their phones most of the time. The room was quite dusty and not cleaned very well. Also, the staff were not particularly happy to give us a double room, even though this was what we had booked, suggesting we may prefer a twin on more than one occasion (I was with my husband and it was as if they had not had a gay couple stay there before!). On several occasions some staff burst into laughter after we walked past. It did make us feel a little uncomfortable and it was surprising for this to happen in Thailand.

My trip to Phuket for a period of 5D4N where 2 nights stayed with Sugar Marina Hotel - Nautical. It was a pleasant & memorable experience with their friendly and helpful receptionist. Breakfast is simple however it's great for a start of the day. The room that I've booked is pool access, fully equipped with the basic necessity inclusive of beach towels, beach mat & slippers.

Great hotel, but location could be better

We stayed here for 4 nights.
The room: clean and modern. Lovely nautical decor, good aircon and wifi, good bathroom. The only downside is that the water temp in the shower fluctuates a lot - doesn't seem to stay on a consistent temp.
The hotel: also clean and today. The staff were very friendly - helped us book phi phi island tour and AirPort transfers. Breakfast was excellent! Didn't swim in the pool (went to Kata beach 5mins down the road instead), but it looked lovely and enticing all the same.
Overall, the staff and amenities at this hotel were very good. The only reason I probably wouldn't stay here again is the location. This hotel is located at the Southern end of kata beach, up the hill, and the walk to shops/restaurants/beach is along a narrow and busy street. Would probably prefer to stay somewhere a little more central.

Kata beach is beautiful!

We stayed at the Sugar Marina Nautical at Kata beach in January. Weather was perfect! The taxi to the hotel from Phuket airport is 900 baht--minimum. One reviewer said 200 baht, this is NOT correct. The taxi takes about an hour, but everywhere to any good beach in Phuket takes a long time. The concierge at the hotel helped us rent a motor scooter which was essential to getting around. Snorkeling is good at Kata. I don't recommend the hotel not because it was horrible, but there are better places to stay for the same cost.

You have gotto go there when in Kata !!!

I was there for 3 weeks and it did not disappoint. Everything about the place was great. The pool at night time was magical as it lit up the floor. Its on the edge of Kata Beach which is far enough to stay in the action but far away to escape it as well. A great place to relax and highly recommend. Thank you to all the staff involved ;0)

Everything we wanted in a hotel!

You get excellent service right from when you step off your taxi. They will try their best to accommodate your requirement. We were there really early in the morning, and they even managed to check us in to our room. Breakfast was o.k, but they do provide minibar replenished daily which you can have without any extra charges! I don't even get this type of service from a 4* hotel! The pool was clean, bed were extra comfy, room were huge! They also provide umbrellas in each room, just in case if you wanted to go out when it rains. Will be coming back again for sure :)

Smart new hotel nicely furnished. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. Unfortunately the wifi logged you out everytime you went out and you had to reenter the password etc. it was also quite slow. One other thing was that check-in took ages as we only had the booking number on the screen of the phone (they had a print out of my booking as well) and I had to log on to wifi and get an email to mail them my reservation for them to print my copy. frustrating, pointless and time consuming. This hotel and their sister hotel is the only place I have ever had to do this.

Nice hotel close to beach

Clean, tidy, good wifi, nice breakfast's, close to beach -once you find out how to get there. Hired scooter from a nice guy down the street on right hand side of road. Hotel staff could have better English & there was no information pack in room regarding amenities, map, instructions on how to get to beach, where to get Tuk Tuk/Taxi's / Bus etc
We had a great time due to great weather & having been to Phuket before & found Hotel nice & comfortable with a great pool , not sure if we'd go back to Phuket again as this time were put off by being hassled in local markets & walking down St ...will see =)

Great hotel

A perfect location for us, away from the busier part of kata but only a very short walk away. Impressed by proximity to the beach, only a few minutes away via a cut through at the side of the road. Staff were very friendly and helpful and reception service was swift. Breakfast was good and there was always fresh fruit, juices and breads available as well as an egg station and a variety of Thai type dishes too. A great value and well run hotel. Thank you for a lovely stay.

This hotel was perfect. It is very new and very modern especially compared to most SE Asia hotels. Compared to the price of hotels on the beach, the location was really close for getting to Kata Beach. The amenities were great. Free WiFi in the room and free minibar items everyday. The neighborhood is very family friendly. The breakfast was pretty good and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pool is very nice too especially at night. Great hotel! Would definitely stay again.

Quiet hotel walking distance to the beach

We had a wonderful stay at sugar marina. Excellent value for money. Short walk to both kata and kata noi beaches. The staff go out of their way to accommodate the guests. 5 star hotel for a fraction if the price.

Our room was a bit stinky, especially the pillows on the couch. They need to be drycleaned! Also the design of the bathroom is weird, because due to the panels you can hear everything that is going on in the bathroom. Which is awkward if you are sharing a room with someone.

Wonderful stay!

I have stayed at many posh hotels before but Sugar Marina really did impress me. The rooms were gorgeously decorated, the sheets were of quality, and the staff provided great service. The hotel was also very conveniently located, about 5-10 minutes away from the beach and convenience stores. My only gripe is that it is perched in the middle of a hill, which made it a pain to walk to. Else wise, the hotel is fantastic, and extremely value for money!

Lovely, clean property located between to beaches

This hotel is really beautiful. The staff is attentive and helpful. The rooms are very nice -- western-style shower with glass doors and hot and cold running water (as opposed to a wall-mounted water heater, like we had at other hotels in Thailand). The mini-friide was restocked with 2 bottles of water, one can of Coke, one beer and one juice box daily. Very nice salt-water pool with LED lights in the pool floor. We added on the breakfast, and were glad that we did -- it was a lovely spread of food, including pastries and fresh tropical fruits. The one drawback of the property is that you go downhill to either beach, which means that you need to walk home uphill. I would still stay here again, if we ever get back.

Good hotel for a family or a couple

My girlfriend and I stayed in this new hotel which opened earlier this year. Staff are eager to help and the location is very good as you have you a choice between the more busy Kata beach (5 mins walk downhill) or a quieter Kata Noi beach (10 mins walk uphill then downhill).

The hotel room is of decent size for the price and all rooms have a balcony or direct access to the pool if you are on the ground floor. There are half a dozen rooms with beach veiw as well - so try and book those if you can.

As with many other hotels in the area the main occuparnts (I'd say 70%) are Russian families or couples, we've only seen a handful of fellow Brits during our time there. All were well bahaved nevertheless and we didn't experience any noise or other problems in the 2 weeks we've been there.

Hotel food and drink is slightly pricey compared to others in the vicinity but the quality is very good. Lots of good places to get a massage a couple of bars and a tuk tuk (taxi) service less than 1 min walk (dont forget to drop 100-200 bhat at least to whatever price they tell you).

this hotel has definitely been one of the best hotel I've stayed in! From what I know it is one of the newest hotel around the area. The price you pay is definitely worth the buck! Nice rooms, clean bathroom, free amenities such as gym, pool, breakfast, free wi-fi, and even drinks at your hotel room! The room itself have nice cozy feel, with interiors mimicking a sailor-theme. I cannot tell you how beautiful the place is!!! it just is! The only catch of this hotel is that it doesn't have a direct access to the beach and you had to walk around 2-3 minutes going to the beach. small catch for a good place! But there was an instance when they had to charge us for an extra person who stayed in the room. We were 3 person in the room thinking that one could sleep in the sofa but when they knew that there is an extra person staying in the room (compared to the usual 2 person per room) they had charged us extra payments. We agreed thinking they give us an extra bed that would come with the payment but instead we just paid and got the same set-up where my other friend still had to sleep in the sofa. So check with the hotel first before making reservations. But all in all, it is a recommendable hotel for it's price, quality and location!
